What’s anyone’s take on the substitutes yesterday and the way they were introduced.
In particular when Young came on it was clearly mentioned it was his last home game for us and won’t be with us next season.
However nothing was mentioned when Keane or DCL came on.
I’m wondering if this is as they may have contract extensions offered but no decision has yet been made by them?
Any thoughts?
{Ed025's Note - i think their situation is in abeyance Dan, if we think we can get better for their positions at the right price then they will leave, but if not they will be given short term contracts until the right replacements can be identified mate, it cannot all be done in one window..

Definitely all can’t be done in one window.
Just thought it was interesting that Young not being with us next season was mentioned, however nothing about DCL or Keane and for that matter there was nothing said when Harrison came on.
Going to be an interesting summer for us.
Provided we’re stronger starting next season and make some decent recruitment I’m sure fans will get over any contract extensions given out.
{Ed025's Note - that may depend on who and how long the contracts may be Dan..

I'd imagine it's because a) nothing has been decided yet and/ or b) nothing has been announced yet.
I definitely want Keane gone. DCL, I'm not too fussed either way, I wouldn't be gutted if he stayed. Whereas I'd be devastated if Keane stays.

I would be seriously underwhelmed if both stayed Jase.
DCL should be quicker out the door than Keane imo. Especially the way the last year or so has gone.
As poor as I think Keane is, he is never a problem. He conducts himself well and tries his best, even if his best is nowhere near good enough.
Holgate, Keane, Doucoure and DCL should be out the door at the first opportunity. That would certainly make me feel like TFG are not for d***ing around and mean business.
{Ed025's Note - i would like to throw Harrison in there as well...literally.. :)

Think they included Young’s details of leaving as it had been officially announced Dan.
Like Ed said, they will be offered something if the money is right and we can’t get a replacement in. It’s worrying more than anything when you consider Harrison, Keane and Doucs might be offered extensions. I can’t see it myself. Coleman, DCL and Gueye I can see getting 12 months and us signing Alcaraz permanently but not the others. However, needs must. We’ll probably offer 5-6 extensions though not everyone will be happy.
Moving Young on is the right thing to do in my opinion. Forgot we had Holgate. Were West Brom relegated this season? I just assumed they were unless he didn’t play much.

Respected by footballers and. derided by fans. A few years back Rafa was reported to be interested and most didn't like the rumour then. I see a player who does the uglies really well but he's another 3 or 4 years older and I'm just not sure if he is the same player. Every manager seems to try to over look him at the earliest opportunity but like a cockroach, he always comes back and survives and even gets another contract. Different to what we have so hard to compare to either Doucoure or Gaye. Is he out of contract and available on a free? If so then probably a good signing.

Wonder if it’s another attempt by the club to figure out who’s leaking information.
Apparently the club want to be able to do their transfer business quietly this summer with it being such a pivotal moment for the club and want to stamp out any leaks.
The Ashley Young new contract was a prime example - was only told to a few people and it was straight out in the public domain.

can't all be done in one window, Young has proven this year he's great around the squad and depth option
can't spend well on every single position in one window and buy depth options on top of that
it's a squad option, not a starter.
the question you ask for me is the more adequate depth they have, the more room there is to spend on huge first 11 needs (ATTACK)

Tbh gents, I read this last night and pondered over this.
I actually don't mind if we keep him. It will be a short deal and he won't be on stupid money. The reason I think it would be good to keep him is that he will be good to have in the dressing room. He keeps standards high and by all accounts is extremely professional.
That being said, I don't want him to play any more than the last few mins of a game that has already been put to be, lower league cup games or as a last resort if we get splattered by injuries and lose 1st/ 2nd choice players in the respective position he fills in for.

Patterson going - if Branthwaite goes - O’Brien into centre back - leaves us with no right backs presuming Coleman retires
We have a very poor squad - if Keane goes we are left with only x2 centre backs (if Branthwaite goes) - so can see how young may have to stay.
That’s before we address left back, midfield and a striker 😂
8 incomings I reckon (mixture of signed and loans)

You can't get rid of 12 out of contract players in one go, also we can't afford to then bring in 12 players to cover the 12 that left, then add more players to the very small squad we have, some players need to be kept around and next year they can leave and we replace them then, small steps, not Huge mistakes like last time.

Depends on where you look Bluenose. Some places have him as always being on or around £120k; others say he started on £75k and went up to £120k in the last three years.
It bonkers what some players have been reported to be on. Holgate is the craziest I can think of but Keane is not far behind. Oh for the days we didn’t throw a kid of money away on players and pay off managers from their contracts. We weren’t falling foul of PSR pre covid so what happened afterwards for us to sell all our talent and still struggle.

Everton rumours are reporting Richie back on loan and Leeds are interested in Beto . Richie on loan makes sense and Beto to make way makes sense one wage for another especially if we sell Beto. I like Beto but he needs to be better in all areas of his game especially controlling the ball. Richie’s only worry is his fitness, which as I’ve said I think will improve when he’s happy. Crazy that fans are happy to sell our joint top scorer.
Appreciate that he’s not to everyone’s liking but he’s scored 7 goals the same as Ndiaye but in 1000 less minutes.
Our top scorer last season was DCL and Doucore with 7 and the season before it was McNeil with 7.
We need goals in the team and Beto brings that - in my opinion would be a poor decision to move him on, particularly to a league rival. Highly unlikely will find a better goalscorer for the rumoured fee being offered for him.

We also know yours dan but that's a silly comment to make really. One is a CF and the other has been utilised more on the wing. The . majority of fans, not just me, have a similar view on Beto and most would let him go this summer.
Leeds our rivals? If that's the case then we might as well give up! A yo-yo team at best, they will more than likely struggle next year whereas, if we spend right, we should be looking to progress from our previous premier league woes. By selling them beto, that gives us an advantage in my book. Having a 'rival' team take the dross off your hands is a win win situation.

I can't believe people want rid of beto. Given a full season he could be near 20 goals a season. I've noticed that he is much better when Alcaraz is on and even McNeil. Both can assist and McNeill can shoot from distance so it gives him more space.
People say he doesn't do enough, but when he's got the likes of douc and Harrison setting him up (or not setting him up) genuinely, what can you expect him to do? What could you expect of anyone?
I'm all for getting a better striker than Beto, but if we are going to keep any of the 4 we have, surely is has to be beto.
{Ed025's Note - as a back up i could work with that Chris, but for a main striker his first touch is awful mate and his hold up play needs a lot of work..

I get that Ed. But when we had Dom playing up front with a good touch and great hold up play but no goals, we were all saying how we would trade the touch and hold up play for goals. Now we have that. I agree that his hold up play isn't the best and needs to improve. But Beto's touch and hold up play is not why our Douc, Harrison, lindstrom etc don't score more. I'd just like to see us improve elsewhere before we go all out for a new striker and expect him to be the perfect all-rounder with utter dross behind him.
{Ed025's Note - we do need a better midfield Chris of course we do, its all about opinions i suppose mate but i just dont see Beto as the answer..

Gotta give Beto his dues. He works his socks off but sometimes he's further back than doucoure chasing doucoures attemp at controlling it ( touch like a pinball machine bumper) . When he's played through on goal though he has good pace, strength and will shoot. Keeper was at fault for his goal yesterday but if you don't shoot you'll never score. He could have a part to play for us next season, 1st team or as impact sub. But like I said earlier in post, 30 million is a lot to turn down.
