POTENTIAL EPL SIGNINGS FOR LEEDS UNITED

I honestly can't see 777 officially owning our club. If it was going to happen then I think it would've already.

Our debt wouldn't put off an oil rich country and the positives far outweigh the negatives. Premier league membership, new stadium and best fans will surely make us an attractive proposition.

Get Tim Cahill as the public face of the take over and I think we'd all be happy blues this summer.

It will end up being a 777 and MSP board by the end of May, it's the only option currently as there are no other options on the table.

Was listening to a podcast on the Blue Room today where they were discussing at length about our financial issues. Well worth a listen.
Anyway a question was asked about when Moshiri decided to pull the money and they felt it was around Ancelotti's time.
It got me thinking about the managers/ coaches we've had and who caused this issue. I know money is/ was a problem and we don't know the half of what was going on but it was the employment of Benitez when I felt it all started to crumble. He got rid of half our decent players, a lot of the backroom staff and our Director of football left. For me he is the major cause of the on field issues. What's everyone else's thoughts?

I think it was Koeman when it all started to go down hill. The biggest mistake was selling Lukaku and not replacing him. All I can really remember of his signings was £50m for siggurdson £25m klassen and rooney. Not sure if he bought bolassie schnederlin keane Ramirez as well.
Regarding Benitez I think his hands were tied financially and he had to get rid of all the players otherwise we wouldve been in more crap and only signings I remember were mykelenko and Patterson after digne was sold. I think he was given a situation like sean dyche regarding finances just that we didn't know about it or want to believe it and us fans knew even less about FFP back then compared to the nothing we understand about it know.
Just my opinion going off what I remember which I'm sure I've forgotten some other key facts.

We massively overspent on fees and wages from the time Koeman arrived, a scatter gun approach on whoever was available which created an unbalanced squad. Under Ancellotti, players like Rodriguez and Allan crippled our wage bill. We’ve never recovered. The opportunity was there to build a squad that could compete at the top end of the stadium, you’d have to say that recruitment has been woeful.

Started to go wrong once the banners came out, get rid of Martinez. Basically (and we are all guilty of this) , dollar signs were seen and impatience was the theme. It took about 3/ 4 years for City to get going and their vault was never ending.

I totally agree with that DFS. Martinez was ok for me. Just needed defensive help.

When F/M Bought into Everton, we were told he was a billionaire. So now he has decided to get out, why the need to borrow 200m from 777, surely he is able to return their money, and get it back from a new buyer (which we're told they're are forming a queue).

Unless he never had the cash in the first place, and was just a fount for his Russian friend, bloody inconsiderate of Putin to go and start a war just when we were getting back on our feet.

Agree1 0Disagree

01 May 2024 17:39:05
Just because he’s a billionaire doesn’t necessarily mean he has lots of cash - he could be a billionaire due to assets he has.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect it was Usmanov money all along Dan..

Spot on Ed. And aren't 777 billionaire's in assets aswell All I can see off the pitch is more DOOM AND GLOOM. But I do hope I'm wrong. COYB'S.

{Ed025's Note - its always something with us RON, we beat the cheats who stole our points, then against all odds we staved off relegation with a thread bare squad, then the worry of if the ground would be finished...now its possible administration!, is there any more crap they can fling at us mate?...its a good job we are EVERTON, COYB, UTFT..

It is no secret to any of us that we have to sell our assets this summer, most likely, Onana and Jared. But we also have a Mr Jordan Pickford on the books.

Through all his own doing, he has built a reputation over the years for being a bit of a loose cannon with his decision making and having a howler in him. However, I think these are characteristics of his past and in the last 2-3 seasons now, I can't think of many mistakes that he has made. His level of consistency has gone up and so has his maturity. He has almost single-handily kept this club in the PL more than once.

The lad is sitting 2 clean sheets off the golden glove and is comfortably England's no.1, where he has barely put a foot wrong in the major tournaments. He has just shy of 300 PL appearances to his name and 60 for his country.

Taking the above into account and the fact we paid £25 million for him back in 2017, I think it takes the absolute proverbial that he is priced constantly at around 30m.

Arsenal paid £24 million for Ramsdale, after back to back relegations a few years back. Onana cost United over £40 million. Granted the lad played in a Champions League final but Pickford has played in just as big a game in the Euro's/ World Cup and has clearly out-performed him in the league this season.

If we are 'forced' to let Jordan go this summer, we should be asking for top dollar and nothing less. It is time we start acting in the same way that other clubs do when teams start coming for their players.

The var discussions, OK the first 1 I don't think is, the handball is one that could be given, depending on opinions, but the 3rd. 😂. OK I know it worked in our favour but wtf are they seeing that most fans can't! We dodged a bullet but, I'd rather these things be correct. If only so we don't receive a dodgy decision!

Many have gone against us and many others have suffered the same fate. VAR has strayed from its' original intention. The Premier League and its' 'improvements' has also deteriorated the product.

Dont worry GB we will be loosing 8 out of contract players and probably Onana who we will need to sell be left with:

GK- Pickford Vaginia
Def Patterson Godfrey Keane Tarky Branthwiate Myko
Mid Garner McNiel Doucoure Onyango
For- DCL Beto Chimiti Dobbiin

With Vaginia Keane Godfrey Doucoure Onyango Dobbin DCL contracts expiring in 2025 so we may well sell some early.

Any truth in the report this morning I've read that 777 have been given a deadline of the end April by Everton.

Apparently a new bidder is ready and waiting! I'm assuming now we are safe things can start to move one way or another.

Secure spot in the Prem for next year, state of the art stadium on the horizon, some of the best training facilities in the country. Yes, we need to continue to address the wage bill and reset our approach to spending over the next couple of years, but you’d still think that this is an attractive proposition for investors.

We’d have lost a lot more than 200 million languishing in the Championship for however long it would take us to get back up.

Looks like the possible sale of Braithwaite is the most likely way of balancing the books.
ManUtd are sniffing around so what would be the sensible price?
I have a horrible feeling that we will see Maguire in Royal Blue next season as part of a player plus cash deal.

Agree1 0Disagree

29 Apr 2024 08:13:57
I don't see Maguire taking a big enough pay cut to sign for us and I wouldn't want him anyway

Branthwaite - I wouldn't take less than 75m and would hope an auction takes it higher.

Agree0 0Disagree

29 Apr 2024 08:15:12
Whatever they very rarely pay the full amount up front anyway, so would hope the club try to keep him. Onana would be my first preference to sell, lads hardly played anyway.

29 Apr 2024 09:02:24
I can also confirm utd have been making enquiries for branthwaite, hopefully don't end up with any of utds deadwood and don't end up getting are trolleys pulled down on price.

29 Apr 2024 10:10:35
The club have the 4th best goals against in the Premiership this season. Credit to Pickford, Tarkowski, Branthwaite and a mix of fullbacks. I feel it’s best to continue that into next season if possible. I know finances will take priority but the club should try and hang on to Branthwaite for as long as possible, but if he has to go then demand maximum money they can get. Any replacement for him will probably less quality.

It looks like a new RB may be required as Patterson doesn’t seem to fit the managers needs

Any money they have to spend on players needs to go in midfield and attack. Onana has offered nothing in my eyes and Doucoure is questionable as some of his efforts on goal this season have been shocking to say the least.

Wonder if they can find a new Kendall, Ball and Harvey trio types of player somewhere that would solve a lot of issues.

I sit on the fence regarding Dyche continuing to move the club forward and new owners may have their own ideas as to who they want. Some posters have offered suggestions like Led Carsley, who would be a good shout. Although lacking club management experience he will have a good knowledge of all good young players coming up.

Would anyone consider Moyes coming in to replace Thelwall, as Thelwall has questions about his recruitment so far.

Agree0 0Disagree

29 Apr 2024 11:39:59
It’s not all Dyche fault he’s inherited most of that team, plus the points deduction on top and mismanagement of the club from above him.

If we take anything less than £75 million for Jared, to me it just shows that we are still operating in the same old way and nothing has changed.

All this talk of us having to accept a lesser offer because of our predicament is bull. It doesn't and shouldn't change the value of the player that is on the market. If a team wants him, then they should pay what we value him at, especially a team as diabolical as United, who clearly NEED a lad of his talent and scope. The lad is 21 years of age and is already one of the best CB's in the toughest league in the world. It is unlikely that he plays at the Euro's because Southgate is a melt but if he does, his value will only increase or knowing our luck he will get injured and be out for a season haha!

Before anyone comes back with an argument that we are dreaming to ask for such an amount for Jared. Wesley Fofana was sold by Leicester to Chelsea for £75 million in 2022. Fofana had played 20 games in the French league with St Etienne and then 1 full-is season in the PL with Leicester. He broke his leg after that and played a handful of games for them before playing for Chelsea and getting a season-long injury again, having scored 1 goal in his 40+ Prem appearances. He has won the FA Cup with Leicester.

In comparison Jared has gained experience in 4 different leagues already, some in the physically demanding lower leagues of English football. He is 6ft 5 and left-footed, which already makes him a rare commodity in the game. He has scored 4 PL goals in 40+ appearances, won the Dutch Cup with PSV and the European Cup with England U21's.

It is evident which of the two is better PL defender based on the eye-test alone. In todays market with the likes of Caceido, Fernandez, Fofana, Antony, Gvardiol, Maguire, Nunez, Sancho, Cucurella and many more going for stupid fees. 75 m for big Jazza is a steal. That is the absolute minimum that we should take but I would be asking for a lot more to test the mettle of the sides who claim to want him.

29 Apr 2024 13:47:46
Braithwaite needs to stay at everton if he goes to say man utd with an 80 million price tag their toxic fans will ruin his career same as sancho there's no better place for Jared.
