Just watched MOTD. Entire match summary focused on Liverpool, their first half performance, our poor defending then their start to the season. Such a poor reflection on the game.

Yeah it happens every time. If you watched the Arsenal game, you’d be convinced Liverpool absolutely dominated them from start to finish and should’ve had 5-6 goals despite really only having 1 chance all game.
21 Sep 2025 15:35:06
Danny is a prat.
21 Sep 2025 15:45:49
Commentators are so biased they all loooooooooove the Top Teams.
21 Sep 2025 15:53:47
Well you can’t expect it to get any better if they have someone from sky sports presenting it. Can’t believe they didn’t even give our goal any analysis. Usual rubbish as ever. They only ever want to talk about Liverpool or man united.

You only have to look at the treatment the likes of Gyokeres and Sesko get compared to Wirtz. Those 2 are being laughed at in the media (despite Gyokeres having 3 goals in 5 as I type this) and on that show when they have all the deluded social media fans on with Scholes and Carragher.
Compare that with Wirtz who has been genuinely awful and what does the media say? “Well it’s a new league, he needs time to adapt”.
21 Sep 2025 19:18:44
He hasn't been awful Swan! but I get your drift.
21 Sep 2025 09:45:43
Ok happy to be shot down here but here it goes. Love watching Ndiaye lads got lovely feet and balance but think he is wasted out wide. I would like to see him play the central striker role instead of the two lumps we have upfront.
The lad can hold the ball up well and can finish. We now have players who can actually play football so don't need to lump it up the pitch, something that let us down first half yesterday.
So front three of Grealish, Ndiaye and Dibbling. With KDH centre and Rohl/ Garner/ Gana holding.
Hard hat on!

BMD, Worth a try. Maybe start with Barry and change to what you suggest after 60 minutes. Leaving Beto on the bench might give him a kick up the backside being sat on the bench for 90 minutes. I expected seeing him more physical agains Van Dyke and Konate. We know from back end of last season that Beto is able to score goals but ask why not now. Does he want a move away, has there been a fall out?
21 Sep 2025 10:53:28
He doesn't stay wide though. Those 3 wander around with Grealish spending most time on flank. Just add Dibling.
21 Sep 2025 10:57:51
At the moment Beto is just wondering around the pitch at half pace and when he does get the ball he has no control and when he gets to a chance to score he fluffs it. Apart from tap ins I can't remember any spectacular goals he has scored. Just can't understand why he is played at all to be honest. Barry is not the answer either yet, so I would definitely try starting Ndiaye in the middle and bring in Dibling on the right, but unfortunately nobody listens to me.
21 Sep 2025 11:44:14
Good shout BMD we certainly cannot carry on with Beto, been saying for a while we need to change it, would still put a couple of the younger lads on the bench and ease them in for a few games, can’t be any worse than what we have at the moment mate.
21 Sep 2025 11:54:41
I agree that having Mdiaye play as a striker flanked by Grealish and Dibling with KDH behind should be the way forward until we can sign a proper striker in January.
Playing Barry for 60 minutes would just be 60 minutes wasted in my opinion. I really don't understand the Barry signing. We all knew that Beto wasn't the answer, but we then went out and wasted £27 Million on Barry who offers even less than Beto.
Finding a goal scorer in January is a priority ( even if we have to pay an inflated price ) that could help us make a push for Europe.
21 Sep 2025 12:06:41
You’d have to say it’s worth a shot. KDH and Grealish are playing great where they are. Dibling or Alcarez could play on the right. League Cup could be a good opportunity to try something out.
21 Sep 2025 13:57:02
There’s a reason most clubs have a big man upfront nowadays. Centre backs are way too strong and athletic.
Reminds me of the Mirallas thing “well why don’t we just play him upfront, he’s quick, a good finisher etc”
We tried it for 2 games and he didn’t get a touch of the ball, and this was years ago.
21 Sep 2025 14:28:59
Understand what you’re saying, but it still might be worth a shot. Plenty of small forwards have had great success in the Premier League over the years.
21 Sep 2025 16:02:23
There are many strikers out there that aren’t as big as centre backs. Watkins, Vardy, Jota are just a few. They aren’t much bigger even might be smaller than Ndiaye.
It might be pace or 18 yard awareness but it’s certainly not size that gets them goals.
21 Sep 2025 18:24:16
Watkins is still physical as well as being good in the air, Vardy was absolutely rapid (compared to Ndiaye) and Jota rarely ever played as a lone striker in his premier league career.
Ndiaye isn’t slow, but not rapid and he isn’t physical enough to overcome that.
Maybe Moyes will try it and it will work, I don’t know, but I can understand why he hasn’t. Isak, Ekiteke, Haaland, Gyokeres, Delap, Sesko, Woltemade. All of them are either very quick or physically capable of matching the modern centre backs. There isn’t a small quick striker in the premier league right now that is near the top level.
21 Sep 2025 19:27:54
Agree with that Swan. Betos goals have come facing the goal not receiving. Our three/ four (Dibling) should be made for a big lad. I have watched one bloke whose receiving touch is a bouncy castle and a 'young' potential who can't jump, scared of a tackle but apparently brings others into the game, when actually they bring themselves.
21 Sep 2025 23:13:42
Messi would have been binned long ago if that was the case. Though not Messi Ndiaye has shown that he is strong enough to handle anything thrown at him.
21 Sep 2025 23:46:35
Messi is just a ridiculous comparison, not only is he on another planet to Ndiaye technically, but Messi was rapid.
No one said shorter strikers have never worked. I’m saying there is a reason clubs in the premier league don’t tend to use them anymore and those who do, struggle.
21 Sep 2025 08:41:24
I have no idea what a false 9 is (10 - 1 perhaps) but how about playing 4 2 4. O'Brien, Tarks, Keane, Garner, Rhol Gueye, Dibling, Ndyae, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish. JB once fit?

Usual back combination of a back 5, including Pickford
Garner
Gana
Dewsbury-hall
Dibbling
Ndiaye
Grealish
That said I think Beto and Barry will be the go to for now.
21 Sep 2025 11:45:33
Suggested that last week and got WTF from you, what’s changed your mind.
21 Sep 2025 14:35:40
Never said WTF dude. I waa pointing out that Beto is the starter wether like it or not. And I think it was more to do with suggesting starting Graham up top.
I still think Beto or Barry will start. As I said in my post above.
21 Sep 2025 15:47:46
Nah not you Bunkbeds DMs I think, but whatever we all want what is best for Everton mate.

Moyes has done a great job since returning but it is starting to get a bit ridiculous how he leaves making subs until there are only minutes left in the game to try and change things.
Charlie and Dibling should have been on with at least 15/ 20 to go. 4 minutes is not enough.
When players are visibly leggy, it only makes it more frustrating.
Agree0

21 Sep 2025 08:09:54
I get it and don't disagree. However, sometimes when you're on top and you bring players on, it takes away some momentum.
I thought Dibbling, Barry and Charlie all made really positive contributions which is brilliant to see. We now have genuine talent on the bench who can come on and make a difference.
Hopefully Moyes will see that and be more willing in games to make changes earlier.
21 Sep 2025 08:21:33
Dibling and Alcaraz yes but from what I saw not Barry, worse than Beto if that is possible. 22 is not young by the way.
21 Sep 2025 08:55:18
Really pleased with our progress so far but it is obvious our weak point is centre forward. Beto is not at the standard we need and Barry needs to play with the under 21 to get up to scratch if that is indeed possible. If Moyes is not going to trust Graham to play then we need to get Dibbing involved more. He has played as a striker before and I, m sure he has better ball control than Beto. Either that or switch him to the right and play Iliman central. Surely it is worth trying until we can address in January or Summer. Moyes has already proved he can play players in other positions, O, Brien and Garner, so it’s not beyond him.
21 Sep 2025 09:28:40
22 is Young it’s just that people seem to think we should have 17 year olds in the team.
21 Sep 2025 11:02:45
Nobody said 17 year olds in the Team. Some/ most of these players have been in the system since 7 or 8, that is what I meant by 22 not being young. 17 not old enough to drink but can carry a gun.
21 Sep 2025 14:16:06
In football terms 22 is still young. Beto is the worst forward we have had in a long, long time and, at 27, he won't improve very much at all. Barry has the potential to improve but he isn't ready to lead the line right now. A new league, much faster pace than he's used to, he's playing against better defences than he's used to etc. A few games in the U21's to get his scoring boots on could help. I don't think we should be writing him off after a month or so of being here. Beto is shockingly bad, has been for a long time yet he was getting a pass by most people, yet Barry is getting pelters? Go figure!
Agree, bn, it seems that our last few managers don't like to make subs too early, even when the game is crying out for fresh legs. We have a better bench than we have for a long time, get them on the pitch to try and affect games for half an hour or so rather than a few minutes with little time to have any real input.
20 Sep 2025 19:44:29
Positive aspects of the performance.
But I'll wait a while before writing off Barry. Exact same thing happened with Pickford and Garner. Not great fair few games and immediately the super blues started saying "well clearly they aren't good enough ?". If we wrote players off after 1-2 starts, our team would consist of Ndiaye and Grealish with no one else.
People saying Vardy or DCL. I'll just assume you haven't watched football since 2022. Waiting for the "oh let's bring Aguero out of retirement" or "why not offer Origi a contract? " Shouts from people who just don't watch football outside of Everton once a week.

20 Sep 2025 22:01:01
Wait as long as you want Swan the fact is neither Beto or Barry are up to it. Now Barry might improve, but until he does he should be no where near the first team. As for Beto, well he’s just poor.
Moyes seriously needs to reconsider his tactics and this insistence on playing a big lump as our main striker. We play better football with the ball on the floor.
20 Sep 2025 22:10:39
Swan117. Beto zero confidence, his ball control is awful. Barry can't jump, backs out of challenges, what is all that about. Who scouts these guys?
21 Sep 2025 02:41:42
This “fact” was again said about Pickford and Garner. We have no choice but to wait until January, Barry is better at holding the ball than Beto and brings people into play better. He’s also 22.
21 Sep 2025 04:17:51
Who does he bring into play? Have you seen him head a ball? Jump for a ball? tackle?
21 Sep 2025 06:36:58
Guys neither are good enough right now. But they are all we have. To be fair to Barry he has had less minutes to develop than Beto but it’s not too exciting now is it.
We’ll all be hoping for a striker in January. It’s an absolute travesty that we can’t offer better quality up front given the talent coming from midfield and out wide but it was always going to be hard getting everyone in one window.
{Ed025's Note - yeah Ace still a work in progress and it is what it is i suppose..
21 Sep 2025 11:05:24
Like the throw away 'I suppose'. I supposed the boss was bringing me coffee in bed this mornjng. ???.
21 Sep 2025 14:03:43
Yes I’ve watched him, he played well against Brighton, came on yesterday and was actually able to keep the ball unlike Beto.
“Have you seen him tackle? ”
It goes back to the Lukaku/ Jelavic thing again. I’m not bothered about how he tackles. Moyes said he wasn’t ready right away but had no choice to throw him in, Villarreal fans said he has potential but is still raw.
He comes in and is a bit raw and our fans act all surprised.
James Garner’s first 10 games for us were shocking and people said he was a league 2 player. If it was up to half of our fans, we wouldn’t have signed KDH, Grealish (who has been shocking for the last 2 seasons at City) etc.
I remember saying we needed to resign Gueye and literally every reply was people saying “that’s stupid, he’s finished” and “we can do far better, like Barkley”.
20 Sep 2025 18:15:11
And one or two was trying to convince me last week Beto was our top striker and has to start today, well no thank you, defo don't want to see him again for a while, has to be Barry and a couple of youngsters on the bench pronto.

20 Sep 2025 19:55:15
Don’t agree JB mate.
20 Sep 2025 20:12:09
GB prior to this game, Beto was first choice. Did he show up? No.
Barry showed promise
Until we sign a £40-70m 20 goal striker Beto will still be one of our front line strikers. Like it or not.
{Ed025's Note - can you tell me when Barry showed some promise BB?..i must have missed it mate...seriously..
20 Sep 2025 20:45:27
Barry will be in instead of Beto against West Ham, Davey will not put up with second rate performances from Beto he’s a bloody joke.
20 Sep 2025 21:23:41
Who is our ‘top striker’ then GB?
20 Sep 2025 21:59:25
Neither striker did well today.
I really like Beto but he had a poor game.
Neither striker could trap a bag of cement today.
20 Sep 2025 22:13:36
Because from what I have seen impossible as it seems Barry is worse than Beto.
20 Sep 2025 20:46:30
Agree Ed025. The way I saw it we replaced on player with no clue with another player with no clue.
{Ed025's Note - its killing us Dentie, all that good work from a really tidy midfield is going to waste mate..
21 Sep 2025 06:35:27
I would play Braiden Graham up front. Far better than what we have in the senior squad.
NSNO IMWT UTFT.
21 Sep 2025 13:34:36
No harm in that WelshTrucker as I've been calling for Graham to be given a chance. its not working with beto or barry so what do we have to lose. You never know, Graham could bang em in from the get go.
20 Sep 2025 17:30:17
Despite the loss I’m heartened that we have started playing football again (at times) .
I think we should pick up a fair few points over the next month or so. West Ham, Palace, Fulham and Newcastle all seem beatable at BMD. There are trips away to Sunderland and Utd that also feel winnable.
If only we could score with a forward!

20 Sep 2025 17:48:51
If only we had a forward?.
20 Sep 2025 18:07:48
Yep agree BR after the 2 goals we gifted them we played well and also second half we were more than a match for them, one word about the ref the blatant foul on Jack in the first Half which went unpunished they then score just after it and then in the second half Jack takes a free kick too quick and gets booked unbelievable then we get three minutes added at the end when it should have been more than double that, ohhhhh to be a top club and a favourite of the ref.
20 Sep 2025 19:14:41
Just noticed that we have a fair few games on a Monday night this season. Might have to adjust my expectations as we never do well midweek.
20 Sep 2025 20:46:05
That was the old Everton mate.
20 Sep 2025 22:16:08
Monday now midweek. Is this a new Labour promise, 'more days in your week'.

20 Sep 2025 18:08:46
Stupid comment that boat has sailed glad he’s gone.
20 Sep 2025 19:27:54
Don’t think it is a stupid comment - he’s far better than Beto and Barry.
{Ed025's Note - thats a very low bar Pojo..
20 Sep 2025 19:39:07
I love this “he’s far better” at what?
We’d be in the EXACT same position if we kept DCL. He probably would’ve missed Beto’s chance against Wolves so we likely would have 1 goal less than we do.
Boring revisionism happens every time with our fans. Happened with Rodwell and Kean. “Oh if only we kept them they are so amazing oh my god” when, reality is, they were garbage for us. DCL scored a goal today against the same team Beto did and people on social media acting like we’ve just let go of Harry Kane for nothing.
20 Sep 2025 19:57:47
Maybe Betoshould take up limbo dancing Ed mate.
{Ed025's Note - he is simply just not good enough GB, his inability to hold the ball up or even winning a ball in the air is killing us, to gain possession we have to rely on a mistake by the opposition because it seems Pickford just whacks it upfield and back it comes...then rinse and repeat mate..
20 Sep 2025 21:25:47
He’s not good enough. I don’t think that’s for debate. It’s Beto or Barry at the moment though. And all all of this chat takes away from an otherwise good showing.
20 Sep 2025 22:10:55
I think Swan has lost his sense of reality. DCL, for all his failings, is a class (or maybe two) above Beto and Barry. With the attacking players we have now, I’d back DCL to get 15 goals this season, which is probably more than Beto and Barry will get combined.
20 Sep 2025 22:17:33
Easy to say now, but DCL was bombed out of the club by fans who let him know he wasn’t welcome. Simple as that.
21 Sep 2025 02:44:14
The same DCL that missed about 20 1v1’s last season and has already missed 3 absolute sitters for Leeds is going to get 15 goals for us? Okay.
Again, revisionism, when Beto goes and the next one comes in, it’ll be the same thing. People say DCL is class above this or that but never state what he’s actually good at. He doesn’t run, can’t finish, can’t pass, got a decent leap on him and that’s it.
Swear some people are just fans of individual players and not actually fans of the club.
21 Sep 2025 04:26:18
DCL did well under Ancelotti, once he was told to stay in or around the box. With the players we have now, that is how he would play now. That ship though has sailed.
20 Sep 2025 20:48:41
Exactly Ed it’s not rocket science he’s bloody useless we want to keep our good start going we need something different, being Dibling, Barry Alcaraz or a youngster no more Beto or heaven help us mate.
20 Sep 2025 16:44:48
I'm sorry but we have to stop playing Beto. I know peoples arguments about Barry but he is clearly head a shoulders above Beto when it comes to touch and bringing people into the game.
The touch from Beto in their half that bounced all the way back into our half was shocking. He's a lovely fella and tries hard but that first touch is terrible and is costing us.
I don't think Barry done much wrong when he came on and brought others into the game. I don't think he's an impact sub but start him in games and he will get better.
I do believe though next summer Beto needs to go and 2 other strikers brought in. It has to happen if we are to take the next step.
On the game. After the first 30 mins we were really good and clearly we've got something starting here that can really be a genuine start to much brighter times.
Each passing game we look like we're getting stronger and stronger. Can't wait for the West Ham game.

20 Sep 2025 17:32:39
Beto's 1st touch is a back pass. Everytime ball goes to him its like watching a pinball ball ricochet around the table.
20 Sep 2025 17:34:11
Positive performance, don’t be daft.
20 Sep 2025 15:31:20
Too much respect govern in the first half, to a petty average side. They have rode their luck all season, and again, but it will catch up with then, and so will Arsenal.

20 Sep 2025 15:54:49
To much respect 1st half, maybe. But dude they ain't a pretty ave side. Good game, shame about the result but at 2-0 I feared the worst. 2nd half performance was very good. We will have a good season.
20 Sep 2025 15:56:53
Disagree. Think they are a very good side and we gave it a go! Last few years our side would’ve lost 4/ 5-0 after being 2 down at Anfield after 1/ 2 hour. Pulled one back and kept pushing, . Difference today was the quality finishing they had.
20 Sep 2025 17:24:33
First 20 mins was always going to be a test, we just sat back a bit too much and invited the pressure. Fair play, we rallied for the 2nd half and showed we can give most teams a game. They are a good team, no matter how painful that is to admit, far from average. With a proper, decent CF, we will be fine.
20 Sep 2025 17:35:00
Agree bluepotato. Past few seasons I've had a fear of dread playing the top teams. But this season it looks like we going to have a go at anyone, home or away.
20 Sep 2025 17:52:08
We just got our tactics wrong first half. Went back to playing hoofball. Really don’t need to do that anymore.
20 Sep 2025 19:34:05
LFC fan I peace. I like reading all the sites to see what's going on, I have to chime in on the above average side non sense. I seem to recall people saying UTD had the sign of a champion not playing their best but finding a way to win.
Ed 25 love ya man.
20 Sep 2025 20:04:11
Liverpool are a very good side, obviously. Quality throughout. Any sane Everton fan should be encouraged that we gave them a good game, dominated the second half, and came back when we would have buckled in previous seasons. All positive for me, onwards and upwards.
21 Sep 2025 08:32:35
420FL Honestly don't think Always Blues meant to type pretty average. Gave you a game 2nd half though. Think we are a good side now, although would like to borrow one of your two average strikers.
21 Sep 2025 09:00:28
Think Liverpool will win the league. We are showing signs of being a really good team.
