Currently halfway through the ‘Everton: nothing will be the same’ podcast series on BBC. Interesting hearing from those behind the scenes. Still makes the hierarchy seem clueless. Think Thelwell has come across quite well so far. Wouldn’t lump him in with Moshiri and Kenright causing the mess we are in.
1.) 19 Oct 2023 20:52:20
Yes only FM and BK are the main culprits. Their legacy will unfortunately be ingrained in our glorious history.
09 Oct 2023 06:05:31
Given the recent flavour for changing manager as soon as things go less than desired, do you think we would have sacked Moyes after the 03-04 season where we scraped survival if it where today?
1.) 09 Oct 2023 09:46:51
If memory serves me correct BR, I think 'zeitgeist' was different then as these days we seem to almost expect a regime change as every winter sets in, because we have been badly run for one thing and have been bringing players here and indulging them too when they really don't measure up to what I would personally regard as PL standard, DM would be no different now to the others that were ejected and Rafa even without his LFC history again IMO would have been sacked for his obstinacy alone lol.
2.) 09 Oct 2023 11:15:24
No and he would not have been sacked had Moshri had the guts to hire him in 2019, instead of chasing stars with Ancelloti.
3.) 09 Oct 2023 12:05:23
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
4.) 09 Oct 2023 12:26:57
Do you think Moyes would’ve walked out on us if he knew that he would bomb the Man U job and he’d have had a war chest for the first time?
5.) 09 Oct 2023 12:48:23
Yes he would have been sacked, if we were controlled buy the current management and owner.
6.) 09 Oct 2023 12:53:53
Many on here were very vocal about not wanting Moyes to return to the club. If only Mosh had listened to the noise about Benitez.
7.) 09 Oct 2023 15:22:03
Hit the nail on the head again JB mate.
8.) 10 Oct 2023 14:28:00
He didn't bomb the Utd job (look at their Stats) , he was sacked, Fan pressure 'again'
9.) 10 Oct 2023 16:24:19
Yes he bombed. Lasted 10 months out of a 6 year contract. No need for the minutia of stats, he well and truly cocked that up. And us beating them home and away without conceding was a particular highlight of his miserable time there.
10.) 10 Oct 2023 16:52:17
Grass is always greener ….
11.) 10 Oct 2023 18:07:18
He should have been sacked long before he went to united. Its hilarious on here how some wanted him back even though he won nowt in 11 years and yet wanted Martinez out for daring to finish 11th and with a 51% win ratio compared to Moyes 44%, oh and had nothing of the Moshiri money.
However, none of these managers we've had have won us anything but Moyes had 11 years to fluke a trophy or even a fluky away win at the so called top 6! He only broke that duck last season!
12.) 11 Oct 2023 08:08:58
Moyes is decent but is also the past. The rest is handbags. I’d personally say having us finish 4th with what he had at his disposal is arguably better than a ‘fluky trophy’.
13.) 11 Oct 2023 15:56:16
Give me the trophy anytime.
14.) 11 Oct 2023 17:58:35
Me too, been far to long.
15.) 11 Oct 2023 21:15:17
DPP exactly.
16.) 11 Oct 2023 22:36:53
Show me anywhere it shows on a list of honours, finished 4th behind 3 other teams. My god that comment has blown my mind!
17.) 12 Oct 2023 09:15:41
CL footy on a shoestring budget and knives to a gunfight and so on was impressive, here's the thing DFS it was only a brief sunny period with lots of rain to follow metaphorically speaking, Moyes reached his zenith and all that was proved was that EFC was the best of the rest at that time.
08 Sep 2023 05:58:28
So what happens now with Gomes and Alli? £200k a week and never playing… is there anything we can do about them?
At least Holgate, Gbamin, Maupay, Gray and Iwobi are off the books.
1.) 08 Sep 2023 09:01:41
Alli isn’t yet fit. However listening to the way dyche spoke about him in pre-season it sounds like he will be used when he’s up to speed.
Gomes not sure about, was fairly decent when came to us but had never been the same since the injury, imagine may have a bit part in the cups and most probably move on in January.
2.) 08 Sep 2023 15:14:59
Very surprised he didn't reloan to France. Guess we insisted on a transfer? Then again he ain't ever going to earn that money ever again so is likely to have decided a year off and go free and take a sign on somewhere before disappearing with a pot of gold was his best plan. It what if have done.
3.) 08 Sep 2023 15:39:27
Can you still loan players out after transfer day? I read Gomes could still go this month somewhere. and Ali what an absolute joke that transfer was. he was asked 3 or 4 year's ago why he wasn't being picked and his form had gone. his reply was I'm not as young as i was and can't run as much anymore. he was about 22 or 23 at the time and i always remembered that. and then we went and signed him.
{Ed025's Note - just another cock up by these cretins who run our club RON. I just give up now mate..
4.) 08 Sep 2023 17:24:17
Plenty of scope to criticise the club for dealings over the past 6/ 7 years, but I don’t think we can be too disappointed with this summer’s business. The calm from most of as to clear the books. Largely, we’ve done that. I’d rather be left with Alli and Gomes, than Holgate and Maupay. A couple of injuries and we’ll be glad that Gomes hasn’t left. Keep it steady until January, get a couple in. Stay up, get a couple more in July. Could be halfway to a decent squad.
5.) 08 Sep 2023 20:14:44
Well strategically yes we can. They have left Dyche with a very light Squad and already the need to claw back points. Someone said - and I agree - you need 2 players of quality for every position, some positions I would argue we haven't got 1. The Club have known for years our needs but somehow have managed to have us in a worse state than we were prior to 'billionaire' ownership.
6.) 09 Sep 2023 10:10:36
I don’t disagree ducks, and ideally we would have signed a couple more. The call from many was to clear the wage bill, and clear the deadwood. We’ve moved a long way forward with that process. Work to be done of course.
7.) 09 Sep 2023 10:44:11
Spot on JB.
For ages we’ve had calls to move on players that either aren’t good enough, earning too much or a combination of both.
Now the club has done that we have fans moaning we’re short.
Would much rather have a smaller squad with quality which I believe we do as opposed to an over inflated bloated squad with very little quality in it.
8.) 09 Sep 2023 15:08:26
Considering we had to move on high earners that weren't going to make the team, we have done a decent job in the transfer window. There are still more to move on but I don't think anyone would have expected to get rid of as many as we have so far. Two more windows should see a more settled side I'd say.
I seen a few mentioning that we need two quality players for every position. While that is ultimately the dream scenario, at this minute we haven't got the funds to do that. In fact, how many teams actually can say they have got two for every position? Of quality that is. Maybe City but then there aren't many teams who have every position covered twice. We need to take small steps to get back on track after nearly a decade of FM playing football manager!
9.) 09 Sep 2023 15:35:32
We’ve need new full backs for a very, very long time.
10.) 10 Sep 2023 07:41:31
We’ve needed a new ownership for nearly as long. i'm pleased there has been a cull of overpaid benchwarmers but we really could do with a few more hungry players on sensible contracts. Still can’t believe £200k+ a week on two players who simply don’t play and couldn’t get into the starting lineup if fit.
25 Oct 2023 22:17:05
If they do find us guilty of FFFP breeches, I’d like to know what supervision the Prem League gave for our accounts. The club are adamant they have complied with whatever they were told by the Prem League.
It’s that or some serious wool has been pulled over our eyes.
28 Sep 2023 06:07:41
To think he is an accountant… what happened to our finances?
12 Aug 2023 17:08:45
Sign him. Sign someone who can score!
21 Nov 2023 18:54:17
Could we split it 5 each?
17 Nov 2023 23:33:38
Wouldn’t be my choice of words woburn.
17 Nov 2023 23:32:21
Can we possibly win points back from them? I think the ruling has happened and there is diddly squat we can do about it now. We just have to get our arses in gear and start climbing the table.
{Ed001's Note - you have the right to appeal and that may see the punishment reduced.}
17 Nov 2023 20:26:47
It is what it is.
10 points this season has put us 5 behind Bournemouth and relative safety. We can’t afford any poor games or results now.
If city are found guilty and punished in accordance with the similar ratio to 1 infringement to 10 points, I’d be amazed. Whether anything comes from Chelsea I’d also be surprised.
Thought Carragher’s comment on the big 6 fiasco getting no punishment was interesting. There does seem to be a feeling of corruption around doesn’t there?
12 Nov 2023 22:04:36
Just pleased we are moving further away from the drop zone. 8points at the moment. Would love to be 10+ points clear at Christmas.
