I know the talk at this stage is more around players we are looking to get rid of but do any of the Eds know of any players that we have concrete interest in?

CToffee

{Ed001's Note - I know there were a couple of players in Dutch football Brands was keen on before joining Everton, I can tell you them but there is no guarantee he would see them as being good enough for Everton. Van de Beek, Jahanbakhsh (I hope I spelt that right, he is playing for Iran in the World Cup anyway so you can check my spelling!), Vilhena and Frenkie de Jong.}

1.) 18 Jun 2018 16:04:22
I worry about players coming from Holland just look how hard Klassen has found the premier league.
Dutch football was great many years ago but not these days it is in sad decline like Scottish football. Once we got players fom Scotland but rarely now, this is why I am worried about the appointment of Brants.

2.) 18 Jun 2018 16:15:52
Great thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. There are a few other players I would think, based on my opinions of their ability, that he might look to now he has Everton to recruit for. Obviously he is not going to be able to cherry pick the best talent from Ajax while he was there, but now he can potentially move for them.}

3.) 18 Jun 2018 18:47:16
Matthijs De Ligt is on brands list but Ajax will slap hefty price tag on him.

4.) 18 Jun 2018 22:20:06
Give them Klaassen back, that would bring the price down some.

5.) 19 Jun 2018 14:02:18
I don't get why everyone is so harsh on Klaassen, he has never been given a proper chance. I hope he gets his chance and plays well.

06 Jan 2018 20:16:57
Mirallas off to Olympiakos. His departure has been a long time coming.

CToffee

1.) 06 Jan 2018 20:43:45
How much is the transfer fee?

2.) 06 Jan 2018 20:53:51
Apparently 4 million or thereabout.

With the search for a new manager underway would any of the Ed’s be able to provide some insight into how clubs would typically go about this process?

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - Clubs will often seek advice from third parties, sometimes they advertise and they will eventually turn up with a shortlist. The next move would be to approach the agents of the people they are keen on, and if employed, their clubs. If allowed by the clubs concerned, they will be given permission to talk with the person concerned.}

1.) 24 Oct 2017 12:35:47
Ed 002. I’m not a betting man so don’t care much for what the odds say. So would you know if Thomas Tuchel is a realistic target or is he in all probability going to BM shortly.

{Ed002's Note - No I would not see him as a realistic target and he has no agreement with BM.

2.) 24 Oct 2017 13:35:38
Sky sports are reporting he’s open to the Everton job.

3.) 24 Oct 2017 13:58:48
Thanks Ed 002.

4.) 24 Oct 2017 15:03:18
Good insight into how it's done ED002

Thank you.

5.) 24 Oct 2017 15:44:49
Thanks Ed. Appreciate the insight (as always) .

Do any of the eds have any information on potential out goings from the club?

I know the squad has been trimmed down a lot with a lot of squad players leaving (e. g. Cleverly, Kone, Gibson, Oviedo, Geri) but I was wondering where all these new faces would fit in.

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - I still expect Lukaku and, as long as he is not priced out of a move, Barkley to leave.}

1.) 05 Jul 2017 09:50:09
What do you think is a fair price for Barkley Ed.

{Ed002's Note - I really have no interest in discussing moiney as it is not simply the transfer fee Murf.}

2.) 05 Jul 2017 09:53:27
ok Ed no probs.

3.) 05 Jul 2017 11:47:32
McCarthy, besic? Lennon?

4.) 05 Jul 2017 11:00:10
Thanks ed. I've basically been working on the assumption that Lukaku leaving is a matter of when and not if and that Barkley is likely to leave.

{Ed002's Note - I think so CT.}

5.) 05 Jul 2017 12:03:37
None of the unwanted players are going to leave until Moyes has a new job, let's all wish him a speedy return to club football.

{Ed025's Note - love it smit..

14 Jun 2017 21:37:40
I know we had been linked with William Jose in the past. Do any of the Eds know if we are still interested or if that interest has gone quiet following the move for Sandro?

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - It appears to have gone.}

1.) 15 Jun 2017 07:25:30
Thanks Ed.

Does anyone know what the progress is with McCarthy’s recovery and when he is expected back? I’m guessing he would have been moved on this summer if he was fit.

CToffee

1.) 22 Jun 2018 09:57:56
Depends if we sell Schneiderlin. If he goes we will need him to sit in front of the back 4. Gana is more of a wanderer, all be it an effective one.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 10:28:34
I feel like he is a different type of player to Schneiderlin though. McCarthy is more of a ball winner and has a more limited range of passing than Schneiderlin. If anything I feel like McCarthy and Gana are maybe too similar to be in the same team (loads of press but not much else) . Schneiderlin seems to operate more in the Barry mold of sitting deeper.

3.) 22 Jun 2018 10:32:41
McCarthy if he stays fit could be a good fit for Silvas style/ system.

4.) 22 Jun 2018 10:55:22
jmac is are best cm when fit.

5.) 22 Jun 2018 12:50:58
I'm almost there with you Johny.
McCarthy definitely is better with his distribution and always looks good when he plays for us. The downside is he rarely plays.

So Watford have officially complained about Everton tapping up a manager they sacked 6 months ago.

CToffee

1.) 15 May 2018 23:30:29
They haven't officially sacked him. He was on a sort of gardening leave and still is I think.

2.) 16 May 2018 06:23:14
Surely though Smit666 the fact that Watford have a new manager and not a caretaker or interim means that Silva will not be returning to his previous role and is therefore available, could be wrong as we don't know the ins and outs of payments etc, if he is still on their payroll and has a contract then yes but if his payments are just part of a severence then there is no employment contract. I think the tapping up complaint is regarding the original issue when we offered £12m in compensation as according to reports both clubs have been in mediation for the past 4 months trying to resolve the issue.

3.) 16 May 2018 06:54:11
As far as I understood Watford aren’t paying him out the rest of his contract so Silva is in a legal battle with them to get his remaining pay.

4.) 16 May 2018 07:20:19
and that will be what Watford want we will pay his contract up.

5.) 16 May 2018 09:38:10
Meanwhile, as always with any legal wrangling, it’s the lawyers who almost never miss out on a big fat fee.

6.) 16 May 2018 10:11:23
Sounds messy.

7.) 16 May 2018 11:07:52
Its actually ‘Messi’.

26 Nov 2017 16:50:59
How is everyone feeling about the championship next year?

CToffee

1.) 26 Nov 2017 17:06:24
Well Cardiff, Villa, Wolves, Reading, Bristol City all not far from me. Just need the "AA Guide To Championship Grounds" for xmas. hope not.

22 Nov 2017 22:26:46
Ah Everton hey? What does it all mean? Where is it all going?

CToffee

1.) 23 Nov 2017 11:01:12
it's all going down the pan mate.

2.) 23 Nov 2017 15:29:26
Confused, not sure who is in charge on the board get the feeling BK wants money to be invested but still wants to run his club. Also what is Walsh doing and what is his influence, seems to have pushed for shakespeare and Allydyce. old boy network.

21 Aug 2017 23:03:16
So I unfortunately didn't get to watch the game. Were we good value for the draw?

Yeah Man Utd got in a former player but he at least has management experience (albeit outside of the premier league) . To be honest UTD could have have got anyone in to replace JM.

The problem there was that the players downed tools on the manager. They still have some world class players in the squad and the squad is largely from 2 managers. Our players haven’t downed tools. We have a squad made up of players from 4 different managers.

So we switch out the manger for former player and then what? We still have the same Frankenstein squad which is now being run by someone who probably has no real clue but the fans like him because he gets the club. The fans keep liking him until he loses a bunch of games on the spin say in a year. Then we’re calling for his head. Let’s then replace him with someone else. Eventually doing this constantly will see us going the way of Villa.

Apparently we should just get a bunch of former players who have minimal management experience to take over.

So two players that cost us 25 and 27 million respectively will be sold for 10 million each? Sounds like good business to me.

So you’re not saying change the manager but that he shouldn’t be there in the first place and now that he is there he shouldn’t be there anymore? So. you want a different manager?

We should just sack him and keep sacking every manager until we get one who has a 100% win rate. As soon as that drops, sack him too.

I know Silva is not doing well but getting in Arteta (who has never actually managed a team) along with Cahill (also no management experience) and Dunc (part of the backroom staff of 3/ 4 previous failed managers) is not going to solve problems. It’s the same thing Monaco tried to do by bringing in Henry because he “got the club”. Look how well that worked out for them.

Agree with Ed. Rather not buy anyone if they would only be a short term solution to the summer. Our season is basically over and we’re stuck in mid table so rather spend sometime trimming the squad of average/ poor fringe players.

Seems like Siggie could use a rest. I’ve never seen a player lose the ball as much as he has over the last few games.

I used to check out both the rumor and banter pages for this forum quite a lot. Over the past few months though I find that I sadly visit and comment less and less. My impression is that views have gotten a little extreme and the overall mood ranges anywhere between deludedly optimistic to incredibly toxic. I’m not begrudging anyone their views of course but it just seems there has to be some kind of middle ground. We’re all supporters of the same club and while there is no right or wrong way to do that there at least has to be a way of engaging with a view that differs from your own and an ability to process that and respond to it in a grown up way. Hopefully that comes back at some stage.
