Morning Ed02. Hope you are safely back from your travels. Any chance you have your mammoth list of potential or likely ins and outs at Goodison this summer?

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - I gave a whole load of potential DM replacements yesterday and have previously covered everything else. Is there something specific.}

1.) 17 Jul 2024 13:44:25
Mainly outgoings Ed02.

I saw the DM replacements - cheers for that info. Hopefully we will get some more cover but I feel we may only make signings now if people go and we replace them.

{Ed002's Note - Andy Lonergan (G) Free Agent in the summer.
Nathan Patterson (RB) A third party is working on a return to Scotland with Rangers.
Jarrad Branthwaite (CB) Everton want a new contract but Spurs, Manchester United and Newcastle have an interest. Ancelotti has spoken to Solari about him and scouts were sent to watch him against Newcastle, but Solari is not convinced that English players settle well on the continent. Manchester United will likely need a complete rebuild at CB with departures in the summer and so he will be a leading option but after two offers the clubs are a long way apart in valuation. Spurs have a need for a CB but have preferred options. Newcastle has a compelling need to add one or two younger CBs but a move there is very unlikely, particularly after adding Lloyd Kelly. A wildcard would be Manchester City but they don't see value for money.
Ben Godfrey (CB/RB/DM) Gone to Atalanta.
Mason Holgate (CB) Available to be sold. No obvious interest. Wages are an issue.
Amadou Onana (DM/CB/CM) Only moved to Everton in 2022 but they are open to sell him buat the right price. With huge debts and the need to stay within PSR they need to be shreed in the transfer market.. West Ham interest has now gone again but Arsenal will look again after failing to agree alternatives. Newcastle spoke with Everton last summer and have failed to sign their primary DM/CM target but could return again this summer as they may need a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes. Manchester United had him a long way down their list of targets but failed to sign preferred options in the summer and he may still be of interest, but I rather doubt it. Chelsea interest has gone. Aston Villa are looking at options to replace Douglas Luiz and may well offer Leander Dendoncker and cash. That may suit Everton but they are already looking to a different option to replace Onana. Roma may offer an option but it would be subject to UEFA scrutiny. Barcelona may look to some horse trading but they have to deal with their own financial issues, but are keen. Real Madrid may look to a player plus cash deal, but he would largely be used as cover. Bayern Munich interest has gone after signing Palhinho. Everton will look to trying to raise £60M.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (DM/CM) Expect him to stay. Wildcard could be Middle East or Turkey.
James Garner (DM/CM) Will be easy to sell and Spurs need to replace Tanguy N'Ddombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Wildcard may be Newcastle. I expect the player to stay and perhaps play more in the DM role.
Andre Gomes (CM) Out of contract in the summer. Wasserman will be looking for other options no doubt - perhaps the MLS. Everton would be happy to have him leave to get his wages off the books.
Idrissa Gueye (CM) New contract. Will stay to 2025.
Dele Alli (CM/AM) Gone but will continue to train whilst agreement is reached with Spurs.
Jack Harrison (RW) Will return to Leeds in the summer. Everton would like another loan but he would need to sign a contract extension.
Arnaut Danjuma (W) His agent and Villareal wanted him out of his loan at Everton early with Lyon talking to his club. Player is very unhappy being a bit part player only but Everton were asking too much to terminate his loan so he stayed. That backfired rather. Will be gone in the summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (S) The second player tapped up by Steven Gerrard. The summer will be a decision point for the player who will be another the club are willing to sell in order to raise funds. Newcastle, Brentford and West Ham offer options with Newcastle pressing to sign him to replace Callum Wilson but Everton's asking price is seen as excessive. They could return later in the window. Manchester United offer a wildcard option but have much preferred targets.
Neal Maupay (S) Everton wanted to upgrade with Gyokeres last year but missed that boat. For now unless perhaps a move home to France is possible. A tough one to sell and get a decent return on.
Beto (S) Agent has had no luck finding a buer Goals have dried up completely and Everton will look to a sale to recover at least some funds from the journeyman striker. Fenerbahce are open to a discussion.}

2.) 17 Jul 2024 16:00:30
is this a copy and paste from old Ed?

Onana off to Villa £50mm + add ons and sell on clause once he's back from holiday
Harrison didn't need to sign fresh terms for a loan and is already back

James Garner will play more in a cm role, as he has been doing anyway for Everton? we don't essentially have a 'DM' role, it's 2 cm's behind a AM?

Patterson agreed him and agent want out, player and manager don't like eachother, most likely a loan so EFC can try reclaim some sort of fee back next summer if he get's his act together on a loan deal, otherwise EFC face significant loss.

{Ed002's Note - It is all correct. Harrison has not yet been registered. Onana has not yet been registered.}

3.) 17 Jul 2024 16:03:36
Thanks Ed - superb info as always.

4.) 17 Jul 2024 19:21:51
That was hilarious ?.

13 Jul 2024 15:01:29
Afternoon Ed02 - you mentioned in a different post that Everton were looking at a different replacement for Onana than Dendonker. If we do sell Onana to Villa, who do you think our new options/ targets are? I’m hoping they reinvest the money on the attack but know we will probably throw it into the stadium.

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - I am travelling right now. Back Monday afternoon so please ask again then.}

1.) 13 Jul 2024 17:41:45
I think it’ll be Phillips on loan.

2.) 13 Jul 2024 18:19:08
Hope not.

3.) 13 Jul 2024 19:24:45
Will do Ed02. Safe travels.

25 May 2024 14:53:07
Hi Eds, hope you are enjoying the off season.

Wanted to ask: is this Textor a likely knight in shining armour or just another one of the bad bunch ready to bankrupt us?

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he is even a factor at this time BR mate..

19 May 2024 14:25:10
Afternoon Eds. What are the chances of us resigning Richarlison (even if only on loan) ?

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - There is no chance.}

1.) 19 May 2024 15:04:50
Been down that road with Rodrigues.

2.) 19 May 2024 20:24:07
We can't pay his wages GB.

3.) 19 May 2024 22:05:58
I think a more realistic question is what are the chance of us signing anyone?

4.) 20 May 2024 09:29:40
Ok ok so the silly season doesn't go too far too quickly and annoy out of people with more than 2 brain cells. let's ditch these hypothetical nonsense questions about the calibre and prices of players like Rikky and Greenwood and maybe start talking about the cheap realistic work men like players from places like Norwich Ipswich Burnley Southampton Luton etc and stop wasting yours and everyone elses time with this sillyness? It's going to be a long summer as it is.

5.) 20 May 2024 09:56:50
Spot on FBS. ???.

6.) 20 May 2024 10:14:15
Said all alongFBS we would be looking in the lower divisions this season stands to reason cash is tight.

7.) 20 May 2024 11:31:55
If you look you will find. Vardh wasn't too bad a player. Non league to Fleetwood to Leicester and England. Ian Wright was late getting into league football too. There's gems in lower league. Just got to find them. Wasn't Joe Parkinson 300k from Bournemouth who where division 4?

8.) 20 May 2024 12:21:10
Seamus comes to mind mate.

9.) 20 May 2024 12:55:40
Agreed. We’ve signed the likes of Branthwaite and Stones from the lowers leagues. So there are gems out there.

We’ve not really had much success through our youth ranks over the last few years bar maybe Gordon. So starting from the bottom upwards would also help.

10.) 20 May 2024 13:08:13
Totally agree fbs think we do need to start scouting in lower divisions in my opinion mate question is will thelwell and dyche go down that route think he needs to tbh but time will tell.

11.) 20 May 2024 14:01:51
What other route is there mate? He ain't got the kids to play so it's going to be a load of left fields and a few oldies on short contracts who get the job done. I expect to be busy as it has to be. We need 5 or 6. Sales first and then v v late window purchases. Loans right at the death when everyone else has done business and some all of a sudden need a club.

12.) 20 May 2024 21:19:52
That makes sense FBS.

Only mentioned Richy as read somewhere that Spurs were in the market for a couple of strikers and wondered if Richy would become surplus to requirements…

Think Onana and Branthwaite will go to raise £120m (or as close to that as we can get) and most of that will go towards preventing more points deductions. Let’s hope they can find 5-6 Colemans as we will be scuppered otherwise!

10 May 2024 20:30:17
Evening Eds. I read somewhere that there had been discussions about creating a wages cap in the Prem. Do you think this will ever happen or is it all tosh?

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - It is happening.}

1.) 10 May 2024 20:37:16
Isn't that the very thing Jimmy railed against and to a for Bosman.

2.) 10 May 2024 23:12:56
Get ready for huge win bonuses.

3.) 10 May 2024 20:50:00
How do you think it will work Ed? I can’t see the likes of City not having a bench of players earning more than the whole of our first team….

{Ed002's Note - Pl are looking to align with the UEFA approach limiting clubs to spending 70% of their revenue on squad costs - transfers, wages and agents' fees - but initially limiting club not playing in Europe to spending 85% of their revenue on squad costs.}

4.) 11 May 2024 11:59:23
That wouldn't stand up to a Bosman style legal challenge.

{Ed001's Note - yes it would. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There is nothing in that blocking a player from working like the old transfer system did. Why make a statement like that, when it is clear you know less than zero about it?}

5.) 11 May 2024 13:33:52
Bosman didn't/ doesn't work like that TL. I would refer it more to dear old Jimmy Hill, lauded for his efforts but what a can of worms that opened. My beef has always been and is with agents and the seeming stranglehold they have on the professional game. Mind you at least the Prem stayed/ stays away from 3rd Party. I would concentrate your worries more on the utter devastation Moshiris misguided trust
and naivety has wrought on our historical Club.

6.) 11 May 2024 16:44:23
My works has a car share scheme and a cycle to work scheme were we get bonuses. could they implement a scoring goal clean sheet assists etc sort of scheme to the players contracts ie just say DCL was on £70 grand a week but got £10 grand a goal and same for defender's for clean sheets and stuff like that or could that not happen? Least they might try more not that they don't earn fortune's as it is and should try anyway ?.

7.) 11 May 2024 17:07:20
Well bonus count as spend don't they. So it would count towards the 85% or 70% figure.

8.) 11 May 2024 22:27:37
Not a clue just thought the clubs with money would do it to try and get round the pay cap somehow ? l.

9.) 11 May 2024 23:11:23
The PFA are considering their position over this as it may create a hard cap on player wages. Similar was proposed and scrapped by the EFL. You also have a few clubs voting against the system, one being Man City who the PL are scared off. Intentionally or inadvertently you can't cap a players salary earning power.

10.) 12 May 2024 13:54:23
Thanks for the reply Ed. I assume the reason for the changes is to ensure clubs are more sustainable.

Do you think doing this will just make the top 6 stronger and move further away towards the Euro super league?

{Ed002's Note - It is not a cap on pay but aligning with UEFA to ensure clubs spend within their means. It means clubs will look to significant increases in sponsorship - with one pal club already negotiating deals for next summer which will bring a potentially huge increase for them.}

What did you all think about the 3-3 friendly? Was good to see Chermiti get a brace. Hopefully, he’ll keep finding the net as the season progresses.

BR23-24

1.) 20 Jul 2024 11:22:47
It's just a run out. I never look into friendlies too much. Even if we beat Real Madrid 5-0 I wouldn't look at it at a sign we're going to be blazing a trail in the premiership.

2.) 20 Jul 2024 14:12:49
Just happy for Seamus to have his day???.

3.) 20 Jul 2024 15:19:50
Agreed TT272 but it’s good to see who is putting in a decent performance in the friendlies. Thinks that how Utd ended up signing Ronaldo.

06 Jun 2024 18:37:47
Hi Ed’s - what do you think of the TBA rule being proposed?

BR23-24

{Ed002's Note - It strikes me as largely unworkable compare to limited spending to a percentage of income - which works well elsewhere.}

1.) 08 Jun 2024 18:59:04
I don’t see how it will work. Can see a lot of teams asking for change in 12 months time.

08 Apr 2024 18:05:58
The club are saying the overspend is to do with the stadium and should not be counted. The premier league is saying it is not the stadium and it should be counted. Is the club just making stuff up? Is it written down somewhere for the directors to see what they’ve messed up on?

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - i wish i knew mate..

1.) 08 Apr 2024 19:57:08
BBC radio Five live football finance expert said that the club are doing the same as Spurs did for their new stadium and the premier league allowed it for Spuds but said ours was not clear and hence it should be considered overspend.

What is going on?

{Ed002's Note - infrastructure is not considered. The issue is that Everton counted loans as working capital.}

2.) 08 Apr 2024 20:49:10
It just stinks.
You watch the rules will be changed for next season! How you can get fined twice in one season is beyond me.

3.) 08 Apr 2024 22:06:25
It appears (may be Everton PR porkies) , that the commission accepted Evertons submission that the first two years of this period have already accrued the 6 points as the last two years of the last period. Ergo the 16.6 overspend only attracting 2 pts. Have no idea what Evertons appeal can be based on.

4.) 11 Apr 2024 09:44:23
Because it worked last time, so their thinking might as well have another go :)

06 Apr 2024 21:57:52
We won yet I don’t feel ecstatic…

The Luton win has taken the wind out my sail a bit. That coupled with an imminent points deduction and the fact we won out of luck rather than dominating the game or playing well.

To be an Evertonian hey!

BR23-24

{Ed025's Note - tell me about it BR..

1.) 07 Apr 2024 04:48:31
I mentioned to a friend yesterday that I'd take a fluke 1-0 victory as long as we got the 3 points. A win is a win at the minute, regardless of how it comes. I didn't think we played too bad. Pressed them well, which ultimately led to us getting a fluke goal.

Very bad decisions yet again by Dyche. He should of brought on fresh legs when they went down to 10 men, but he waits until the 83rd minute and brings on 2 players that won't chase the ball down like the ones he took off. Beto is not the player for me. He is lazy, got no speed or strength and falls over far too easily for a man of his size. But a win is a win and very vital at this moment.

2.) 07 Apr 2024 08:47:51
I must have been watching a different game?

3.) 07 Apr 2024 11:36:57
A win is a win, at the moment I don't care how we win, but we aren't playing half as well as the first half of the season. We've lost our spark. If Burnley come to goodison and played aswell as us, that is a concern. I pray we win our 6 pointers, because we're going to need the points. especially if we get another deduction. There's more fight in the forest and Luton teams than we have, that bothers me, especially as we're facing both of them b4 the season ends! We won but I'm concerned!

4.) 07 Apr 2024 19:27:12
Agree tomtom was a terrible match yesterday especially at home but on other hand its 3 points is worrying this next point deduction and am just hoping we can make try pick up as many points between now and end season hopefully fingers crossed and stay up but changes need to made and starts from top then if dyche stays or goes which in my view i can see him staying with us having no money and then players need moving out think keane alli gomes holgate maupay to name few can get our wages down if we can shift them on like.

30 Mar 2024 17:25:53
6th April - Burnley
21st April - Forest
27th April - Brentford
4th May - Luton (A)

That’s what our season boils down to.

Beto has to start each game.
Young should not make the bench.

BR23-24

1.) 30 Mar 2024 17:57:08
Them 4 teams will beat us. They have more drive and passion to stay in prem than our lot do.

I just think it is ridiculous that some teams can offer that sort of money a week and others can’t without falling foul of PSR.

There is only one direction this is heading: mega rich clubs with all the talent and the rest of us having to surrender our best assets as we just can’t compete. Euro Super league is coming unless this can be addressed - how they would or could do this is beyond me.

Shame the MSP group have moved on. I’d take anyone who can sort us out at the moment. Would even contemplate Saudi Owners though I feel awful saying it. After everything we have endured under Moshiri, I just want him gone and the club back to competing in the Prem, not holding on each season.

I thought you had to pass Go, collect a community chest token where it’s your birthday then but up two stations and The Strand. Only then can you pick up from the ‘chance’ deck and if it says you are allowed to loan a player, you can…

Let’s just leave the club to sort out what they can. I’m sure they will do everything they can to maximise the squad so try not to get bogged down in reading the fine print of the monopoly rules and just hope we can get in some players to help improve the team.

{Ed025's Note - he did BR but there is a good reason for that mate....it was because he is bloody crap and a liability, an egotistical lazy sod who thinks he is 10 times better than he really is....just my opinion of course..
