Apparently Nathan Broadhead getting a new 2 year deal. Nothing against the lad at all (I've barely seen him play which says a lot) but he's 23 years old and has barely had a sniff of first team football even though we haven't been able to fill the bench half the time. I might be being harsh but just feels like a repeat of likes of Garbutt and Pennington that we end up paying to their mid to late 20s and they never do anything.

1.) 27 May 2021 02:48:41
Maybe we’ll sell him this summer or maybe the club thing he’ll be a late bloomer.

2.) 27 May 2021 07:16:53
Yea maybe mate - And to be fair look where Jamie Vardy was at 23. Guess it's just the history with the others I mentioned that made me think are we just too desperate for someone to come through that we hang onto players that aren't really good enough!

3.) 27 May 2021 09:04:19
We have a squad of players that don't fit in with CAs idea of how we should be playing. I presume he see's Broadhead as a player with the attributes that he requires and hope he will improve, therefore wants him to stay. Whether or not he will make it only time will tell. He may just end up a squad player on the bench and then be sold. It may also help our financial situation as we may be able to go for players that will make a difference to the 1st team rather than compromise and bring in a 1st team and a squad player in the same position with limited funds. I personally think we have been over paying for players that are in effect squad players not 1st team starters and not enough due diligence was done with some of our signings hence the considerable amount of money spent for minimal return. That and the numerous management changes.

4.) 27 May 2021 21:41:50
I absolutely think we should fill the bench with the likes of Broadhead, Gordon, Onyango, Nkyoiyou rather than the useless dross we currently deploy.

Replace the 7 or 8 squad players and salaries with 3 or 4 absolute quality first team starters. Use youth to fill the gaps, we don't have huge game commitments anyway.

Anyone heard anything about the doucoure rumours? Broken foot and out for the season?

ToffeeDavey

1.) 07 Mar 2021 20:17:22
Hope not. If so who did he kick and how are they doing?

2.) 08 Mar 2021 17:01:22
Looks like it’s true as he’s not in the squad today.

3.) 12 Mar 2021 20:44:39
From the press conference today Carlo says he has a fracture and out for 8-10 weeks I think
Not confirmed if stress fracture or impact, quite a loss I feel.

4.) 12 Mar 2021 22:52:31
Yea massive loss that isn't it. Not the news we needed for the last 2 months of the sesson but hopefully Davies can consistently perform the way he has done in a couple of recent games as that would go a long way to filling the void.

5.) 13 Mar 2021 08:36:11
Massive opportunity for Davies.

6.) 12 Mar 2021 19:13:50
8-10 weeks out. Hats off to you TD you were spot on. One of best info that's been on here.

7.) 13 Mar 2021 14:35:59
Better than the Riquelme sightings? 😳.

19 Feb 2020 07:24:56
Ed002 I appreciate this may be a bit of a vague question so shoot me down if you have no idea. But you've nentioned player sales would be needed to help towards ffp, do you gave any idea who we might be looking to, or happy to, sell? And is there any interest in any of them?!

ToffeeDavey

{Ed002's Note - Aside from the fringe players who do not have significant value, nope. Obviously there is money in the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin.}

1.) 19 Feb 2020 09:29:23
Happy for either or both of those to go tbh. Sigurdsson has just been too inconsistent since we bought him, the odd fantastic game then nothing for weeks.

2.) 19 Feb 2020 16:02:30
Cheers Ed. Yea agree gibbo. Not convinced we'd get much for either but at least something plus massive wages off the books! Sickening to think siggy schneiderlin Walcott and sandro costs us somewhere near half a million a week and none of them are good enough!

3.) 19 Feb 2020 17:21:51
My best memory of Sig’s was that wonder goal against Leicester, I couldn’t get tickets in the away end so had to sit with the Leicester fans. I had to look annoyed when it rifled in. 😂.

Hopefully whoever we end up signing, if anyone, will get backed by the fans. After all, there was a fair bit of negativity about gray and Townsend and they don't appear to have started too badly.
Very early days of course, but interesting that lots of fans were disappointed with Rafa and used negative football as reason (strange when we had ancelotti before, the most negative, pedestrian football I have ever witnessed) and we've scored 7 goals in 3 games! Last year we averaged 1.2 goals per game. Feel really confident that rafa will manage to keep us mid table whilst not spending much and slashing huge sums off the wage bill.

ToffeeDavey

1.) 28 Aug 2021 18:04:24
Not to mention the negativity towards Rafa also.

25 May 2021 18:16:37
Excellent article in the echo from Michael Ball - saying it as it is in terms of quality, effort and desire. Its going to be incredibly difficult to attract top players this summer - I just hope if we can't get top players in their prime we go for younger, hungrier players rather than great players coming towards the latter years of their career and looking for a juicy contract.

ToffeeDavey

1.) 25 May 2021 18:59:33
I think we need a bit of a mix of all the 3 groups you mentioned, TD. Obviuosly, without the mercenaries. We lack players that could be classed as leaders so I wouldn't mind too much if that kind of player is over 30. They would still need to be of decent quality. Will be a tough window but I still expect better players to come in, we'll find out soon enough eh.

2.) 25 May 2021 19:47:42
Yea very good point about lack of leaders. When we go a goal down everyone just sort of slumps and there's nobody geeing them up or barking instructions etc.

3.) 25 May 2021 20:51:25
1 or 2 'experienced' players needed al a Gray and Reid.

{Ed0666's Note - Andy Gray and Peter Reid would walk into you’re team now mate 😂

4.) 25 May 2021 20:52:18
Exactly, TD, we've been missing that kind of character for a long time.

5.) 25 May 2021 21:34:12
I think the list of players to keep from this season is a lot shorter than that of to sell.
Only players to keep would be Pickford, digne, Godfrey, possibly Keane, Coleman, Doucoure, Allan, DCL Ricky, and James when he can (mainly for global appeal. ) I would sell the rest to the highest bidder and start new. That's only 10 players so I guess CA will have to get his boots back on. If we can buy well this season I really think we have a shot at Europe next year. But need to bring in 5 quality players to breathe down the neck of the players listed above, because all of them had a poor end to the season. Even DCL couldn't be arsed half the time.

We have a hell of a job on our hands getting rid of them though. The bloody wages the dead weight are on, no one else will pay it.

6.) 26 May 2021 01:50:36
To me I think it will depend on the money available and what we want to achieve
Is it better to buy 4 players at 50m or 8 at 25m. Are the 50m players actually that much better than the 25m players. I think we have a weak squad - would we be better strengthening it rather than just strengthening the first 11
We need leaders but they don't necessarily have to old to be leaders, Grealish is a leader at Aston Villa, Maddison at Leicester, where's the next - we need them
Personally I don't want Koulibally at 50m = I'd prefer another 3 Nkounkous or 2 Godfreys
At the end of the day it will be up to CA and MB. On top of that they need to get rid of as much of the old guard that they can. THey won't be able to rid of them all but Iwobi, Sigurdson, Gomes, Delph, Besic, Bernard, Kenny are on that list for me (all the ones we shout out a cry of frustration when we see them on the team sheet or coming on as a sub) . Coleman I would keep as backup and because I think he is a better leader/ inspiration off the pitch than he's proved to be on it. I also don't see Holgate or Davies as Premiership quality but being pragmatic they can fill the squad so if they are happy to be stand ins (why they would be worries me) maybe we should let them.

{Ed0666's Note - a 50 million pound player is only a 50 million pound player if a club pays that fee. There’s gonna be bargains galore this transfer window especially in the French league.

7.) 26 May 2021 02:11:45
Agree ED and we need to be grabbing them up - not the big names on big money.

{Ed0666's Note - I think there’s a lot of decent players who are affordable for Everton around like Caletta Carr. I’m sure a fee of up to 30 million would secure his services and give him a hundred odd grand a week I don’t see no reason why he wouldn’t sign for you. Or say Sven Botman same thing. These players would elevate you and who you would recoup you’re money at least if you sold them on in the future.

8.) 26 May 2021 05:30:29
You might be a red ED but I'd sign you up (never liked redheads before)
Just to illustrate my ignorance though I don't know the 2 you've mentioned but will look them up.

01 May 2021 22:44:04
They were missing by far and away their best player which probably gave us false hope. Alas, the far better team won. We are very poor in every way and display no heart whatsoever. I cannot begin to fathom what goes on on the training ground. We are not improving technically, defensively or offensively. I made my peace with the truly diabolical state of our club and playing staff quite a while ago - nothing surprises me anymore. As long as they get their obscene pay checks they are happy.

We might be a total laughing stock on the football side of things, but we can and should continue to be incredibly proud of EITC - it is the single positive thing about Everton football club, but what a positive it is and frankly far more important than whenever a bunch of arrogant prima donnas win a game of footy!

ToffeeDavey

{Ed0666's Note - Are we ready to have the Carlo out conversation Davie.?

Just let go of my bt sport subscription - anyone know a good stream for watching the match?

ToffeeDavey

1.) 08 Mar 2021 13:44:00
if you have a firestick look into eye pee tee vee bud £50 a year for everything.

2.) 08 Mar 2021 13:47:32
Aside from a dodgy fire stick the best bet is to type in Everton vs . stream and you’ll always find a quality link.

Haven’t used them for a while but releasesky.com always used to be reliable as well.

3.) 08 Mar 2021 15:14:34
Cheers lads.

4.) 08 Mar 2021 15:29:19
Super sport mate.

5.) 08 Mar 2021 16:48:46
Supersport bein sports Optus now sports plus many more as long as you don't have to listen to the LFC lovefest on bt sport's 😂😂.

6.) 08 Mar 2021 17:35:37
If youve got an android then download "live football streaming hd" never had a problem with it. It should have red arrow heads on the pic, 1 pointing left and 1 pointing right 👌.

7.) 08 Mar 2021 17:39:31
Depends what you're watching it on mate. hesgoals dot com always have streams but they can be a pain getting rid of the ads and pop-ups.

Planning application approved!

1.) 23 Feb 2021 15:16:38
I watched the whole thing and the professionalism from our club was wonderful the committee all congratulated the club on how amazing the presentation was and any queries raised were answered straight away and just before the vote a couple of the committee actually had a few things to say about the world heritage association and how they would be happy to leave the city derelict. We should be very proud of the club for what they have done.

2.) 23 Feb 2021 18:44:23
Very true, a very professional job. I can't understand how anyone in their right minds can agree with the world heritage association, who actually goes to see the site as it is now? The people objecting have probably never been close, or if they have not more than once.

3.) 23 Feb 2021 21:57:41
World heritage association are crazy for objecting and very short sighted.

We’re in an economic crisis as a country and they are worried about the infilling of the sick and its impact on heritage.

The stadium will generate much needed economic boost to the city, create jobs, support local businesses and allow new jobs and businesses to hopefully flourish.

What does the site currently bring to the city - nowt!

What's the score with the deal Ed02? Not asking for the intricacies, just wondering if we're still paying a good chunk of his wages?

ToffeeDavey

{Ed002's Note - The solution is found in Qatar with Al Rayyan - although that places Yacine Brahimi in a difficult position. James will stay in Qatar, probably on a loan until the end of March, when a decision will be made whether to make the move permanent when his contract with Everton expires at the end of June 2022. I suspect he would look again at a move to Europe as a Free Agent, but what happens between now and the end of March will determine that. He certainly will not get the financial rewards of the Middle East if he were to return to Europe.}

He is clearly a very talented player, but I felt like some selective memories going on above so I took a look at after Jan. Must have been a minor injury because he played in 4 out of 5 league matches in Feb.
March - played 0 out of 4. 6 points.
April - played 4 out of 4. 6 points.

May (we will all have views on this. Injured/ mind on copa america/ towel thrown in) but he played in one out of the 6 games in May - the loss to Sheffield United.

Kean is a really good example of how Everton football club has been run hopefully that is something that is coming to an end now that we have an experienced, knowledgable and sensible football man at the helm.
It sounds as though we may break even, or make a small loss, if everything pans out perfectly. Meanwhile Liverpool sell solanke, ibe and Co for 20m. We signed a guy who never wanted to play for us, watched him do well on loan and are now loaning him out for 2 of the last 3 years of his contract! If he does badly we'll get him back for a year. If he does well we should break even. If he does really well and fulfils potential he'll be worth at least 3 times what we're committed to selling him for.

I think sir loin was referring to the fact that they made a £30m+ profit last year which gives them a lot more room to manoeuvre in first couple of years in terms of the rolling 3 year net loss rules in ffp!

ToffeeDavey

{Ed002's Note - The initial ionvestment allowance is what makes it easier having new owners.}

I'm with Sobs on this one. Yes in theory you could win a cup after getting through 6 rounds without playing a big boy but it's pretty unlikely isn't it. Dan you say that the odds of being top 7 is smaller but that that doesn't mean it's easier. I would suggest that it does show that the professionals paid to gauge how easy/ difficult something is do think that means it's easier. Incidentally, whilst you can't get a price on top 7 the even more difficult top 6 is available at 5/ 2. We are 25/ 1 to win the FA cup. It's possible we were marginally shorter to win the league cup, but even allowing for that if you dutched the two you'd still be getting significantly more than 5/ 2.

Woburn were you anti rafa by any chance? I agree that it's too early to judge how it's looking but seen quite a few nagative posts from you about the style etc. We made a profit in the transfer window, cut the wage bill and have still started well despite that and the fact we've got injuries so in my view it's okay to feel quite positive about things! And 8 points from October would be slightly better than a good return in my opinion. We play United and West ham and would need to either beat one of them or draw against both to have a chance of reaching 8 points in the month!
