Richy off to Turkey for 3x his current salary. Guess we never stood a chance on that one. Money or heart.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Sep 2026 18:53:29
But I thought he loved us?

02 Sep 2026 18:59:50
What would you do, a family you're aged 29 with say 7 or 8 years left to play? Follow heart or 3 times wage.

02 Sep 2026 19:13:06
Heart would still pay significantly, and he's made a fair whack of dosh at Spurs.

Spurs are notoriously difficult. Sounds like they and his agents had other ideas, and he was never coming here.

02 Sep 2026 19:42:14
Really, could still happily live off what he earned at Spurs and would have had at Everton.

02 Sep 2026 20:02:40
He's a bloody multi millionaire. Not sure his family are going to struggle.

02 Sep 2026 21:06:21
He could retire on three months wage.

02 Sep 2026 21:52:09
He probably has ruined his body in the EPL. Time for half speed, and if someone's paying, well fair play. Guess we must have made some sort of ball park figure offer to his agent, and that's why he didn't come.

If we'd offered an improvement of his Spuds wage (which, at 29, is peak last bumper payday time) maybe we'd have got him in the building before that sniffling twerp would have upset him by changing the wages offer last minute?

02 Sep 2026 18:21:27
The next big issue we are going to have is a no club or player are going to jump at the chance to discuss any deal with us.
We find phantom problems to try to renegotiate the deal. A player could be 100% fit and rupture his ACL or something on debut.

No signing for £40m is without risk.
We have become a laughing stock and should have a whole new medical and recruitment team by Christmas.
If any of us messed up like this in our jobs, we would be out of a job. Pure and simple.

Agree8 Disagree0

02 Sep 2026 19:15:52
The same team that completes the Grealish deal and the Maitland Niles deal? Any chance that Balogun is just a bad apple?

02 Sep 2026 19:40:38
Depends on whether we were messing about with his wages.

A lot does not add up.

A well organised recruitment team would have had a proper backup sorted around 7pm if they spotted a problem. They should have contacted Dju or his knows how many other options out there rather than mess about with the deal.

02 Sep 2026 19:47:08
JBtoffee, you and me could have negotiated for a player that did not want anywhere else and for a player whose Club are desperate for funds.

02 Sep 2026 20:01:26
Plus those deals were probably completed before the joke of the Balogun deal came to light.
And picture this. you are in a job, you apply for a new job and get it, everything is agreed.
They found out you sprained your wrist last year, it probably won't, but it may flare up again, so they offer you 5-10k a year less to do the same job as they think it may affect your ability to do the job 100%, would you have 2nd thoughts about leaving the job you know, to work for them? I am well aware of using a sprained wrist as the injury could lead to a few jokes being made.

? It is a ridiculous decision and one every player is going to think about when the club talk to them.

02 Sep 2026 20:14:14
Do we know this is what definitely happened? If so, then yes, that's not an approach that's likely to go down well.
Either way, the recruitment team have failed miserably. 18 senior players is a dereliction of duty.

02 Sep 2026 18:13:59
Richy playing alongside Salah now. Anything else?

02 Sep 2026 17:37:37
Being an Evertonian is like being part of a victim support group. Jeez they know how to pis* on our chips time and time again.

We have no choice but to enter the free agent market and if the powers that be don’t do this, then Jesus Christ, we are in for a tough season.

We are already only a couple of injuries / suspensions away from a catastrophe and we’re 2 games in ffs.

1 of Icardi / Martial / Beletti for me.

Icardi know where the back of the net is.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Sep 2026 18:04:18
Last time Icardi had a decent season in the top flight was 5 years ago. Not only is he injury prone and would want huge wages; he's clearly got an attitude problem.

I know he was good on FIFA 18, but let's calm down.

02 Sep 2026 18:10:42
Calmness has nothing to do with it. We're left to pick the scraps. Which free striker is better placed to sign in the next week?

02 Sep 2026 18:22:41
I'd rather we not spend massive wages on a problem who also doesn't suit the way we play.

02 Sep 2026 18:28:12
So you would rather have Barry for 4 months getting flogged on his own. You must be in cuckoo land, the lad can barely play a full 90 minutes.

02 Sep 2026 19:54:33
Ah yes "if you don't want this specific player then that means you don't want any player".

Excellent logic there, big chief.

02 Sep 2026 17:09:08
Does anyone understand what appeared on Balogun's medical?

Nørgaard passed his, despite clearly being injured, and whatever we discovered, it clearly wasn't enough to pull the plug entirely - just attempt to change the deal, and apparently treat him so badly he decided to walk.

{Ed025's Note - i hear it was because the medical was not 100% trouble free Alex and we decided to re-negotiate the terms, Monaco agreed to this then in our infinite wisdom we tried to alter his wage terms which upset Balogun mate and so he decided to walk..

Agree0 Disagree4

02 Sep 2026 17:53:16
30k a week less than offered, that is what was on his medical.

02 Sep 2026 17:56:34
That's dreadful. Think of the wages we've got off our book over the past two summers.

{Ed025's Note - it beggars belief Swinners..

02 Sep 2026 17:51:05
We never ever learn ED do we, laughing stock of the Premier League.

It's a good job I haven't got a dog or it would still be getting kicked everywhere, still bloody fuming.

{Ed025's Note - the dog is not the one who needs a good Kicking Col, its our DOF mate..

02 Sep 2026 18:05:31
Absolutely.

02 Sep 2026 18:31:43
It feels like a throwback to Kenwright era when we tried to pull some clever negotiating trick in every deal, and it backfired every single time.

Embarrassing to try and tell a player he's not worth the agreed wages because we've supposedly discovered an issue. Makes us look like conmen.

02 Sep 2026 19:16:56
Hadn't heard that Ed. What an absolute bunch of muppets.

If they decided they were happy with the ankle issue, why mess about? We'd already renegotiated the payment with Monaco.

Kinnear and his recruitment puppets need to go. Get in someone who knows how to do the job properly

02 Sep 2026 16:47:39
Zinchenko also available on a free, decent left back, age just 29.

Agree5 Disagree0

02 Sep 2026 17:51:27
Yes please.

02 Sep 2026 18:05:21
"Decent left back"

Has anyone watched him before?

The man is absolutely rubbish.

He's got less pace and strength than Mykolenko, but because he had a few decent games linking up with Kevin De Bruyne, people think he's decent hahahaha.

02 Sep 2026 16:40:41
I hate the reference to "deadwood". They played to the best of their ability and we should thank them for their contribution and wish them well in their new clubs.

02 Sep 2026 16:14:30
One season contracts for
Benzema, 38yrs
Carvajal, 34yrs
Alaba, 34yrs

Simple ha ha - one striker and 2 fullbacks.

Psr / Burnley problems can be aggrieved by fans as possibly legitimate problems which we should be able to understand while still feeling totally hard done by. However shooting ourselves in both feet is totally unacceptable. What happened to the ‘war chest’ after the last window?

Or the 38 million paid invested in Burley which ‘wouldn’t affect this transfer window? Let’s scoff at Chelsea’s 10 million fine, shall we, and how much water has flowed under the bridge since City’s charges? Yes I’m bitter and for the club to make it worse really angers me. We were the millionaires club in my day - we are now the vagrants. The club have been severely embarrassed by all this and so have I. Today I feel sick with it. I was in America on tour following EFC last summer.

I went to Moyes meeting in New York. He was saying that over the next few windows we would build the team. He’s been severely let down as have we. It was also noticeable that in all the sports shops no Everton shirts were on sale. Despite there being a big following over there, sad to say that a number of other teams kit were available, the latest disaster won’t help.

No more bs, Angus and his boys must depart immediately and the owners must start supporting their team even by just turning up now and again, at the very least, or sell. But don’t play with the fans or their hard earned cash. Enough is enough! I’m also sick of hearing how other teams supporters ‘deserve success’.

02 Sep 2026 17:20:57
Said it before. Shirt sales are a myth, they don't make the club that much money, most of the money goes to the shirt manufacturer, the club only gets about 10% of that from a sale. Nike, Puma or whoever get most of the money, the club probably gets about a fiver per shirt.

02 Sep 2026 15:04:00
After yesterday's disaster I wish we had our mate Grumpytoffee on here to send a message to our Owners. He would know the exact words to say to them. Miss you like mad, mate.

Agree8 Disagree0

02 Sep 2026 16:05:58
Yes we all do and we miss Ed002 also. I did warn you that I did not believe anything until I saw the ink drying on the signed contract and Doris the tea lady pouring the new player a cuppa. Great being optimistic but "don't count your chickens before they hatch" comes to mind.

Balogun was at Finch Farm all day evidently, did Moyes and our captain Tarks talk to him, tell him what a wonderful club it is? They should have been there encouraging him to sign. If they were there they did a lousy job.

02 Sep 2026 17:05:07
He sure would, GB.

He would also probably say he wasn't surprised by this mess.

Hoping we sign a free agent to cover Barry and we have a recall option on Aznou in case we get scuppered at LB.

02 Sep 2026 19:02:38
Agree Mike, I mentioned this earlier, and still can't believe Moyes didn't spend some time with the lad. Unless, of course, he was too busy following Jack around.
