Anyone get why we are naming two keeper on the bench? Surely better now if the younger players, even if they don't get on, would give them some encouragement.

Rumours about Pickford's fitness. He is possibly carrying a knock, and they were worried he might not make it through the Spurs game.

1

16 Sep 2026 17:01:38
Because we only have 12 players.

1

16 Sep 2026 19:14:52
Well he's playing tonight which is a surprise.

1

16 Sep 2026 19:42:21
He looked good in pre season I thought.

1

16 Sep 2026 20:24:22
Travers that is.

Have we got anyone in the club we can try up front tonight? I know we have Graham, but is he our only option or is there anyone else knocking about the reserves or under 21 or even under 17? Anything is worth a try or is Barry it? That’s all we have.

I am losing the will to live watching the guy. He can’t pass, can’t run, can’t take a touch, can’t finish. I would be willing to give anyone a go up there under 14s, anyone any ideas?

I'm 74, have two bad knees, but am bringing my boots, just in case.

16 Sep 2026 13:47:46
George has played as a striker in the past, could see Alcaraz as a false 9, he's decent in the air too, couldn't do any worse, could they?

2

16 Sep 2026 15:19:33
Or just keep the ball on the floor?

1

16 Sep 2026 15:24:32
At this point I would be willing to try anything, because Barry is so dam bad. I actually feel sorry for him, the guy has no idea how to play football. I honestly believe if he turned up for a try out for a League 2 team they would say no, we don't want you.

What's worse is one of our scouts watched him before we signed him, and actually signed him. One look, and you would run to your car and drive off very fast if you went to watch this guy.

Read a comment, extract the negative, have a dig, repeat.

16 Sep 2026 17:52:33
Keep the ball on the floor doesn't work either pass to Barry he can't control it ball goes through his legs or he falls over it can't do a one two with him because he has no idea how to pass it back to you play to his feet defender takes it off him so on the floor is no good either with this guy he can't run prob best to play with 10 players having him in the squad that's how bad he is.

So glad we dodged this bullet.
Broja subject to interest from Greece and United Arab Emirates.

Couple of very winnable games for us then a break for international footy. Hope we put out a strong side. Would like to see Dibling and Hackney start. Has to be a 2-0 tomorrow.

15 Sep 2026 15:35:31
Hackney should definitely start, GB.
Not too many changes, hopefully. I'd be keen to see George or Alcaraz in the 9 role.

2

15 Sep 2026 17:47:54
I would change the lot, keep everyone sharp. Doubt we will win the cup anyway, but we need to trust the whole squad.

15 Sep 2026 19:58:07
I would go with that, mate.

1

15 Sep 2026 20:28:59
Wolves have only just dropped down, so wouldn't take it too lightly, and head band is back there too. Dibbling defo has to start, if he doesn't, then crinkle face needs to give his a wobble.

16 Sep 2026 11:06:07
Will be interesting to see who he puts out as that will give us an insight into how seriously we are going to take the cups.

0

16 Sep 2026 13:08:16
Sorry, but for me, Dibbling should not be anywhere near the starting 11. If we are able to establish a commanding lead, then ok, last 20 minutes, see how he goes, but imo, a loan back to Southampton in January would be the way to go.

If he is able to recapture his precious form, then we can bring him back in, or seek to retrieve as much of the fee as possible.

Just seen a couple of lovely strikes from a kid called Nsangou, don't know how old he is, but took them well.

2

15 Sep 2026 08:21:06
He's 16 mate. Will be Premiership ready in 10 years.

2

15 Sep 2026 12:51:41
Yeah, without wanting to be too cynical, I don't think there's much point in getting excited about any youth prospects while DM is in charge. 😅

2

14 Sep 2026 20:40:34
Calvert Lewin worth a fortune now, playing exactly how Ancelotti had him playing.

14 Sep 2026 21:15:25
And hasn't been injured once for Leeds, mate.

0

15 Sep 2026 06:36:58
Some players suit certain clubs. I don't think he could handle the pressure at Everton. At Leeds they're used to going down, so expectations from the fans are different. Leeds are just happy to survive every season, whereas us Everton fans want success.

1

15 Sep 2026 08:23:23
No, he couldn't handle the hoof ball at Everton. What do we measure as success these days?

They actually play to his strengths. We had him chasing long balls and holding up play, even though his passing and retention is terrible - they have him getting in behind and constantly on the end of crosses - playing to his actual 2 strengths; speed and heading.

I live in Leeds, and the locals love him, but he's not developed into a superstar overnight - he's still the player who drove us all mad, but the difference is that they make him 5 chances and he scores 1. We made him none and he scored as many.

15 Sep 2026 10:53:56
There are a couple ED but the thing is I believe Away Days does attend games, which doesn't make sense judging by his constant negativity. I know you go as do I *less frequently now but that is down to being increasingly a KOS* and the game we watch is substantially different to what we watch on TV.

Mind you even then there is differing opinion just among the group I sit among but nothing like some of the stuff we see on here. Happy days 😜.

Dcl still banging in the goals tonight.

2

14 Sep 2026 20:49:15
Yep, many who couldn't wait to get rid, now we have Barry and he's knocking them in for fun.

14 Sep 2026 21:21:17
His time was done with us. He needed to move on and so did we.

3

14 Sep 2026 23:25:08
My lack of understanding centers around how he plays, week in, week out at Leeds, when we seemed unable to keep him fit for more than a few weeks at a time. Too late now for explanation, but the medical department at EFC seems to have a very poor record in keeping players fit and available, given how low we are on numbers.

All we can hope is that lessons have been learnt, but I have serious doubts.

1

16 Sep 2026 03:49:03
He couldn't wait to leave us, & arguably has dropped a level to play for Leeds.

The Seamus Coleman episode on Stick to Football is well worth a watch. It's on Disney+. What a legend, he speaks so honestly and passionately about the club and his time here.

0

14 Sep 2026 19:57:13
Really surprised they didn't offer him a position.

0

14 Sep 2026 20:59:23
As in a new contract to play, do you mean? The reason he left the club was that he wanted to keep playing, particularly for Ireland.

1

15 Sep 2026 07:52:56
They did offer him a position. He said very clearly he had options with the 1st team down through to the academy.

Chrs, Bunkbeds.

What's everyone's thoughts on the cup game, I no we want to put out our strongest team but it seems madness to keep playing the same players, only takes an couple injuries in certain areas and we are big do do, id rather we went with a weaker team and played the Fringe players, keep our best for the prem and hopefully hold out till Christmas and pray those that get the nod step up and get the result.

0

14 Sep 2026 15:56:58
I'd prefer a decent cup run as well, BP. You never know who you might draw each round. We could be lucky and draw weak opponents for a few more rounds. Try the Frings players out with the big guns on the bench if needed.

1

14 Sep 2026 16:27:59
Not sure we know what our strongest team is yet, as some of our fringe players have hardly had a look in since the season started.

0

14 Sep 2026 16:35:36
With a limited squad, with some players needing minutes, we will go strongish anyway. Would like to see Dibbling and Graham get some game time.

4

15 Sep 2026 10:38:06
We should just play our strongest 11. We're not in Europe, so there's no reason the players can't handle three games a week. Top players do it all the time, most rack up 50 to 60 matches a season, and the likes of Neymar or Messi have hit 70.

Rotate one or two when it makes sense, mainly lack of form, take someone off early if they're blowing, but otherwise keep the team settled.
