3 things to take from England's W/C and last night's game.
1. Pickford done us all proud.
2. D. Spence is defo not joining Everton.
3. If you think John Stones isn't good enough for Everton then you need to give ya head a wobble.

16 Jul 2026 15:53:57
And he'd 32, mate, age is load of cobblers.

1

16 Jul 2026 16:50:41
I don't think anybody thinks he isn't good enough for Everton. It doesn't matter how good he is if we are getting 5 games out of 38 from him.

2

16 Jul 2026 17:18:23
Age is more concerning in the top league when a player is constantly injured. If he's injury free, obviously he can play longer, but sometimes a change of team and training regimes suits a player for career longevity, eg Saha for us, and Dcl seems to be injury free for Leeds.

1

16 Jul 2026 17:24:22
Well, he got caught out for the second goal, but if you want a player who will be injured as much as he plays, then he's your man. Plus his wages will be an issue and it would make him our highest earner.

3

16 Jul 2026 17:33:40
Don't think you can lay blame for 2nd goal on him, brilliant delivery from arguably the best ever player, great movement from a fresh international striker. Konsa more at fault, he could see it all.

His wages might be high, might not be as currently earning Zero. He has ave around 30 games a season at City, I believe. One the lot and is a far superior footballer.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:35:35
Can we just stop talking and looking at past players and just move forward. Why do some of our fans constantly want x players back??

0

16 Jul 2026 18:42:24
Some of us constantly look back, some of us constantly moan. Takes all sorts.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:51:20
We definitely have a lot to moan about supporting Everton.

0

16 Jul 2026 21:05:28
We are the luckiest fans, Skylark, in my view, mate.

0

16 Jul 2026 21:06:43
Skylark, it's not looking back as a priority, but if a very good past player comes available, why not?

1

16 Jul 2026 22:06:26
Because buying old injury prone cast offs whose better days have now passed them by is not planning for the future.

0

16 Jul 2026 10:47:41
Well that was just like watching Everton go one up, sit back and lose. Totally pissed off with that result threw it away.

6

16 Jul 2026 15:55:17
At least Dithering Dave can't be blamed mate. 😂😂

0

16 Jul 2026 17:19:01
He was in the area, GB.

0

16 Jul 2026 18:12:36
It was a game of football. They were the better side. These comments come out from some every season. Surely, some of you must have played, tried your best, and still got beat.

0

16 Jul 2026 10:15:36
England seem to have the same problem as Everton, cannot get the RB position sorted out. (I realise a number of names currently being touted for us in this position) .
England must have used at least three different ones at the World Cup.

1

16 Jul 2026 10:46:18
Ours is unforgivable. We have the whole world to choose from.

2

16 Jul 2026 09:43:34
Mauro Icardi on a free anyone. Natural goalscorer.

0

16 Jul 2026 10:40:34
Isn't he 33/34? Would hope we are past being a retirement club these days.

1

16 Jul 2026 08:56:57
So Leeds are now suing Leicester and the rest like sheep will follow now that Andy Burnham is an MP and maybe Prime Minister. This is the time that the government may now take charge as the regulator and get this corrupt crowd out of football for good. I know politics should not intervene in sport, but the way Masters has allowed the so called Top 6 to bully him into giving in to There demands is shameful. And I think somebody who has no vested interest in getting financial gains and take full control maybe the light at the end of a dark tunnel that Masters and his so called Top 6 have created.

Get this corrupt bunch out for good. Let them have There Super League with £100 plus tickets to watch the same teams week in week out and no doubt the greed would kick in. There the rich want more at the cost of the rich. Let them have There fantasy league and give us back ours and ban them from all UEFA and FIFA competitions. But I bet Infantino would receive his customary brown envelope to scupper that proposal.

3

16 Jul 2026 10:50:31
We had a corrupt owner up until last year - struggle to find any club not.

Don't kid yourself - if we were in top 4, I'm sure Usminov would have pushed for us to be in the Super League.

0

16 Jul 2026 10:56:35
Alan, I'm with you 100% of the way. But, we need them in our league, it pains me to say. If they break away, they will take the money with them and we will be left behind. All the extra revenue from the HDS will start to drop off as we won't be the top league anymore.

This isn't ever going to be fixed, unless the greed is checked. And, nobody will be doing that. Very sad indeed.

1

16 Jul 2026 21:35:36
Thanks Toffee Ace, but I do think that all the fans of those teams would soon get fed up playing each other, with extortionate ticket pricing, plus the cost of travel and accomadation would, in the end, make it crumble as a non-UEFA league. They would miss out on the Champions League, plus every game would be pay per view, adding extra cost for their fans to watch their games.

15 Jul 2026 23:07:41
Well that was just like watching Everton go one up sit back and lose. Totally pissed off with that result - threw it away.

6

15 Jul 2026 23:35:43
Well, you have a manager who takes Henderson instead of someone who can play a number of positions, especially right-back, so what do you expect.

7

16 Jul 2026 07:29:57
Like it or not, Argentina were the better team. It is just one of those things. We have a trait in this country of bigging up, only to turn on those we praise when it goes tits up.

3

16 Jul 2026 07:57:12
Well, we can discuss which was the better team, but they had a better manager. He was the one who picked the team.

2

16 Jul 2026 09:18:10
Not sure they had the better team, but they certainly had the better tactics. Once Anderson got himself booked, he became largely irrelevant in the game. At the start, he was everywhere, but the booking finished him.
As for Bellingham supposedly having a pop at Pickford, well, look at your own performance and tell me you had a good game.

That game last night was just like watching Everton, good start, take the lead, then sit back, and we all know what happens next.

2

16 Jul 2026 11:01:41
Henderson decision was a fail from the start.
Tactics last night were suicidal.
Pickford has saved those in the past.
Bellingham needs bringing down to earth. Too much talk from him.
Argentina deserved the win, England needed to score three because they are poor at the back. It's a shame because England are good enough to beat anyone on the day. Another missed opportunity.

3

16 Jul 2026 12:44:13
You did predict that they would score two goals, TA. Therefore, can you tell me who is going to win the Open? I am there for the weekend and it would be nice to come home with a bit of cash for once.

0

16 Jul 2026 14:59:17
Good on you, Brass. Have a great time, mate. But I'm just so unreliable on predictions so I'll take a rain check. Wish I was wrong about last night too. 🙄

0

15 Jul 2026 21:32:32
Djed Spence just put another 10m on his price tag with that tackle.

2

15 Jul 2026 22:27:40
We have no chance of the Spuds letting him go.

1

16 Jul 2026 09:19:28
Started great but then, like so many, faded to a point where he never crossed the half way line again.

1

15 Jul 2026 19:47:11
Come on England and come on Jordan do us proud!

1

15 Jul 2026 22:07:32
Well the stupid German manager did a Moyes, went all defensive when leading one nil and let them dominate and the inevitable happened.

6

15 Jul 2026 22:28:51
I know it's the hope that kills you. 😭

1

15 Jul 2026 22:59:15
Like watching the Toffees. It was a car crash waiting to happen.

1

15 Jul 2026 23:32:41
Maybe Tuchel has been studying the David Moyes book of "Soccer Management from Winning Positions".

1

16 Jul 2026 09:23:22
Well that's a bit worrying Ed. I mean I'm not a Moyes fan but to hand over to someone with zero management experience would be crazy.

16 Jul 2026 14:00:46
A well respected coach nobody outside of Accrington has heard of. Think TB must have had two many to the head ed (don't tell him I said that) . I would push for Carsley at the end of Moyes contract.

See Digne played a blinder.

1

14 Jul 2026 23:14:51
Entire French team were disappointing, but he is still better than Myko by far if that's your angle.

3

14 Jul 2026 23:49:23
He was playing against one of the top 3 players in the entire world for the last 18 months like.

I just don't know why it wasn't handball tbh. Digne volleyed him after he had charged into the ball and touched it with his arm.

3

15 Jul 2026 07:14:31
Digne was class for us. It was idiotic to sell him as we've been weak there ever since. If we had him back he would need upgrading within two seasons as he will look leggy with age. But I'd take it for two seasons over what we have.

Last night was the World Cup semi final. You're going to be playing against real quality, and, at almost 32, I believe you'd argue apart from that mistake he didn't look out of place given all that.

2

15 Jul 2026 08:22:17
I'm sorry, but he's way past his best and that's what the old Everton would be doing. 32 and getting older, he looked the worst player on the French side, so for me he's a big no no.

2

15 Jul 2026 10:58:44
He was class for us, Toffee ace! But I am in agreement with Bluepasty on this. He had some awful games for Villa last season.

0

15 Jul 2026 11:55:56
One mistake? He got roasted all night. 😂

5

15 Jul 2026 12:32:40
That's what I saw, Away Days, others see different, that's fine. For my eyesight and hearing updates I attend Specsavers. 🤣🤣🤣

0

15 Jul 2026 13:39:01
I know, guys, He's past it. But, apples for apples, Mykolenko looks worse up against a lot less, that's for sure.
For the record I don't actually want him back, but he was completely outclassed by the best in the world, some would argue.

Not a fair fight for me, so I'm reluctant to pile on the guy.
So, if England go through tonight, I wonder how Spence would fair? Some on here would like that upgrade.

0

15 Jul 2026 18:10:28
I'd rather we kept what we had than spend money on a player who has clearly had his best days. I'm not saying he's not better than what we have with his crossing ability, but is he any better at defending? I'm not sure about that.
We need to find the next up and coming left back and right back, not an ageing one who will more than likely get caught out against the young flying wingers in the Prem, which he does.

For me, I'd be very disappointed if he came back, but that's just my opinion and we all know what other people's opinions are, just opinions.

1

14 Jul 2026 22:06:05
Well played Spain absolutely brilliant exactly how football should be played. 👏👏👏

0

14 Jul 2026 22:37:03
Scary!! France's downfall was arrogance, they are a very good side, no doubting that, looks as if World rankings are coming true.

0

14 Jul 2026 22:40:29
That was 2nd against 1st (prior to June) , 4th against 3rd tomorrow.

1

15 Jul 2026 07:16:44
If England are to win tonight they will need to score three. Defence is not up to clean sheets and Argentina will score two at least.
