Delap to Forest for 50 mill. Good luck with that hes not worth half that.

Completely agree. I actually thought he could have been a good signing for us but never at that price!! How the hell Chelsea have made money on him is a mystery to me. Also can't believe Forest have stumped up that amount! Transfer fees really have gone crazy!

If we could get one of Doue/Baku or Munoz for Right Back, Bard for left back and Richy coming home that would be a brilliant window, Martinelli on his way to Saudi, so could see Arsenal coming in for Ndiaye, hopefully not, but if they do we need to spend on say a Yilmaz to compensate his departure.
I genuinely believe if we can get the above, I could see us challenging for top 6 never mind top 8/9/10.

If rumours are true, then why are we listening to offers for O'Brien. He played 7 games at centre half last season and we won 5, drew 2. Surely Moyes can't expect tarks to go on forever. Just seems a strange decision if true.
25 Aug 2026 19:04:57
Yep. If Forest are stupid enough to pay £45m for a player who only scored 2 goals in 41 appearances last season, then jog on!
We desperately need a striker, but that's going too far. Can't believe Chelsea managed to get a profit of £15m on a player who did nowt to earn that accolade.
Fair play to Chelsea, I guess, if someone is stupid enough to pay, then why not! But thankfully that wasn't us!
Just praying there is someone else in the market we can get. 🙏

Would take Richy myself.

Probably end up with some crap up front worse than what we have. If Delap is going for £50m, then God knows what we will get for £20m.

25 Aug 2026 21:52:37 Barry or Beto's kid brothers. 😱😂

Some of the comments about O'Brien just blow my mind. He is only 25. He has not been given much of an opportunity at his preferred position of center-half. He has all of their height and physical attributes needed for that position. He did a reasonable job as right-back, hardly let us down. He wants to play as a center-half which is a reasonable request. He is the sort of player that we should be keeping and nurturing not letting go.
So we should let him go providing we can get a replacement we are told. At this stage of the window we would probably get another Keane or Tarks type with no sell on value. Of course we always have Mykolenko as a back-up center-back. What a joke that is.
We need to keep O'Brien, at least for another season. It is not long since everyone was saying they wanted a combination of O'Brien and Branthwaite as center-backs.

{Ed025's Note - spot on for me Mike, and lets not forget that at his age it is up to the coaches to nurture and improve him but if hes just a stop gap full back improvement is less likely, i say keep hold of him and hone his skills to become the next centre back we need mate..

Everyone knows and no one would disagree that he should be playing with Jarrad. However, Tarks is now captain, which means Jake will play less than Keane. Keane will get game time because he can play on the left of defence, whereas Jake can't, or should I say doesn't look as accomplished.
Keane and Tarks are the ones that shouldn't be there.

I like O'Brien and hope he stays. But if he wants out rather than fight to be our starting cb, then let him go. Nobody is bigger than the club, and if he's unhappy, that will fester among others.

Tarks and Keane surely only have this season plus maybe one more so he shouldn't have long to wait plus any injuries in between.

Whatell, we don't know what he said. If he just said he would prefer to play center-back, who can blame him. We don't know for sure if he asked to leave.

25 Aug 2026 21:58:16 Personally, I feel it's all about wheeling and dealing, so if we get good money for Jake then great. I'd think 30-35 with add ons would be a deal worth doing, especially as there's multiple teams interested. If it's just 20-25 million, seems crazy for a guy we pair 17 for & have given PL experience unless we have a younger gem lined up! Thoughts, blue boys ???

DMS, you started a thread back in March about who you would rather have Richy or Delap. It’s in the discussion posts mate. Six months later and god knows how many strikers mentioned including these two and still nothing.
Yet people think we’re going to get five through the door in a week. Wow!

Window wasn't open in March.

25 Aug 2026 17:55:28
Oh so we only look at players when the window is open? That explains a lot.

25 Aug 2026 18:32:21
Can look at all the players you want too. Can't officially sign any until the window opens. Plus, we've already signed 4, which in Everton's history is pretty quick compared to previous windows.
Let's just wait and see how many we sign this week before getting amazed by others' opinions.

Hardly amazed it was a topic of conversation. Think you have totally missed the point here. The fact is, we should have these players identified long before the window opens. Get them in so they can have a full pre season and not last minute.
As for the four signings, two were loans from last season, one is a good prospect, and the other is injured. But let's just wait and see eh.

In an ideal world I'd totally agree with you. However, being realistic, Everton isn't the attraction to top players we think it is. So, if the club have identified that level of player to improve us going forward, it's not going to be done until late in the window. Take Doue for example.
If the Rags are to be believed, he's our top choice for RB. He's going to wait to see what options he has before accepting to join us.
If it's a choice of waiting until the deadline to sign the likes of Doue, or sign someone like that Celtic RB at the start of the window, I know which option I prefer.

To be honest most of what I post is because I am a stroppy person, half serious most of the time but never wish to cause offence. God I miss ED002. Delap or Richy hmmmm! Delap is no better than B&B and a prat with it.
Someone said in reply to my post on Richy being awful the other night, that maybe it is because he wants away! I loved the guy when he was with us and his sale helped us scrape PSR but honestly do we want a guy that is going to sulk and cost us £30 mill! I do wonder if the Club are going to pull out a Felliani!
25 Aug 2026 12:23:49
Beto on the move and Anzou going out on loan looks like that will happen.

Aznou defo needs a successful loan and then hopefully we can make a tidy profit on him. He's lively but inconsistent going forward and a terrible defender.

He is a WB FBS. They all laud him because of his 10 mins against Sunderland and the Pen. We were sat right next to that run and surprised it was given. Maybe a loan to the rough and tumble of the Championship will make or break him.

Don't know how you know all that based on the few minutes he's had here and there.

25 Aug 2026 20:46:52
There were rumours last season about sulking, if true, bit strange though. We do know he was brought in as one for the future, but to not get a look in, mistyfying.
25 Aug 2026 12:01:58
Wow, five to come in. Would be happy with that and a good few out. Good times ahead, bring it on.

25 Aug 2026 13:18:54
Depends on who comes in GB. I'm happy to see a quality RB, LB, and striker come in and hang onto Ndiaye. The other two can be youth/third choice backups.

25 Aug 2026 13:43:42
With you on that, mate, striker priority for me.

25 Aug 2026 14:31:01
Or it's just Moyes covering his arse if things go wrong and we don't get the players in.

25 Aug 2026 14:54:41
Time will tell, mate, must be several irons in the fire.

The only certainty is good times ahead, but it might be slower than most are demanding.

What I find frustrating is we said that when Moshiri took over FBS. That may be why fans are so frustrated; at the rate we are going, it's going to be another 30 years until we win anything. Is this the longest time in our history between silverware?

We might not ever win anything again. Most clubs don't. I get it, but we can't lump it in with the FM era. We were promised CL inside of 5 years, and if you were like me, you let every one of your football friends know in the most obnoxious way and acted like it was all a certainty. Ended up feeling embarrassed by the club 3 of those years, and then a hollow husk of a fan after that for 2 years. I'm just glad that we will certainly remain an EPL club with a stable, boring, steady mid table obscurity. So many fans have very short memories, and unfortunately this club let its hold as a giant slip away. Took too long to move stadium, should have been 50000 seater 30 years ago and been extended to 60 65000 by now, but the rose tinted old skool didnt take their chances cos they loved the old lady, disgraceful and hamstrung us. We let the big 5 turn into a 4. Let our, yes our, idea of a EPL be taken out of our hands and were rapidly allowed to be manoeuvred into the museum of football.
Still have a load of old fans who think all you need are a trinity of players and a few beers to make a top manager and be champion again. I doubt we will win the top flight for 100 years. Our only hope is the elusive League Cup. But look at the winners. The big 4 mostly still take it seriously enough that its a monopoly. And there is now 3 or 4 other clubs as well as the big 4 who are bigger than us. FM should be in jail. And our fans should forget the past. Like the big clubs from yesteryear and get used to being historic but not big. People are snobs about the lesser Euro cups but we should be aiming for one in the next decade. Not taking the city name has turned out to be a marketing own goal for 50 years. Hindsight is wonderful, but we really historically love to shoot our own feet off with a .50cal anti aircraft cannon.

The only positive I'm seeing at the moment is the new ground.
