Thelwell with the right manager/ coach will improve us.
Dyche unfortunately is unable to get the players to play any other style than his hoofball which is holding some of our players back.
Thelwell has recruited fairly well given the constraints on him and if you also look at the players he tried to sign for us but wasn’t given the backing to get those deals through (be that manager or money) he’s got an eye for talent - Kudus, Dumfries, L Diaz, Cunha to name a few who have ended up in the pre her league and doing well.
Thelwell isn’t the problem.

Jury's still out on Thelwell though admittedly not the main issue.
The players you mention good were linked to us prior to Thelwell arrival and certainly on the radar, was actually Marcel Brands
Luis Diaz was lined up as Richys replacement if he went to PSG in summer of 2021.
Dumfries again he snubbed us that same summer after Brands was chasing him for more than 2 years after their time together at PSV.
Same with Kudus via the Dutch league and Brands who was aware of him in his time there.
Cunha was touted to us in January transfer window 2022, Thelwell didn't come till February.
As I say Thelwell not the key issue but certainly doesn't get credit even moreso when the calibre of the players you mention isn't his doing but actually Marcel Brands, who if left to do his job and got some backing (right man, wrong time) would have done a top job imo, don't forget it was him who got us Jarrad.
Dum.

KT though not perfect (anyone name a club without any flops? ) has been a vast improvement on the talented but controlled Brands and far superior to that wally from Leicester who certainly is complicit in our horrors. With a clean slate and new owner direction, he'd be lower down the list of immediate priorities to be resolved. Much of his better work. has been the shipping out on loans of some of the problem players. Now the new ownership seems imminent, the so called opinion piece journalist (there aren't any decent football journalists left these days) on socials are going to start ramping up the nonsense. I for one take it as a sign that we are finally moving forward and take the gutter pieces as a compliment. The more nonsense rumours the healthier the club will be.

The DoF is not all about recruitment. It's about creating an environment and culture for all levels of the football club to perform at the highest level.
You set strategy and plan for the future recruiting the right coaches and people to execute it.
If you think the DoF is out scouting an these players then you don't understand the role. There is a recruitment team who will do the scouting and analysing bringing forward recommendations.
In terms of our youth football setup, anyone who says that Thelwell has done a bad job is just not being fair to him.
Judging him on recruitment alone is not a fair measure of his success. It's a part but only that - a part.

Back to basics. Get Moyes in. Will steady the ship. Then look for the fancy managers in time.

Agree Brass. We shouldn’t be looking for a manager to just keep us up - we need a manager who will improve us going forward. Moyes isn’t the answer. He would be a hugely unpopular choice amongst a large portion of our fanbase and wouldn’t take long for things to become toxic toward him. Would be a huge mistake. The usual slate of mediocre, firefighter managers should not be anyway near the list of potential future bosses.

Short memories a lot of you have, new you manager coming up with bright new ideas, didn't we do this already , problem with new manager coming up they need a half decent team to apply there new attacking football, Moyes on the other hand could make a average player play well in a team, pluck good players from lower leagues, keep us in the top 10 nearly every season, but because I will say most, are septic, can't getover he chose man United and tried to buy our player, oh dear God, he wasnt the first and he won't be again, Moyes till the end of the season, then see how it goes from there, no fancy Dan is getting anything but the sack if they join Everton now, we are as bad as any team in the top league, we need a manager who knows the league and Moyes does.

That being said. I would take Moyes over this absolute turnip any day of the week. I haven't disliked a manager more than I do Dyche.
- Whilst in the job, he would at least respect the club and the fans and not make distasteful, arrogant, sarcastic comments.
- We would win at Goodison.
- Players would show effort and commitment to the shirt.
- Slowly fight for European tours again.
- Avoid the Championship, which is where we are heading.

As I say, I wanted the man out long before he left and I don't want him now but would I prefer him as our manager over Dyche. Absolutely 100%.
Nick, i made a point of stating "Whilst in the job" because of what happened with Felli and Baines. Man Utd were the biggest job in the world at the time, so I don't blame him for wanting to go. Could he have acted with more class around Felli and Baines, of course but he was acting in the best interests of his new team. If the shoe was on the other foot, no one would have an issue with it. It is just business.
He has only spoken well of Everton football club and the fans over the years.
He absolutely isn't the answer and who I want as manager but my point was only that I would take him over Dyche in any situation.
