With all the speculation with players now being linked to us, which player are you most looking forward to seeing play. at the world cup.

{Ed025's Note - any one linked to us simon..

Being a southerner from an old scouse family, i'm surprised you are watching the WC.
Normally the epicentre of anti England support. I've never got that by the way.

I’m watching Siggy. I’m eager to see if he is free from injury.

Myteamsbetterthanyours I have no idea where you got that from, I'm way down in Cornwall and there's a big following of England in the world cup, every pub has it on and will be packed to the rafters, we might not have the football teams down here like you lucky buggers up there, but we love our football.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its really a north south divide simon, southerners have all the bunting and union jack,s up in the pubs and they revel in the national euphoria, up this end not so much it seems, but how much of that is political i dont know mate..

03 Jun 2018 22:21:10
Ed 25 i watch world cup think lozano be break out player so would like sign him alsov think panmara will beat us in world cup like Iceland euroes think they want it more as most players want to showcase themselves to get move.

We are saying the same thing Simon.
Have a quick 're read of my post.
I'm a southerner and I know lots of Scousers family and friends who have an anti national team stance. I've also seen it mentioned over the years on fan groups when the big tournaments come around. I just think its weird.

I don't think its anti England more the case of can't be bothered to watch the over paid under performers in the England click. Can't think of the last England team that went to a tournament with players in form and not just selected on experience and past glories. To be fair to Southgate he looks to have picked most of the squad based on form not personalities, so I am looking forward to see how they get on. We may surprise a few as long as we don't get any penalty shoot outs that is.

Maybe it’s a bit like the royal family. We never see them outside of London, so we have little interest in them. Hadrian’s Wall was probably built 200 miles further north than what was originally intended.

It's certainly a Liverpool thing.
The city has always had a bit of a complex on such things.

Why on sky rumours other fans don't know much about Everton's history we have never played football outside the top tier that is a huge accomplishment that's why evertonians are born not manufactured.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

03 Jun 2018 13:42:40
Thats wrong. We have played in the 2nd division.

Arsenal have only ever played top flight but we've played more top flight games than any other club.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2018 15:21:19
That's also incorrect arsenal were in the second division finishing 5th in 1915 but that was enough for them to be promoted and since then they have been ever present I'm sure I have read somewhere that it was to do with the war that led to there promotion but I can't clearly recall it at the min.

I think the stat is Arsenal are the longest serving in England’s top flight and we are second longest
That’s what I recall reading a long while ago, around the time it was under threat from Mike Walker.

03 Jun 2018 15:58:09
True, relegated 1913. No English team has been in the top flight for their entire history.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2018 16:44:41
I was under the impression that Arsenal were elected into the top flight and have stayed there ever since therefore never dropping out whils Everton have spent the most seasons in top flight due to having a longer history as founder members of the football league.

In a nutshell both clubs hold records for differing stats.

I think the war plays a part in our history too.
I believe we were the last champions of England when we packed away the sport for the duration of the war.

Im Sure I read that as we presided over the title, we have been champions for 18 years? Obviously only winning the top flight 9 times.

I should probably Google my claim before posting but sod it. You can correct me.

I think it was both wars. we seem to even have Hitler and the Nazis trying to stop us!

I'm really excited about this new outlook with Brands and Silva, I won't get carried away but at least there will be an identity about how we want to play even if we don't get of to a great start at least we can start to see a direction in how we want to play and with no Europe and not many away on World Cup it can only be good for pre season.

I see bayern are supposed to be keeping an eye on Pickford in the word cup as one of there replacements for ageing neuer.

They wouldn't be able to afford him.
I think its a little mischief making by the Germans pre WC.
Massive compliment. But total nonsense.

The story also originated from that rag of which we do not speak. So I wouldn’t give it much credence.

I also can’t see him going to Bayern to be their No.2.

Not going to happen they could not get round ffp as would cost 100m when you take everything into consideration Everton bought him for the next 8-10 years which is why I don’t understand why when we bought him all pundits were questioning price I thought it was a Bargain.

I have to say my "negativity" also revolves around the fact that some people seem to forget we could lose some players that we want to hold on to. never mind not getting others that we would like. Some on lucrative contracts might be difficukt to "get rid of" . as some people put it. The whole transfer thing is a minefield and we will need a big slice of luck to get things in place as we would like. look at the window before last. it was a disaster! let's hope we have a better one than that!

The pragmatic business should be the defence. That's been neglected for far too long. Obviously all over the park we can debate the merits of new blood but our defence is creaking under the lack of attention in the last few years. It's true that the majority is still Ems backline.

Eds am I right to say that only pickford and siggi are going to the world cup from the club if so with pickford as keeper it will give the whole 1st team the time to get to know the new system the new coach has in mind to be able to be geared up for the new season no excuses for the players to say new system syndrome here at lest 6/ 8 weeks of practise to make perfect what's your views.

Always have to think of the man and hope he gets awell. But don't kid ourselves that we'd get any money in. He must be removed from the playing staff this summer.

Give him to Swansea with some money and get Mawson.

'always tries his best' no he doesn't he's had his head up his a** all season and got sent off on purpose away at burnley because he was that not bothered and playing woefully, wish him his health but never want to see him in blue again an absolute disgrace.
