Alexander Sorloth transfer. We are being linked with this guy again. What do you reckon bluenose and optimum shots?

Last few seasons in Spain have been his most productive and he's been used plenty at Athletico Madrid. Did not do particularly well in the Prem for Palace. Suits the Moyes type striker, strong and powerful. Better than what we have perhaps, would hope we'd be signing two strikers if we go for him.

Just feel like we are going round in circles and looking desperate again, we've only really signed Hackney. We've lost Gueye and Grealish, so technically we are down.

Tbf Blue Dev, eve the mega rich sides like City and Arsenal take stock after buying players the club needs to access which players they can let go to not only get some cash flow going but also to free up the wage bill also.

Everton's interest in Alexander Sørloth is real. We've made enquiries, and there's been talk of a £25m+ move. But let's also be honest, the only reason we're even still in the conversation is because Juventus haven't agreed a fee with Atlético yet, even though Sørloth has already agreed personal terms with them. If Juve sort the fee, he's gone. If they don't, we're basically the backup option. But he also wasn't initially open to a move back to the Premier League.

And that's exactly why I'm not sold on this transfer.

Yes, Sørloth has improved massively since his failed Crystal Palace spell (1 goal in 20 games) . He's stronger, more experienced, and he's become a proper goalscorer in Spain. Fair play to him. But the reasons it didn't work for him at Palace are the same reasons it won't work for him at Everton.

Palace played slow transitions, left him isolated, gave him minimal support, and expected him to win duels and create chances on his own.
That is literally our system.

We don't have runners off the striker.
We don't play quick combinations.
We don't give the No.9 consistent service.
We boot the ball forward and hope the striker wins a header with someone arriving late for the second ball.

That's why Beto and Barry are struggling, they're being asked to do everything alone. And Sørloth would be asked to do the exact same job. He might do it slightly better, but we'd still be watching the same patterns, isolated striker, scraps of service, long balls, slow support, and a forward expected to make miracles out of chaos.

So £25m+ for a striker who'll probably score around 10–12 goals in this system?
I'm sorry, but that feels like another expensive sideways move.
Especially when Beto scored 9 last season in the same setup.

We'd basically be paying big money for a more polished version of what we already have, not someone who transforms our attack or gives us the 20+ goals we desperately need.

If we're spending £25–30m, let's spend it on someone who actually solves the problem, not just survives in it.

That's why I'd rather we go for Ayase Ueda instead.

He's a genuine goalscorer.
He's hit 20+ goals.
His movement is elite.
He finishes chances Beto and Barry never will.
He's the type of striker who adds goals, not just structure.

If we're putting big money down, let's put it on someone who can actually change games, not another striker who'll be isolated, overworked, and expected to do everything alone.

For me, Sørloth is a good player in Spain just not the right one for Everton.

Our recruitment team, could not receute monkey's to swing through tree's, they are stealing their wages.

AB, it's the first week in July, in the middle of a World Cup, and we have brought in 3 players already. It's a different recruitment team than we've had previously. Let's see how they do over the next few weeks before jumping to conclusions.

Morning, what’s people’s thoughts about Coleman training with Sheff Utd? Good luck to him.

3

10 Jul 2026 07:50:16
Why not, he's a free agent and so can play for whoever he wants. Good luck to the lad if that's what he wants to do.

He brings professionalism to another level. Everybody loves him. Good luck to him. Could be a future Everton manager in the making.

If he wants to play on, then fair play.
As they say, you're a long time retired in this game. Will he play? Well, if someone is prepared to take a chance and give him a contract, then fair play.

I'd personally like to see him accept the coaching role he was apparently offered a few months back. But, we won't be losing him to anyone else for long, and he will come home soon enough.

Excellent for him, true true Blue. Wish him all the very best.

Would have loved the bloke to take his badges.

Collina is either grossly incompetent, or perhaps something much worse, I don't know, but his observations in respect of the Egyptian game makes me wonder about this man's judgement, or just how much he is open to external influence. My feeling about this man remain as strong as ever, but if of course subscription and proof are to different things.

I've been questioning this since Villarreal.

Banned for two games FIFA on Quansah.

09 Jul 2026 18:50:45
Well it was a sending off. Come on Starmer grow a pair for once,

0

09 Jul 2026 19:28:30
If Starmer intervenes it will be for 6 games.

2

09 Jul 2026 20:23:14
How can we criticise Trump for phoning Infantino and then his (Infantinos) wholly unfair decision to suspend a ban for the USA player, then suggest Starmer does the same by"growing a pair"!? Why should we stoop to their level? Glad we're better than that.

It's banter, mate, loosen up.

10 Jul 2026 14:07:16
If England have any chance of winning, then Quansah needs banning for three games.

Training kit with Christopher Ward on the front looks good.

So £52.5 spent so far on Hackney, George and Rohl. Plenty of cash left, I would reckon, so another 3 or 4 in would be great. Bring it on.

3

09 Jul 2026 16:50:45
Well, if they sell McNeil, Alcaraz, and one of the forwards, that would get a big chunk of that back. Maybe that has to be the next move before anymore come in?

1

09 Jul 2026 19:29:53
Plenty of cash GB, really, who told you that?

1

09 Jul 2026 12:17:36
Reading that Dwight wants a move to London, straight swap for Bowen then.

5

09 Jul 2026 15:26:32
Now that would be a good bit of business.

09 Jul 2026 16:51:33
Now that's a rumour!

Without doubt, I want England to win the World Cup.
However the competition is a wash with corruption, sleze and comercial interests bringing our game into disrepute.
Hydration break's, to allow us TV advertising, political pressure trying to influence decision's, and attempts to keep the host nations in the competitions to keep up viewing figures.

But, and I truly regret, it is not just the World Cup, the treatment dishes out to Everton, Southhampton instant dismissal, and the attempt to maintain the monopoly of the so call big six, is truly an embarrassing disgrace. Thay did try to join the European Super League, destroy our domestic football, and only go a slap on the wrist.

09 Jul 2026 10:55:46
It was always going to happen as soon as the Commercial world realized that it was a money making racket. Then, very rich individuals got involved, followed by Government funded entities. Then, you have those that run the Institutions that govern and make the rules.

Their job is to maximize revenue, and it is pretty obvious that you do that by favoring the already rich clubs, or in the World Cup, the favorite countries.

09 Jul 2026 13:47:02
When something generates astronomical amounts of cash, it will always be open to corruption. Money talks and it also corrupts.

The inception of the Premier League shows how money has taken over football.

Before that came about, how much cheaper was it to go to games, buy food and a drink at the stadium and purchase a replica kit? I don't know the figures, but I'm guessing it didn't dent your pocket as much as it does today.

1

09 Jul 2026 16:53:12
It's all about the money, boys. Football is no longer a sport for the working man, it's a cash cow for owners, managers and players.

0

10 Jul 2026 19:47:23
If a working man wanted to take two kids to a match, it would cost him a week's wages. That's bloody crazy.

10 Jul 2026 22:39:47
It is, mate, the game has gone absolutely mad.

09 Jul 2026 09:17:56
Just read from the most vile corrupt referee in history. My take after his come out of retirement for Villarreal v Everton 2004 is that to make sure we did not qualify for the group stage. We all know why, because they wanted our neighbours in instead, drawing them TNS from Wales, and Collina, retiring again the next day, has now come out and said you cannot question the integrity of the FIFA match officials.

This is because of the outrage of the decisions given to Argentina v Egypt. Oh and by the way this snake is now head of officiating for FIFA. Just goes to show crime does pay.

5

09 Jul 2026 13:48:51
Did he not come out of retirement just to ref the 2nd leg? I remember at the time, after how bad the ref was at Goodison, that I was happy for Colina to be officiating the return game. How naive that was looking back!
