Reading that Anderson will sign for £116 million rising to £130 million with add ons to Man City from Forest, makes the Hackney deal with us at £20 million looks the like the interest charged. 😂😂
26 Jun 2026 13:17:03
So, City just continue to spend spend spend.
26 Jun 2026 13:53:14
Law unto themselves, mate.
26 Jun 2026 14:14:27
It does put it into perspective. 20-30 mill is the going rate for any young British talent.
26 Jun 2026 11:29:36
3rd bid for Hackney going in soon if anyone is bothered, lads. I hope we get him but i know a few on here aren't convinced.
26 Jun 2026 16:42:01
Wouldn't. After if you put Pele in his prime someone wouldn't want him, that's football fans.
26 Jun 2026 17:32:36
I am not against the signing. However, he is in the last year of his contract and reportedly favours a move to us, so we shouldn't pay over the odds. Let's face it, he would be coming in as a bench player/starter.
He isn't a 6, so you'd expect him to be playing in one of the front 2, and he isn't getting in over KDH or Garner. If Moyes puts Garner in the 6, then him with KDH would make sense, but I don't think that midfield worries the big teams.
He's good for his age and all, but guarantees a sell-on value. Lad looks a decent player, but the Championship may as well be a different sport to the PL in some aspects, and his numbers aren't exactly outrageous in a lower league.
Cameron Jerome was like Ronaldo in the Championship, and was more Mickael Madar in the PL.
I am not really fussed if we do or we don't really. It was a bit like when we signed Alcaraz. Saw enough of him at Saints and knew that he would give us a bit of depth (well when he first came in he did) , but I would rather us keep Garner and KDH further forward, sell Tim and get a decent CDM in there who does Gana's workload but can play a bit.
The dream would be the Dane, Hjulmand from Lisbon. He'd be upwards of 40m I think. No doubts that he would be worth it, but I think an Atletico Madrid move or something else is on the horizon for him.
Sano
Kone
Frendrup
Any one of them would do nicely, but we definitely need a 6.
I am one of Gana's biggest supporters, but he turns 37 a few games into the season and has just played a PL season, AFCON (final) , and a WC. I have watched their games this tournament, and he has looked miles off it. Odegaard got away from him when they played the other night, and he is far from pacey or powerful.
It's an athletes' league more than ever, and as good as he has been for us in his younger years, we should not be ruled by sentiment. Can't get away with a 37 year old with a lot of miles on the clock in the engine room.
25 Jun 2026 19:03:20
If Moyes has anything about himself, he has to tell the owners, if Garner, or any other top player is sold, he will resign, will he have that kind of integrity? I don't know, I would not put too much money on it.
25 Jun 2026 19:19:33
What happens then if Ndiaye moves on because he wants Champions League footy or any other player for that matter, mate?
{Ed025's Note - if players want to go then they will go GB, you can bet your life that some clubs will offer stupid money for the better players and there is nothing we can do about that, there is also the problem that players will look at the direction the club is going and if they think they will win more and get paid more and i suppose enjoy it more then its going to happen, we are not in a position at this time where we are a very lucrative destination for top players mate...and thats not going to change anytime soon, i know thats harsh..but its true im afraid..
25 Jun 2026 20:09:14
That's why we should be looking more at young, fast players looking to significantly improve their reputation. Yes, it's a risk, but playing the same older team with Moyes tactics will keep us safe, but will keep us mid-table for years to come.
If we lose players, which I believe is inevitable, they have to be replaced by better ones regardless of age, and by better I mean players who are fit enough to play 90 plus minutes, who are not constantly injured, who have talent, speed, football brains and self belief, and who will bleed blue.
Of course they have to play, not sit on the bench. These type of players have to be out there and I would rather us just get a few rather than a larger number of players who according to Moyes are only fit to sit on the bench.
25 Jun 2026 21:29:28
Resign because the owners sell a player that wants to leave? That wouldn't show he has anything about him at all.
26 Jun 2026 11:21:18
I'm by no means a Moyes supporter, but he has very little control when a player wants to leave. His job is to get another player who can replace the outgoing player.
So, let's say Ndiaye wants to move, and we get Bowen in, then Moyes has done his job, because we are potentially getting a better player as his goal scoring record is superior to Ndiaye's.
Where it would all go wrong would be if they sold Ndiaye and Moyes decided to play O'Brien on the wing instead of getting a proper winger. But that's not likely, is it?
{Ed025's Note - don’t bet against it Brass..
26 Jun 2026 13:24:16
Why on earth would a manager resign if the club sells one of their players? Especially in preseason transfer window.
26 Jun 2026 13:58:02
We are no different from, as we call the smaller clubs on here, the so called big teams just cherry pick the best players, and we then have to try to replace them with either solid old experienced players or unproven players hoping they come good. That's where we are, and I hate saying that. If the team played with the love and passion that us fans have, we would win everything.
Everton remind me of Scotland's best supporters, but only 1 or 2 really quality players, with a manager who doesn't throw caution to the wind and attack until the game is already over. Gonna be another frustrating window and season, I reckon. Hope I'm wrong.
{Ed025's Note - my worry is that you are not Ron..
26 Jun 2026 14:40:11
Well, not O'Brien, but he would find someone else. One thing about David is that he is very good at playing square pegs in round holes.
25 Jun 2026 12:41:36
Hearing now that concrete talks are now in place with West Ham over the signing of Jarrod Bowen, fee still to be agreed, Bowen is 1 of Moyes’ top targets alongside McTominay - but no contact made yet over the latter…Right back and new striker/s also high on the agenda, hoping to offload Barry this window to free up more squad space and money.
25 Jun 2026 15:48:19
Hope we get this one over the line, well chuffed.
25 Jun 2026 16:04:15
Talks going on with a few clubs, Bowen has choices.
26 Jun 2026 11:22:41
Danny Dyer. Everton? You're avin a giraffe, mate.
25 Jun 2026 12:16:57
Reading that the Tim to Hull move is off with Hull now looking elsewhere.
25 Jun 2026 15:13:33
They don't wanna pay £20 million for a player with 1 year left on his contract, so will probably sign Hackney from Boro lol.
24 Jun 2026 13:43:40
Leeds have agreed a four year deal for Harry Wilson.
24 Jun 2026 16:36:25
We will probably sign Gnonto then.
24 Jun 2026 17:13:18
We've been down this road before giving long contracts to players of a certain age. Would like to think we have learnt from that and can look to build a strong squad around players who can come into the team for the next three to five years.
24 Jun 2026 19:29:38
That's probably why we've stepped away, he would want big wages and a 4 year deal. Not sure he'd be on my list, Bowen will be the same but I'd take him on a 3 year deal, his output is better.
24 Jun 2026 20:20:50
Great move not getting Wilson. Was at Liverpool from early age, he wouldn't be any more use to us than Benitez was. Don't need players of his history.
24 Jun 2026 23:37:44
There's being loyal and there's posting nonsense.
24 Jun 2026 23:55:30
I'm with Bobby here. Money talks more than loyalty these days.
25 Jun 2026 11:40:25
What a great idea, no big contracts for 30-somethings, and I believed it for almost a minute, till I heard we are trying to recruit White from Arsenal, 29, more of a c/back than full back, and we will pay 30 mill, plus a big contract for a player who cannot get a first team slot at his club, in short a typical Everton deal.
25 Jun 2026 12:21:39
Some of these posts on here are mad.
Whilst I am not particularly fussed if we get White or not. The main concern should be - does he improve us - 100%. Is he proven in the PL - yes. Can he play CB and RB, which are two hugely problematic positions for us - yes.
He isn't even 29 yet. He has played 136 games for Arsenal at RB, who have finished in the top 2 of the PL for the last 3 or 4 seasons, with 47 games at CB. Hardly an alien position to him.
He also managed 6 goals and 13 assists in those games at RB, which are much better than what any of our full backs have put up for many years.
30m is nothing for a player of his calibre and experience, and we would have him for the next 3 to 4 seasons.
You make out he can't get a first team slot at an average team. They are the PL champions and the RB in front of him is easily in the top 3 in World Football.
25 Jun 2026 12:40:13
But much cheaper specialists right backs, and much younger. Saw him play right back end of last season, taken to the cleaner, saved only by his team mates.
26 Jun 2026 13:52:01
The Ben White rumour is a complete non starter. He's got a knee ligament injury. My mate is an Arsenal fan, and he said White is going to be out 'long-term'.
24 Jun 2026 13:33:42
In talks with Bowen, would be happy to snap him up.
{Ed025's Note - he would be great GB, but im not holding my breath just yet mate..
24 Jun 2026 15:36:33
If we started the season with Garner and KDH dropped back to an 8, Grealish on the left, Bowen on the right, Harrison or a new number 10, and a new number 9, I’d be very happy. Chuck in a couple of new full backs and we’d have a good team. Too much to ask?
24 Jun 2026 16:55:03
Not even remotely, JB. Other clubs would do it without any stress.
Not sure I like KDH and Garner as a two, though. We need an out and out 6 for me, mate.
24 Jun 2026 23:54:18
Bowen would be a good signing, but I think he'll stay with West Ham.
They might balance books selling other assets.
Really wonder who we will actually sign this window.
24 Jun 2026 12:43:27
Reading that George is going back to Chelsea, thought he was good when he played.
24 Jun 2026 13:44:56
Chelsea probably won't except our offer of £5m and some training cones.
24 Jun 2026 14:49:03
I liked the look of him too, GB. But, guess the thing is, Moyes is staying and George is young, so would it just be a waste of money? £20m out the budget for a player that will barely be given a look in!
24 Jun 2026 14:51:58
Pity the lad had a lot of potential and would have given us much needed pace.
24 Jun 2026 15:03:41
How come we aren't being paid £5m a year? This all seems so simple. Get a RB to play RB. Get some pace in the side, and buy players with a future sale profit.
24 Jun 2026 15:36:46
Thought he looked a very good player for his age.
24 Jun 2026 16:58:53
I am glad we aren't taking him tbh, lads.
Grealish was injured, freeing up both wings to play on, as he has covered both flanks many times for Chelsea, yet he still couldn't get in.
All well and good running at a tired fullback with 10 minutes to go, but when he started against teams, he was dreadful from what I watched.
That wrongen Jiminez for Bournemouth absolutely bullied him, and he is all of 5ft 6.
Whilst he may retain value due to age etc and get better, I think spunking 20 odd million on a player that won't even start is foolish, especially before we have spent on the areas that are actually in need of urgent attention.
23 Jun 2026 16:23:49
Anyone heard of anything happening with transfers, I really am surprised we haven't got a right back in by now, we've only been searching for one for 2 years, surely they know who they want.
23 Jun 2026 17:30:01
Perhaps they're just saving on wages. I mean why pay a player huge amounts of money when he's on holiday. 🤷♂️
23 Jun 2026 21:18:39
So he can integrate with new team members and be ready for opening games perhaps.
23 Jun 2026 22:29:32
But they're all on holiday!
24 Jun 2026 00:27:57
Don't try and use common sense to persuade posters, BMD.
24 Jun 2026 07:16:42
Well we've been using a centre back in that area for a full season, so I think we've saved enough money in wages by now. I think the point of the OP, as I read it, is that you'd think an area where we put square pegs into round holes would have been addressed in such a way that a player would have been lined up ready by the time the window opens.
Finding the right player is never easy, but when you have a pressing need, like we clearly have had since Coleman started to decline, I'd expect a result by now!
24 Jun 2026 07:37:13
Is the centre back playing for nothing? We also have a full back sitting on the bench. So the main reason we have square pegs in round holes is the manager. Now, plenty might not like Patterson, but he would not have done any worse than O'Brien, who clearly struggled in that position.
The same could be said for Aznou. Micky hasn't had the best of seasons, yet still the lad hasn't had a look in.
KDH has stated in the past that he prefers to play a deeper role, yet Alcaraz or Dibling (who Southampton fans will tell you it's his best position) don't get a look in.
If your face doesn't fit with this manager then he will continue with the squar pegs theme next season, regardless if we get a right back or not.
24 Jun 2026 13:28:58
Totally agree, AD, I have said on here before that once Patterson seemed fit towards the end of the season, why not bring him in as the only proper RB we have and move O'Brien into the middle instead of Keane or Tarkowski.
24 Jun 2026 14:26:56
AD, I'm with you on the Moyes debate. My point is, and of course they all get paid, that it's not a wages issue that no one has been signed yet, but yet again we seem to procrastinate to a dangerous degree when we put someone like O'Brien out on the right. We should have dealt with this issue long back when not one but three managers didn't fancy Patterson out there.
Could be because he was injured, I don't know? But it's an issue that's lasted a few seasons now and that's plenty of time to sort out any wages issue I'm guessing.
