Tammy Abraham’s has fallen out of favour at Roma. He’s got experience in the prem. Would it be crazy if we attempted some sort of deal given B&B are giving us very little?
I know I’m scraping the barrel but it’s a difficult market in Jan and I’m struggling to think of where we won’t get ripped off.
I think a RB might be the only real recruitment this window. Aznou has shown he deserves more time on the pitch playing LB (if not for 10mins to start with at the end of games) .

11 Jan 2026 21:49:06
I know his injury record is poor but Callum Wilson would be a good stop gap til the summer. He can certainly finish but I'm just sceptical about his injuries.
{Ed025's Note - Harold Wilson would be better than the 2 clowns we have Dentie..

11 Jan 2026 22:01:54
Send Beto to Roma and take Tammy Abraham on loan for 6 months, see how he gets on.
{Ed025's Note - send Beto to jail for impersonating a footballer..
11 Jan 2026 16:27:07
Watched Dundee today they have two good young players in Luke Graham a central defender and Cameron Congreve a right winger.
Graham very composed and reads the game well. Reminds me of Branthwaite.
Congreve tricky winger who is always looking to take his man on and a good crosser of the ball. He’s on loan from Swansea I think. Both 21.

I watched some of that game BMD and that winger caught my eye straight away he's some player.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 17:14:01
Good player. We need a RW. RM v Barcelona at 1900 that will be a good game, wonder if that lad Rashford fancies a change 😇.
{Ed025's Note - I Would not want him anywhere near my club DMS..
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 17:17:31
I watched part of the game like the look of Graham would be surprised if they could hold on to him. The winger was a quicker version of Grealish, don't think I saw him make one back pass.
my question is we are seeing players like this on the telly. So what are our scouts doing do they only scout abroad? because there are some very good young players here.
{Ed025's Note - i ask myself that all the time Brass..
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 17:37:13
Rashford big NO thankyou far too much baggage.
{Ed025's Note - absolutely GB..i have seen some players with a chip on their shoulder...but he has got a full portion and a fishcake mate.. :)
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 18:15:06
Exactly BB, you would like to think our "scouting team" have been flat out in Nov and Dec doing their stuff and getting ready to tie up potential signings/loans in Jan.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 21:41:21
Haven't seen any evidence that we actually have any scouts. Everything seems to be on the recommendations of some mystery agents or maybe just watching the TV.!
{Ed025's Note - probably You Tube or Tic-Tok influencer,s Mike..
11 Jan 2026 13:53:28
Seeing all these rumours is great, but does anyone else have that horrible feeling we will end up with nobody?
I think Moyes saying its highly unlikely is very telling, despite what the media latch on to.

11 Jan 2026 14:03:27
I think we will do well in this window mate.

11 Jan 2026 14:15:55
Clubs round a bout our league position in this league, championship and abroad are not going to transfer players they need or if they do it will be at overinflated prices. Should we return to the Moshiri way of doing things? We are not going to be relegated (I believe top 10) . It is not a horrible feeling.
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 14:16:44
A very difficult window to do well in. I just hope that we spend whatever money we have wisely and on a center-forward who can score goals. When the ACON guys and the injured are back we have the other positions covered. I know we still need a right-back but unless a brilliant one is available and we don't spend all our funds on him then wait until the summer for that one.
Also throw that shirt in the dustbin with the person
that made the decision to wear it.
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 15:01:52
Patterson played well yesterday. The mistake for the goal came from O'Brien (the other RB option) .
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 16:22:19
Nothing’s changed for me. We know we need to improve in several areas, we have a handful of very good players, but we need more to progress. January is tough - if the right player comes along then we might do something. No sense in throwing more money away on average players though.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 16:51:42
Going to be difficult to do much business in the current window in my view without being ripped off.
A lot of clubs after a decent CF currently, think our best chance is to get a decent one on loan.
Need to go all out for a RB at a sensible price, keeping Garner and O'brien to play their normal roles, unless Moyes is tempted to continue with Patterson after his recent performances.
11 Jan 2026 10:06:09
I call on everyone to boycott buying that shirt and send a message to the owners that we play in royal blue at home, I think I was a shocking decision and I hope this isn't the way our new owners are going to act, we don't need 4 kits, it's a total rip off trying to rinse your own fans, DON'T BUY IT.

If people want to buy Club merchandise they will.
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 16:22:59
It’s not uncommon, most clubs do it and we’re trying to keep up. No one is being forced to buy a kit.
Agree2
11 Jan 2026 17:07:01
Yes but you should play in your home kit at home, just because other sheep do something doesn't mean you have to follow, if you want to sell something advertise on the billboard's there are plenty of them but don't change your home kit, most of the money on a shirt sale doesn't go to the club.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 18:59:37
exactly, jb. Nothing new, it's been done before and it's personal choice as to whether you buy it or not. I want our new owners to optimise all revenue streams, we need to if we want to be competitive. As long as we have a choice whether to buy these club related things then all is good.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 20:18:55
It must be my age but I'm staggered you think it ok not to wear your home colours playing at home, but that's just me and respect your views, , the club have come out and said it was a one off to selebrate the new stadium.
Why didn't they just wear it on the next away game? Who are the other clubs that have done it?
11 Jan 2026 09:04:21
Sell Beto in the January window and buy Jorgen Strand Larsen, this will make everyone happy.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 11:23:45
It would certainly be an upgrade Uran, but that wouldn’t be difficult. I was hoping we might see Graham for the second half of extra time.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 11:40:49
Yeah right mate.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 12:52:06
Once we've sold Beto, how are we going to scrape together the other £39.5m of his £40m price tag?
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 14:24:18
Proven Premier league quality comes at a high price, sell Beto and Barry hopefully get 30m them, add another 20m to buy JSL, then involve our youth strikers on the bench.
{Ed025's Note - 30p and we would be ripping buyers off Uran..
11 Jan 2026 08:21:17
Best post below I have read and sums up me, my son and many others experience around us I suspect:
Watching on TV may be different to seeing it live.
I was convinced that McNeil had been substituted in the second half until I heard his name mentioned.
Having seen him in the rout at Bradford, I have been saying that there is a footballer in Aznou. I'm not convinced he's a full-back, but he offered more in 35 minutes as a winger than Dibling and McNeil have combined all season.
I was pleased to see Patterson again play well. For a little used player, cramp after nearly 2 hours is not a disgrace.
I can not understand criticism of the manager for this one. He played the only team available to him, with the exception of Beto for Barry.
He used the substitutes as he had to. And the 3 powder-puff penalties were not his fault.
Personally, I think any penalty that is not capable of making the net bulge shouldn't happen. Hard and fast and if the keeper guesses right good luck to him.
As has been said, we will get players back in the next few weeks. we may still need to improve at full-back, but today showed that maybe we do not need to panic buy.
If a half-decent striker is available, we definitely need an upgrade on Beto. But I am happy to play what we have and re-assess in June.
But whatever it takes, get the Garner contract signed!
Agree2
11 Jan 2026 12:58:18
Agree with almost everything you've said, except the bit about Moyes, mate. The issue isn't that his squad is depleted, it's how he uses them. Setting up in the same predictable way every week, even though it's clear our opponents are expecting it and have adapted, and we've not even bothered watching a second of how they play - and then, when it's clearly not working, waiting until way too late to try and change things.
Obviously we're missing key players, but the fact that we can't seem to have more than 30% possession in a game without them shows that the success we had this season was purely down to their individual contributions and nothing to do with Moyes.
Yesterday's starting 11 wasn't ideal, but it genuinely wasn't actually that bad, but playing 7 (SEVEN) passes in the opening 10 minutes and our only gameplan seemingly being: Wait for opponent to give ball away > Pass to fullback > hoof down line to striker who can't win it > repeat - is 100% on DM's shoulders.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 16:48:55
So, when the team plays crap it's down to Moyes. When they play well, it's in spite of him?
You said it yourself, we have a lot of players missing through international games, injuries and suspensions. Our 1st eleven is decent, when they are unavailable, it just shows how thin and inadequate those in reserve are.
11 Jan 2026 01:01:02
Alright lads, well another shocker today. Worrying that two of our better players in Armstrong and Aznou only got a look in because Moyes had no other option. Yes we need players but unless we can bring in quality then what would be the point? To think we brought in Beto and Barry and gave away Simms who in my opinion is better than both of them, just doesn’t make sense.
Still seasons over now unless that is this lot carry on with a losing streak, and we nosedive down the league. UTFT!

11 Jan 2026 12:55:51
No way mate we are only 3 or 4 points below 6th place, will have all our main hitters back shortly plus new recruits in this window plenty to look forward to cheer up buddy.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 14:12:05
What new recruits?
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 14:45:31
Jeez! We were never going to qualify for Europe, that is media and Moyes throw away line. The season is not over far from it. Two teams a couple of points apart played yesterday and it showed. Mistakes were made, as happens, in the end it came down to two morons taking the piss. No matter what Moyes said in front of the camera, it would have been different in the changing room.
We will finish top 10. Forced by circumstance not withstanding, Moyes gave the opportunity to a couple of young lads who impressed. No matter what us 'experts' believe/think the coaches and Manager would have noticed also. We are not a bad side.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 15:58:38
You don’t have to be an “expert” as you put it to see that we are one of the most boring teams to watch in the league. Our one tactic is predictable, and we allow teams to dictate the pace of the game, often dropping into our own half before closing down the opposition.
We will be safe from relegation this season but that should not be the benchmark for this club.
{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more BMD..
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 17:40:49
It isn't the benchmark, we will finish top 10, way short in numbers at the moment but we will be fine. What is true is if we had won 1-0 or via penalties, nobody would be on here saying boring. What I felt yesterday was frustration at some of the decision making by professional players who drill and practice this stuff week in week out.
A big lump of a striker that cannot hold a ball up, a striker that only needed to take half a step backwards for the ball to drop on his chest but instead let's it roll off the back of his head. Basic stuff.
10 Jan 2026 22:39:26
We came back to 1-1 and looked okay, we have all said it before but our second Team would have been okay with a striker, it got so ridiculous at Beto's clumsiness people were actually laughing, I kid you not.
The most incredulous thing though was the penalties in all my years and I expect a huge proportion of us older ones I have never seen such stupidity, I wouldn't have patted those two's backs.
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 00:44:59
Beto stood on the half way line and watched Barry do a hop, skip and a jump before rolling the ball into the keepers waiting arms. So he steps up and does the exact same thing. Worst penalties I’ve seen since Onanas against Fulham for us a few years ago.
As hard as it is to believe but Beto is getting worse as the season goes on.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 12:34:50
The pair of them need binning. Wouldn’t care if we gave them away they offer nothing.
10 Jan 2026 21:13:48
Aznou made Moyes look a right t*** today. Full-blooded challenges, desire and endeavour from the first minute.
Imagine having your schooling at the likes of Barcelona and Munich and then seeing Mykolenko get picked ahead of you for months on end, without even a sniff of a game, even off the bench.
Congratulations to him for backing up his social media post on the pitch.
I don't know what you have to do to get a chance either mate. Well played today young man.
Agree8
10 Jan 2026 21:51:54
played left wing, technically good, won a lucky penalty (that ref was giving us nothing) had two easier shouts. Did well a bit headless at times. Who did he run straight to for a hug when the pen was given? If you want him to replace anyone put him out wide instead of McNeil or Dibling.
For context Armstrong (played well) 81 percent accuracy 38 passes, Mykolenko 82 percent 39 passes. Both 100 percent tackles won. Our RB had a good game but worse stats.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 22:16:54
These pass stats mean nothing. Half the time it’s a short pass sideways or backwards. As for a 100% tackles just how many was that. I could make one tackle win it then do nothing but would have 100% tackle success🤷♂️.
Agree1
10 Jan 2026 22:17:11
Just nice to see somebody with a bit of bite tbh Dms. He also helps cover the LB well (naturally) , certainly much more than McNeil does. That lad offers absolutely nothing. Every single time, he checks back on to his left foot and puts a sh**e ball in, that more often than not gets blocked.
Armstrong played well again today but was out on his feet in the 2nd half. Really does show the difference between the Championship and the PL, as he has played a lot of football this season.
Was more speaking on the entire season regarding Aznou/Mykolenko, as opposed to todays game.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 22:21:10
I was at the Roma pre-season friendly when Aznou came on for the injured Mykolenco. He looked like a rabbit in headlights - terrified and way out of his depth. I’m really pleased he did well today but let’s see him in a Premier League game for a full 90 minutes.
Moyes has said he has the technical ability but has lacked the physicality. I really hope he makes it but he’s never really played first team football and so has a steep learning curve.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 22:58:22
If I had just put Armstrong up there BMD you would have said brilliant but adding Mykolenko facts in there, it becomes irrelevant.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 23:00:09
Exactly Pojo, the lad had a right go and you can see the talent.
{Ed025's Note - he done well but lets not go overboard here DMS, it was a cameo performance over a number of minutes and that is miles away from a full game mate, im not trying to piss on his chips or anything but its a fact, he is one for development but will have to be introduced gradually imo, give him a half when we are either winning comfortably or getting beaten out of sight i would say and take it from there, well thats what i think..
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 23:14:59
Never take pre-season into account personally. Get world beaters that then don't play a minute and get lads that are unfit and need to get up to speed.
Certainly looked physically capable to me today. Went full throttle into Mukiele and won the ball no questions asked like prime Hibbo.
He played very well in his half a season for Valladolid and you don't come through at La Masia and Munich if you can't play a bit.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 23:33:24
That's what pojo and I were saying ED.
{Ed025's Note - then we are on the same page DMS, we all want what is best for the club but without being experts...even though we think we are at times, COYB..
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 12:38:57
DMs no I wouldn’t. And correct me if I’m wrong but army Sunderland a Premiership team?
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 18:40:16
Sunderland played well, they have done well against many Teams, their away support is fantastic as is ours. They also had one of the best midfielders (still) in Europe playing yesterday. Mykolenko played well as did Patterson. All their attacks came down our right. Attacks broke down from us not because of our fullbacks. We are a striker short of being a good top 10 side when everyone is fit.
We got to 1-1 against a good side (lucky penalty, we had two better shouts ignored) . We lost not because their keeper saved but because two players decided to take the piss out of this Club and supporters. On an aside the referee (first half in particular) was one of the worse, he made decisions quite a few times about 2 or 3 moves after incidents and ignored others.
10 Jan 2026 21:01:16
What would people prefer to happen?
Keep our powder dry this window and get to the end of the season in a moderate position in the table, shake Moyes' hand and get somebody else in with a full "war chest" .
Get some players in this window to try and finish as high as possible and potential squeak into the Europa Conference league?
{Ed025's Note - option 1 for me BN, this season is gone now and if we do sack Moyes the new incumbent will be saddled with players he may not want, plus we are not equipped for Europe next season even if we do buy a couple of players mate..
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 21:53:32
I couldn't have put that better myself Ed. I think it is true that finishing in Europe will make us a more appealing proposition for players but I think Europe would hinder us too much at this stage.
Any thoughts on a manager Ed?
{Ed025's Note - i would actually like Eddie Howe BN, an Evertonian and a good man manager who plays a nice brand of football, could well be lined up to be the next England manager so the prospects of getting him seem slim mate..
Agree1
10 Jan 2026 21:57:42
Would not sack Moyes at season end (we will finish top 10) but not going to get anyone in Jan so keep our funds for summer window. Wouldn't buy Grealish £50 mill either, rather go younger for less - Aznou? . The lad did a little bit of Ndiaye today.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 22:18:08
Ditto Ed, let’s not keep following the same pattern and hope for a different result.
Agree0
10 Jan 2026 23:17:47
I agree Ed, Howe is a very good manager. I have close friends who worked for him at Bournemouth and now Newcastle and he isn't very well-liked. By all accounts he is extremely arrogant and up his own jacksie but I guess if he wins football matches .
{Ed025's Note - i thought he was very amiable BN but i cant doubt your info mate, i suppose you have to have a bit of steel in this business but he does come across very well in the press, who would your choice be?..
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 08:57:29
At the moment and realistic choices on who we could get - remembering this lot are not going to throw money at a situation - Moshiri style - I stick with Moyes.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 09:09:35
Sorry chaps but o cannot see Howe coming to Everton. He is doing well at Newcastle, if he leaves there it will be for one of the top top clubs I'm afraid.
Look at West Ham before wishing Moyes away.
Agree1
11 Jan 2026 12:41:44
Or you could look at West Ham and say look what Moyes left them with.
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 13:10:13
As did I Ed, which is why I was quite shocked. Have even seen some stuff on his time with Newcastle and saw the way he was with his young lads.
I haven't a clue to be honest Ed. I don't think we will be able to get the likes of Iraola or Glasner without having to pay stupid money and we have been stung in the past by doing this in the PL e. g. Silva and Koeman.
The "sexy" appointment would be Cesc Fabregas. I have watched Como play a few times after hearing what a great job he was doing. He would certainly modernise us in terms of tactics and has a great standing in the game. He will probably bide his time a bit and wait for a top European club to come calling though I suspect.
Ole Werner would be another decent one and perhaps more realistic. He was out of work after working wonders with Bremen and getting them back into the Bundesliga in his first season. He then kept them in the Bundesliga and moved them forward but decided to part ways after feeling that the club were refusing to match his ambitions by backing him with signings. He has since been recruited by Leipzig and they are doing well but they seem to be a club that plan for the future, so maybe we could tempt him with the pull of the PL, I don't know.
In terms of more realistic options I would be happy with the below
Julian Schuster - Freiburg. Missed out on CL football on the final day of the season. Has them sat in 8th this season. Sets his team up to be organised, making sure they understand their specific man-to-man roles, ensuring opponents' attacks are neutralised more than trying to counter them. Would not be alien to our current team but with a more progressive approach.
Claudio Giraldez - Celta. Used to operating on a shoestring budget. Worked with Celta's youth side before taking over from our mate 'The Fat Spanish Waiter'. Likes to promote youth, so would seem to align with our new recruitment policy. 7th place finish in his first season and is currently sat in 7th again. I watched them play Real Madrid recently beating them 0-2 at the Bernabeu - it was very impressive.
Christian Ilzer - Hoffenheim - Cut his teeth in what you could call the minnow leagues in Europe. He took TSV Hartberg to a 2nd place finish and secured promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga for the first time in their history. He then moved to Wolfsberger and secured a 3rd place finish in the Austrian Bundesliga and qualified for the Europa League group stage for the first time in their history. Managed Sturm Graz and finished 2nd 2 years on the spin. He won coach of the season and won the cup that year, before winning the league tand cup double the following season and stole the title away from Salzburg, who I think had won it for a decade straight. He also got them into the CL group stage for the first time since 2001.
He is now at Hofffenheim and has them in 6th, 2 points off 3rd place.
Raffaele Palladino - Atalanta. Cut his teeth with Monza and managed to get them 11th and 12th in back to back seasons in Serie A - quite an achievement. Then got the Fiorentina job and managed 6th place after they had struggled for a long time. He then left Fiorentina and moved to Atalanta, replacing our mates new manager, Gasperini. Firorentina have dropped like a stone and currently sit at the bottom of Serie A. Atalanta currently in 7th, 7 points off CL. Their form has taken a dramatic upturn and they seem to be getting to grips with his style.
If he came in, we would definitely need to recruit new full-backs, as that is what his approach relies on, providing width high up the pitch, defending in a high line, and occasionally inverting.
{Ed025's Note - wow BN that is great information right there mate...cheers for that..
Agree0
11 Jan 2026 14:18:14
Pleasure Ed. All we can do is hope that we get the next one right hey. Our strike rate is far from ideal.
{Ed025's Note - we are where we are BN and hopefully its just the start of the process mate, we have to hope TFG have the right plans in place to get us to where we belong but the recruitment really needs to improve...time and tide wait for no one..
