Watching Brighton verses City and one of the commentators asked "where do Brighton keep finding these talented players"? Good question, we have had Walsh, Brands and Thelwell and who have they found? Complete waste of time.

We snapped up Lee Sargeson from Brighton earlier this year to transform our player recruitment so fingers crossed we start finding some of our own gems ??.

A lot has been said about how well run Brighton are and their scouting abilities, but, umm. at some point in their near past they obviously considered Neal Maupay to be a Premier League striker.

Just sayin' ?.

Well they got rid of him. Brighton have just qualified for Europe and we are fighting for survival, again. Just saying!
We have been terrible at recruitment for years and we need to change drastically. We are not going to be able to recruit the best players and paying over the odds and paying ridiculously high wages to mediocre players has proven not to be the way forward. We need to have a good scouting team globally and pick up young talent who can help us in the short team and if necessary we can sell for a profit in the future.

Maupay? A lot if not most of the players we have are incredibly poor and there is no excuse.
Generally speaking Brighton is just one of several examples we can use in the PL and beyond . . . Any club seriously looking at squad management in terms of what to keep and what to let go, would I am sure point to Everton and say 'Thats not the way to do it'

Regardless of any exceptions to the rule, the widely shared opinion is that they scour and recruit incredibly effectively. Buy low, sell high. Not rocket science. I could have signed and sold 10 players for profit just based on football manager stats that would have been more effective than our strategy over the last decade. We’ve got it so so wrong.

Brighton's technical director is a Mr David Weir, now were have I heard that name before.
Always the last to spot talent even when its been on our doorstep!

Glory Days don’t let Bill Kenwright hear you say that - he’s obsessed with trying to convince everyone that all clubs look at Everton as a way of doing things!

The guy is unfortunately so out of touch with the club and the fan base it’s sad to see as he was our saviour once - however that was a long time ago and now he’s part of our demise!

The only reason clubs look at Everton now is to see how not to do things as well as offering them their cast offs for ridiculous fees - sad state of affairs.

Hopefully we win on Sunday and it’s a clean slate for the club going forward with a big clear out from top to bottom.

Brands was wasted bluemike. We messed up big time with him.

Out problem is we sign someone, they have a great/ good 1st season, bigger clubs come calling and we sell because our board are nitwits and have us broke. I saw a report saying we got nothing for transfers this summer. If so we be selling our best players again and keeping the tosh. Another season of struggle if we stay up.

Well Dan, if he wants to discuss this in depth with me, he won't like my language or consultancy fees as he isn't the only cowboy in town mate ??? ?.

We are saying all this about a team who have had a couple of good seasons, if they had all these gems consistently they would of been where they are now all the time, we on the other hand have gone the other way, under Moyes we had plenty of gems from lower leagues, every team has its day and at the moment Brighton are.

Brands should shoulder some blame. He brought in over twenty players during his stint, to the tune of 300m. How much of that chunk was wasted? Brands might have had his hands tied at certain points but he still did a bad job with what he did recruit. I'm judging him on the state of the squad now, that 300m could have bought us a much better team with a bit of squad depth. Whichever way we spin it, the last seven or eight years have been a total disaster and I can't wait for this season to be over, possibly with FM and the rest of the board on their way out. With these clowns running the show we will never progress. Let's just hope that, if we do get a new owner, we are still a premier league club. COYFB.

I don’t think it matters if we had Brightons
Set up moshiri and whoever aren’t allowing people to do their job roles with freedom and that’s where i think the problem lies. Hopefully changes are coming and the right people can go and perform there jobs to the highest possible standard without interference.

Weir hasn't even been in the post 12 months yet so can't take all the plaudits.
Remember we saw this with Leicester and Walsh and look where they are now.
Southampton the same.
Unfortunately selling your best talents eventually catches up with you.

Brighton are an excellently run club. They have been since Tony Bloom bought them. Its clever recruitment and they get the deals done quickly it seems. Reckon they will only lose Mac Alistair this summer, and already hot Milner, J Pedro and a midfielder from BVB.
