3 weeks ago Moyes was God on this site and anyone wanted him replaced was crazy. Even Ed was getting it in the neck about Moyes the messiah. Too many people change their mind like the wind. I know that's football and fans are a funny bunch but it's a bit too much.
I don't want Moyes there next season he is too old he needs to retire now I have felt this way from the start of the season I don't care if he wins a few games he is still David Moyes. If we want to move forward we need to change.
{Ed025's Note - i think he has done a very good job to get us where we are now Dino but i just feel that this is as far as he can take us mate, he is very loyal to players who the rest of us think replacing and its very frustrating, we have the nucleus of a very good team i feel but the tactics are holding us back..
26 Apr 2026 10:13:26
I must say, when it's all said and done, we will look back and say, yes, he was the right man for the position we were in at the time, so fair play to him for that, but we want more and we deserve it. Let's push on now, we have all the tools.
26 Apr 2026 11:00:46
You could argue that point two ways. People were praising him because he’s led us into contention for a European spot, which was not expected (nothing to do with a grand history) , with what we all know is a limited squad. It is reasonable to expect that, with 4 or 5 signings, we would push on again.
There is risk with hiring someone new, and we’ve seen the downsides to regular changes of manager. Spurs, West Ham, Forest, etc. If you could get Iriola, I’d be tempted, but I wouldn’t sack Moyes for an unknown quantity.
26 Apr 2026 11:30:46
With you on that, JB.
26 Apr 2026 11:49:41
Yes, you're right, it is risky, but no risk, no reward. I don't mind that Moyes came in and steadied the ship. I just don't want us going into next season with this same formation and tactics. You know Moyes won't change. He will get rid of Barry and Beto, and just look for someone similar, another 6ft 3 donkey, and play the same boring way.
And yes, we will win enough games to finish 10th, but that's it. Where is the Palace manager going? Glasner, is he not worth a shout? He has done well with Palace, especially given the fact they sold all their good players and never gave him any money to spend.
26 Apr 2026 11:57:11
Don't worry, Deano, he's looking to bring in young players like Stones and Wilson. Would you trust dithering Dave with 100 mil to spend?
26 Apr 2026 13:28:57
Stones no, but Wilson on a free would be a no brainer, then spend big on a striker.
26 Apr 2026 13:44:17
The problem is that the club had money to spend, and they wasted it on Dibling, Alcaraz, Aznou and Rohl (who I think we are now committed to paying for at season end) , who he will not play, and Barry, who he insists on playing, while we have been in need of a right-back and a striker for ever. It has been reported that Moyes has a big impact on who we recruit; if that is the case, who wants to trust him with an extensive transfer pot this transfer window?
It is not only his tactics that is a problem, but blaming a poor squad is also becoming his issue.
He has done a great job in stabilizing us and getting away from the periodic relegation issue, and will have our gratitude for that, but giving him an extended contract risks more of the same and is becoming too high a risk, and if he makes a mess of recruiting could set us back for years.
We need a new manager with more modern tactics who can bring a new support team capable of identifying better players and who is willing to give youth a chance. Yes I know this is also a risk, but maybe one that is worth taking.
26 Apr 2026 13:49:20
That's absolute rubbish, Bleeds Blue. DM is not looking to bring young players at all; he says it time and time again; he wants players who can go straight into the team.
26 Apr 2026 15:29:28
He's young players at his disposal now who don't see any game time, he's useless with youngsters.
26 Apr 2026 15:43:20
You can't listen to DM's news conferences, BleedsBlue. He will not play any of the young lads in the first Team. He has said countless times they will go out on loan or wherever, and then, if they are good enough, will play some part. DM will be given a decent budget this window. Judge him after that.
26 Apr 2026 15:50:53
GB, I would not trust him with a decent budget. I know we have different perspectives for going forward, and you're a glass half full guy, but in the end we all want the same thing, success for this amazing club.
26 Apr 2026 16:17:21
Agree, mate, but just compare to where we were last year. DM has done an amazing job. I just happen to think he should at least get a couple of windows to clear out our few average players. We owe him that, mate. If we go downhill, then we change it. He has to be judged then, mate.
26 Apr 2026 16:56:28
You know what, mate, you're probably right in the grand scheme of things.
23 Apr 2026 17:54:30
Keane signs on for another year. Sensible bit of business for me.
{Ed025's Note - and ma JB..
23 Apr 2026 20:59:33
He's been excellent this season, fully deserves another year. Clearly a very good professional.
24 Apr 2026 07:17:46
Good news that.
24 Apr 2026 17:55:49
Hope it's to play striker. 😂
{Ed025's Note - me too BMD, a lot better than we have mate..
24 Apr 2026 21:14:27
My 95 year old aunty is better than what we've got.
{Ed025's Note - tell her to bring her boots next week Swinners.. :)
25 Apr 2026 17:36:32
You know what, when his confidence was shattered, we all had a lot to say, including me. I couldn't enjoy a game with him starting. He's come through that and never puts the blame anywhere. He's a true pro, he deserves the contract. He's worked incredibly to earn the last and this extension. Well done MK.
25 Apr 2026 17:37:52
None ever do ED, we all talk a good game. Best 11 Everton never had sit around me. 🤣
21 Apr 2026 16:47:42
Reading that JB will be out for around 2 months with his hamstring injury which is not as bad as first feared, good luck JB and hope all goes well and your back fit for start of next season.
21 Apr 2026 19:15:24
Any news on Beto. Him being out is worse than JB with regards to replacements.
21 Apr 2026 20:41:50
Any of our first Team out is not good news. We have a really small squad of first Teamers mate.
21 Apr 2026 21:20:30
But is there any news on Beto? It looked like he'd smashed his eye socket. : (
22 Apr 2026 21:07:10
These days, they can play wearing a mask to support that. Just depends on how bad it was, and how much pain he is in.
23 Apr 2026 08:05:32
Well, he wears blinkers now so shouldn't be a problem, and the knock on his head might straighten up his shots.
19 Apr 2026 21:26:05
Guess how many times Mykolenko lost the ball today?
19 Apr 2026 21:40:10
Let's be honest. Barry was useless and still is useless, and George is as well. Worst subs I have ever seen.
20 Apr 2026 08:54:30
Agree with Micky and Barry, but how you can say George is useless, based on what exactly?
{Ed025's Note - he has not had enough time to render him useless, unlike Dwight who was absolutely useless yesterday BMD and should have been replaced a lot earlier imo mate..
20 Apr 2026 10:08:08
Jury's out on George. He did have several good opportunities to attack the full back and bungled it each time. McNeil has had good moments in the past couple of months, but was poor yesterday. I've said it all season, we've overachieved with the squad we have, 4 signings away from having a very competitive team. That'll be the aim in the summer.
{Ed025's Note - fair points there JB..
20 Apr 2026 10:53:18
We need two modern day full backs for either side. Also a striker. Add to that a few replacements for others that will leave. I'm expecting a few changes in the summer and hope these areas of concern are addressed.
20 Apr 2026 13:24:43
If Spurs drop, would you go for Pedro Porro?
20 Apr 2026 14:42:10
I alluded to it earlier, but the only one that disappoints me is McNeil, his reactions are non-existent, decision making awful. Still, Moyes liked him.
14 Apr 2026 14:16:09
Bournemouth’s head coach Andoni Iraola leaving at the end of the season. Everton should try to buy their Right Back and Left Back, problem then solved for many years.
14 Apr 2026 20:16:40
Get Iraola too to work alongside Moyes until Moyes' contract is up.
15 Apr 2026 11:47:10
Have to dig into your piggy bank, Dentilad.
15 Apr 2026 12:29:45
Could see Moyes going for that. 😂😂
15 Apr 2026 20:04:44
Utd Madrid and Palace are interested in him have seen.
15 Apr 2026 20:59:33
Don't see him going Palace. I think he'll head back to Athletico.
16 Apr 2026 20:05:01
If I'm dipping into my piggy bank, dmsblues, then I hope an IOU will be accepted until I rob a bank lol.
13 Apr 2026 12:12:16
Hey BN, was reading we are interested in signing Arthur Attar. Hope I spelt that right. Have you any info on him, mate? From Udinese I think, mate.
13 Apr 2026 18:21:12
Evening GB.
Pretty much spot on mate - Arthur Atta.
Have not seen him play myself. 23 year old French u20 international with a handful of games. Broke through with Metz for a couple of seasons and then was loaned to Udinese, who thought he did well enough to make it a permanent for around EUR8m.
Seen as a box-box no8 and Udinese seem to utilise him in different formations, be that sat in front of a pivot, a flat 2, or an attacking inverted 8 behind the striker.
Best qualities are his ball-carrying ability and dribbling. He ranks in the top dribbling midfielders in the league.
A 6ft 2 frame allows him to receive the ball under pressure and drive forward, breaking through the lines. Described as press resistant.
Apparently Fulham had a bid rejected in January at around EUR20m and are said to be going back in with a higher bid in the summer. The usual top Italian teams are also sniffing around mate.
13 Apr 2026 18:39:38
Thanks for that mate.
04 Apr 2026 17:56:35
Links to Senesi recirculating. No brainer for us if he isn't going to a top top club.
No fee to pay for a brilliant PL proven defender, who is also a goal threat. Still a good age and would be a plug in and play for the likes of Keane.
Also left-footed so would allow JB to move across.
05 Apr 2026 15:11:19
Would definitely take him on a free. 👍
05 Apr 2026 17:55:03
Yep that's for sure.
05 Apr 2026 22:56:22
Agree, lads, think if we can somehow persuade him to join us he be a decent acquisition but I imagine a few clubs circling for his signature.
09 Apr 2026 23:49:54
Qualifying for the Champions League might be quite persuasive, just a thought.
02 Apr 2026 14:26:47
Everton linked with Christian Kofane of Bayer Leverkusen.
19 year old Cameroonian international.
Watched this lad in the CL against Arsenal and City. He is aggressive off the ball, presses well from the front and closes defenders down quickly.
Seems brilliant at getting the run on his man and attacking the box - a bit like Giroud used to do poaching near-post finishes. Big physical lad at 6ft 2 and puts himself about.
Seems like the player we were supposed to be getting when we got Barry. Perhaps Bayer would be interested in a swap hahah!
02 Apr 2026 20:03:20
Just out of curiosity, did you know anything about Beto or Barry before we bought them BN?
02 Apr 2026 21:59:45
Not Barry, BR. Knew nothing about the lad but I think he had only been at Villareal for the season before we signed him.
Beto, I actually knew of because of Del Boy, tbh. They played at Udinese together and struck up a decent partnership, reminiscent of his and Lukaku's.
To me he looked like he would be a decent centre-forward for us. In his defence, we have not played to his strengths in the slightest.
We have seen shades of him at his best when we play the ball in behind. Pertinent goals that spring to mind like Doncaster, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea.
He is by no means the best footballer and I would prefer a more well-rounded player leading the line for us but there is no reason why he couldn't score 10/15 goals a season for us, if we played to his strengths.
03 Apr 2026 22:04:47
I actually watched a few Villarreal games when Barry was playing for them and, although his stats looked good (I think it was 11 in 35 games) , he was absolute garbage. He missed numerous sitters, fell over the ball and looked out of his depth (sound familiar?) .
I couldn't believe it when we were linked with him and posted on here last summer that he was crap, but obviously hoped that he would prove me wrong if we signed him.
What made matters worse was when he signed he said that Moyes convinced him to come to us by telling him that he would do well in the Premier League. To be honest, I don't recall anyone else being in for him.
I don't know what it is with our club and crap French strikers. First Maupay and now this clown. Both are crap, Maupay vaguely resembled a footballer, but Barry certainly doesn't. Both stank the place out with their attitude and both criticised their own fans on social media.
If we can only sign one striker in the summer then I would keep Beto. Barry has to go. I'm sick of the sight of him sitting on the bench sulking with his head in his hands. It shows a terrible attitude.
I don't care how much we get for him, just get shut, put it down to experience and move on.
{Ed025's Note - im with you SB..
04 Apr 2026 16:30:48
Agree, mate. Time to get a decent striker at last.
05 Apr 2026 08:52:14
Shropshire, don't forget Mikael Madar. 💩
But on the upside we did have Louis Saha.
30 Mar 2026 22:52:23
Just read a rumour linking us to Watkins. Although it is probably horse s***, it did make me think about the possibility of signing him or not.
What would people's thoughts on him be?
31 Mar 2026 06:27:11
If they don't make CL, it is possible.
{Ed025's Note - i think he is on his way down myself Cookie, DCL and Wellbeck are ahead of him in the England squad mate..i think that tells you everything..
31 Mar 2026 09:24:29
He's looked out of sorts this season, would be expensive, and have no sell on value. Would rather we went for someone on the up. I'd be happy to see Jhon Duran come in or Agehowa from Porto.
31 Mar 2026 09:33:06
I was kinda hoping the days of buying older players had gone now.
{Ed025's Note - yeah Brass i was hoping we had moved on from the EFC retirement home for ageing players mate..
31 Mar 2026 13:11:34
He has definitely had a quieter season JB but still managed 9 goals and 2 assists.
Before that his numbers are very good tbf:
2024/25 16 8
2023/24 19 18
2022/23 15 8
2021/22 11 3
2020/21 14 9
It is a weird one. I have never been a fan of him and think he is very wasteful but those numbers can't be argued with.
I get the retirement home shout as well Ed but 30 isn't as old as it used to be and he isn't a player that relies on pace or anything like that.
Caught in two minds about it tbf. He does guarantee goals in the hardest league in the world and would easily be our best striker ahead of the other two lads.
Cheers for your thoughts Gents.
31 Mar 2026 18:09:46
He's an upgrade on what we have for sure, BN. If he was out of contract I'd be tempted. I just think, for what he'd cost, we should be looking at a younger option.
{Ed025's Note - im with you JB..
31 Mar 2026 18:21:38
Probably right, JB. Think it is rumoured to be around 30m, so the same price as Barry.
31 Mar 2026 19:20:07
30m for a thirty year old? I get players play longer now, but just don't see that as value for money. As for Barry, the only thing I can say about that is why?
31 Mar 2026 21:46:46
I think there are better players to lead the line out there, BN.
Thiago at Brentford would be an interesting one to go for. It depends on whether Brentford would sell, but I also think bigger clubs will be in for him. Also think Evanilson at Bournemouth, when fit, could be a decent player to go for.
There's no questioning he's an improvement on what we have, but that's because of the poor choices we have made in the transfer market over the last few seasons.
It's looking more and more that Beto is our best striker, and that says a lot about our scouts. They probably haven't heard of Watkins, as he isn't a stupidly expensive and overrated kid that may or may not come good in 5 years time. We have one of those in the U21s, but don't seem to look there either!
31 Mar 2026 22:35:41
Get 10-15 goals out of him a season for 2 seasons and it wouldn't represent bad business, Brass, but I get exactly what you mean.
Never liked the look of Barry when we first scouted him tbh.
Couldn't agree more, Br. Whilst I can appreciate he is effective, and has at times, and, numbers-wise, been a top quality PL striker, I have never particularly liked him as a player.
That being said, if we got him in, I wouldn't be p**sed off. You are likely to get a solid 2-3 years out of him and you've got an experienced head to go with a younger Beto or Barry replacement.
I like Jb's shout for Samu from Porto but I can't see him costing anything less than 50/60m.
01 Apr 2026 17:32:59
Don't want Villa cast offs. I'd get Big Rom of Napoli, makes more sense to me.
10 Apr 2026 00:03:31
Both have been good players, but with respect, both seem on the downward track, my preferred option would be Brobby from Sunderland.
Strong, quick, great hold up play, and an eye for a goal. Add to the above, 25 years of age, coming to his prime, but don't know if Sunderland would sell, or for how much, but worth a phone call.
29 Mar 2026 00:13:23
Links to Roggerio Nyakossi - 22 yr old, right-footed, 6ft 4 Swiss CB. Contract runs until June 2027 and available for below 10m.
By all accounts he is a big and powerful lad, who is dominant in the air. He can actually carry the ball quite well considering his frame. Has captained some of his youth national sides up to Swiss U21's.
Physically elite.
Defensively aggressive.
Technically still very raw.
Marseille have a buy-back clause apparently and the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool are interested, as well as clubs across Europe.
29 Mar 2026 19:33:01
Not heard of this one, mate, Tarks would teach him a thing or two, I'm sure.
30 Mar 2026 13:29:37
Be a good 3rd/4th choice behind JB and JOB. Sort out the LB and RB slots, and we would look good defensively.
