Talk of Koeman about to resign.

Cookie78

1.) 03 Oct 2017 23:52:12
Of course and then Luvvy Bill will pursued him to stay and nothing will change. I don't believe anything will happen for now.

2.) 04 Oct 2017 06:33:19
Can't c him resigning not with how much he would lose in compensation.

3.) 04 Oct 2017 12:12:47
I'm with James2134 on this. He may resign for all I know but I can't see it happening.

Koeman is stubborn. He doesn't give in easily. Its within his own interest to make things work at Everton.

If he leaves now what will it do for him? Will he get many offers in management?

I'd very much doubt it. His reputation is being battered at the moment. It will make it worse if he walks away.

Yes he probably is unhappy with the way things are going and also probably sulking. Still I think he is clever enough to know the best way or damn near the only way out for him is to turn things around at Everton. If he does that he will manage anywhere. If he doesn't or leaves now his reputation of a manager will be severely dented and he will find it very difficult to recover from it.

Rumours on the net Rooney close to agreeing to return to Everton in Summer. £150k a week possibly a free transfer.

Cookie78

1.) 21 Mar 2017 21:34:22
All I can say is this, if we are prepared to offer 150k per week to a 31 year old striker who's best days are clearly in the rear view mirror, then surely a prime Lukaku ar 23 and scoring 20+ goals must be worth 200k a week, Rooney is finished, we need to look to the future, Barkley and Rom should be the big earners, not a twilight wayne Rooney.

2.) 22 Mar 2017 00:17:08
I think there are pros and cons to him coming back tbh.

His name alone, will elevate us as a club. It will make bigger names more inclined to buy into what we are trying to achieve and what direction we are going.

Lukaku has already stated in the past he would love to play with Rooney.

He has also stated of our lack of ambition in the transfer window. Maybe this will go some way to proving him wrong.

If Rooney can discover even half the form he was in a few years back. I would take him all day. If he gets his hunger/ desire back and wants to repay us as fans, he will be responsible (goals/ assists) for at least 20 goals a season minimum.

If the rumours are true that we can get him on a free, i think it is definitely worth the gamble. Clear McGeady, Kone, Jags etc off the wage bill and the 150k won't be as hard to stomach.

3.) 22 Mar 2017 06:17:37
There's not many other times you'll get a record England and Manchester United goalscorer on a free transfer (if that is to be believed) so I say enjoy it, he's not in his prime but his skill is undeniable and he's still 100% a first teamer for us. Increased squad depth with Europe potentially on the horizon can't be a bad thing.

4.) 22 Mar 2017 07:08:11
You can pay Barkley and Lukaku what they want but if they don't want to sign, then they won't sign, Get the money for both of them and go get a first class striker along with Rooney, remember once a blue always a blue.

5.) 22 Mar 2017 09:56:18
Forget about Rooney history etc, but where would he figure in our current set up? Genuine question not after any bites or whatever. Playing one up top, would he play instead if Rom (I don't see it) Would he play just behind instead of Ross. Not for me. That us if course we manage to keep both. Therefore would he be a sub for supposedly 150k a week? I understand his professionalism, experience and other things as well as showing our 'ambition' may help, even his ability would help somewhere but as to signing him as a player, even on a free, I struggle to see where he would feature.

{Ed025's Note - im with you kingo, of course if he were to pull on that blue shirt again he would have my undying support but i feel it is a time to look forward not back mate..

6.) 22 Mar 2017 09:53:54
The flip side to that is Rooney might want to play for us.

7.) 22 Mar 2017 10:08:59
I honestly thought Rooney was finished, he said he would only ever play for everton fc or man utd. Itching if we come knocking in the summer, he would be here in a flash. he seemed stale at man united for the past couple of seasons.

New lease of life at a club he adores, may get him firing again for maybe two seasons. Id also follow up on other targets. for some reason I'd like us to have a punt on the Cypriot striker.

8.) 22 Mar 2017 12:51:07
For me we need TWO quality strikers at least! Especially if we are in the Europa League as well. Lukaku AND Rooney. Rotate. It gives you the option to rest each of them when they need to. Or play them together when it sits. No brainer for me. And IF Lukaku goes then get another TOP striker to replace him AS WELL. A good couple of yrs from Rooney will give Calvert Lewin or whoever we sign time to develop.

9.) 22 Mar 2017 17:51:41
Formbyjules. If you play them together, who do you drop then? Just intrigued to see other blues point of view.

10.) 22 Mar 2017 19:33:38
He will get goals and regardless of whether lukaku stays or goes we need more goals from our forwards.

11.) 23 Mar 2017 12:17:52
Kingo78 - if RK wants them all then that is his decision - he is a far better manager than I. But I would suggest Everton need the very best players they can get and that includes the squad not just the first XI. We are doing that by getting rid of the deadwood and improving the quality of the squad. RK will then find a system to fit them and decided as and when to rest and rotate them.

12.) 23 Mar 2017 13:23:27
Rooney's return would increase our chances of signing top class players. He is held in high regard amongst the worlds elite young players. He for me is a great business decision if we can land him. We are more attractive, Plus the derby's will be so much better having lads like Barks Davies Rooney they no how much we want to beat the reds.

Lookman signed picture in Everton shirt on bbc website. Good potential who may surprise teams with speed second half of season.

Just remembering back at AGM time when Moshiri said he was the one who identified Tosun when he saw Monaco-Besiktas? If so shows major flaws in our system and questions Walsh role as talent spotter.

Identify player - make offer - get offer accepted - pass medicial - agree terms. Everton showing if the player is right and wants to join then they are capable of doing transfers. Maybe they have done every mistake now or it's players/ agents which are/ were the issue previously. Well done Board on this occasion.

Just in the interest of Balance is there anyone who want him to stay - thumbs up for stay or down to go now. I can guess the outcome. I am thumbs down.

I'm surprised at the closeness of the vote. Very interesting.

{Ed025's Note - a lot of them are probably liverpool supporters who are desperate for him to stay coyb.. :)

They won't sack him 18month contract which means here next season unless messes up. On paper got us challenging for 7th from relegation battle. What reasonable grounds have they got to sack him? I do agree not I am not comfortable with football and EFC principles being compromised and would prefer someone else.

Put alongside Atlanta and Villa away in 89 as one of most depressing performance I've seen. Worst still like all of you saw the team and knew it was going to happen.
