Hello Ed’s: Any truth to the Ancelotti to Madrid rumours?

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - They have interest in others, one of which has already turned them sown. He might be on the list in 5th or 6th but it is unlikely.}

1.) 01 Jun 2021 09:21:29
Thanks Ed. Long Summer ahead!

2.) 01 Jun 2021 10:42:09
The rumours seemed to have cooled off lately. I'm sure Real Madrid will have enough candidates to choose from anyway. Theoretically if Ancelotti were to leave would we then opt for Paulo Fonseca as he is a free agent at this moment in time? Didn't we have big interest in him before appointing Silva?

{Ed002's Note - Everton are not looking for a new coach.}

3.) 01 Jun 2021 13:44:36
Been reported he is now in talks with Real Madrid it will be an interesting few days.

Hi Ed’s, any truth to our links with Daryl Dike? Interesting player!

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Daryl Dike (S/F) Orlando City are open to selling the Barnsley loanee for a good price but one scout who was asked to watch him described him as clumsy. Barnsley have an option to buy. Wolves and Bayer Leverkusehave spoken with Orlando City and others including Everton and Brighton have sent scouts to watch him.}

1.) 31 May 2021 15:34:54
Looks an alright prospect but for me he’s a bit to slow for what I would want in a striker.

2.) 31 May 2021 21:01:49
Thanks again, Ed.

29 May 2021 17:17:38
Any truth to the Guedes rumours, Eds? Thanks in advance.

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Goncalo Guedes (LW/S/RW) It has not worked out well and Valencia have his agent offering him around trying to recoup the €35M paid - which will never happen. If Wolves were to sell Traore he will become an option. Spurs have already said they are not interested. He will be offered to Everton by his agent who has a huge amount of influence in their transfers but do they need another LW who does not contribute enough goals or should they concentrate their efforts on the striker they need in the first instance?}

1.) 29 May 2021 20:01:45
Thanks Ed. I agree that he isn't what we need at all. Also its interesting that you say his agent has a huge amount of influence on Everton’s transfers. I thought we’d moved away from that model and that it was Brands’ remit more than anything now. Suppose he can't be too unhappy if he’s just signed a new contract!

{Ed002's Note - He can climb over the garden wall and talk to the owner.}

2.) 29 May 2021 20:14:23
Aaaah its like that is it? Kid in a candy store for Mendes then! Thanks Ed.

3.) 29 May 2021 23:48:21
He has the attributes we need, just not the end product. We definitely need someone fast in his age range though.

03 May 2021 13:54:11
Any truth in our interest in Ivan Toney? Thanks in advance, Ed’s.

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Ivan Toney (S) The player decided on a move to Brentford in the summer instead of Swansea or Brighton. Celtic also made enquiries. After a very good start to the season he has attracted scouts from a number of Premier League sides including Everton, Leicester, West Ham, Arsenal, and again Brighton. Brentford have no interest in selling but Leicester will press if they cannot sign their first choice option.}

1.) 03 May 2021 14:30:15
We are still linked to leao of ac Milan. We have been linked with him since his Lillie days so could be some old recycled news or we do really want him.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

2.) 03 May 2021 14:52:37
Brink of CL with Milan so I’d doubt it. Thanks for the info, Ed.

25 Apr 2021 15:10:20
Hi Ed’s. Now that the season is coming to an end-ish, are you aware of who/ which positions the club are targetting? i'd hope for an RB, RW and a back-up Striker!

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - I think largely you have nailed it Hugi. From my perspectove I see Everton face work in the summer and need to decide on which contracts to extend and which to let run down or sell up. Before the start of next season they need to add a second pick G, a RB, possibly a DM, a RW and a S.}

1.) 25 Apr 2021 22:01:54
Thanks for the reply, Ed. Imagine it will be a tough Summer for a few clubs, especially given our FFP issues. Another DM has surprised me as I thought our CM spaces were full, but quanity =/ = I suppose! I've seen Aarons’ name touted as an RB target but 30 million seems very expensive.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about Aarons but you are right, he won’t be cheap.}

2.) 26 Apr 2021 09:05:51
I must have missed your explanation, apologies Ed. Ill have a look in the search bar. I think there are some cheaper alternatives out there, and I’d imagine Norwich’s promotion will complicate things even more.

Not overly bothered who we get but I hope Brands has a direct say in who that is and that we start building an identity as a club on the pitch. Chopping and changing all the time is getting us nowhere, and as okay as I think he is, Moshiri is part of the problem.

Iwobi injured or is he off? Not seen anything about an injury.

HugoEFC

1.) 16 Sep 2020 20:16:02
Thought the same, he’s not listed as injured on PhysioRoom. Surprised he didn’t even make the bench.

2.) 16 Sep 2020 21:56:29
Fingers crossed he's moving on.

3.) 17 Sep 2020 07:12:23
More than likely one of the ones with C.V. and self isolating.
Let's see if he pops up in a week.

09 Sep 2020 19:19:46
Hi Ed’s. Knoq youve posted about them before but do are there any updates on any outgoinga from the club? Cheers in advance.

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Not really but there is a huge amount of effort being made by agents to move players on.}

1.) 09 Sep 2020 21:28:45
Thanks again, Ed002.

23 Aug 2020 15:21:42
Hi Ed’s. From the outside looking in and a supporter, the club seems a shambles with no plan going forward. Can I ask if you know what the opinion of Everton, and how it’s run, is by those in the upper levels of the footballing world?

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Folks don't generally have an opinion of how other clubs are run as such. There is no doubt the Brands and Ancelotti are very good at their jobs and both are well respected. But a lot of time and money has been wasted to get where the club find themselves now.}

1.) 23 Aug 2020 15:58:53
That’s fair. Seems clear that mismanagement in the previous 5 years is holding us back to a degree. Do you think that Brands and Ancelotti came purely for the salary or do they see some potential? Referring to your post in the Rumours page about Ancelotti and his salary, just an assumption with Brands.

{Ed002's Note - No not Brands.}

2.) 23 Aug 2020 16:24:08
Fingers crossed his faith is repaid!

10 Aug 2020 15:29:27
Hi Ed’s. Not a rumour but given the issues regarding the club’s transfer policy and FFP issues, could you explain how Brands’ relationship with transfers has changed, if at all? I remember it being mentioned that FM was taking third-party advice from outside the club at times and I was wondering if that’s still the case? I think what I’m getting at is Brands now “fully” in control or is the club’s transfer policy still influenced by those outside Everton? Just curious!

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - The third party involve has for now gone, so it is the management team of Brands and the scouts who will be identifying players. CA will also have some input.}

1.) 10 Aug 2020 16:05:52
Thanks Ed. Sounds a bit more hopeful than before I think!

2.) 10 Aug 2020 16:57:24
I would say Ancelloti will have more than a bit of input, you don’t spent a fortune bringing one of the best managers around who has won everything and knows the game inside out to not be the driving force, after all any player coming through the door will be coming to play for him as opposed to a team that is bottom half table side.

{Ed002's Note - CA is not the driving force - he is the coach. The driving force is Brands.}

3.) 10 Aug 2020 20:44:46
So the people who was giving the advice, gave about 200 million pounds worth of bad advice, and now we have no money to spend and brands can't do his job properly.
Got to love everton haven't you!

In the words of Ed002: “Neither Alaba nor Koulibaly will be joining Everton. ”. Really isn't the market we need to be looking at to become a sustainable operation either.

HugoEFC

{Ed002's Note - Everton cannot afford Alaba and there are talks going on with other clubs. He is not an option. Although Carlo Ancelotti knows Koulibaly very well and they get on well I understand, the problem is paying €50M for a 30 year old would not seem like good business and there is no lure of being in the Champions League.}

Im talking about those players specifically. Iwobi didn't have a bad game compared to others, pre-assist for DCL’s goal and with better touches from DCL, has 2 assists. When Davies goes off, we’ve been average in all the games you mentioned. Seems an agenda singling those 2 out.

But where was this criticism when they were playing well for months? i'm not saying you can't be critical of a performance, but why jump to hyperbolic knee-jerk reactions after a bad game?

"First they came for the socialists". Could be a slippery slope if this goes through I think. Consolidation of power by the Top 6 before an inevitable European Super League.
