Fab Romano reporting that we're after Andreas Pereira. No where near good enough for me. We really are skint aren't we : (.

1.) 14 Aug 2021 11:22:19
To be honest, I've not seen him play. which I suppose says a lot really.
Right age but if he replaces Iwobi, then I don't care how good he is, he can't be any worse.

2.) 14 Aug 2021 13:44:25
Said to be on a loan with option to buy, I don’t mind that less risk initially.

3.) 14 Aug 2021 17:02:30
Loan to buys did us well under Moyes when we had no money. So I don’t mind taking a player on a test drive for a season.

4.) 14 Aug 2021 18:42:32

5.) 15 Aug 2021 13:12:12
Townsend and Gray for £1-2 million, the way both played yesterday could prove to be the deal of the century, because their cheap don’t mean their not any good, we have had our share of expensive flops in the past.

6.) 15 Aug 2021 18:30:12
When you think Arsenal paid over £70 mill for Pepe, who was pretty awful on Friday. You can’t help think we’ve played a blinder there.

7.) 15 Aug 2021 20:16:16
The issue with Pereira isn’t that he’s cheap, it’s that he’s crap.

11 Aug 2021 03:31:42
Small has left and is apparently joining Villa. Can't really blame him tbh as He and his family are villa fans.

they have moved way ahead of us now with their signings imo so it is what it is.

1.) 11 Aug 2021 08:39:20
How have they moved way ahead?

I don’t agree with that - if they want our third choice left back then so be it - we have x2 decent left backs at club.

We also have a top keeper, quality defensive midfielder, world class left winger and x2 youn forwards who scored over 40 goals between them last season

If we get a right back and a playmaker (or get James playing) we will have quality all over the park

Come on have some faith

Pickford
Gidfrey
Digne
Richarlison
Allan
Decore
DCL
Kean
Mina

This is the basis of a pretty decent team.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 08:46:15
It will be interesting to see how he behaves in the future if he doesn't get the amount of game time he thinks he deserves.

3.) 11 Aug 2021 09:18:30
It's not just the team that matters Sobs - it is the squad or lack of depth that kills us.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 12:03:39
Sobs the trouble with EFC is on paper they are a good squad, if overpaid. When they come on to a football pitch that's were the trouble starts, not enough of them turn up on any given day and play consistently or give 100%.

I don't hold great expectations this season. But if Rafa can make them give greater effort consistently, it will allay some of my doubts about him.

Let's be honest. Since Moyes left we have had a series of managers who have flattered to deceive. Now we are worse than we were then.

Just to clarify I'm not suggesting we go back to Moyes. But the top 6 have moved on into another stratosphere, and we have been left behind. Yes we have the promise of a new ground and greater revenue. But until we clear dead weight of the books ( that nobody wants to sign) we will have FFP over our shoulders😢.

08 Aug 2021 20:55:54
Joe willock for less than what we have them for Iwobi. Make you wonder what the bloody hell Marcel was playing at.

1.) 08 Aug 2021 21:41:54
To be perfectly honest I think Marcel gets away with a lot, he never seems to get any criticism.

{Ed025's Note - i think he is starting to now chris..

2.) 08 Aug 2021 22:45:25
We need to remember that Moshiri has had advisors that weren’t in tune with the DoF. I wouldn’t be quick to blame Brands knowing this.

3.) 08 Aug 2021 23:05:33
Agree TA - unless we know who was responsible for which transfer it’s going to be hard to criticise Brands.

With the so called advisors Moshiri has been listening to they could easily be responsible for all the rubbish signings or not?

We’ll never know unfortunately.

4.) 08 Aug 2021 23:06:48
Tbf mate considering what Brand’s job is. If he didn’t go ape shiz (and I’m assuming he didn’t as he signed a new contract) . when Mosh’s advisors insisted we bought Iwobi, Klassen, Siggurdson, Delph on big wages/ fees then Brands has a big part to play in the blame.

The 500mill we've spent in the last 5 years has absolutely ruined us. Any kid who plays fifa career mode would’ve done a better job spending 500mill.

5.) 08 Aug 2021 23:37:37
Fat Chris, I have been saying for a while now, Everton have gone backwards, since having first Walsh, and now Brands in.

6.) 09 Aug 2021 00:19:23
Who are the rare gems that Brands has uncovered?
For the past 5/ 6 seasons we’ve bought whoever was available and paid over the odds. Keep hearing about all these scouts at the Euros, and in Tokyo. To what end? So we can sign Townsend on a free? Senseless.

7.) 09 Aug 2021 00:58:28
brands is like walsh before him a total phoney and full of rubbish.

8.) 09 Aug 2021 01:59:36
Brands is a strange 1 as his reputation was exemplary when he came to us. His reputation is starting to wear extremely thin. Make or break this season imo.

9.) 09 Aug 2021 08:02:32
Agreed that brands needs to pull his finger out but part of the problem is the constant change in manager,

We will continue in this cycle while we keep changing out style of play to fit the manager all our signings are reactive without any real plan In place.

Chelsea are a prime example of a club who by players for a system and the manager has to work with what he is given. I know they are on a different level but they have an identity and they stick to it.

Makes life miles easier. Leicester are another club and now Villa are going down the same route but players to fit the club not the manager

We are in danger in my opinion of being left miles behind.

10.) 09 Aug 2021 10:36:07
The problem we have is historically the owner decided to interfere in our transfers we are now not sure who was a Brands transfer and who was brought in by the owner. Just because Brands was at the club it doesn't mean that he actually agreed some of the transfers. What we do know i'd Brands publicly supports all then signings made by the club. What we can see now is the club have started bringing in players that look to be more aligned with what he did at PSV.

11.) 09 Aug 2021 10:41:48
Great post Yorkie.
This continually changing players to suit the new managers style has caused no end of issues.
We need to get back to having an identity as a club and recruit the players to play the style/ system the club want.
The manager should manage these players - obviously should be able to recruit also but the player should be suited to the system so if manager leaves we’re not starting all over again.

Hoping Rafa is the start of us getting an identity back.

12.) 09 Aug 2021 15:46:27
Got to ask yourself. If he was so good. How did we get him before a bigger club did.

13.) 09 Aug 2021 20:30:55
Chelsea don’t really have a set identity.

03 Aug 2021 01:24:32
A few Portuguese journos reporting that the Nunes deal is all but done.

1.) 03 Aug 2021 09:28:36
Can he play at rightback 😂.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 13:02:13
Honesty mate he looks like he could do a job there 😂. Tbh I’m still hopeful we may get Dumfries. Marcel loves a game of cat and mouse doesn’t he. The fact he hasn’t went elsewhere is positive. Could just be holding out for a deal structure that suits us.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 14:03:19
Sir loin, I’ve just read on the Everton rumours now pages that Dumfries has stated he has a preference to go to Milan. To me that says Everton are not his first choice, unless trying it as a bargaining ploy for more money. If Everton are not his first choice best to forget and look elsewhere.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 14:29:37
Pretty sure that originated from an Italian news outlet Brian. Tbh it’s all speculation at the moment isn’t it. I hope we sign him but if not we better get a shift on with alternatives.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 15:10:35
Let Dumfries go to Milan, we need players with hunger and desire, players who want to play for the club or even want to get themselves noticed not players who just want a paycheque
Sign the youngster Djed Spence to alternate with Coleman and be blooded in.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 15:12:36
To be honest if his preference is to go elsewhere I hope he does. The horrendous ffp problem we find ourselves in has been largely driven by paying people huge amounts to convince them to come. What we end up with is people that are happy on large salaries and not particularly bothered about playing for Everton. I've been criticised on here for calling a lot of our signings mercenaries but also ridiculed (from the same quarter at times) for suggesting a player might leave to play football rather than stay because he's on huge wages - baffles me that it's seen as logical to argue against both those points because surely its one or the other 😂😂😂. In any case, I have confidence in Rafa when it comes to identifying the right characters for the football club and the right fits for how he wants to play. Whilst I accept that moyes signed some poor girl players I don't recall too many that he brought in that didn't play for the badge and I fancy that it will be more of the same from Rafa. The football might not be dazzling next season but I'm more than hopeful of a period of stability, balancing the books and getting us ready to go into the new stadium on a solid footing.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 15:51:45
😂😂👏👏 Whichever Ed added the girl into my "poor players" comment!

18 Jul 2021 00:13:30
Copacabana restaurant in town posted a pic with Coutinho saying. "We can't wait to welcome you back and start making special memories with you again".

Hmmm.

1.) 18 Jul 2021 08:16:06
Id very suprised if we do get him as he's on an absolute fortune. If he comes does this mean James is definitely off?

2.) 18 Jul 2021 09:55:13
A loan for him would be sensible, nothing to lose.
James looks like he’s been heavily involved in both the friendlies - I’d like to see him stay.

3.) 18 Jul 2021 11:01:52
Me personally I think he will return to the reds. Probably write off Barca’s balance for the original deal. It wouldn’t make sense for us to sign him with his age and injury record in the last few years.

Actually reading that back it sounds like a typical Everton transfer target lol.

4.) 18 Jul 2021 13:07:01
I'm sure I have read somewhere that Barcelona don't owe Liverpool anything on the coutinho transfer fee.

{Ed001's Note - you are correct, Liverpool sold off the balance to get ready cash years ago.}

5.) 18 Jul 2021 16:45:27
Cheers ED01 it was prob you who I read it from 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - or Ed002, we seem to spend a lot of time pointing this out!}

Honestly can't understand why we signed Rondon when we could've kept King on a free. Stupid decision from the club imo.

1.) 26 Sep 2021 01:26:28
Maybe give him some game time before writing him off.

2.) 26 Sep 2021 01:42:21
Also, can’t expect King was keen to stay after he was afforded zero chances to prove himself.

3.) 26 Sep 2021 02:00:54
He’s 32 bunnyman. We’ve seen what happened to baines/ Coleman once they hit that age. Again just my opinion but it’s another bizarre move imo.

4.) 26 Sep 2021 07:26:05
Are you sure King would have stayed?

At the end of the day, he’s a third choice striker behind DLC and Richy. He cost nothing and we had little we could offer him but he came anyway. If king had stayed, we may not have been able to afford Gray or Townsend. If he bags 5 goals and helps assist some over the season then he has made his money back in my opinion.

Chins up, only 29 points to safety!

15 Sep 2021 02:59:58
Honestly the other night has multiple view points. The first 50-60 mins where really poor. Rafa brought on Gomes and changed the formation and changed the game completely. Top tactician!

1.) 15 Sep 2021 12:31:08
He did mate, but to be fair I think everyone watching realised that the formation wasn’t working. Still the guy changed it and we looked like a different team because of it.
Think the best thing to happen to this club recently was Ancelotti going. I mean could you imagine him going for Townsend and Gray?
Rafa has made a good start, get decent results in the next two games and people will forget his past, and start looking to the future.

2.) 15 Sep 2021 12:34:53
I agree - maybe could have done it a bit earlier as it was obviously not working from the start but I think he wants this system to work for some games so will need more practice at it - maybe might see it again vs QPR/ Norwhich

I’m guessing he would like to rely on it vs City / Utd / Chelsea etc.

I thought Digne was very quiet first half and Keane had a shaky game - hopefully his goal gives him a bit of confidence but he’s been poor this season so far - I do think he’s a good player though and will come good

Top and bottom though - I’d have snapped your hand off for this start - aim for 4 points from Villa / Norwich and beat QPR in cup - 6 points and I’d say we would be flying

Iwobi, Townsend Gray Decore Pickford DCL Coleman alan all been quality so far

Hopefully Richarlison gets a couple in next 2-3 games.

14 Sep 2021 21:18:58
After feeing insanely deflated initially. In retrospect I now can't thank Ancelotti enough for jumping ship. We've now got a massively more suitable Manager for this squad/ club.

Sure it's going to be a difficult 2ish years with FFP but it's going to stand us in great stead heading into the new stadium.

Just hope we can now find some long term stability as we genuinely can't afford (in every sense) to sack another manager.

{Ed025's Note - im with you 100% sir loin mate..

14 Sep 2021 01:09:35
To early to offer gray an extension on his 2 year deal haha?

1.) 14 Sep 2021 15:34:05
good job he signed a 3 year deal with a club option to extend it to 4.

2.) 14 Sep 2021 17:44:04
Yeah I checked after I made the post mate. Think it was Townsend who signed a 2yr.

31 Aug 2021 14:06:30
Bit mad letting Nkounkou going out on loan isn't it. Looks like we're going into the season with Branthwaite and the ever reliable Delph as back ups.

1.) 31 Aug 2021 14:09:02
Absolutely crazy decision to let nkounkou go out on loan.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 15:40:48
Doesn’t make much sense this one. Not like the kid is on a big wage so club looking to save money.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 15:46:32
He'll get regular football which he needs. He won't get much time behind Digne this season so for me it's a great move him and us.

We have cover with Godfrey who would only be used there sporadically anyway.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 15:49:31
I guess Rafa reckons he has cover will Delph and Godfrey? Seems odd to me.

5.) 31 Aug 2021 15:50:27
He needs game time and isn't going to get much of that with Digne ahead of him. I think Godfrey is more likely to be used as cover than Delph.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 16:01:14
Godfrey covered LB last season so don’t see what’s changed this season allowing him to go out on loan will be better for him and us as opposed to another 12 months sat waiting.

7.) 31 Aug 2021 17:17:28
so next week we will have three keepers on the bench, oh no wait.

Horrible injury mate. Looked extremely similar to Gomes’s. The only positive is players who get them type of injury’s when really young seem to have a better chance of a full recovery/ career with the standard of sports science now.
