Been having a look at a few younger centre backs who could realistically come into the first team for us. I'm talking lads who are actually gettable.
Zach Abbott (Nottingham Forest) – Only 19 but he already looks like he's got the temperament for senior football. Strong in the tackle, doesn't panic, and he's handled big games better than some of Forest's senior defenders. Still raw, but there's a proper player there. Wouldn't cost silly money either.
Robert Renan (Zenit) – Left footed, calm on the ball, and looks like he's been playing senior football for years. Reads the game well, steps out confidently, and his passing is miles better than what we've had at the back. Zenit won't ask for Premier League prices, so he's one we could actually afford.
Tobias Slotsager (Hellas Verona) – Big lad, wins his duels, and looks like he'd handle the physical side of the Premier League without blinking. Not the finished article, but he's got the frame and mentality. Verona won't stand in his way if a decent offer comes in. Could be a proper value signing.
Zeno Debast (Sporting) – Probably the most polished of the lot. Belgian international, comfortable playing out, and he's already used to pressure games. Although he'd cost a bit more than the others but He's got that calmness we've been missing at centre‑back for years.
Just thought I'd throw these out there because we keep talking about wanting younger players with resale value who could step into our first team right away, and these four tick them boxes without being fantasy signings.
Ed, what do you reckon about these? And BlueNose, interested to hear your thoughts too.
{Ed025's Note - i have not heard of them to be honest OS as i dont really follow European football mate..but i will take your word for it mate..

Good info there, mate, thanks for that.
02 Jul 2026 16:06:02
Are you retired, OptimumShots? If so, please call Everton owners, they could do with someone like you in their recruitment team.
02 Jul 2026 16:22:06
Amongst others: Tobias Slotsager is a 20-year-old Danish centre-back playing for Hellas Verona in the Italian Serie A. Known for his towering 190 cm frame, right foot, and strong aerial duels, he is contracted with Verona until June 2028.

Prefer it to the one that was posted with lines on.
Not sure about the yellow strips, but pleased Stake isn't plastered across the front anymore.
Problem is, it'll cost a small fortune to buy.
02 Jul 2026 09:19:49
I like it.
02 Jul 2026 20:06:12
I like the yellow! Chinese knock offs will sell it in days for under £20. And tbh I can't tell difference between England one I bought from China and £135 one.
{Ed025's Note - i wouldn,t wear anything else PHH...cheap as chips mate..
03 Jul 2026 11:45:39
I like the kit, but don't like the sponsor. It looks a bit Championship to me.
Same on the Chinese knock off ones. I'm not paying what they ask nowadays.
01 Jul 2026 22:03:39
Just posted a link to the supposed new home kit. If it's genuine, it looks cheap and nasty. Won't be selling too many of those.

02 Jul 2026 15:16:50
Castore have definitely more than a stench of super cheap, low quality about all their kits I've ever seen. Shame, we can't get a deal with a Nike or Adidas, but then they only want to make kits for clubs with huge fanbases over multiple regions.
Definitely need a new batch of 80s 'Glory supporters', but we have a way to go before we win something again. And, this kit ain't winning any awards either.
01 Jul 2026 20:09:47
So Hull avoid a points deduction by selling 2 players by Tuesday and beat the cut off date on Wednesday. That should please the coveted so called top six. PSR is fundamentally wrong.

29, 30, 31, 32, all too old for a striker. Tell that to Harry. What a load of cobblers. Would sign him tomorrow.

Sadly, we are in the market for the likes of Wilson and G Jesus..
Hardly in the same class GB.
I'd take Messi and Ronaldo on massively reduced wages just to see if Davey plays them, as they won't defend.
02 Jul 2026 16:08:47
You really don't get it, do you, GB. These players are world class, and we are not buying world class players. We would be buying once were players. I mean, do you really want us to still buy Stones after how he performed for England, or is it the fact he's played for England so he must still be great.
02 Jul 2026 20:46:03
Stones of today is not the one GB is lauding. We are going to be lumbered with high wages and very few appearances. I don't believe our recruiting team are serious.
01 Jul 2026 19:21:21
Can someone explain to me how Spurs are able to shell out £300 million on new players and be within PSR. Is it one of 'big five' rules?

01 Jul 2026 19:46:40
Was thinking the same thing. £285 million on two players. World's gone mad, mate.
01 Jul 2026 20:25:30
They are supposedly generating a shed load from the new stadium, but it shows the whole system is wrong if you can finish above relegation twice and still be able to pay silly amounts like this (and they won't have finished yet) .
01 Jul 2026 20:28:29
£285 on two!? Did they sign Mbappe and 25 year old Messi.
01 Jul 2026 21:36:22
£185 million on Fernandes and £100 million on Tonali.
01 Jul 2026 22:00:16
185 on those two, GB, but also signed Van Hecke.
02 Jul 2026 11:17:48
GB, it's £85m for Fernandes, dude.
02 Jul 2026 12:55:12
PSR doesn't exist any more. Squad Cost Ratio and
Systemic Resilience (SSR) , which will replace Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) from the 2026/27 season.
02 Jul 2026 16:09:32
They have exceptional accountants.
02 Jul 2026 20:48:15
PSR is no more, and Spurs are taking advantage. Selling clubs are catching on post PSR. A few more shekels are going to be added to mediocre.
01 Jul 2026 18:51:33
Can we please sign Harry Kane only 32, get him for a few quid. ??

Really hope we sign a new keeper, I think Pickford might have a dip this season, judging by his WC so far.

01 Jul 2026 18:08:03
Pickford gets a lot of unnecessary flack, but I do think we should be looking to start replacing him towards the end of next season. It's easy to blame goalkeepers.
01 Jul 2026 18:18:56
I think he's a good stopper, but he gives me anxiety.
01 Jul 2026 19:03:21
Think he's good, totally outweighs the bad, best keeper for us and he's Everton through and through.
01 Jul 2026 19:07:27
That was down to our midfield geniuses and defence. DR Congo just ran through us. Thank goodness for Kane.
01 Jul 2026 19:19:29
Pickford is not to blame for England being crap. Drivel.
01 Jul 2026 21:10:34
That lad was running his own save of the month competition last season, and now he's deemed not good enough. Blows my mind. Remember, for every mistake he makes, he makes 4 or 5 game changing saves.
01 Jul 2026 22:50:23
Jordan still makes the odd mistake, but we would be playing championship football without him.
He stayed loyal when he could've gone to a big 6 team & is our best keeper since Big Nev.
UTFT NSNO. ? ? ?
02 Jul 2026 07:41:51
Which keeper doesn't make mistakes, the Liverpool keeper is supposed to be the best in the world, he's always making mistakes but he's Brazilian, so nobody questions him, yet Pickford gets slated for every one he makes, 10 world class saves and 1 mistake and he's past it, crazy.
02 Jul 2026 11:20:18
Replace Pickford? Utter nonsense, ha ha ha ha, with whom? And he is one of our best players. And the post has 3 likes??
02 Jul 2026 11:52:31
Madness, BB. Pickford has matured into a top class keeper and has been very good for us over the last few seasons. Why would we look to replace him by the end of this season?
Every keeper makes the odd mistake. They are human after all, but his contribution over the last few years totally outweighs any ricket he has made during his EFC career.
Without him, we would be extremely fortunate to still be in this league.
So, to those wanting him replaced at the end of this season, who the hell would you sign to oust him from our No 1 shirt?
02 Jul 2026 15:35:27
The keeper at City is supposedly the best in the league, but seen many goals down to his mistakes.
Plus, last night's hero HK misted a sitter in the previous 0-0 game, not a word said.
01 Jul 2026 17:24:43
This England team is like watching us. ?
