Just a thought, but with so much concern over our lack of a decent striker, given the depth of talent on our bench, could we not play with a false nine and shuffle the pack to allow this?

15 Sep 2025 14:21:50
So who would you play as a false 9?
15 Sep 2025 15:05:02
They were both that bad against Villa, I would be up for this tbh.
Lets face it. Beto or Barry against Van Dijk and Konate will be childs play. They are apparently strikers who thrive off the physical battle but will be comfortable to handle.
Dibling played there for Saints last season a few times and Ndiaye did for Sheff U in a very physical league.
At least they would both make intelligent runs in behind. They have pace and ability on the ball. Slide Ndiaye in where Barry was the other day and he puts Mings on his arse and slots it home.
Would love to see Rohl come in the centre against Liverpool. Thought defensively and energy-wise he was a clear improvement on Tim when he came on.
15 Sep 2025 15:32:34
Beto bullied VVD and Konate last time out Bluenose.
15 Sep 2025 16:07:44
Davey won’t play Beto against Liverpool on Saturday surely to goodness.
15 Sep 2025 16:27:38
100% Beto starts if fit. Ok people slating him but against Liverpool last game out he was immense.
ATM he is the best we have, I as a supporter will actually support him, even the "freak" Haaland misses chances galore including 2 very good chances yesterday.
15 Sep 2025 17:07:00
Didn’t Beto score in the derby last season?
15 Sep 2025 17:26:28
Exactly JB and played key part in Tarks equaliser.
As well as being a handful at Anfield, Saturdays game will carry a lot of emotions especially with memories of Jota getting the winner.
{Ed025's Note - i think we have been playing with a false 9 all season, you cant get a more false 9 than Beto and Barry imo.. :)
15 Sep 2025 17:37:18
Far as I can remember he had 1 of his better games against them lot, he works hard and many fans want hard working players, yeah he’s not great but he’s best we got, give the guy a break.
15 Sep 2025 17:46:21
Your dead right there Ed mate, reading that Davey may play Dibling as a false no 9 on Sat.
15 Sep 2025 18:46:24
Beto is cra9 but 100% he starts if fit. Baz is a million miles away and one for future. Why oh why didn't we get Vardy? False 9 talk is so everton, just as the world reverts back to up and at em football, our lot want Spain 2008 got to chuckle.
15 Sep 2025 20:28:17
Remind me where is Vardy playing now?
15 Sep 2025 21:12:20
Beto bullied van duck in the last derby.
15 Sep 2025 22:27:08
I reckon he’ll play Beto but he has to make subs earlier if it’s not working.
16 Sep 2025 04:52:35
I'd play Dibling as a false 9. He has the ability to do the role easily.
We spent good money on Barry and it seems a very odd signing considering our desperation for a striker. I definitely would've signed Vardy instead.
It's a massive test against the squatters but I reckon our attack will leave them dizzy.

Looking forward to our match on Saturday, really think we can get some points from this game, the lads will be up for this and Jack and co will be relishing it, top stage to show how good they really are, our defence and midfield as good as it's ever been, just have to sort out up front and we will take all 3 points.

I’m thinking the same GB.
The reds have not played well at all this season. Spawny isn’t even the word for them at the minute.
15 Sep 2025 17:07:39
At the very least, we can expect us to give them a game, and they’re not playing particularly well at the moment.
15 Sep 2025 09:36:21
I love the football we're playing, I love the new stadium, but the transport situation is a joke for everyone, but particularly if your a supporter with mobility problems.
The club are not primarily responsible for this mess, that lies with the local authority that have had at least four years to address this problem, the club have attempted to address the situation but if you have mobility problems, it's a nightmare.
Taxis are not the solution, particularly the distance from the ground, then when you get there you have to stand for well over an hour, nowhere to site, or any access to toilets.
It cannot be beyond the wit or imagination to provide a bus, nearer to the ground, surely cheaper than a fleet of taxis, know the local roads are a problem but even if people had to sit on a bus, they could at least sit down.
Please this is not an ungrateful moan, but reflects the views of all the disabled supports left in a real distressing situation, it is the local authority primarily responsible, but the clubs solution, does simple not work.

Thanks for pointing this issue out "Always blues". I am hoping to get over to see a game or two over the next two seasons from the US. I don't consider myself to have mobility problems but I am 85 so have to take that into consideration when going anywhere. Hopefully they will sort out the issue soon for older people like myself and for those who are worse off, especially for those who attend games on a regular basis.
15 Sep 2025 20:03:18
I’d have hoped once inside the plaza, the treatment of fans with mobility issues was good. There seems to be lots of space and accessibility options.
The whole transport network around the area is a mess. It’s good to see they have put on more trains but a shuttle bus for those who need it would be useful. They have had years to put things in place and it feels like the council are playing catchup after the first test event. Every man and his dog knew a stadium of this size would require a network to manage tens of thousands of people. Hopefully, it will get sorted soon.
15 Sep 2025 21:16:30
Forgot my key for disabled but didn't have to queue, people are very understanding. So that wasn't a problem. Beer wasn't a problem but food was. Parking dear god ended up giving a fella £20, gave us a muffin and water at the end though. Happy days.

Thanks Ed001, a good read. If only Beto or Barry could have finished off one of the chances they had, hopefully next week will be a different story and we don't do a Burnley,
Mike.

I am shocked and saddened by Ricky Hatton death I don't know the reason but maybe mental health! A legend to his football club. But these organisations screw everything. It does play on your mind if you are going to be relegated or a points deduction. It is basically mental health you have to go through as fans. I say stand up and be counted as we believe in you.

14 Sep 2025 22:53:15
Are you relating Ricky's passing to City's potential charges?
15 Sep 2025 11:38:06
Celebrate the man and wait for the official report as and when. Some idiot on TS yesterday as the news was breaking was trying to shoe horn in his own "theory" and as you say, poor lifestyle and other well publicised affiliates were mentioned. Pretty grotesque and disturbing for Hattons friends and or family if listening. Let's get back to the dog wagging the tail.
15 Sep 2025 13:23:47
Yes Ricky Hatton is a sore 1 gave us some great nights in boxing man city owe him so much put them on the map along with oasis without them city would be oblivious rip hitman.

Man United are a mess. From owners saying they are skint and need to let staff go then spending millions on players to a manager that’s so nice he could work in customer services department for faulty towers.
The side looks completely disjointed. They’re in such a mess it seems no matter who they sign they will still be bang average at best. Their better days are behind them and their issues are generational. There will be many more years of this for them as I see no light at the end of the tunnel for them.
15 Sep 2025 06:27:52
Haha faulty towers and Jim Radcliffes the double of basil but here lies the problem stop bringing overseas managers in and start using british and irish managers as if somebody like Roy keane or the likes couldn't do a better job but not our problem we've got one of Britain's finest utft.
16 Sep 2025 23:12:02
We could always give SD a good reference, send him there for an interview, and he would definitely be an improvement, be then, that wouldn't be hard ???.

14 Sep 2025 17:54:00
Jack must be relishing it.
14 Sep 2025 18:08:55
3 nil by halftime yesterday would have been fair.
14 Sep 2025 18:20:21
I’m quietly thinking it’ll be a draw….
14 Sep 2025 18:32:34
Not our neignbours anymore GB.
14 Sep 2025 21:54:41
Not lucky ?
I’ve thought for years they r in league with the devil! ?
Never known a team get so many decisions and wins in injury time!
This season they have been so unconvincing and yet 12/ 12 points and already their rivals to win league look like no chancers.
Having said all that, come on Saturday! Hate a 1230 ko but at last we will give them a game (I hope) . So even when Lucifer gets a Blue Boy sent off and gives them a dodgy penalty we can hold our heads up high!
This season is unbelievable for us Blues as I honestly see the gap between the 2 Mcr teams bigger than the gap between our 2 Liverpool teams…
Utd carry on downwards with a clown as a manager and will be flucked by PSR soon whilst we r on the up and up!

All these ‘I told you so’ posts and other nonsense about Beto need to stop. We have the squad we have it’s it’s far far better than the one we started last season with. He’s not amazing when he taps one in, and he’s not the worst striker we’ve ever had when he misses a couple. If Moyes thought he had a better option, he’d use it.
14 Sep 2025 19:16:24
It’s a banter site JB, chill out mate.
14 Sep 2025 20:04:15
JB is right. It should be a banter page (this one) but not all comments are banter.
15 Sep 2025 15:11:47
Have there been any posts saying 'I told you so'? You're right, it is a banter site but also a place for fans to discuss all things Everton and sometimes that involves talking about how good or bad players are. Too many on here seem to think they can police what others say which is ridiculous in itself. Rather than sarcastic comments, or telling people what they can talk about, why not add to the discussion?
15 Sep 2025 17:11:11
If it’s a banter site and everyone’s opinion is welcome, than that should apply to everyone. I think we are in agreement that Beto is not as good a striker as we should aspire to have in the team, but he is probably the best we have, and can be effective. To score the goals, you have to be in the position to score goals. Let’s hope he bags one on Saturday as he’s likely to start.
14 Sep 2025 13:09:46
I think it's about time that DM takes a look at the talent available to him in the youth teams and give them a go up front. They could do no worse than what we have to endure from Beto. Barry gets a pass for now as he is getting used to the league and, let's face it, it's a faster pace than anything he has been used to in his short career. He has potential but has time on his side.
Back to Beto. 15 to 20 goals a season? Not a chance in Hell! I get that some fans will defend our players to the hilt but I think even they will be looking at what he brings to the table and will be having second thoughts.
I'm sick of promising attacks breaking down due to his inability to time a run, to make space or to control the ball. It's shocking for a premier league player. Both Jack and KDH are putting decent balls into the area for him to attack only to see him fluff his lines. He costs us points as he is not converting those chances. Je spends more time in a game slapping himselfnon the head when he's fudged up another passage of play!
We should have brought in another forward before the window closed to give us another edge. Hopefully this will be addressed in January as we can't go the entire season with this man as the focal point of our attack. He works hard but that is about it, and that should be the minimum requirement anyway for a footballer.
How many of those that were vehemently defending him are still trying to convince themselves that he is good enough to play for us?
Agree0
Disagree0
14 Sep 2025 14:19:33
Of course he is constantly aware of our other Teams. 'I think it's about time' indeed. Moysie probably appreciates the micro managing ???.
14 Sep 2025 14:39:51
None of us were vehemently defending him. Yesterday was the worse I have seen any player regarding ball control. I just don't get it.
14 Sep 2025 14:44:05
Who in the youth is better? Better against premier league defender?
14 Sep 2025 14:47:09
'Indeed' it's about time he looked at the youth players as the senior forwards aren't up to scratch. Is that not obvious to you?
14 Sep 2025 15:08:06
Plenty of fans have been defending him through blue tinted glasses, any time someone made a post pointing out his deficiencies there were plenty shooting them down. On this site and others. I'm interested to hear what they think now. It's not only one game either, he has been a poor player since he came. A few goals have masked over this but it has been obvious he's not premier league level for a long time.
BB, 8d rather have a lo9k at what the younger players can do, they certainly couldn't do much worse than what we see beto do when selected. We've got a few who are well thought of, give them some game time. One thing is certain, beto is sh×te and should have been offloaded last window.
14 Sep 2025 16:04:11
It's not that simple as putting in a youth player. Stepping up from youth to the Prem is a massive step and a much bigger step than if it was from league 1 to prem.
Beto has heart and gives 100% but he has no control at all. For me I'd rather us stick with Barry and let him work his way into the speed of the Prem. Barry needs to up his work rate and not give up the chase with he could get away with in Spain but at least he can control the ball to let players get involved.
However, we still need a couple of windows to get this squad up to top 10 standards but at least they're all having a go.
The options aren't there at the club so we have to be patient.
14 Sep 2025 16:23:24
We bang on about youth not being ready but we gave rooney a chance at 16y old. Only 1 in youth team who stands out and that is Graham. But if we hoof long balls up top then its pointless playing him. But if our attacking 3 can thread balls through, then that lad can finish. Can't be any worse than Beto. And when Barry came on yesterday he looked clueless as to what to do. Only other solution is put Ndiaye up front and have alcaraz or dibling on RW.
14 Sep 2025 16:30:46
So the best and brightest were loaned to championship and L1 clubs yet calls for yoofs to step up to 1st team? Go find a dark room and scream into the void and save us from the nonsense.
14 Sep 2025 18:36:02
Bluejohnus not just the pace yesterday he (Barry) actually backed out of a challenge.
14 Sep 2025 18:42:27
FBS, contributing absolutely nothing as per usual with tripe replies ?
DM won't put one of the youth (or is it yoof, fbs) I understand the reasons etc. But the point is, I'd rather he did that than play beto every game as he has hit his ceiling and what we see is about as good as he is ever going to get. And he is crap.
14 Sep 2025 22:06:04
Won't deny it DMS with Barry. If I was on the pitch I would have put a 2 footer on him myself. However, he will learn that side of the game. He has got a first touch though and can bring others into the game which is more than Beto.
In terms of youth though. If Graham or anyone else for that matter doesn't score then the fans will get on his back. It happens every time. You've got to be sure he is ready for the 1st and can handle the heat from the fans.
Loaning then out for a couple of seasons really does help and he needs that before stepping up to 1st team level.
14 Sep 2025 11:29:36
First an foremost I have been backing beto on here I even said few weeks ago he will get 10/ 15 goals I'm having second doubts he had good few chances yesterday but martinez pulled off some great saves was good see merlin get game time me personally I would of thought alcarez or dibling would of came on in the 70 min mark but look apart from Leeds it does look positive but going out next Saturday for the Derby would love a point but anfield is a nightmare to go hope everyone has a good weekend UTFT.
