I'm pretty sure, Beto is a nice guy, who works hard in training, and on the pitch, gives 100% however he simply does not have the technical ability to hold down a starting place in a premiership football club.
Till January, it is not possible to bring in a replacement, given that Barry is not ready yet, there seems to be little to lost by trying one or two from the under 21s.

There is, you risk not only ruining any future they have by throwing them in before they are ready. You also give us no height to aim for, meaning more players will be around Grealish and Ndiaye, cutting off our creativity.

Never really expected anything from today. Our record against City is terrible. No Grealish absolutely kills us. We lose all of our composure on the ball or ability to change the pace of the game, the width and balance disappear because Charlie wants to naturally drift inside. It is not his fault, he just isn't a wide player.
The strikers we all know about already.
I think both those goals were avoidable though and our defence should be questioned, especially since they get their praise when they play well.
Same sh**e has been happening time and time again, Michael Keane has been involved for years but I noticed that Tarkowski suffers the same terrible decision to ball watch.
I will never understand why when the opposition flanker has the ball and is driving down the line, our entire backline just ball watch staying in line with the full back and continue running towards the goal until they are right in Pickfords way and on his goal line.
Haaland didn't even have to be clever or creative to find space, he literally just slowed down and had a tap in. Why isn't at least one of the CB's staying tight, the other one defends the cut back and the marks the space. It is not like the old days where they have 2 strikers to worry about and move off them.
It was very much rinse and repeat for their second as well.
If that penalty decision was down the other end, they get it. Not that it would have mattered.
On to the next one.

Moyes has said Keane should of stuck to Haarland for 1st goal but he kept running goalwards because of watching what winger was doing and not where haarland was. Was a really good 1st half performance and Ndiaye was up for it today. Loved it in 1st half when he was breaking from our half and had 3 to 4 man city players trying to tackle fresh air as he turned them inside out. But games over and spurs next. Jack's back and back to a more consistent team next week.

Did he actually Dentie? Well I guess that is a start because no one has ever told them afterwards before. Happened so many times over the years, it is criminal.
Moyes sets his teams up well which is why we always have chances to pick up wins but this team is still weak in vital areas. We have very very limited full backs, that offer nothing in transition. They leave our wingers isolated and never get ahead of them to offer an out ball. Our centre halves work very hard but they aren't good with the ball. JB coming back will be great for us. Then our strikers are just another story.
Ndiaye is a top quality player mate. I have said it for a while, he could play for any team in the league and improve them imo. His work rate and desire is phenomenal and his ability with the ball and to keep it is as good as any wide player. His level would only go up with better players around him as well.
Get as many points as we can before Jan and then try and get a forward with some ability in and a RB. Moyes teams usually finish well in the league. Get to the summer in a fair position in the table so that we can attract better talent and go again.
As many have said, we won't fix the side in one window.

No. We have Graham and Benjamin, neither of whom are physically great, Benjamin has a bit of pace, Graham is like Cannon was in our academy, athletically average but known as a decent finisher.
Neither will make it to our first team if we are being honest. Will have careers in league 1 and 2 maybe.

Barry won 3 headers so that's a sign he's finally been encouraged to believe he's 6ft5. Ok 1 went out for a throw and 2 others pinged off in random directions but he won 100% of his aerials which is a big improvement. People saying if Beto had scored we could have won. Well, with that logic we could have let in 7. So that's 7-2.

Thought he was only out until November Swan. Would have preferred Woltemade to Barry. Saying that, I’d have preferred Vardy or even Antonio at this rate.
Wonder if they tried to cox the likes of David or that Gumundsson I think we were linked with. £60m on two players who sit on the bench and are not ready yet. £60m. We could have bought a striker who would at least give us more threat in front of goal.

{Ed025's Note - it is DMS, the same old tactic of playing a cabbage and replacing him with a turnip at half time is achieving nothing mate, but it is something we will have to put up with until at least January i expect, lets hope that we can muddle trough and get results in spite of it and stay clear of the dreaded relegation battle..

Mateta from palace would be good for us but can't see palace selling him. Larssen from Wolves doesn't look bad either but I guess both wouldn't be available to us. Agree with Swan117 that Toney would be very good signing, but could we afford his obscene wages that he'll be on in Saudi.

Blame the board, they didn’t buy a proven striker in the summer, all us fans could see it and now it’s coming back to bite the team on the bum. We paid £45 million on a very young inexperienced Dibling who may or may not be one for the future when we should have really spending that money on a top forward…we desperately need a proven striker in January!

Because none of our under 21 strikers are good enough to even offer what Beto has so far (hold up, work rate) and playing them for no reason other than “well they can’t be worse” is not going to work.

Work rate because he runs around a bit without actually doing anything of note. But hold up play? His second touch is usually a tackle, he puts us under pressure far too much with his pass poor hold up play.

18 Oct 2025 19:33:52
I am not saying Beto is good, while his hold up isn’t good, he can at least sometimes do it. Our academy players would be physically broken by any of the premier league centre backs.
{Ed025's Note - like it or not Swan we are stuck with him until the next window im afraid...maybe even longer, i would like us to play a different style of play if im honest and get away from this boot the ball long to a target man especially when the said target man is extremely poor, we have some very good attacking players who can cut through a defence rather than hope for a second phase ball coming off defenders mate, unfortunately David is set in stone and has always had a pragmatic approach to the game so even if we had Haaland i doubt things would change much..but it is what it is..

It's not hating, it's facing up to facts. Some of you just can't admit how shocking he is yet are first to accuse others of hating him!
What is boring is the constant 'he works hard' what does that actually mean? It's another way of saying he's a nice fella, runs around a lot (without actually doing anything useful) but he's not good enough for the level he is playing.
At this point there is absolutely no argument, he is a poor footballer who needs to be sold this January. He is one of the worst forwards to ever put on an Everton shirt.
