Anyone else think we should take a punt on poku from Peterborough? Lad looks like he has potential and no one better than Moyes at getting the best out of a lower league gem. Sure he is out of contract too so fee should be minimal so in this day and age would be relatively risk free. Ed have you heard any thing?

Rlchris1982

{Ed001's Note - he is after a team that will start him regularly, that is not going to happen at Everton. He has a few options, but you aren't one of them mate.}

Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

Apparently denayer from city wants to move on with otamendi joining.
Would take him in a heartbeat. Young and was arguably a better performer then van dijk last season for Celtic and everyone on here seems desperate for us to get him!
Guessing he wouldn't be too expensive either which would suit bill and the board down to the ground!

Owen Coyle on talksport about 10. 30 saying Kone expected to leave this week and EFC is his preference. Looks like a done deal. Good player but doesn't help with the average squad age! let's hope it's a decent price

Rlchris1982

1.) Good player?. please debate.

As for price, that will be a minimum of 5 million.

2.) Why is he not a good player? quick, strong & more importantly SCORES goals. what is the point in having a low average age? surely its about ability and not age

3.) So what if he is 29, if he can bang in goals for 2-3 seasons, better than having neville on the books and doing f**k all

4.) I hate fans who are so concerned about age, he's 29 not 50, you can't just bye a 18 year old no good for next season

5.) Point is he's 29 and and DOESN'T bang in goals.6mil off everton. Whelan has done well.

6.) The fans who say "I hate fans who are so concerned about age" are completely missing the point, normally we would not be bothered about signing a couple older players, but it's the fact that we have about the 2nd oldest squad in the Premier League, and we don't want to add to that and become the oldest squad! A list of the players who are over 27 (including Alcaraz and Kone if they sign)

Mucha, Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Distin, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Osman, Pienaar, Hitzlsperger, Jelavic & Kone

We should be aiming to get younger players, and fans who "hate fans who are so concerned about age" seem to think this means 17/18 year olds. Well it doesn't, it means younger than the likes of Kone & Alcaraz.

7.) I thought mucha and 'der hammer' had been released?

Wonder why no one has gone for oshimen. He would be perfect he scores for fun. Appreciate wages might be big but then galatasaray got him so surely we could do something, even if a loan? Being linked with grealish and his wages are almost double what oshimen earns I believe and apparently the lad is desperate to show what he can do in the prem. At 26 if he performs there would be resale value too. Come on blues what a statement signing he would be for the new stadium!

He’ll hold out for a top team, long way to go in the window yet.

15 Feb 2025 20:06:57
Very quiet from all the I don't want Moyes back brigade! Guy is the messiah and no one else could have turned us around like this. I know it won't continue the players aren't good enough, but give the messiah a few windows and he will find more gems like he always does and Europe will be back on the agenda give him 3 years max.

1.) 15 Feb 2025 20:35:00
Just stop. Try enjoying the run and support the team. Don’t need smart arse know it alls thanks.

2.) 15 Feb 2025 20:40:37
The players are fine for a mid table team and one that can win a dozen or more times a season and throw in 8-12 draws. This was always my problem with the previous moron. And a brilliant example of why it's not hoof ball park the bus or tippy tappy but somewhere in the middle of possession, keep the ball but play it long when it's on, football basically. A few nuances have changed and what a difference. A depleted squad and an away win against a Palace that'll be disappointed. DM is perfect for this period and will be a solid foundation layer going forward. Hope he does 2 or 3 seasons and more if he continues to improve us. I didn't champion him but welcomed him as an obvious improvement upon the last regime. Anyone who still flies a flag of woe me about how he left should really get a life. Great month.

3.) 15 Feb 2025 20:43:46
R82 I am one! Becos of how he left us in pocket of Utd!
But in terms of not wanting him back this season in position I was SO wrong.
Moyes already deserves 2 1/ 2 year contract just keeping us up and already all Blues (even fellow doubters) want SAVEY DAVEY to lead us in Bramley Moors Dock and future glory!

4.) 15 Feb 2025 21:29:53
I won't trust him to keep our top players after him telling us how he thinks and I still don't like him.

However, he seems like he's learnt some humility on his time away from us and hope it continues.

I hope he wins more trophies than anyone in our history and will sing and back him all the way.

People can have opinions and still want the best for the club.

5.) 16 Feb 2025 10:51:11
Don't be silly, he's not the "messiah" he's just a good manager who knows how to get the best out of the players he has.
To say the players aren't good enough is a little strange given the results since we changed manager.
Perhaps the real reason is that under the old manager many of these players were not allowed to express themselves, and instead had to play to a rigid system. Or they simply didn't even get picked.
Early days yet, and only time will tell if we have chosen the right manager. I for one would be more than happy to admit I was wrong because that would mean the team was getting continuing to improve, and as a blue that's all I ask for.

Well I think that's us done. Just cannot see how we stay up. Against a terrible Liverpool we were completely outfought and not one player came out of that game with any credit whatsoever. The players are so poor and wouldn't be surprised if we got relegated from the championship as well when we go down. They are so slow with no one having the ability to pass a ball 10 yards it's embarrassing never seen a more sorry bunch in my life. If that had been the Liverpool of a few years back they would have scored 10.

Rlchris1982

1.) 13 Feb 2023 22:16:48
You're not kidding. The team that played against Arsenal never showed up! We will never score a goal from open play either. Two big games coming up next. If we don't win against Leeds and Villa we are doomed.

2.) 13 Feb 2023 22:20:19
Proves the Arsenal game was just a new manager bounce. Players genuinely couldn’t care less if we go down, will be good for a few of them who want to leave anyway.

The most embarrassing performance I’ve seen at Anfield. Worse than any under Martinez, worse than the FA Cup loss against their under 16s. Awful awful awful.

3.) 13 Feb 2023 22:26:35
I think saying they were terrible is completely wrong. Just Sod’s Law they picked tonight to play with the intensity and cutting edge they have done the last few years.

Don’t get me wrong, we were the polar opposite of how we looked against Arsenal. Last weekend it felt like we won every second ball and created really good chances from open play. From the first minute Liverpool went at us and we looked terrified tonight.

Saying that we’ve got three points out of two games I thought we’d struggle to get one from. The most important games were always the next three or four after these two, but we can’t afford to play like we did tonight.

4.) 13 Feb 2023 23:09:04
Agree WindsorBlue. I'd go further. Don't think we were polar opposite of Arsenal game. Not as good definitely but still better than before Dyche came in.

Unfortunate hoe they scored the first. They were always going to be up for the game. People would of been happy with 2 points from the 2 games. We got 3. Not bad if ya ask me.

Thought Tar's passing was really bad at times and Simms could of done a lot more running. Even though I thought more long balls to him would of been better. Never looked threatening trying to play it up the field.

Still well improved from 2 weeks ago. Think we'll pick up points over the next few games.

5.) 13 Feb 2023 23:14:29
Wind it in fellas, this is an adults forum. They should smash us every week on paper. Tarks’ header goes in and it’s a different game.

6.) 13 Feb 2023 23:22:02
Typical Everton. Get your hopes up last week, pull your pants down and finger you this week. I honestly don’t see us staying up, even after the win last week! So many weaknesses in our team.

13 Aug 2022 23:17:41
I'm sorry but if frank loses to forest he has to go before it's too late. He can't organise a defence and hasn't improved the team at all since taking over. I like the guy but let's be real, us fans got us over the line last season and frank and his backroom haven't improved us one bit.
I know it's practically impossible but pochettino is available so I would do anything to bring him in. I know everyone will say no chance but who thought Carlo would come before he signed? If we don't move whilst he is available we will never get someone of his quality and he improves players and plays the football we all want to see whilst not needing to invest heavily (PSG aside but that was out of his control anyway)

Rlchris1982

1.) 14 Aug 2022 08:47:47
This is an awful post, you should be sorry. ‘Frank and his back room staff haven’t proved us one bit’? Well that’s bs.
Wanting Pochettino also means you’re on a cloud somewhere. Two difficult opening fixtures and there’s obvious signs of improvement. Before these two games I personally would have give us 0 points out of them, 1 if we were lucky and we did come close in both games. I’d like to see how we do as a team in the fixtures where we are expected to pick up some points rather than rip it all up and start again …. AGAIN.

2.) 14 Aug 2022 08:52:35
You having a laff? Defensively been so much better than last season, especially set. pieces.

Midfield been a lot. better too and with onana, who's going to be a star, we should be fine.

We do need to add a striker or two and we will be comfortably mid table.

Only 2 games gone, another 36 to go. Stop worrying.

{Ed025's Note - I am firmly in your camp Geoff..

3.) 14 Aug 2022 10:42:12
Agree I'm firmly behind lampard. Don't get the mcneil signing but I think he has improved us and we will be ok this season. Fairly optimistic.

4.) 14 Aug 2022 11:16:40
After 2 games you can’t say we’re defensively worse off, we conceded 2 good goals yesterday, last season it would have been an own goal and a Holgate clearance straight onto Keane’s backside and into the goal. It was a comedy of errors last season. We look more organised and solid, they just need to gel more. Coady, Tarkowski and Holgate have literally played 1 game together. I see us mid to lower mid table this season.

5.) 14 Aug 2022 15:06:03
Let's have a look after 8 games and then take a balanced approach.

05 Aug 2022 14:05:41
Can any of the Ed's tell me what onana is like? Sounds very similar to doucoure but with very limited first team experience feels like an awful lot of money tconsidering our financial position.

He couldn't have anyone better than Gana and frank to learn off but the deal sounds like far too much for me.

Hoping for once we have a gem and are not being fleeced like normal!

Rlchris1982

{Ed077's Note - sorry can't help much mate. But him "choosing" Everton over WHU is a good start for you guys.

1.) 05 Aug 2022 17:41:00
I've never seen the lad play in all honesty but he seems to have a lot of people within the game bigging him up. One report says that he had some big European teams after him but he wants to play under Lampard and form a partnership with IGG. Whether we can believe that is another thing! As ed077 days, the lad has chosen to sign for us, that's a good start.

2.) 05 Aug 2022 19:56:20
Heard he wants to play alongside Tom Davies! Was a story from the Daily Sport mind.

3.) 05 Aug 2022 20:59:17
You would think a Doucoure/ Davies partnership would take but no luck.

4.) 05 Aug 2022 23:08:22
RIchris - I wouldn't say he is like Doucoure mate. He is a bit of a throwback midfielder for me. Comfortable sitting as a 6 but i think with Gana brought in and a little bit older, i think he should play the 8.

It seems a bit of a waste of his physical and athletic capabilities to just have him sat. We should utilise him as a box to box. He is a great tackler. He is strong, shields the ball well. For a big fella he is quite fast too.

Technique in terms of striking the ball is clean and precise and has good feet.

Considering some of the deals that go on in todays market, 33 million is a great price for him. He turns 21 in a few days so has great scope to get better and who better than Frank to guide him.

I don't envisage us keeping hold of him for more than a season or 2 as he is that good and will get snapped up by the big teams.

Hopeful we are finally doing business properly behind closed doors so we can’t be held to ransom. Too often in the past we conducted our chases in public and ended up having our pants pulled down. Fingers crossed we are doing things properly now and will only hear about it once signed sealed and delivered so we cannot be let down.

Isn’t he 30 this year? No real experience outside of France which isn’t exactly the most competitive league. I am hoping we move away from this type of signing unless he is a cheap stop gap until we can get in someone young with potential that has resale value.

I have no idea what people want! Moyes turned West Ham around and look at them now he has left! Be careful what you wish for. Yes his football isn’t brilliant and we lost to the big 4, but I would take anything close to what he did previous compared to what Dyche was serving up! Who are these so called wonder managers people think will actually join us and win us the league? You are on another planet! Just because we love the club, we are bang average and no decent manager wants to come anywhere near until all FFP issues are fully resolved. Moyes is quality everyone only hates him because he chose to leave for at the time the biggest job in the country, if not the world. Who can blame him? He fell short because Everton is his level we should be pleased he would even consider it. He has won a European trophy. And before everyone starts belittling it, I would take anything close to a trophy any day, especially as we look more like a championship side than a team that will ever win anything.

Rlchris1982
