Any truth in these rumours that Rafa is set to join Fenerbache?

Swan117

{Ed0666's Note - I’ve just spent the last 3 days eulogizing about him and advocating his move to Everton and now you tell me this???!! What a waste of my time.

1.) 05 Jun 2021 18:02:56
I though Martinez was going to Fenerbache.

2.) 05 Jun 2021 23:05:31
Maybe they're both going for a holiday. Are they on the green list?

3.) 06 Jun 2021 07:52:17
They will be fine bud if they say there second nationality is German then they don't have to self isolate and if they say they are related to Gove they won't have to self isolate if they take a test daily ha ha.

Against Wolves, it won't happen, but I want to see some of the kids play. Fans will be back and I expect them to give dogs abuse to those players. I don't want to see anyone complain ever again about the fans being the reason we struggled to win games when we've had no fans all season and have the worst home record ever.

If Carlo wants the fans to actually appreciate the team and hopefully allow us to play without constant anger from the fans. Then the likes of Onyango (if he's fit, don't think he is) , Nkounkou, Warrington, Broadhead etc or whoever, should play. Not saying give the game to the Under 23's. Keep Pickford, Godfrey, Doucoure, James and DCL in the team and put some youngsters around them. The season is finished now so why not, get the fans onboard for the last 2 games and go again next season.

Swan117

1.) 18 May 2021 09:40:58
Nkounkou should be in in front of Seamus, the kids got energy to burn and we have seen how he likes to attack. He is our future Seamus god love him is our past.
Oh and before people say any of the players Swans named are too young. Remember we lost to a single goal scored by a seventeen year old.

2.) 18 May 2021 11:20:53
Not sure about putting a left back in front of a right back but if there is an right sided option from the youth setup then I don't see why not give them a go. Nkounkou if he does play would be better either at LM or LB with Digne playing the other position. Personally I would go Digne LB with Nkounko LM if you wanted to play both players.

3.) 18 May 2021 11:21:01
I think warrington is a good shout. Give someone with fire in belly and chance to impress a go. There's a 17yr old striker coming through too. Think he's called Charlie whittiker. Let em loose on wolves.

4.) 18 May 2021 17:14:20
Just move Richy over to the right.

5.) 18 May 2021 21:20:19
. right hand side of the bench next to big dunc to lecture him on where he needs to improve and why he's benched.

12 Apr 2021 00:50:38
So Mina is looking to leave. He's a weird one isn't he, sometimes I watch him and think "what a machine he is" other times I think "oh he's Heitinga on steroids". Wouldn't be disappointed if he left. I think most important players to keep in the summer are Godfrey, Digne, Richarlison and DCL.

Speaking of which, Ed 002, do you expect Moise Kean to leave in the summer?

Swan117

{Ed002's Note - I think Kean will get the move he wants in the summer.}

1.) 12 Apr 2021 22:19:37
Ed 02 how much do u think we'd get for kean. Could you see going for Daryl dike lad on loan at barnsley.

{Ed002's Note - I would think Everton would look for about €30M. Not so sure about DD.}

2.) 12 Apr 2021 23:04:58
Thanks ed thought they might ask for some more for kean. think next striker needs be someone from lower league somone hungry there are some good players out there in championship.

Wanted to ask Ed001 what he thinks about the possible appointment of Benitez. A big mistake or a decent appointment? Pro's and con's etc?

Swan117

{Ed001's Note - if it wasn't for his background, I would say it would be a decent next step, someone to steady the ship and get it back on an even keel and build a good platform. He is a very good tactician, but some players will not listen to him because he didn't play at a high level, which was the main problem at Madrid. Then the board decided he was too defensive because he wanted to play Casemiro in front of the defence and use the exact same system Zidane used to take them to 3 Champs Leagues in a row. And I do mean exact, but Zidane is Zidane and was immune to criticism so he could do and the players would just get on board.

The worry is that he can tend to get involved in petty politicking and lose focus on what matters plus he is very trusting of his scouts, but you have Brands in charge of that area so it shouldn't be an issue. So long as he sticks to coaching and tactics he will be as good as the players at his disposal allow him to be, but he is always going to be a red to some and that is the one thing I don't see him overcoming without trophies.

I just have a feeling it is going to all end in tears and it is a sad thought as Rafa is a lovely man who deserves to be given time to build and is probably exactly what you need right now, apart from being who he is.}

1.) 17 Jun 2021 03:57:56
Thank you very much for the detailed response Ed

I too think it will end badly, mainly because our fans are fed up of chopping and changing, if he would’ve joined back when Allardyce came in for example, I think more fans would’ve been on board. Plus he has to follow Ancelotti who some of our fans still love and think we can’t do any better than. We’d only be 2 losses in a row away from a crisis, not to mention the media will love to play up his Liverpool past constantly which could maybe distract him from his job as manager at Everton?

Obviously the appointment isn’t as set in stone as it looked like last night, but if it does happen, I’d really like it to work because, as a man, I’ve only ever heard good things about him.

You can tell he likes to feel loved by fans, had it with Liverpool, Napoli and Newcastle. I know he won the Europa League with Chelsea but their fans still hated him, but I think, if we could get over the first few months of anger from most fans, if he won us a trophy, or at least got the team fighting again, actually putting effort in for the fans. He will never be as loved as he was at Liverpool, but I do feel our fans could warm to him if he gets the team fighting and/ or won us something.

{Ed001's Note - in so many ways he is a perfect fit. I mean you will never find another manager so willing to involve himself in the community work, and Montse (his wife) does so much for the city. But I just fear his past is always going to be held against him.}

16 Jun 2021 22:07:55
So Dominic King has come out and said Moshiri is essentially leading this charge for Rafa on his own and that Brands and Kenwright aren't interested. Real shame that, if we get him and it doesn't work, will people start to maybe question his decisions?

Also Kenwright is allegedly begging Moshiri to bring Martinez back, please for the love of god get that man out the club

Brands is off shouting in a room somewhere with no one to hear

What a mess of a club we are.

Swan117

{Ed0666's Note - you’ll take moshris money but not his input?

1.) 17 Jun 2021 02:30:15
Of course he should have an input. He has done so much right for us but he should know his weaknesses and unfortunately football savvy is one of them as far as I can see

Mind you I wanted / was happy with Martinez, Silva, Koeman, CA when they came and look at what happened

Whoever comes in I will support the club always but fear I will be ruing another mistake in 6 months time.

2.) 16 Jun 2021 23:08:23
So because he puts money into the club he’s above criticism?

His input has been shocking, 0% success rate.

3.) 16 Jun 2021 23:43:10
Didn't that king bloke say santo was 48 hrs from being manager a week ago? That guy knows as much as the rest of us, not much, every man and his dog has had an opinion so it seams, brands has come in for a lot of stick but is it actually his job to pick a manager thought he was more player focused?

4.) 17 Jun 2021 01:41:23
Martinez is a top coach. If you watch the documentary on iplayer, he has revolutionised the Belgium F. A. and they love. hik for it.

Maybe more. suited to coaching and technical director of Belgium football.

Seen lucien favre is available. Did great at Nice but struggled at dortmund.

5.) 17 Jun 2021 06:52:45
Seems contradictory to me, if they aren't interested but Bill is also pushing Martinez.
If Brands isn't interested then maybe he should go.

6.) 17 Jun 2021 07:07:21
First of all you are getting your information from who? The papers? Social media? It is just speculation, all of it.

Hiring someone is the most boring process. They've probably had 2 or 3 meetings with managers that lasted a couple of hours and then they go away, do their normal stuff, get back together at some point and then talk about who they want.

The papers make out they in a room for 24 hrs a day screaming and shouting. Nothing like it.

Stay calm people, stop being negative until something concrete comes out.

At the moment people are raging at reports made by reporters who's only interest is make their story (99% of the time completely made up) sound as Hollywood as possible.

16 Jun 2021 19:49:57
Can we start selling "Rafa Cakes" at Goodison now?

Swan117

1.) 16 Jun 2021 20:15:27
Lol that’s brilliant.

2.) 16 Jun 2021 20:31:53
Be better off selling Rafa tickets for when he gets binned.

3.) 16 Jun 2021 20:56:41
Him or Moyesit was for me.

16 Jun 2021 18:50:20
#MoshiriOut already getting going on Twitter

Let's just enjoy the ride, if we do get Rafa, it will be carnage one way or another.

Swan117

1.) 16 Jun 2021 19:16:16
some of our fans need a reality check finished 10th and have some poor players and the expected Conte to be interested. I think he will be a very good manager for us and a lot of our fans will have egg on their face.

{Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..

2.) 16 Jun 2021 19:17:06
Not the one I wanted at all but I put a post up recently and said we needed a manager that will stick around and he will.

He's not daft and we will back him unlike at Newcastle. So I expect him to take us forward and give us some much needed stability.

I still absolutely hate the man with every fibre in me though but I love Everton more.

Right let's concentrate on comings and goings. Is Nunes from Porto about to follow him? He looks a player we really do need.

3.) 16 Jun 2021 19:27:54
Ungrateful idiots if you ask me mate.

4.) 16 Jun 2021 19:37:52
He will do well for us, really pleased he got the job, lot of people on here with egg on their faces love it.

5.) 16 Jun 2021 19:38:00
You need to lighten up BlueJohn, thete are a lot worse people to hate in this worlf than Rafa for being former Red.

{Ed025's Note - just like every other manager if he does well he will be the second coming rick, if not he will be a secret agent mate.. :)

6.) 16 Jun 2021 19:52:27
I think you have me wrong. I'm not against Rafa at all. I just don't like him at all. I absolutely hate him.

But.

What I think is really good about the appointment is he is a clever manager and will give us stability which we desperately need. I'll back himm 100%.

16 Jun 2021 15:48:05
So the argument is "Moshiri is owner, he has final say, wouldn't you want the same if you owned something"

Okay I can agree with that to an extent. Here's the issues, Moshiri has a terrible track record, Silva didn't work, Koeman didn't work, Ancelotti didn't work. He employed Steve Walsh who we now know was just dreadful.

So what's Moshiri like? We know he likes "Hollywood" managers and signings, he's admitted as much. He likes things ready made, short term style of doing thing

So my question is, why employ a director of football known for bringing through young players, young coaches and developing a club in the long term? It goes completely against what you have publicly said you want.

So you get 2 men with completely different ideologies, 1 has the final say, the other is supposed to run the club, but isn't allowed to because he wants long term success as opposed to the "oven ready" system.

So surely Brands should be sacked, or resign, because it isn't working, if you don't take his advice on board, get rid. If you don't like his way of doing things, get rid.

We know the type of managers Brands likes, Ancelotti and Silva didn't fit that. So depending on who we get, for example, Conte, Rafa, Nuno etc. That it's pretty much Brands being undermined again.

And if the next appointment doesn't work, which is a real possibility, assuming it's one of the above mentioned, how long before fans do start asking questions.

Swan117

1.) 16 Jun 2021 16:14:43
The fact that Brands has been given a position on the board negates the call for him to resign or be sacked. The man is obviously happy at the club or he wouldn't have recently signed a contract extension.
From a DoF perspective, Walsh left us in a mess, a costly one at that. Brands has come in but it has taken time to sort out the mess. There is still work to do and he seems happy to be there, doing it. That doesn't suggest he is being undermined, if that was the case then he probably would have walked by now.
Any appointment is a risk and it won't take too long for our fans to turn on whoever is in charge if results aren't going well. We have seen as much with the last 5 or 6 managers so I expect more of the same!

2.) 16 Jun 2021 16:26:15
Just out of interest sake how do you know what type of manager Brands likes?
And what’s to say he wouldn’t like the appointment of Nuno?

If Brands likes to bring young players through and Nuno has a track record for playing youngsters surely they’d be a good fit?

Before Mendes is mentioned - he was an adviser to Wolves the club, not necessarily Nuno as an individual.

3.) 16 Jun 2021 16:34:12
I’m not sure there is an issue here. We have an owner then everyone else under his employment. If worthier party isn’t happy they worthier find a job elsewhere or they are told to. Brands is giving no indications what so ever that he’s unhappy. To the contrary he’s indicating that everything is fine by signing contract extensions and taking more responsibility on the board.

4.) 16 Jun 2021 17:40:13
Look at his record at PSV. Not a fan of dire negative football with no room for adaptation.

Nuno is best mates with Mendes, by Wolves fans’ own comments, Nuno missed out on a lot of good players because they weren’t with Mendes, or weren’t recommended by Mendes, he ignores everyones advice except Mendes. Which makes working under Brands, an issue.

5.) 16 Jun 2021 17:48:09
Unfortunately, there are some fans you can't win with. You being one Swan. He's not even appointed anyone yet and you are already having a go.

He is the owner of the football club and everyone answers to him. So of course he will have the final say. I've never heard of anything where the people under you have more of a say on matters. What a bloody crazy run business that would be!

{Ed025's Note - "the lunatics taking over the asylum" .. :)

6.) 16 Jun 2021 18:17:33
Marcel Brands was at PSV from 2010-18
In that time there were only 2 managers cocu and advocatt

So not sure how can make an assumption of what type of manager Brands prefers.

7.) 16 Jun 2021 18:38:00
It’s not about him having more of a say, it’s about him actually being needed at the club. Or is he just here so if things do go wrong, Moshiri can say “well it was Brands who messed up, just like Walsh”.

I’m having a go because by all reports, he’s repeating the same mistakes he’s made numerous times now, he’s failed the club massively on the pitch.

8.) 16 Jun 2021 18:46:46
Doesn’t matter lads it looks like it’s definitely Rafa now

Up the toffees.

9.) 16 Jun 2021 18:49:21
It's the players that have failed massively on the pitch. Moshiri has backed his managers to the hilt, I fail to see how he can get pelters for that? If the managers have scouted poor players, or whoever was DoF at the time, then it's on their heads. You would have an argument if he was denying any manager the player he wants and causing friction. That's not the case though at everton.

10.) 16 Jun 2021 19:02:56
It’s the managers he’s hired that are the problems mate.

11.) 16 Jun 2021 19:17:46
To an extent mate but the majority of these players have seen off 4 or 5 managers now, one way or another. They have to shoulder a lot of the blame I think.

We talked a bit, we were talking about Everton and I said “Iwobi is decent, Holgate can still be good and Delph has been a good signing”.

He said “Alex Iwobi is rubbish, these are facts”, “Mason Holgate is too inconsistent, these are facts” and “Fabien Delph has been a disaster, once again I am talking about facts”.

Doesn’t seem a Brands type of manager with his style of play or the huge influence of his agent (which will see us miss out on a LOT of good young players because Nuno apparently ignores advice from anyone in regards to signing players except Mendes) .

Swan117

{Ed0666's Note - you’ll get some great Portuguese youth nino can nurture.
