Incredible how far DCL has come in the past 12 months. Wasn't too long ago me and many others thought he wasn't good enough for the premier league nevermind Everton. Made up for the lad, our striker.

I think he just needs to add a little to his touch then he will be too notch. Often he mis hits or goes in off shin - as we progress he will need to be a little more clinical.
He is progressing better than I expected and hopefully he will be our striker for next 8-10 years.
On too of that he seems a top bloke!

Very true, swan, I was all for loaning the lad out to see if he could cut it as a CF!
DCL isn't a natural finisher but you can see that the lad has put the work in and is reaping the rewards now with his goal tally. Deadly in the box with his head or feet, this is why we need wingers that will cross the ball in and play to his strengths. Hopefully, he will be with us for the long haul but, if we do get a silly offer for him further down the line, we will make quite a few quid out of it. £1.5m is a steal for an English CF scoring goals at the top level.

Yep mate.

Dad taught me to make sure I was in there hit it with anything as long as it is legal. Even had sore nads at one time 3rd of a hat trick.

I've been resigned to us not winning a trophy for a while now.

But Jesus the reactions. Pretending like this is not Man City. We've got our first choice keeper and 2 best midfielders out injured. Carlo would've had to construct a masterclass to win.

I just want us to start winning games we should be winning in the league.

Big summer ahead for the club, I trust the manager. Because he's trustworthy, we should ever have been judged for last season or this season. Far too much work needed to be done, next season is when things should really get going.

Well played Joao Virginia by the way. I know he didn't have a lot to do but looked very comfortable. Which is massive considering what happened to him at Reading. With the right development he COULD be a future keeper for us.

Let's just move on from this game, it was nearly impossible to win given the circumstances. If we lose and we don't put any effort in, that's when people should get mad (including myself) but everyone tried their best. City were just too good, it hurts, course it does, we all want to win things. The UTD game hurt a lot more than this. Let's keep going.

Well said, swan. Nobody can argue if the team doesn't put a shift in or lack desire or fight. City are one of the worlds best club teams and we at least had a go. The results, and the way we played, against Utd, Burnley and Fulham spring to mind for below par performances. Yesterday, we were beaten by a word class team and there's no shame in that.
A couple more transfer windows and I believe we will have a much stronger squad which can compete at the top end of the league. No more false dawns, we have the right man in charge and we have a generous owner that will back him (within the ffp stipulations) so it should be exciting times ahead!

I mean, it's easier said than done but which players would you like to see leave in the summer? For me: Gomes, Delph, Iwobi and Bernard.

None are good enough for where we want to be, I'd probably add Mina to that list too depending on how Branthwaite is developing.

1.) 12 Mar 2021 14:28:52
Hard to make a case for any of them., certainly there are better replacements out there.

2.) 12 Mar 2021 16:48:29
I think Mina has been decent this season, I would keep him to be honest, but I think if we could get him off the wage bill and tbe money is right, maybe we would let him go.

{Ed077's Note - Maybe a prem loan for Branthwaithe? Keep Mina for another year and then see how things are heading into 2022/23?}

3.) 12 Mar 2021 20:47:10
Mina wouldn’t be top of my list to move on but if we sold a centre back I feel he would be the one to go
Still seeing lots of rumours of this Gleison Bremer but I think we would need to pay over the odds for him.

4.) 12 Mar 2021 21:21:37
Would move them all on not good enough for our Team.

5.) 12 Mar 2021 22:39:55
Can’t see them all going, we are set to lose Walcott, Bolasie, Besic, Pennington, Virginia, Connolly and Bowler all contracts expiring
Then these will all be out in 2022 so might see some of those moved on from Sigurdsson Bernard Tosun Delph Kenny Bamingime Gibson, will be a challenge for Brands trying to move players on and also improve the squad.

6.) 13 Mar 2021 12:53:15
Agree with Ed77 on the CB's. I'd really like Delph gone (really disappointing)

7.) 13 Mar 2021 14:30:33
It's frightening how many players we still have at the club who contribute absolutely nothing. Sooner they are gone the sooner this club can move on.

Van Dijk would cost a lot more than Koulibaly and is a much better defender. Assuming he comes back from injury the same.

I’d like to have 2 good young centre backs instead of Godfrey and a guy who’d cost a lot of money, be on massive wages and we’d have to replace in 3 years

He’s a good centre back, not a world beater.

Will cost a lot of money for a 29 year old. We have 2 good centre backs, an inconsistently incredible centre back and Holgate. If we are going to get another centre back to play alongside Godfrey I’d want someone a bit younger.

Not sure it matters tbh. Not sure many people actually expected it to go ahead.

England don’t bother me but they need a better manager.

None of them. When all are fit it depends who we play. Next season we need a new first choice right back. Someone young with pace and energy. We are crying out for it.

I mean when we buy direct wingers who can only run and cross. McGeady, Bolasie, Walcott, Bernard etc.

I’m not saying we need someone without width, we can still get that from a left footed right winger. We need a good all rounder playing there. Not just another fast fella who doesn’t create anything.

I wouldn’t be opposed to him playing after the break. He did nothing wrong against City and from what I remember, was rated quite decently at Arsenal before we got him.

We need a right winger who can do a bit of everything. But we do need a left footed right winger. Someone with pace who can open teams up. Getting another fast crosser sounds wonderful in theory but never works in practice, at least it doesn’t for us. Leon Bailey has been mentioned, not seen a lot of him, but someone of that ilk would be perfect.

James is the man in terms of how good he is, let’s not get it confused because he’s injury prone, the man is absolute quality. We got away with him on the right at the start of the season when everyone was fit and Coleman was playing like prime Phillip Lahm. But it would be great if when he does play, we have him in the middle, with options left and right. When he’s injured, that’s when our right winger comes in because we won’t be lacking creativity or someone who will open the pitch up.
