We look like a completely different team with those two changes in midfield.

Like chalk and cheese different.

Seen a bit of (yes I know its normally a load of bull) talk about us offering a contract to DCL. Surely that cab’t be true?

Nooooooooooooooooooo.

2.) 30 Apr 2025 19:58:57
Pay as you play?

He’s still the best forward we have but I feel we could do better.

He can’t be paid £100k a week to just turn up. Drop his base rate and offer him big bonuses for goals and games played…

I’ve no idea if that is possible but wouldn’t it be nice to rediscover his scoring form from that one year he was prolific?

3.) 30 Apr 2025 21:35:46
He’s just changed his agent and they have requested a meeting with DM to discuss his contract. Reported in the i news today.
It would be interesting to see how he performs in the post SD era with potentially better service from McNeill, Alcaraz and N’dyai. As much as I love Betos desire and determination, DCL keeps hold of the ball really well and his passing is better. Given decent service with players running off his lay offs I think he’d be a better choice. Chermiti needs game time as well but he’s missed a lot of game time.

4.) 30 Apr 2025 22:01:18
If true we have learned nothing and have no ambition, I hope it's all nonsense we cannot be this stupid.

5.) 30 Apr 2025 22:12:01
If we can pay him in handbags rather than money then I think it’s an ok deal and probs one that everyone involved would be happy with.

6.) 01 May 2025 08:03:14
Well we would have a striker who has cost nothing in a transfer fee, and is certainly better than what we have. Or we could go out and blow 25m on another striker like Beto?

7.) 01 May 2025 17:26:25
Good point Brass.

8.) 01 May 2025 18:12:08
I see so we keep a striker who doesn't score many goals and is constantly injured because it's better than paying for a new striker, well we are really moving forward aren't we, thought Davey had an eye for a bargain, is this the type of bargain he would look at?

If we get in at halftime just one goal down I’ll be surprised!

We are second best all over the park so far.

Evening all,

Now before I start this off I want to say that Neville Southall was and still is my ultimate Everton cult hero, but I thought his comments about Pickford this week were more than harsh.

I’m not sure where we’d be the last few seasons without him between the sticks.

1.) 15 Apr 2025 21:16:21
I think it's to do with how erratic he can be. For close range shot stopping, I don't think there's a better keeper in the prem. But big nev has his opinion and he's entitled to it.

2.) 15 Apr 2025 23:08:49
He is definitely entitled to his opinion Dentie. He was not happy about the lack of catching as well.

3.) 15 Apr 2025 23:24:08
Pulls no punches does big nev mate lol.

4.) 16 Apr 2025 00:24:56
Nev does have a point with keepers not catching anymore. I actually agreed with just about everything he said. always 100% honest.

5.) 16 Apr 2025 08:36:55
Benny I am with you mate, I think he says things that can be interpreted as too dismissive, especially with regard to JP.
I am sure we can all pick faults with Pickford, I have done in the past, however why atm? he isn't costing us points, he doesn't make us nervous. ( well not me anyway ) yes a bit harsh.

6.) 16 Apr 2025 16:40:57
Nev knows what he is talking about when it comes to goalkeeping. And he is correct about Pickford.

7.) 16 Apr 2025 17:06:11
Pickford is an outstanding keeper in today's game and not just ''OK'' or ''average'' to not acknowledge that as a fact, is bewildering.
Jordan has been a rock through thick and thin, and not just this season,

{Ed025's Note - i think he has a few flaws in his game GD but other than that i think he has been excellent mate, i would like him to command his area a bit more and come out for more crosses but maybe thats just me being over-critical..

8.) 16 Apr 2025 20:39:14
Well I suppose if there’s an opinion out there that should count it’d be from the best in the world in his field. No one is more qualified than Big Nev which means I’m all ears.

9.) 17 Apr 2025 11:39:58
Hardly any of the keeper's catch the ball these days and try to punch or parry it out and always end up conceding when it goes wrong must be how they are trained for some reason even with 1s I could catch comfortably. Wish JP would scream and shout at the lad's infront of him more aswell ? ? ?. He always seems to get caught out by shots from outside the box. but he is a top keeper in my eyes ? and dread the day we have to replace him. big nev though was the best by far Legend.

Hello all,

Just wanted to ask if there was a clear difference with Broja playing up front instead of Beto?

I know the lad is a bit off being match sharp, but wanted to get your views on it.

Benny Blue Nose

1.) 12 Apr 2025 19:48:42
I think Broja’s had a fair few seasons in the Prem and shown he can’t cut the mustard. Hasn’t worked at Chelsea, Fulham, Southampton or us. Too injury prone and not worth the £30m being banded around. Even for half of that, he’d be an expensive patient in the physio room.

Beto has had one half season. Has scored some goals and caused defenders some problems. I don’t think he will be first choice but he’s a better back up to Broja.

2.) 12 Apr 2025 20:19:05
Thanks BR.

Personally, I think we just cannot take a risk on anyone who may be crocked half the time.

3.) 12 Apr 2025 20:35:49
Broja not the answer for me I hope we can bring in two strikers this summer.

4.) 12 Apr 2025 23:37:32
Re broja. Would anyone be happy to have him on loan again next season? My only thoughts being he's been unlucky with injuries, maybe with a full pre season he could be quality next season (not saying to not go out and sign a striker but with dcl going we will need st least 2 strikers? )

5.) 13 Apr 2025 07:35:24
I’m with GB on this. I think we need two strikers in the summer.

I’d love to see Chermiti come good, but that is more of a hope at the minute.

6.) 13 Apr 2025 07:39:37
Same or worse injury wise as DCL, both on their day can be a hand full, that 'day' though may be at best once or twice a season (in DCL's case) .

7.) 13 Apr 2025 07:45:52
Don’t know Whitty. He’s not set the world alight at four prem clubs. I’d guess his wages would be quite high for a bench player/ third choice. The lack of funds we have should be spent wisely and I’m not convinced the likes of Broja, Harrison or Doucs fall into that category.

8.) 13 Apr 2025 09:32:15
The quality of a striker is moot if he’s not on the pitch. There’s a reason Broja isn’t wanted by his parent club and for the same reason he’s not good enough for us. We need quality and fitness. Let’s see what the summer brings.

9.) 13 Apr 2025 09:55:57
I was very loudly verbally disappointed last summer when he was coming in and the deal was crazy. Never wish injury on anyone but the loan has been a total disaster. His scoring records his injury record
It was all there to see and he came injured . The worst waste of time and money of the summer. Even that Maupay would have done better and saved us some money as Brojas wage is high. He is a lump and one day somewhere he will do well but we can't chance another loan and no way is he worth anything north of £5m and they want £25m. Not a chance unless he. bangs in a goal a game between now and end of season ain't happening.

10.) 13 Apr 2025 11:23:03
Think an improvement in our wide players and maybe a playmaker in midfield might help our loan strikers. Most of the time they are feeding of scraps. Saying that I still don't think we have found the right one yet.

I can see him going to a lesser league like Italy, or France. Other than that, maybe back to Sheffield?

I’m glad he hasn’t signed!

I still think he’d be better than any of our current first team regular full backs.

O’Brien is our best at the mo and he’s out of position.

Me too Swinners.

Lots of chat on FB of people being disappointed with it only being a 2 year contract. I actually think it makes sense in someways:

1) The obvious lack of financial commitment from us.
2) So many players go off the boil, or get injured, never to be the same again.

I know there is a risk of him going on a free, but I like seeing our club being a little more cautious financially.

Exactly right GB. Ndiaye and McNeill are a big upgrade on Harrison and Doucs.

Tim also looked solid as well.
