Do any of the Eds think Nuno is still an option the powers that be may go for?

{Ed002's Note - Very much so.}

1.) 09 Jun 2021 15:48:17
Cheers Ed.

2.) 09 Jun 2021 20:14:09
I am getting the impression from the press and rumours that Nuno is wanting to pretty much take over whatever he club he gets the gig for. Staff, players, big transfer kitty, advisors, and so on. Doesn't feel like that is a fit for us.

{Ed0666's Note - Really and what have the managers that don’t have all the responsibly achieve for you mate? Maybe you need someone with full autonomy and someone whose fully invested and won’t dance under the pale moonlight when Real Madrid flutter their eyelids?

3.) 09 Jun 2021 20:39:10
I'm very much hoping Nuno gets the job did fantastic at Wolves and wasn't backed when they got into Europe I think he is just what we need.

4.) 09 Jun 2021 21:12:51
I'm not necessarily saying it's a bad thing. I've said in other posts I think Nuno is a decent choice.
Just not sure that is what we are looking for in Manager. And by we I mean the decision makers not the fans.

{Ed025's Note - if he brings pedro neto and jiminez with him he would be the right choice EFCONE..

5.) 09 Jun 2021 21:43:32
If he gets full responsibility, then I expect lots of dull signings, to miss out on a lot of good players and for Marcel Brands to walk or be sacked.

21 Mar 2021 18:32:13
Has anyone else heard Rumours Bramley Moor is a no go for now. I really hope not.

1.) 21 Mar 2021 19:13:43
Last I hear the government is looking to extend the 21day review period they have which was due to end on Wednesday.

Only hope that Joe Anderson arrest isn’t linked.

2.) 21 Mar 2021 20:07:37
Not sure it matters tbh. Not sure many people actually expected it to go ahead.

3.) 22 Mar 2021 14:23:13
It's normal procedure for projects of this size. How often does a government department make a decision in 21 days? Probably have not even opened the package yet.

4.) 22 Mar 2021 14:43:50
i would be VERY VERY surprised given the amount of money spent and the time taken to get to this point.

5.) 22 Mar 2021 19:33:20
Bobslad, there was a message floating around yesterday saying that JA and someone named Colin Chong were expected to be arrested at some point this week. Nice to know that you can get a heads up on being pre-arrested if you work for the council!
I'd take it with a pinch of salt tbh. There's been a lot of money spent already, the actual project will generate plenty of cash and jobs for the area so I think it will go ahead. Just my own opinion mind you, I haven't a clue how these things work. If we can prove that all the back handers went to mates of current Tory MP's then there is absolutely nothing to worry about at all mate.

6.) 22 Mar 2021 20:58:48
It could be to do with all the houses that were compulsory purchased around Anfield to allow them to build their new stand. How’s that for conspiracy theory. 😂.

7.) 23 Mar 2021 14:43:20
I don't know much about the rumours etc, but isn't Colin Chong the guy in charge of the stadium project? If he is involved in anything then we may well find the stadium is in trouble. I sincerely hope not, it would be a new low in our storied search for a new home - and there have been a lot already.

8.) 23 Mar 2021 19:31:54
JA had to report for renewal of bail conditions it's set prior to release, and do honestly see Everton risking their new stadium and millions/ billions over a bung to a dodgy minor politicians. Besides everyone likes a juicy bit of gossip and like to make it sound juicier, do you not think the news hounds at the echo would be all over this!

9.) 22 Mar 2021 17:25:50
It was liverpool fans doing what liverpool fans do and while telling the whole world they don't care about us start spreading rumours which people believe and Swan I'm not sure who you speak to but all the blues I talk to expect it to go ahead.

10.) 24 Mar 2021 19:22:26
It will go ahead, too many benefits for the City of Liverpool for it to be pulled at this stage. A delay is likely however.

11.) 25 Mar 2021 11:29:01
I have a feeling that he asked for more time so now they have took control of the city they will look like the good guys when they pass it saying this is what we want for the north.

14 Jan 2021 22:13:52
No new signings this month, just off loading players not wanted.

1.) 15 Jan 2021 08:52:19
I will believe that at the end of the window,

2.) 15 Jan 2021 09:07:42
Nothing unexpected to be honest. We don't really need anyone in the short term with players coming back from injury we have a big enough squad to see us through to the end of the season and still be reasonably competitive.

{Ed025's Note - i would like to see a playmaker or another forward brought in myself sa, but that i suppose would only happen if we get rid of some fringe players and so that would mean towards the end of the window mate..

3.) 15 Jan 2021 09:10:01
I can’t see it myself.
If they sell kenny we are left with Coleman - likely needing x2 RB in the summer.

If we sell Kean and Toson we are left with injured DCL and Simms

I think we need a RB and forward if we sell. Different if we were 10th - no way we should sell Toson unless we have someone to bring in (or cancel Kean’s loan which is never going to happen)

Sell - Kenny, Besic, Bollasi, Kean, Walcott
Magic if we could get Aaron’s in and loan him back til end of season to Norwich

Sell Toson if we can get a forward in (who is better than Toson - Josh King / Milik (Milik for me)

In summer sell Delph, Davies, Pickford Beni sigi

- address Richarlison if not putting effort in still (wonder if he has been injured last few games - he looks unhappy though) - saint Maximim from NUFC could be an option as well ascGordin coming through

Aarons Kean Mina Digne

James Allan Decore Saint maximum

? (Or James here and would need a RW)

Milik / King.

4.) 15 Jan 2021 09:18:26
I am obviously hoping it's not true as i think another forward is a must but think the summer might be our best bet.

5.) 15 Jan 2021 09:20:22
I think we may still do business.
Depends on who we can get rid of, and who’s available. If the right player was available, I’m confident that Brands/ Moshiri would move on it.

6.) 15 Jan 2021 09:56:28
We’re reportedly close to signing young Bayern striker Joshua Zirkzee on loan with a view to a perm. If true it looks like a fantastic deal by Brands.

7.) 15 Jan 2021 10:37:49
I would also love to see a couple come in just can't see it happening with the squad we have at the moment. Even if we sell Bernard, Kenny and Tosun if everyone stays fit we do have enough short term. So I can see why there may be a reluctance bring in additional players this window.

8.) 15 Jan 2021 12:55:35
Your missing godfrey he isn't even on ya bench he has been are stand out 👍🏻.

9.) 15 Jan 2021 13:19:44
Yeah that’s a mistake - Godfrey Kean hollgate Mina
I’m happy with any of them being in the middle.

10.) 15 Jan 2021 22:10:29
Just throwing it out there, do we need a right back? I was thinking Aaron's would be a great addition however, branthwaite just gone on loan to Blackburn (looks a quality future CB) leaves us with mina and keane who are both playing well and holgate and godfrey, however am I right that godfrey can play RB? (Could be totally wrong as I know he has covered for digne) digne is our 1st choice lb but the young Frenchman seems like a quality understudy. Holgate can play rb? Maybe Ancelotti wants to adapt him to play there?
Now thinking rb isn't actually a priority (again forgive me I could be totally wrong lol)
I'm not an advocate of pickford but he's been ok of late, Olson good understudy.
Still think we are missing a midfielder with some quality to unlock a defence and obviously a striker or forward that can play across a front 3.
Dont think sigurdsson or davies are reliable enough. Iwobi having a stormer means i think the following will go (eventually! )
-Kean to psg
-Bernard not cut it and iwobi keeps him out

I don't rate davies or sigurdsson but I think those above will go way before sigs and davies. I think Ancelotti is getting a tune out of sigurdsson and using him quite well. I think the reality is he's going nowhere as he can be utilised within the squad and we will never recoup anything like the 40 odd mill we paid for him!

11 Aug 2020 12:36:18
Eds, do you think we would possibly go for the likes of Lundstrum from Sheffield. Young hard-working midfielder and played better than most of our lot last season.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean by "the likes of" - do you mean ex-Everton players?}

1.) 11 Aug 2020 14:44:39
Sorry, should just have put his name and not likes of. I was wondering if he would be of interest to Carlo/ Brands with his work rate and already played in PL.

{Ed002's Note - That I don't know, but: John Lundstram (CM) Newcastle, Brighton and West Ham are interested at the right price.}

2.) 11 Aug 2020 23:15:58
I would take his meaning to be a young hard working midfield in his type that has been relegated and wants to stay in the prem and more pointing to are we interested in him rather then a flippant come back.

08 Aug 2019 10:33:35
A few reports saying we will move for Steven Bergwijn if Zaha does not materialise.

08 Jun 2021 15:30:48
It looks like Potter and I reckon Brands has had a massive say in it.

1.) 08 Jun 2021 15:54:48
I can live with that Bob, Brighton played some lovely stuff last season.

2.) 08 Jun 2021 16:02:07
ED02 said he doesn't think Potter will be interested and sky bet have suspended bets on Eddie Howe if he gets it then we have to accept we are a mid table team and nothing more.

3.) 08 Jun 2021 16:15:32
Where does it say its Potter.

4.) 08 Jun 2021 16:37:21
Possible that Potter wouldn’t be. If he’s not, move on.
I’m sorry, I don’t buy into the certainty that we’ll do poorly with any manager. 2/ 3 years ago people wanted Howe as England manager. He did a great job at Bournemouth and then hit a wall. No reason why he can’t be successful.

5.) 08 Jun 2021 16:52:39
Hit a wall because he signs some awful players and has no clue how to defend.

6.) 08 Jun 2021 17:15:06
Rather havr Harry Potter.

7.) 08 Jun 2021 17:31:40
Potter or howe? What a choice we are being left with ( if the papers are correct) both men will be 2 bad games away from the sack and will feel the full force of the fans toxicity if those bad games take place. 1 got sacked from the easiest job in football and 1 skirts with relegation every season. How on earth are they even considered for a job like everton? Even nuno took the easy path to a club with little to no ambition. This job requires nerves of steel and a belief that they can build success or at least lay the foundations to something great. In sorry but neither inspires me to suggest anything more than an early sacking. Potter is Mike walker pt2.

8.) 08 Jun 2021 17:40:28
Swan - Brighton conceded less goals than us last season and even had a better goal difference.

9.) 08 Jun 2021 18:01:27
Bit like some of our players Swan mate.

10.) 08 Jun 2021 18:25:55
Ridiculous statement. Potter operates on a lesser budget and one of his players is in the England squad. His right back and midfielder are hot property. Some managers need an opportunity. We are a mid table team with top 6/ 4 aspirations. Some people need a reality check.

11.) 08 Jun 2021 19:05:34
So who is Potter going to attract to Everton? I've heard this about ferguson but yet people haven't mentioned this about Potter. Carlo ancelotti to the Brighton manager! Either appoint from within or go for someone who has won something. gaultier is available.

12.) 08 Jun 2021 19:30:14
Apparently Potter has a very good scouting network. Dunc has John Ebrell😂.

13.) 08 Jun 2021 21:19:02
He finished 15th then 16th but hey he's got a good team around him. He'll be at goodison for 10/ 11 games and then we'll be sweating over how many 1-0 defeats were getting but playing nice football. No thanks. I think I've seen that too many times at everton already. he's Mike walker all over again.

07 Jun 2021 10:04:14
I have come to the realisation that I have NO PATIENCE whatsoever and am constantly checking everywhere to see if we have appointed someone.

1.) 07 Jun 2021 11:09:29
Refreshing that reliable source twitter every few minutes here 😂😂😂.

2.) 07 Jun 2021 12:02:46
I'm on NewsNow, the Echo pages and Sky Sports Transfer Centre but the silence is deafening and frankly worrying to me

There doesn't seem to be a massive effort to get someone in

OK. Get it right BUT GET IT DONE!

3.) 07 Jun 2021 12:38:19
Better to rush and get it wrong?

4.) 07 Jun 2021 13:26:09
JBT - I said get it right

I don't think Everton do a good job of informing its supporters and the public on what they are doing or giving the impression that they are acting with any urgency. Everything we hear is all done via rumours by newspapers just wanting to gain readership. We were supposed to be talking to Nunes on Saturday what happened and what's next. What's happening with anyone else? It's not as if we have months to sort this out. As soon as the manager is appointed we need to get going strengthening the squad and we will go through the same old rigmarole - we've agreed the purchase of? but it will take us weeks to finalise the paperwork.

I think the Press office at Everton needs to look at itself and improve its information to us. I think they do a bad job - my opinion - agree or disagree is your choice.

{Ed002's Note - The club are not going to offer updates on discussions and negotiations. When something is completed it will be released.}

5.) 07 Jun 2021 13:41:59
I understand what you are saying Ed and maybe a lot of it is just a fans frustration but I honestly think Everton are not as good as other clubs in keeping their fans informed and I also believe confirmation of signings take a lot longer than other clubs. I can't remember the last time we signed somebody and the paperwork was completed within 24 hours but, at my age, selective memory might be raising its ugly head.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs in England do not set out to share ongoing discussions and it takes Everton no longer to sign players than other sides.}

6.) 07 Jun 2021 15:32:53
Sorry BW, I’m with Ed2 on this occasion.
It only feels we drag it out because you are invested in the outcome. It’s close season, there’s no rush, I’d rather feel that the board are discussing/ expiring every option fully do they can make an informed decision.

7.) 07 Jun 2021 16:45:19
I agree with Ed2. Other teams are looking for managers and Everton want to bring in who they think is best for the job. They picked up Ancelotti last time so who knows this time. Being quiet isn’t a bad option.

8.) 07 Jun 2021 19:23:32
I don't think there is any rush. The euros and copa America will slow most transfers, not to mention we have no money until we sell a kean or someone else.
Most of the names in the press are just rumours and any manager coming in will most likely not be the one who's favourite with Sky.

05 Jun 2021 18:51:01
Buendia going to Villa for £30 million rising to £40 million. He cost £1 million 2 years ago.
Just proves it doesn't always have to be big names to make a good squad.

1.) 05 Jun 2021 20:16:02
What a super player he is.

2.) 05 Jun 2021 23:14:35
To be fair the only big name we have signed is Rodriguez, sigurdsson may well be a big signing but he’s hardly big all over the world, we just over paid. People saying stop signing big name players well we haven’t.

23 May 2021 22:18:52
Marco Silva's last selection before he was gone,

Not much different today and still as poor, Carlo must see we are crying out for pace and more importantly Leaders.

1.) 23 May 2021 22:47:59
Exactly, bobslad. It's practically the same players that have seen off a few managers, time for the majority to be replaced!

01 Mar 2021 22:14:47

The one thing i would give Potter is that they actually had a style of Football, we had none and usually looked like a team of strangers.
