Everton banter 4
Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

The lack of transfer activity this window yet again by our club all points to one thing in my mind…and if when this latest window has passed still no signings have been made especially in the area of an accomplished striker (which beggars belief) , then for me it means that TFG are likely to be planning to part ways with Moyes in the Summer and are unwilling to invest any more money on the playing squad until a new manager is in place…just a hunch here, friend of mine also is convinced that the current owners are bored with the style of football currently being served up and were somewhat annoyed at our abject performances being knocked out of both cup competitions so cheaply this season.
For me, I personally feel Moyes should be given another season, but we shall see.

I would like a change of manager, but i'd be surprised if they do bin off Moyes. They're American investors, not football fans. The club is an investment, and under Moyes, it has gone from teetering on relegation to midtable nothingness - the football is dreadful, but in their eyes, the progress is substantial, and will bring positive financials back to them. I would be very surprised if they care too much about how turgid the actual matches are.
Moyes is doing a fantastic job on paper, just an incredibly underwhelming one on the pitch.
31 Jan 2026 12:45:27
I would want Moyes to stay, where we are in the Premiership is excellent after what we have been through, a couple more windows and we I’ll be back with the so called big boys.
31 Jan 2026 12:59:24
They’ve moved managers on at Roma when things weren’t working out. The remit Moyes will have been given when he came in has well and truly been met though. Still hopeful of a signing or two.
31 Jan 2026 12:02:03
Moyes never gave youth a chance?
Rooney, Osman, Anichebe, Vaughan, Rodwell, Armstrong.
He bought a young John Stones and put him in the Everton team.
Not saying all the listed players were amazing, but to say Moyes has never given youth a chance is a tad harsh.

31 Jan 2026 12:13:22
Didn't stones make his debut under brown shoes?
31 Jan 2026 12:29:43
Rooney was a generational talent, Osman was around 23/24 before he got any significant game time, and he never actually gave Stones a game - he made his debut in August 2013, 3 months after Moyes left.
Anichebe, Vaughan and Rodwell are fair enough, but even so, we're talking a very small handful across a VERY long period of time.
There's also players like Barkley who he gave very fleeting cameos to, who was clearly quality (at that moment in time) , but he absolutely refused to start - then he immediately became our most important player under Martinez the next season (alongside Stones) .
I think with Moyes, it's similar to Mourinho - you're right that there's examples of where he has given them a chance, but the story is much more about the players he hasn't given a chance to, and when he is refusing to give them a chance in favour of players you KNOW will put in a terrible performance, that's when i start pulling my hair out. If one of the u21's even has both legs and his boots laced properly, the worst he can be is as bad as Beto. Why doesn't he just give them a chance instead of naming a bench full of goalkeepers.
31 Jan 2026 12:01:27
I don’t really get this not strong enough line, I mean the Premiership is virtually a no contact league now. Not fit enough I could understand, but not strength.
I’m old enough to remember watching a skinny Irish lad named Best. Now he played back in the day when defenders could kick you and it was deemed a fair tackle.
Not the strongest player but had bags of talent, so much so that he left most of these cloggers on their arse.
So let’s stop being obsessed with strength and focus on talent. If they have the talent then let them play.

Completely agree, BMD. It's a complete myth in the modern game for 99% of players. There is countless players who have been world class and very slight and weak; it's just an antiquated view from managers the game has left behind.
31 Jan 2026 10:54:48
“I’m not sure that he would get the opportunities in the position we bought him to play, so I need to think how I can do it. At the moment we’re not really mad to let too many people go because our squad isn’t big enough. "
I would have thought Aznou being a left back, he was bought in for that position, where it is only Mykolenko who is the competition there. If so, then that above quote is mental. If he is meaning he was bought in to play left wing, that is also mental, not only for the fact that he isn't a left winger but also because Grealish is out injured for the season.
I know it was only a late cameo but he showed more in that than McNeil does on the left and he also got stuck in and looked more competent in the physical battle than Mykolenko did. To not get an opportunity to show a bit of himself is simply criminal and unfair.

Moyes has done what he was brought in to do. Time to say thanks and goodbye because I genuinely believe he will now hold us back. Get Carsley in a forward thinking coach with fresh ideas and history of winning things.
31 Jan 2026 11:46:54
It does leave you wondering BN.
31 Jan 2026 11:58:31
Maybe he's really been signed as a Goalkeeper, otherwise it makes no sense at all.
31 Jan 2026 12:06:28
I think at some time maybe not today Moyes has to try him as a wing back especially now we have Branthwaite covering the left side, having Branthwaite on the left, possible now in a back three, give that physicality, pace and the ability to hold the ball up with composure, this will help an attack minded wing back, unfortunately Mykolenko is not a wing back! at this level.

30 Jan 2026 23:28:08
If Anzou isn't deemed strong enough for premier then Graham has no chance. It won't matter how many goals he scores. Kids a class act though and a great finisher.
31 Jan 2026 00:04:47
Well we will never know if Anzou or Graham would be any good in the premiership because they will not be given a chance, at least not by us under Moyes. Not sure about ther contract situation but hopefully anther club will not recruit them and then the players show us what we will have missed.
31 Jan 2026 07:40:56
He'll get 20 goals in 10 games in the u21s next season and we'll sell him to the championship for £2m without even giving him a minute ?
Still can't believe we let Simms go.
31 Jan 2026 08:21:02
Braiden Graham, no doubt he can finish from any position or angle, reminds me of a young Michael Owen, will Everton bring him “on” the right way?
{Ed025's Note - i think that will depend on the manager Uran..
31 Jan 2026 08:55:02
It always seems to be “not ready or not strong enough or coming on nicely, needs to be …. whatever”
We can all see he is still young looking but he makes finishing off a move into a goal look easy. He’s a natural goal scorer, Messi would have been a similar size at his age, They need to start introducing some of our young strikers on the bench now until the end of the season, what have we got too lose? Good luck to the lad, At least he is playing with a smile on his face.
{Ed025's Note - thats where i dont get the 2 keepers on the bench Uran, surely a young lad playing well would be a better option even if he is not used, it would get him integrated with the senior players and could be seen as a reward for his efforts mate...or is that just me?..
31 Jan 2026 09:31:57
Im with you Ed, nothing gets on my breasts more than 2 keepers on the bench. Remember the days when a keeper got injured and an outfield player would go between the sticks. Just a waste of a sub space. You're never going to bring once 3rd keeper but you just might give a youngster 5 or 10 minutes if you are winning.
{Ed025's Note - absolutely Dev..
31 Jan 2026 09:36:21
Moyes never seems to give youth a chance, Anzou was amazing when he came on v Sunderland!
Did anyone watch that winger Reyes Cleary who played for Barnsley v L'pool?
He was MOTM .
Good dribbler of the ball and unlucky not too score.
Can't understand why managers don't give championship players a chance? Couple of my mates who were at the match said he was brilliant.
31 Jan 2026 09:50:58
Sorry Cleary is a league one player. Gave the kopites the runaround.
31 Jan 2026 10:48:45
You are absolutely right Ed, hard to comprehend how Moyes is thinking, why have a second string if you are not interested in them? this is the fault with the club, this is why Everton seem to have issues every season, they are not together, they say they are a family club! Far from it in my opinion, the managers should be galvanising the teams together, speaking highly of the up and coming youngsters but Moyes and Dyche are of the same, no inspiration, no wonder DCL was saying how different it is at Leeds United, a down too earth feeling of togetherness, he’s only say this because it never felt it at Everton!
However Ed this should be a directive from the CEo of the club and it should be his job to make sure that the manger whoever it maybe is totally committed to galvanising all levels with inspiration and never ever put two Keepers on the bench!
{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..
31 Jan 2026 11:04:13
Moyes doesn't like youth players, never has. If going to stick with this negative manager, we may aswell pack the academy in. Aznou played 10 mins against a good PL outift, look the best/most willing player on the pitch for those 10 mins (fresh legs granted) . but never gets another minute and now will leave.
Dibling treated like he's the antichrist. can't buy minutes but cost 40million and looked great at saints for a full year in prem when younger. Moyes killed his confidence.
Braiden Graham could get 2 mins vs Liverpool, score 7 goals and Moyes would still never play him again citing his usual 'not ready, not strong enough, needs experience' bs.
{Ed025's Note - yeah its very frustrating PB i must say..
31 Jan 2026 11:56:43
Is good to think that some of us are thinking the same.
Let’s be honest, if Barry came to Everton at 13 years old would he be in our first team now? Would we have persevered to help him like we have helped the Barry we just paid 20mil for? I don’t think so, Barry would be no different to Simms, we never gave Sims a chance, we stripped out all of his confidence, he was electric along side Gordon in our youth team.
We must have other young strikers stars in the youth set up not just Graham!
Sometimes I can’t always see the point in sending them out to get clobbered in the lower leagues, that could be ok if you are Chelsea Man City that are over loaded with high calibre talent but this is Everton that can’t score goals, we have paid 50 million between Beto and Barry and none of them know how to hold the ball up and bring others into play, a basic skill that should of been developed as a youth player.
30 Jan 2026 19:18:20
Hi ed025 what does everyone think of McNeil going to forest, personally I don’t think he will be missed and wouldn’t even mind if we sold him and kept the money for the summer revamp of the squad and even give some of the younger players a go in his place because he ain’t done much for the past 12 months to justify his wages or place in the team.
Also to skylark and dms I always enjoy reading your thoughts and even though other posters might not always agree with them it’s obvious to us all that you genuinely care about our great club and I think everyone will agree we want the best for Everton, so for me keep posting both of you.
{Ed025's Note - for me Andy Dwight is done at Everton mate, never really hit the heights in his time with us but was a decent squad player i feel, hopefully we will buy players with a higher ceiling as we progress mate..

Just read an article saying Forest want to sign an Everton player compared to Declan Rice. You can compare Johnny Vegas to him too, what do they mean.
31 Jan 2026 08:33:20
I’m just praying it’s true. McNeill is lazy and utter tosh and Dyche is stupid enough to bite hoopefully.
31 Jan 2026 11:31:11
Get rid and play ndiaye Lw and and play Dibling Rw as until he starts playing more to get that consistency i can't say if he is actually decent or not. We will see what moyes does in a couple of hours with his selections will he play 3 at the back But I reckon mcneil is going to start unless the Forrest rumour is true going for 0.1 today ndiaye penalty COYB'S ???.

He can’t be worse than that Dwight McNeil fellow.
31 Jan 2026 10:33:38
His Chelsea wages are now irrelevant if he is a free agent.
30 Jan 2026 15:22:35

No one’s driving anyone away. Keep it respectful, share your opinions, all welcome.
30 Jan 2026 17:57:03
dms don’t let one or two give you any gip mate, we all think we know what’s best for Everton, I enjoy your input as I do with skylark, don’t let the minority drive you out buddy your better than that.
30 Jan 2026 17:58:58
True JBtoffee. I've been on posts where dmsblues has agreed with me and disagreed with me. As I have with him. Just because you have an opinion it doesn't mean your right. Everyone has difference of opinion but life goes on either way. Just be respectful. It's when insults get fired towards you that makes you wonder whether it's worth it for banter site.
30 Jan 2026 18:05:03
Is there a post I have missed here? Can’t spot anything other than people talking about Grealish and Moyes.
30 Jan 2026 18:05:44
“Please don’t leave Dms” in Gazza’s crying voice.

Sorry dms, please forgive me.
30 Jan 2026 18:43:28
I can't see anything either BlueNose but something's ticked him off. I enjoy reading the posts and having some input. I think when replies start getting personal that I'd probs take a break. Luckily I've had not bad replies to my posts. yet lol.
30 Jan 2026 21:26:26
I've had a few, but it's a banter site. Sometimes I throw comments out to get a convo going. Deep down we all love our club and all have our own opinions on how it could be better. Being an Evertonian is not easy.
30 Jan 2026 21:55:49
I disagree with a lot on here, but some views help put mine into perspective, we all have blue tinted glasses on here some are just a different shade of blue. If it was so easy to see and do everyone would do it and we would all draw.
31 Jan 2026 09:08:55
My only rules when posting on here are:
1) I try not to post straight after a defeat as my emotions are often running too high.
2) The other one is I try not to post when I’ve had a few sherbets, as again, I might come out with a load of old claptrap (yes more than usual) .
I love this page and hearing all your opinions.
P. S. I’m currently away in County Limerick on a 3 day bender, so rule 2 has the chance of being severely tested today!
{Ed025's Note - have a great time Benny..
31 Jan 2026 09:38:20
I love reading the difference we all have in opinions we are all a unique individual in our own right, I type and delete more posts than I make, have an input here and there, but mostly I enjoy everyone’s take on what they think is best whether I agree with it or not.
30 Jan 2026 11:17:00
Whats you're foughts on jack grealish ed 025 saying if he needs surgery he will be out for rest of season have we got a loan with obligation to buy him and would his wages be a problem me personally I doubted him on his first arrival but he's proved me absolutely wrong since his time at the club if he can just get in the box tiny bit more and have few more shots at goal he's a no brainer for me to buy him if the transfer fee is reasonable.
{Ed025's Note - my opinion of Jack, - great player, great team man, sells lots of shirts and seems to love it at Everton...negatives, astronomical wages, has issues with alcohol, is 30 so no sell on value,
i believe we could get him for £25m which is a steal but he would really have to lower his wage demands Andy...hes on £15.6M per year, i would love to keep him mate but only if he lowered his wage demands..

Gutted. What an impact he had at the start of the season. Interesting to see where this goes from here. Wonder whether he might take the cash of a foreign move now his England career looks to have run its course.
{Ed025's Note - yeah JB i think we can safely say his England career is over mate, this World cup was last chance saloon i think..
30 Jan 2026 17:59:12
I think operation or not we won’t see him on the pitch this season, still think we should sign him in the summer, good player.
30 Jan 2026 17:59:52
I personally can’t see Everton taking a gamble on him, he’s a great player no doubt but he’s too expensive for Everton even if came on a free wages that only a super club could afford over a period of two / three year contract.
30 Jan 2026 18:36:58
Age and wages against him now. Need to look for a young winger with pace.

Not sure if it’s just me but Moyes seems to be coming over a bit spiky when answering some of the questions, no smiles, gives the impression that he doesn’t want to inform the fans about the squad’s current situation.
