This can only happen to us, what idiots work at Goodison?

"Everton removed T-shirts from their online store after supporters noticed that the main image was Liverpool's Kop".

Just wanna say although the football we play atm is not the best, big Sam has managed the 5th most premier league games being Wenger, Fergie, redknapp and moyes so hopefully he can bring players in and adapt our football to be more expansive.

See tosun scored for besiktas in the cup tonight. Rumour of him waving to the crowd as if saying goodbye. Heard other rumours of him already having completed a medical and deal almost done. Thought he was more of a midfielder myself from what I seen of him in champs league but I'll support him as I do anyone who pulls the shirt on, if he signs.

28 Dec 2017 22:36:39
Yeah he waved goodbye to the fans and all sorts today.

Turkish club now saying there is no deal, we have been here before with turkish sides, why are they such a pain in the ass to deal with?
eds can you throw any light on the situation?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any agreement - but there have been offers.}

How can they announce the signing of Dick van dyke and show a pic with their shirt when the window is NOT open yet?

I see we had a new player some guy called Bolasie looks quite quick on the wing! šŸ˜‰
Also might be another lad joining the first team soon, think his name was Seamus

Well they might not actually be new but will feel like two new players šŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ.

I think a fair assessment would be results have improved our defending has vastly improved our attacking play isnā€™t great but that will improve with a few offensive additions and our injured players coming back at least weā€™re not leaking goals and getting hammered a brighter new year for us happy new year fellow blues.

A question for any of the Ed's.

Why don't we play teams in the second half of the season in the same order as we do for the first half?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't actually know the answer to that, sorry.}

28 Dec 2017 18:27:19
Nah we dont. Played Stoke first game and playing Bournemouth next.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 18:29:55
There are always lots of dates when teams are unable to play at home due to other events happeing in their area so it would be impossible to schefule everyone to play in the same order twice. The fixture organisers are given all the dates month in advance in order to profuce the fixture list for all the leagues and no club gets precedence over anyy other large or small.

Looking like that tosun fella is joining. don't know much about him but seems like he's highly rated.
Id like us to go for dembele from Celtic and i'd take a pint on shaw for the right price.
Sell mirrales, besic, mccarthy. Poss loan sandro and klassen to a prem league club to accustomize. Bring in garbutt and i'd be happy. don't think we need another mass of players join this window.

So Liverpool have certainly made a splash by signing Van Dijk, a very decent player but vastly overpriced imo.
I find this huge increase in player values to be worrying. If Van Dijk is 75m then what would it take to land, say, Varane?
Defenders are typically cheaper than midfielders, who are cheaper than forwards, so what prices are we looking at come summer for a top class striker? Imagine if we held on to Lukaku for one more season what price tag he'd have fetched now.
I think the market HAS to go back down else nobody can afford to buy players anymore. At this rate, a huge summer transfer budget of 250 million is only going to get you 2 or 3 players and most clubs simply cannot afford to do that year upon year.
Can we expect transfer fees to keep on rising or is it likely something will be implemented/ agreed to take values back down to the norm?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You are talking about a handful of players changing hands between a clubs at the very high prices. Aside from that prices will remain within reach. Remember the PL clubs have far higher income than their counterparts elsewhere.}

29 Dec 2017 08:46:54
The huge money came in with the latest tv money deal. Premier League is shown in just about every hotel in the world. Every time a new deal is negotiated, another huge some of money is shared between clubs. So silly fees such as Van Dijk's or even our own Sigurdsson come out of the fact that the huge sums are available to spend. In a competitive situation, money talks!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right degs..

28 Dec 2017 13:34:44
I think we could do with quality left back. Possibly Luke Shaw. Long term replacement for Baines. I think Garbutt Browning Galloway are not up to scratch - seen lots of Galloway and Browning this season - very poor - only Gibson playing well out of all ex - Everton players.

I hope Dowell gets in team next year so won't be upset if we make some room in midfield - klasson, Marrales and Barkley could go for me. Hopefully that will give lookman a bit of a run.

Message to all the Sam Allergy knockers. some quotes from him after the West Brom game: 8 games before he arrived we conceded 28 goals. 8 games since we have conceded 2 goals. He says he is concerned about our lack of possession and that players are told which areas to play the ball in but as yet we are still giving it away. Our possession against WBA should have been better. Players have to accept that responsibility to try and retain possession and not win the ball only to give it away again. But we must not knock the resilience of these young players. Especially considering the injuries, suspensions and illness that caused a change in shape and formation of the team. Increasing possession is a priority but remember how many young lads we had out on the pitch. Kenny is top drawer. these were all made after the WBA game. To me they are not the words of a manager who wants to play hoof it football. It is a manager who understands that the team he is picking is not his first choice and with all the problems of injuries, illness and suspensions (not forgetting lack of form in a few too) is still managing to find a way through. But he is certainly not instructing the players to go and play long balls to Calvert Lewin. That is because the players are either not listening to him or are reacting to situations because of lack of experience. With 6 players in under 23's age that is not surprising to me.

Best post I have read on here for ages mate, never a true word spoken, some posters on here have to get real there is a no quick fix solution, Big Sam has come in, and even the moaniest Everton fan can't say he hasn't done a bad job stats say otherwise by the way, he has been nothing short of Brilliant for Everton and long may it continue, we don't want to go back to the RK or RM era do we, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

28 Dec 2017 15:57:40
We do want to go back to playing football though you two.

He's done a good job of sorting the defence but as a lot of people are saying he has to make us more attacking which he hasn't done so far.

He needs to show everyone that he can make an exciting attacking team that can have more than 1 shot on target in 180 minutes. Its how you win games!

28 Dec 2017 16:08:57
If you read his statement BJU it shows he wants that but does not have the players at his disposal to do so.

28 Dec 2017 16:21:36
BJU, I totally agree with you that we don't want to continue into the future with this type of football. What makes you think we will? Like my post says, Allergy himself is saying this football is not what HE wants. My post is saying that everything people are moaning about his past history. He has only been with us 8 games and with all the points I mention, has so far done a great job securing us points. even with the squad that had previously conceded 28 goals in 8 games. So give the guy a break is my suggestion and don't give the players a hard time when in reality he has them over achieving. However, if he signs Peter Crouch and we start lumping the ball to him 30 times a game from our own 6 yard box. then get on his back.

I think after the window mate we will have the recruits for better football, Big Sam to be fair has come in and steadied the ship.

28 Dec 2017 17:16:39
To be fair I haven't once said he hasn't done a good job. I've praised the way he sorted out the defence. However, unlike some on here like grumpy, GB and yourself I'm not ready to give him a 5 year deal or be happy with the type of football we are playing.

I'll be happy and dancing the Sam Allardyce tune when he's got us winning and playing football this club was known for.

I want to watch a team playing like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and United than a team playing like Burnley, WBA or Palace.

And that's my point to you guys. Don't be complacent and accept what he's done so far as the job is already done. He is a long, long way off being congratulated and patted on the back. Judge him properly and don't be afraid to call him on things like 1 shot on target and poor possession. You're not moaning or being negative your just stating facts and areas of improvement.

Acceptance of mediocrity just puts us in a category we never want to be in as a club or supporter.

He just does what it says on the tin mate, and for that is what he has done, he is going to be very successful at Everton, wait until after this window and he will have us progressing up the table at a rate of knots.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 22:42:18
BJU I think we are all saying just accept what he has done rather than talking about 5 year contracts. In fact looking at our next fixtures, it would not surprise me if we had a little set back anyway. Thing is, the squad was without Bolasie for so long. The squad this week was ridden with flu. He had to pick a load of youngsters. No Rooney, no Coleman, no Baines. and yes it was terrible to watch, but needs must. We really were looking bad. but you cannot really blame Allardyce for anything other than organising defence first and settling the ship. I would say give him until at least this season and see what happens. Imust add that I do think his so called negative football image is a bit unfair. I think he plays effective football with what he has. As yet the squad is poor for Premier League standards. One promising kid as a center forward and another who was told by his manager that he was not good enough. A left back that is obviously poor. Yes I think he has done ok so far.

Hey Grumpy mate how you doing great post below as usual, totally agree Big Sam has been nothing short of Brilliant since he joined us, also well impressed with Little Sam so passionate and vocal on the touch line, something we haven't seen for such a long time, one other thing mate looks like we are going to sign Cenk Tosun looks good to me, I just wonder how long before the doom merchants and all of our managers we have on here start to slate the guy before he even gets here, anyway mate Big Sam will be here long term so might as well get used the good times cheers mate.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Dec 2017 11:34:20
Whereas you guys sound ridiculous about Sam. Cenk looks like a good player. He's got bags of power and looks to have pace which is exactly what we need right now.

If we can add some width and a left back I'd be happy with the squad. I'd also like to see another striker to give us even more power up front.

We don't look like we need that much to be honest. But not having that threat up front that scares teams means we look like a soft touch.

28 Dec 2017 12:32:46
I wouldnā€™t exactly call him brilliant. I mean letā€™s face it, itā€™s been like pulling teeth in the last few games. But I realise he is playing with a talented yet unbalanced squad.

If this Tosun fella turns out good then it will be a bargain even at the reported Ā£25m. Letā€™s face it, if a team has to spend Ā£75m to sure up a defence then, as ours seems to have that part licked right now, we could be looking at a winter window that finally corrects the errors of the summer one.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 14:22:13
Doing well thanks GB mate.

I think Tosun will be a great addition to the side providing he settles in ok. If big Sam and Walshy deem him good enough to sign then he gets my full support.

I do think if Tosun does not get a hat trick every time he plays he will get crucified on here being one of Sams signings.

what a fantastic job Sam is doing for us, we have never had a manager that has had so much impact on us after such a short time.

Love him or loath him he is doing the job.

I personally think that 18 months is too short a contract for him and we should extend it now, let us give him the same chances as we were prepared to give RM and RK.

He has come out of retirement to help us out and is doing a superb job, we stand a better chance of playing in European competitions year in year out than at any other time over the last 25 years or so.

Get used to it, we are going places folks.
