Ā£8.5. Million bid from Villa for Ben Godfrey wouldhave thought he was worth twice that.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

26 Jun 2024 20:09:01
Twice that! Sorry GB are you having a laugh?

Heā€™s last year of contract with us and has not played many games for us.

Think he could be a decent player but we canā€™t afford to let him go on a free next year so Iā€™d be more than happy with Ā£8.5m for him than losing him for nothing next year if weā€™re not extending his contract.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 20:33:25
Think I read Everton value him at Ā£15 million.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 20:41:00
Any amount over Ā£8million for a lad on his last year that canā€™t get in our first team is a good deal.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 21:31:31
Looks like a few in for him so might just push price up a bit.

26 Jun 2024 21:56:05
- 26
- Fast defender
- Play multiple positions
- 100 + PL apps
- England International

Not that much of a laugh.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 23:30:30
Last year of his contract and has expressed he wants to leave so 8-12 is realistic.

Agree0 0Disagree

27 Jun 2024 08:24:34
is that much of a laugh because he's a defender who can't defend, whether that be at RB, LB or CB

lucky he's quick.

26 Jun 2024 19:26:52
Atalanta bid 15 million for godfrey.

26 Jun 2024 18:37:13

Looks like beto is off to Turkey, Ā£20 million being g quoted
Jose mourinho has approved it as well

Wasn't really cut out for prem league tho

Sensible business being done it seems.

Believable1 0Unbelievable

26 Jun 2024 12:40:26
He was worth a punt in my opinion, but not quite at the level we need to progress. Always put a shift in though and seemed to enjoy playing for the club so I'll wish him well. If we could get anywhere near 20 million fir him I'd be delighted.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 13:37:13
That would be excellent Ā£20 million.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 14:59:43
How much did we sign him for?

{Ed002's Note - ā‚¬20M but best to avoid the finances.}

Agree2 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 15:13:44
I'm fair chuffed about the start this transfer window, we seem like we are really on it.
I see we are linked with Gatti from Juventus, obviously its only speculation but he is a right brute of a defender, would be over the moon if we signed him.

That knew chap from Marseille also looks like a right handfull in the number 10 position.

Ooooooffff i'm feeling positive today!

Agree0 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 15:45:40
Iā€™ll win you all over in the end.

27 Jun 2024 08:25:23

tip for the window, don't believe Turkish sources.

Wan bisaka and lindlerloff plus cash for JB love all the rumours lol šŸ˜†.

{Ed025's Note - they might as well offer us Ant and Dec RON, if they want to take the piss..

Believable3 0Unbelievable

25 Jun 2024 18:15:01
Both players on Ā£100k+ per week.

Lindelof been beset with injury problems and AWB has also had a few.

Whilst think AWB could be a decent addition I think these players/ transfers are no longer what we are trying to do any more and are trying to get wage bill down by recruiting wisely - on their current wages neither would be a good deal for us.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 19:39:11
Ant an dec šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

Agree0 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 21:43:22
Iā€™m not sure Ant stood on Dec would be better in the air than DCL.

Agree2 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 04:40:34
Is the ndiaye deal complete Interested in broga for Ā£35 million how does that work if we sold DCL for Ā£25 million. Glad I ain't an accountant. Confused is an understatement.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 07:34:48
Ron I may be wrong but believe any sales (and the total fee for that sale) before 30th June go towards the psr period for 2023/ 24.

However any incomings are amortised over the length of the contract and only a part of it would show up in that period.

So if we sold DCL for Ā£25m then the full Ā£25m less any fees (agent etc. ) would go as profit in that period.

If we bought Broja for Ā£35m (hope not) and gave him a 5 year contract then only Ā£7m would go in that period for his purchase.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Jun 2024 07:44:22
Ah right thankyou šŸ‘ and I ain't a fan either he can't even get in Albania's starting 11.

25 Jun 2024 09:16:11
Has the potential to be a very good signing this GB, touch of class and outstanding for Sheff Utd when went up, only thing it was championship, think he makes step up with ease.

Best years ahead of him, bags of potential and scoop for sizeable profit. Do for mešŸ‘.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 09:40:07
Some decent early deals. This new proposed owner seems to know exactly what plans are needed and it's looking good gor the future šŸ¤ž.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 10:09:52
The step-up between the championship and the premier league is massive isnā€™t it Mocker.

A bit of concern due to him only scoring 3 in a very poor French league, especially when a 35 year old Aubemayang and 33 year old Lacazette are getting close to 20 goals.

That being said, he canā€™t be any worse than what we have and at least he is comfortable on the ball and loves taking people on.

Having him in the 10 over doucoure certainly improves the dynamics of the team and gives us more attacking impetus.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 10:41:48
Yeah it's quite a step BlueNose, some do it with ease let's hope he can.

Definitely not a out and out striker or direct replacement for Dom if does go, he is and could be that missing link we need and slots in nicely in the 10 role, his goal return wasn't too great in France but didn't see him out there TBF.

At the price not ridiculous in today's market and still only 24 could be very clever business.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 11:30:07
Just what we have been crying out for and nice and earlymfew more gems to come in I reckon.

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 13:21:43
I think it seems as though Dom will be on his way. I wouldnā€™t be against getting Morris in to replace him. Grafts, physical, puts himself about and is a more natural goal scorer. Only a year older too. Makes perfect sense to me.

Agree0 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 18:12:10
I liked the look of Morris more when playing behind the striker at Luton. Then again I liked the look of Adebayo more as an attacking threat. I think he would be great for us up front. Suppose it depends if we are interested though.

Agree0 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 19:56:01
Eds, can you give us an update on Calvert lewin and potential incomings?

{Ed002's Note - At present Everton have priced him out of a move to Newcastle - they could return with a better offer. Wildcard would be MIlan if Zrkzee heads elsewhere.

Iliman Ndiaye (S/W/AM) Versatile forward who only joined Marseille in the summer of 2023 - but the goals have completely dried up. Everton have enquired after a loan with an option to buy, but the player wants to stay in Marseille, although they are keen to sell him and want their ā‚¬20M back but will reluctantly accept slightly less - aligning with what they will be spending on his replacement.

Tammy Abraham (S) With JM departed then it is likely TA will as well. Brentford see him as a potential Toney replacement and Aston Villa will almost certainly provide an option. Spurs may turn to him if they lose out on their first choice. Wildcard would be Everton but it would require UEFA oversight and payments spread over a longer period. Will need to prove his fitness after a terrible injury. Roma may offer him back to Chelsea in exchange for Lukaku.}

Believable1 0Unbelievable

25 Jun 2024 08:51:25
Thank you Ed thatā€™s great. Are we likely to target a winger?

{Ed002's Note - If DCL stays the Ndiaye can play on the wing. Others looked at:

Yankuba Minteh (RW) Left footed RW will perhaps get another loan at Feyenoord after a very good season. Arne Slot was impressed by him but following him to Liverpool, except as cover, would be a huge step up. Everton and Roma offer options but the price is too high for Everton.
Alex Matos (CM/AM/RW) Having had a very good loan to Huddersfield and has been attracting scouts from Everton - who are also tracking another Huddersfield player, Lille, Fortuna DĆ¼sseldorf and PSV at the behest of an ex Chelsea player. Chelsea will likely look to another loan rather than a sale with Bayer Leverkusen keen.
Assane Diao (LW/RW) Interest gone.

Much is still down to departures and has been eased by Jack Harrison.}

Agree1 0Disagree

25 Jun 2024 15:32:36
Thatā€™s great Ed thank you. Hopefully a strong squad at the end of the summer, a very good start already. Add a winger, another centre mid (ndidi) and a forward and only lose Calvert Lewin I think sets us up nicely for a comfortable season and we can then start to build for next year.

24 Jun 2024 20:29:34
The original story was January 2023 GB.

Not heard or read anything new on this. Just someone regurgitating old news it appears or unless they gone on again.

24 Jun 2024 21:03:27
Certainly the future is looking a lot positive GB.

Look forward to seeing what our squad looks like come close of the window, regardless I will be getting behind Dyche and sticking to my belief in him and taking us forward next couple seasons. šŸ’™šŸ™.

{Ed025's Note - im getting excited for the new season as well Mocker..

Agree2 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 21:11:05
Steady Ed you know what the doctor said mate donā€™t get toooooo excited.

Ha Ed. am in same boat bud, had bit of blowout at weekend as off on a 12week low calorie shakes and soup diet start of July to help get my type 2 diabetes into remission.
Like you said previously this getting old ain't right cracky (only 47 mind) .

{Ed025's Note - im 66 Mocker and just retired, i have also got type 2 mate but thats because i eat too much having just given up smoking, im still falling to bits mind but playing a lot of golf now, im hoping we can all meet up one day at BMD god willing and have a good old natter and a few pints..

Agree1 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 21:57:17
That would be great EdšŸ‘ I don't do myself any favours with diet and drinking. You got to live tho hey pal.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Mocker, over the years i spent a lot of money on booze, cigarettes and dodgy women mate...the rest i squandered.. :)

Agree1 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 22:13:50
Sounds like a plan Ed25 - just got to get there first! More greens, more fibre, more ironā€¦ looks like weā€™ll all be on the stoat, Guinness and fruity cocktails for the foreseeable future.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely BR, the only greens im interested in at the moment though are the ones on the golf course mate, and the only iron my 7 iron, but i am partial to good pint of Guinness..

Thoughts?

{Ed025's Note - it would work for me Chalkie mate..

Believable1 0Unbelievable

24 Jun 2024 18:50:59
Looks a good deal Ed eh, on another note have you heard anything on the rumour Quatar Airways may be interested in our naming rights worth over Ā£200 million.

{Ed025's Note - i have not heard about a Quatar Airways naming rights bid GB, but i must say that i am turning into you mate as far as my positivity goes.. :)

Agree0 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 19:31:21
Early work being done in the transfer window, chuffed with that.

{Ed025's Note - yeah GB, makes a welcome change mate..

Agree0 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 22:16:35
As long as we arenā€™t cooking the books GB, itā€™s all good news though not the major attacking threat we expected or hoped for. If we managed Ndiaye, that might fill some of the void.

Agree0 0Disagree

24 Jun 2024 23:03:04
I'm sure Marseille will try and recoup most of what they paid for him which seems a lot for a player with his goal record. I'm not convinced personally, he's a championship player.

25 Jun 2024 01:11:20
Agreed no better than maupay if you ask me.
