See the league have declined our request to postpone burnley game. Apparently one of the "fit and available" players is DCL who is just back training after 3 months out. Literally zero integrity about the premier League but think they give roughly zero Fu*ks. If dcl has to play and gets injured hope the money obsessed premier League will pay his wages whilst he's out. Utter disgrace, just makes a total farce of the league.

1.) 23 Dec 2021 14:07:42
Go easy on the egg nog mate.

2.) 23 Dec 2021 14:23:41
Well hopefully Rafa will not play him unless he is 100% ready. We have the kids who looked good against Chelsea and as a last resort we have Rondon. On second thoughts let's hope Burnley put in a request for postponement, they are bound to be successful.

3.) 23 Dec 2021 15:05:37
Yet they allowed City to cancel 'just as their bad patch hit' how surprising.

4.) 23 Dec 2021 16:16:04
This desision boarders on the illegal, it should be the same rules for everyone.
It does come as no surprise, we have always come out on the wrong side of official rulings, it really is time we started to stand up for ourselves, better lawyers, as well as better players .

5.) 23 Dec 2021 16:32:05
doe's seem strange that teams like City who have a massive squad can get cancellations. Yet teams like our's with threadbare squads are made to continue. Slightly baffling.

6.) 23 Dec 2021 17:01:05
Premier league motto regarding Everton has always been f*** em.
Gather the bus driver can play and all the behind the scenes hangers on.

7.) 23 Dec 2021 17:50:49
Can anyone answer this question.
Who are on this committee that have turned down Everton's request for a postponement.
If we are privy to this information we might be able to work out who's interests they are operating in, it's not evetons, it's not football, so is it the broadcasters, or are there more selfinteresting motives. ?

8.) 23 Dec 2021 17:58:15
Don't be daft he will play Rondon.

9.) 23 Dec 2021 23:09:42
It will be all about the money and not wanting to have to pay Amazon back the shed load of money they’ve paid for the games
A rearranged date won’t be as attractive or lucrative.

10.) 24 Dec 2021 06:48:13
I think you're bang on ST.

Now people can correct me if I'm wrong but from watching the press conference this is what I understand the situation to be.

For the game to go ahead you need 13 outfield players plus 1 keeper.

Everton have fit; 11 outfield players and 3 keepers. 6 injured outfield players and 5 outfield players with Corona. So they are changing the rules, it's a joke.

Above in this thread people are talking about not playing DCL well as one of our fit 11 outfield players he might not have any choice. Of our 11 other fit outfield players 5 are under the ages of 20. So I believe that is; Simms, Dobbin, branthwaitte, Onyango and another? Not sure who else we have.

So to not start DCL we will have to start with 4 players who have never played a full 90 in the PL and 1 that has only played 1 90 in the PL with only DCL on the subs bench plus 2 keepers.

Out of the 11 fit out field players and least 3 are strikers (not knowing who the fit senior players are) DCL, Simms, Dobbin. But rondon and cenk might be fit. So we have 11 outfield players and 5 of them could be strikers and we are being forced to play.

To be honest it's absolutely pathetic and the premier League are shameful. If this was one of their favourites like city Liverpool utd Chelsea there is no way this game would go ahead if they had a squad in the situation ours is in.

11.) 24 Dec 2021 08:25:27
Seems like double standards when other games on the same day have already been postponed due to C.V.

12.) 24 Dec 2021 11:36:01
Just seen on the Everton insta page it has been called off due to injuries and C.V. At least they saw sense in the end.

13.) 24 Dec 2021 15:55:10
Think it was also that they realised people didn’t want to be miserable over Christmas period, so decided having to watch Burnley v Everton wouldn’t be a good idea. Putting Mary Poppins on instead, magic.

26 May 2021 19:45:18
Apparently Nathan Broadhead getting a new 2 year deal. Nothing against the lad at all (I've barely seen him play which says a lot) but he's 23 years old and has barely had a sniff of first team football even though we haven't been able to fill the bench half the time. I might be being harsh but just feels like a repeat of likes of Garbutt and Pennington that we end up paying to their mid to late 20s and they never do anything.

1.) 27 May 2021 02:48:41
Maybe we’ll sell him this summer or maybe the club thing he’ll be a late bloomer.

2.) 27 May 2021 07:16:53
Yea maybe mate - And to be fair look where Jamie Vardy was at 23. Guess it's just the history with the others I mentioned that made me think are we just too desperate for someone to come through that we hang onto players that aren't really good enough!

3.) 27 May 2021 09:04:19
We have a squad of players that don't fit in with CAs idea of how we should be playing. I presume he see's Broadhead as a player with the attributes that he requires and hope he will improve, therefore wants him to stay. Whether or not he will make it only time will tell. He may just end up a squad player on the bench and then be sold. It may also help our financial situation as we may be able to go for players that will make a difference to the 1st team rather than compromise and bring in a 1st team and a squad player in the same position with limited funds. I personally think we have been over paying for players that are in effect squad players not 1st team starters and not enough due diligence was done with some of our signings hence the considerable amount of money spent for minimal return. That and the numerous management changes.

4.) 27 May 2021 21:41:50
I absolutely think we should fill the bench with the likes of Broadhead, Gordon, Onyango, Nkyoiyou rather than the useless dross we currently deploy.

Replace the 7 or 8 squad players and salaries with 3 or 4 absolute quality first team starters. Use youth to fill the gaps, we don't have huge game commitments anyway.

07 Mar 2021 19:34:49
Anyone heard anything about the doucoure rumours? Broken foot and out for the season?

1.) 07 Mar 2021 20:17:22
Hope not. If so who did he kick and how are they doing?

2.) 08 Mar 2021 17:01:22
Looks like it’s true as he’s not in the squad today.

3.) 12 Mar 2021 20:44:39
From the press conference today Carlo says he has a fracture and out for 8-10 weeks I think
Not confirmed if stress fracture or impact, quite a loss I feel.

4.) 12 Mar 2021 22:52:31
Yea massive loss that isn't it. Not the news we needed for the last 2 months of the sesson but hopefully Davies can consistently perform the way he has done in a couple of recent games as that would go a long way to filling the void.

5.) 13 Mar 2021 08:36:11
Massive opportunity for Davies.

6.) 12 Mar 2021 19:13:50
8-10 weeks out. Hats off to you TD you were spot on. One of best info that's been on here.

7.) 13 Mar 2021 14:35:59
Better than the Riquelme sightings? 😳.

19 Feb 2020 07:24:56
Ed002 I appreciate this may be a bit of a vague question so shoot me down if you have no idea. But you've nentioned player sales would be needed to help towards ffp, do you gave any idea who we might be looking to, or happy to, sell? And is there any interest in any of them?!

{Ed002's Note - Aside from the fringe players who do not have significant value, nope. Obviously there is money in the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin.}

1.) 19 Feb 2020 09:29:23
Happy for either or both of those to go tbh. Sigurdsson has just been too inconsistent since we bought him, the odd fantastic game then nothing for weeks.

2.) 19 Feb 2020 16:02:30
Cheers Ed. Yea agree gibbo. Not convinced we'd get much for either but at least something plus massive wages off the books! Sickening to think siggy schneiderlin Walcott and sandro costs us somewhere near half a million a week and none of them are good enough!

3.) 19 Feb 2020 17:21:51
My best memory of Sig’s was that wonder goal against Leicester, I couldn’t get tickets in the away end so had to sit with the Leicester fans. I had to look annoyed when it rifled in. 😂.

01 May 2022 18:33:33
Absolutely tremendous win. Pickford was outstanding - not just the brilliant saves but came a couple of times and took the ball (something I often criticise him for not doing! ) . Massive performance from him when we desperately needed it!

04 Mar 2022 15:58:03
Good to get through last night. Performance wasn't there but who cares in a cup match just get the job done!
On seeing the team sheet I couldn't help but have a big sigh of relief that Rafa benitez isn't still our manager - think if he'd selected Rondon and left dobbin on the bench against non-league team then goodison might have been burned to the ground ???.

26 Feb 2022 20:01:37
What is there to say about that? He has not made a mistake, it is clear and obvious cheating. He has multiple replays and it is a blatant penalty - not just in our view either, have had mates supporting a variety of clubs texting their disbelief about that.
It is a disgrace. Kavanagh is a cheat and should be ashamed of himself.

That farce aside though, pathetic goal to concede. Coleman let's ball come across too easily as ever, holgate lazily sticks out a leg, Keane embarrassing. Those 3 make mistakes so regularly it's no surprise. They have cost us a lot of points this season and will continue to do so whilst they are at the football club.

1.) 26 Feb 2022 20:45:25
I agree wholeheartedly with this, we need to get rid of all 3 and add Kenny and Iwobi. NSNO.

2.) 26 Feb 2022 21:13:52
Sorry gents I’m a big critic of all 3, but they were really good the whole game today and it was just unfortunate one mistake cost us.

The amount of pressure we were soaking up in the second half amazed it didn’t happen sooner.

Hopefully the team take heart from the performance - which I think is best I’ve seen the team play in a long while - rather than dwell on the result and robbery by the officials.

{Ed025's Note - im with you dan, proud of the guys today mate..

3.) 26 Feb 2022 21:21:08
Even if it was a mistake it’s still handball.

4.) 26 Feb 2022 21:52:41
Dollo- I was referring to their goal as the mistake.

5.) 26 Feb 2022 22:39:53
I'm a huge critic of those players as everybody is aware. However I feel like that particular moment is nitpicking as they played well.

6.) 26 Feb 2022 23:39:08
Tiredness and brutally unlucky for Kean. He is deservingly target if fan flack but that was just unlucky, he was wrong footed and didn't he didn't have time to adjust. Handball decision was criminal. I've been proud that our game had avoided any on field scandals of match fixing etc the last 20 or so years but that was such a ridiculous decision that must be investigated because there is no excuse other than cheating. We deserved a point after the 1st half counter attack display and Pickford saves. Thought we played well and if we can take the positive, we will be ok.

7.) 27 Feb 2022 06:38:47
I would take 17th now mate and would say I agree with you if all our games are at home. Our away form us more than worrying though, it is that going to hurt us. We need to get above those falling above us and hold.

8.) 27 Feb 2022 07:17:04
He did have time to adjust, he just didn't adjust in time. I agree the lads mentioned largely played well - but again that's why we're where we are because even when they play well they concede a goal like that. And our standards are now so low that we think it's great that they were mainly good and only cost us 1 goal through woeful defending.
Call it nitpicking or whatever you like, fact is we would have drawn that game without conceding a schoolboy goal. Everyone's entitled to opinion, but mine is that settling for players where you're pleased if they only cock up for 1 goal in a game isn't the way forward!

{Ed025's Note - in our position davey we dont need to get on the players backs imo, of course they need replacing but now is the time to unite behind the boys in this battle and not destroy the little confidence they nave mate..

9.) 27 Feb 2022 07:47:22
Why was Keane embarrassing ToffeeDavey? He was off balance and weight to his left. Coleman didn't allow the ball, he was beaten, Holgate didn't stick out a leg he made a genuine effort. Some on here act as if they have never played football. It is competitive and physical 90 minutes with the body at it's extreme edge. Let's start being a little more objective, no doubt players read this stuff in and on the media. They are human.

12 Feb 2022 08:35:35
Hopefully pick up a very much needed win today! You often find when a manager is sacked the players up their game, and when new manager appointed they up their game. Unfortunately we have lost 2 out of 2 since the sacking and neither game against particularly good sides.
Our squad is very poor, and passionless on the pitch. If we can scramble to safety this year, and gradually ease the ffp burden we can start looking up again in 2 or 3 years time.

1.) 12 Feb 2022 08:52:38
Hope you are right mate reports coming out Mykolenko unavailable, so many out now.

2.) 12 Feb 2022 09:07:07
I’m sure we beat Brentford. Or did I imagine it? ??.

3.) 12 Feb 2022 09:19:45
We did jimmy but I reckon we should have sacked the cup off this year. Our focus needs to be on survival. Pug kids out in FA cup for experience - with our injuries, we will need to blood them quick.

4.) 12 Feb 2022 09:48:07
Ahh yea you're right Jimmy - hopefully those 3 points will help us stay up ?.

5.) 12 Feb 2022 10:25:04
TD, I knew you were 'sailing close to the wind' with your OP mate, I even thought to myself the crafty sod did so deliberately to catch some one out

6.) 12 Feb 2022 12:43:23
Why would you want to sack the cup?
If we do well in it it breeds confidence around the team. Gives us fans something to cheer and look forward to. Also gives frank a chance to try different players out and get them used to how he wants them to play.

There is obviously the risk of picking up injuries but that’s part and parcel of the game.

We should go all out to win the cup.

7.) 12 Feb 2022 13:38:03
Think he meant the league amd not all comps. Let's hope we sneak a win today, even if its by an awful var decision.

31 Jan 2022 16:47:23
Defy anyone to watch lampards interview and not feel optimistic and desperate to get behind him and the players. An intelligent football man, who knows all about EFC and what the fans want. Also love that as well as being passionate he comes across well and will represent the football club well.

1.) 31 Jan 2022 17:21:13
Every new manager says these things when they go to a new club but If evertonions are happy paying 40 million for Ali then wow no wonder you are we’re you are because that’s just throwing money away. He has no pace and sulks like a baby .

{Ed0666's Note - it’s deffo not £40 mill if it is then someone needs medication. Hopefully Ed’s 002 can clarify. Surely they learned their lesson from Iwobi.

2.) 31 Jan 2022 17:35:51
Tell you the truth 10 million is too much.

3.) 31 Jan 2022 18:05:00
We pay 10m after 20 games (end of season) .
Rest is paid on how he performs. If we had done that with Iwobi and a few others then we would have saved a small fortune.
Remember the lad is still only 25, and if he does get back to his old self then he will be worth a lot more than 40m.

4.) 31 Jan 2022 19:13:44
tedlfc if you are a liverpool fan why are you on our site?

{Ed025's Note - all the sites are open to everyone ST, so long as the posts are courteous and respectful mate..

5.) 31 Jan 2022 20:32:00
That's right Ed but what has Evertons business got to do with them? I certainly didn't jump on the LFC pages when they were spending £50m on Andy Carroll.

{Ed025's Note - i know mate you are above that and thats a credit to you..

6.) 31 Jan 2022 20:42:37
Surprised he even knows what lampard said to be able to comment "every manager says these things". I've never sat down and watched another clubs manager being interviewed about his new job but then I'm not a sad b*stard. All the best Ted.

Yep correct Woburn! Hopefully we get good money for the couple of half decent players and that the new DoF or whatever his title is, is infinitely more successfully than Brands at shifting some of the rubbish we signed on crazy contracts!

I disagree with that Geoff. Think richys work rate and commitment is excellent, and he does show intensity most of the time. I'm not sure if you're getting him confused with DCL as he is the one that trots around the pitch contributing absolutely nothing and only "closes down" as a box ticking exercise - presumably thinks he's above grafting off the ball.

One last thing on this. when it comes to losing them for nothing, I don't think we were knocking back offers for them. Look where they are both playing football now and ask yourself why? Why did nobody in the top 10 (or 20!) leagues in the world show any interest in them, even for free?

Spot on there Bluepotato. We got rid of two highest earners and replaced them for buttons - and we're on track to score at least as many goals as last season even though centre forward been injured all season. The issue is we can't defend and make huge number of individual errors.
The way I see it, now that Rafa is gone they can't blame him and have to accept the playing squad isn't up to scratch - so in order to still hound Rafa need to move onto his transfer business.
As I've said before, we got 19 pts from 19 games with Rafa - if we match that we'll stay up. We've now got the centre forward fit and have signed two new midfielders so if Rafa was so bad we should now absolutely cruise to safety, surely?

I'm with Yorkblue. They needed to win Sunday even if they won tonight but would have been going into the game with confidence. Now they aren't, and if spurs can get an early goal that could potentially create negative/ despondent atmosphere at the Emirates. Ultimately it's up to us to perform and do what we need to do but I certainly don't think tonight's result is a bad thing.

It's a disgrace. It is as clear a shirt pull as you will ever see - we should go 2 up with 11 men still on the pitch and we would now be safe. Oliver and VAR should be asked to explain the reasoning that they did not consider that to be a foul. Oliver should also be asked how the foul for our actual penalty was not a second bookable offence.

Yea he really is - has had a huge amount to deal with in his short time at the club but looks a very good player to me. January business might turn out to be not too bad - Digne replaced by 2 young full backs at no cost (i. e. his fee and wages covered the replacement plus the young right back! ) .
I think he already looks better defensively than Digne. Going forward, Digne has 2 assists this season and Myko has 1 goal and 1 assist since being slowly introduced from January.
