Intriguing this run in to the end of the season, chalk and cheese to last season, win tomorrow will be absolutely massive for us, Europe here we come.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 May 2026 19:58:47
Yeah, tomorrow feels huge. Win and it's on, lose and we're done. Still, how much better is this than the previous few years.

09 May 2026 20:10:39
The best in ages, mate.

10 May 2026 06:09:22
1 pt out of 9, yep best in ages.

10 May 2026 07:17:36
Could so easily have been 6 points in our last two games except for bent refs. I'm well happy with our Team.

10 May 2026 10:17:50
Could so easily have been 6 points? You are in a world of your own, mate, LOL.

10 May 2026 12:08:27
No mate, are you saying that was not a penalty against West Ham, which would have changed the game, and the last goal scored from City was well outside the allotted time, bent refs more like mate.

10 May 2026 12:39:50
It's great because the prize could be Europe and not survival. It's bad because we have been unable to win games we should have. I can't actually decide if I should be happy or usually frustrated.

10 May 2026 13:12:28
Out of relegation was the first step, then move up the table. DM and the team are to be commended. Where we are now is a good achievement.

10 May 2026 13:12:37
You have to be happy it's not another relegation scrap, T-Ace. My nerves have been shot in previous seasons and I'm delighted we aren't going into each game thinking we have no chance.

I know people have been talking about European football next season, but I think it'll mess us up like Newcastle, Palace, Forest, etc.

I'd prefer us to win the League Cup or FA Cup next season whilst we are sorting out the squad. Yes, players are attracted by European football but I worry we are not anywhere near ready for a Euro campaign yet.

10 May 2026 13:15:17
Yep it could have been better, but we would have been head over heels if we had known last season where we would end up in this one.

09 May 2026 16:07:20
Hope City carry on with their good luck this afternoon to beat Brentford.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2026 20:25:52
Well that's worked out well.

08 May 2026 23:49:19
Anyone else surprised with what Moyes said about using youth/young players from the bench:

" The one thing you do want when you get into situations is you really need young players, who you can go to and have on the bench, some games bring them through. We probably don't quite have that yet coming through enough, so it's something we have to try and rebuild again "

Where did that come from? Thought we had a young bench but he was reluctant to use them!

Agree2 Disagree0

09 May 2026 10:04:27
Pretty sure this is a nice way of him saying they're not ready yet. We're all just like 'yeah, chuck the youngsters in, they'll do a better job', but DM and his coaching staff have been trained at what they do and see these players a lot more than we do. They're the professionals and we're fans.

09 May 2026 10:21:05
So obviously he's saying the club gutted out a fantastic youth setup, one of the best in the country to save some money when the s*** was hitting the fan. And now says we have a long road back to getting the setup back to those levels. It's really not rocket science or a surprise. He's been consistent in every presser when asked. I expect another summer of not only additional squad players but manyo young players. I'm sure loads of moaning will ensue, but it's the entire club and not just a 1st team rebuild. It
's what's rattling the OAPs, panicking they won't get to see it before they pop off.

With the likes of Dibbling, a player DM said in his first presser, 'he'll go straight into the 21s and is one for the future.' Give it 3 to 5 years and see where the new owners have taken us.
I'm sure DM would love to have a club with more wins and dominating more games so the environment and timing is better to introduce a kid or 3 once games are already won. You know? Like the big clubs do it. Instead of baiting fans screaming bloody murder why we don't have a 15 year old prodigy etc etc when other clubs make those headlines. Ones usually in the top 4. The road is long and some won't make it.

09 May 2026 10:46:02
I thought the likes of Aznou, Rohl, Dibling and Armstrong were all at the stage of coming on in the second half with 15mins to spare. Do you not agree? That's what I found strange about the comment. He must rate them a bit to give them the odd game this season, so why not use them as he suggests?

I get we need to build up youth players also, so we can eventually have more 15 year old wonder kids coming on, but may as well use the players we have in the meantime.

09 May 2026 11:15:10
Well, Rohl & Tim have been sitting on the bench most of the season, and look how that's worked out. Moyes likes players who graft, players who can defend as well as attack. That is why players like Alcaraz get overlooked. It's not because he's not good enough, it's because his first thought is to go forward while his defending is poor.
As for bringing young players through, when? Armstrong got brought back and has since just sat on the bench.

How is that helping his development? And what has happened to Aznou? He looked really good when he came on, and I haven't seen him since. And it's not like Micky is playing that well to keep him out.
Moyes is a steady hand but he's not the future if we really are serious about getting back to winning cups.

09 May 2026 11:55:32
Aznou has apparently been a pain in the ass and is looking to be moved on (don't need one of them in the dressing room) . Rohl's recently had hernia surgery and has made appearances when fit and well, same as Harrison, and Dibling was clearly bought for the future.

A lot of fans getting on his back definitely isn't going to help the kid. I personally believe Dibling will become an exceptional player within the next few years and the money we actually spent on him will end up being an excellent deal.

09 May 2026 16:00:44
Hopefully, TFG have seen enough this season to bin Moyes. There is plenty of talent coming free at the end of the season with Premier League experience and play a lot better football than we do.

09 May 2026 16:43:27
Who said Aznou has been a pain in the ass, as you put it. The lad came on, played well, then Moyes reverted to Micky, who has been poor this season. I would be a little pissed off if I was him. But, to say he's disruptive, from who exactly?

09 May 2026 17:44:30
FBS - Far more subtle about us old gits - experts that forget this is by far a different level, even bordering non-league- than when we played. God bless him but I sometimes wish for ED2 back to verbally slap the crap out of us.

08 May 2026 21:28:43
League confirming what we all knew, a penalty should have been awarded against West Ham. Add it to the list.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2026 07:20:06
As frustrating as it is for all of us, I just want us to stop paying sides as poor as West Ham the respect we gave them in the day. They are pants, and we should've beaten them like most have this season. Too many times we don't gain the points we need to win things against sides who are struggling.

Yes, we have had poor decisions against us, and it does seem to be more than others, but come on, these sides at the bottom should be put to the sword, but instead we play as if we are worried they'll beat us.

09 May 2026 11:16:57
Similar to Wolves in the cup, mate. Sat back and let them play and lo and behold, we lost.

08 May 2026 11:45:50
Is it correct that if Villa win the final and stay where they are in the league? Up to 10th spot will get a European place. ?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 May 2026 13:03:48
Yep, and also we could potentially get into the Champions League spots if we get enough points from our last 3 games. All to play for, also many teams in the mix. 3 points against Palace would be massive for us. Looking forward to our match.

08 May 2026 13:54:02
10 teams, not 10th in the league. Palace would take a spot if they win the Conference League. Likely that 8th would get Europe, and 6th would get Champions League. Three wins and we could squeak it.

08 May 2026 14:06:33
All to play for, JB. Would keep to same Team as last game. Rohl has a lot to like about him. He has got serious pace and not frightened of a good tackle.

08 May 2026 15:18:23
Cheers JB, knew that was too many. And, sorry GB, but we all know he will start McNeil. ? ? ? ? ? Hope he doesn't, but we all know DM too well. I would love Alcaraz to get more minutes as well, but we shall see.

Couldn't believe how quick Merlin was left Guhie standing. I'm going 1.3, hoping Palace have been celebrating. Mykolenko, McNeil and Barry on the score sheet. Wonder what SkyBet will pay on that. ? ? ?

{Ed025's Note - they will give you the keys to the shop Ron.. :)

08 May 2026 15:20:34
Until we don't do well and everyone says how crap he and certain others are. You do not get to play at this level if you are a bad player, in fact, you don't get anywhere near it. Oh, unless you have an agent that can sell the story.

08 May 2026 17:58:33
I think he will go with Rohl RM, hope so anyway, mate. He's some player.

09 May 2026 09:54:10
£533/1 It pays so have put £5 on it lol. ?

I've just seen transcript from an interview with Rohl after the Man City game. That's 1st time in a long time he has played on wing by all accounts. He also said he knew he was fast (he surprised me when he blew defender away) and a more interesting point.

He is more than comfortable playing in the right back position. Could he be out new Jimmy Garner for excelling at full back?

Look I don't want to p*** on anyone's parade especially those who believe Moyes is the next coming of the messiah, but can anyone explain to me why we boot the ball upfield when we have the kick-off? It goes right to the opposition within my eyes the message that "you can have the ball, we are going to defend".
The difference in the tactics between the first half and the second against City is like night and day. We are so much better moving further up the field and attacking more.
What a difference the team is with two youngish players, Tim and Merlin playing.

Does anyone believe that Tim would have been playing if Gueye was not injured? Will be interesting to see if Tim keeps his place when Gueye is back.
We need 9 points from the remaining games. Let's forget the defensive tactic, David, and let's have a go. Play like we did in the second half against City. We can do it. Please use Armstrong, Alcaraz, Aznou, Dibling and even Graham off the bench with sufficient time left on the clock for them to have a chance of impacting the game.

07 May 2026 07:43:50
If only Mike.

07 May 2026 11:46:14
It's a well trodden path this one.
For what it's worth, I believe there's a large space for opinions between 'he's the Mesiah' and 'he's sh**e'.
We make predictions as if playing youngsters guarantees a better outcome when we have no idea if it will.

We'd all like to see more young players coming through and having an impact, of course, when they get their chance, they have to take it, as Rohl did on Monday.
Let's start with a win on Sunday, and a more positive approach in the first half.

07 May 2026 12:52:41
For what it's worth, JB, I think that he is a good manager and is as blue as all of us. He has taken us from the bottom of the league to at least mid-table and close to a European spot.
He is also, frustratingly, a one-tactic manager. He relies heavily on his proven players, is too defensive minded, and does not use his whole squad effectively, especially the younger ones. To sum it up, a lot of the football is boring.

He is unlikely to change his tactics. New players will help if he plays them. I expect him to get a one year extension.
An ideal scenario in my opinion would to get Lee Carsley in as a Coach under Moyes with the objective to make him our Manager in the future. He has a great knowledge of young players and would be able to help with the recruiting and their development.

07 May 2026 15:42:23
Mike, I agree with all of that. And the Carsley point is a great one.

07 May 2026 16:32:46
Yep, good post Mike. He's not the future, but a safe pair of hands when it was very much needed. Seems to be a harmonious dressing room too. I suppose a lot depends on who is available and who would come to us. Carsley, you'd expect, would. I'd bite your hand off for Iriola but I suspect he has suitors elsewhere.

07 May 2026 19:06:21
I certainly don't think of DM as the Messiah, but I have no doubt he has done a superb job with the players available to him. I want to see him given a couple of windows first before looking to replace or keep him, he deserves that at least.

07 May 2026 20:05:31
You want to give Carsley the job, not sure that's a good idea. He has very little experience to be getting the Everton job full time. That's a massive risk. We should be looking to get a top tier manager, someone who has experience running a big club.

That would be a massive leap for Carsley. He should prob take a job in League 1 or 2 and work his way up.

07 May 2026 20:29:44
I admire your positivity GB, I really do. We just have a slightly different viewpoint while both hoping for the best for our club. I believe the squad we have is pretty decent. They showed in the second half against City that they can do well against one of the best. On another day Ndiaye would have berried at least one of the two chances he had.
Moyes with his negative tactics, putting players in positions they are not suited for and not using at least one or two of the youngsters in the starting eleven is not playing to the talents we already possess.

We will never know, for example, how a defense of Patterson, O'Brian, Branthwaite and Aznou would perform. Patterson is not great, but he is a natural right-back and the only game Aznou was in, I thought that he played very well. Merlin and Tim showed what we have been missing, and I hope they play in our next game.

07 May 2026 21:03:08
Dino, mate, read my message a little more carefully. I said bring him in as a coach under Moyes with the objective of making him manager in the future when he is ready. In the meantime, he would be great at identifying young players and coaching them. Isn't that the way Arteta learned at City?

07 May 2026 23:05:57
How did Arteta end up at City? I'm guessing it's the Spanish connection

08 May 2026 08:09:21
He learnt from Pep. I can't see Carsley learning the same off Moyles.

08 May 2026 10:20:13
Actually, I would not want him learning off Pep. So Dino, it was a suggestion, which you obviously are against, which is your right. So what is your solution?

08 May 2026 11:58:29
I am not arguing with you, mate tbh, you know as well as I do that it will be Moyes again next year and we will finish mid table again with the odd win here and there. Moyes has a 37% win rate in his managing career which isn't great. I think Glasner deserves a chance at a good club but not sure what his intentions are for next season.

Dyche has a 34% win record, Moyes only 3% more, which says a lot. Glasner is near a 50% win rate and he has been coaching Palace who sell any good player they get.

09 May 2026 11:21:05
If Glasner came in then there's at least half the team who are not capable of playing his style of football. ?
