Where does everyone stand on Dyche now then? I honestly don't know.

If you stand back and take a big picture look at the season as a whole you can't argue it's not a bad effort. With all the nonsense off the pitch, and PTS deductions, being safe at this point is a quantifiably successful season.

But that mid-season slump still leaves a bad taste, as does another summer of frankly poor transfer business.

Be interested to know who is in the keep Dyche camp and who is Dyche out.

Not me a few lucky wins at the end of what has been another poor season won’t change my mind.

Need to finish this season as high as possible now. Every penny counts, so let's aim at getting as high as possible, and keep this positivity going.

Agree but will be interesting to see what happens now we are safe.

Happy days lads! :-D . Jack Harrison. I think he'd be a good left back. He works hard and gets stuck in but has zero attacking ability, literally does a shimmy and a step over and passes back in field.

Harrison is a no for me. Yes he works hard but we need more than that. If we are going to carry on with this style of football then we need quick wide men who can actually take a man on.
If we are already going to fork out 25m on Beto, then we can't follow this up with a silly price for Harrison.

28 Apr 2024 12:52:50
Whilst I am not fussed whether we get him or not, Harrison has played every single game this season out of position.

He is an old fashioned left-sided winger. Goes on the outside of his man and whips a ball in or arrives at the back post to stick the ball in the net. He is clearly not the most confident to go past a man and then have to rely on his weaker foot to get the ball in, even though he has a few assists off it this season.

We did the exact same thing with McNeil when he first came in. Played him on the right and he is dreadful. We moved him to the left and his performances were night and day and he started scoring and assisting.

Harrison has gotten 8 goals and 10 assists, 8 goals and 1 assist, 5 goals and 8 assists playing in the Premier League. He is much better than what we already have at the club but that isn't hard is it.

28 Apr 2024 14:54:04
He’s far from my idea of an old fashioned winger. Dave Thomas was a winger. Beat the man, get to the touch line and cross the ball.
I have never seen Harrison do that. He’s a grafter at best who works hard for the team. Nothing else.

Watching Villa Chelsea. How the heck did our lot succumb to 6-0.

Simple, we didn't try. Once they scored we gave up. But let's not kid ourselves, if it hadn't been for our keeper we could have lost our other games as well.

28 Apr 2024 14:54:41
Yep fine margins.

Greatest support. and great effort by the players to get us over the line and leave us with some nails on our fingers. We enjoy the moment. then look to see what ways the guys at the top can steady this strange ship of ours and see if we can finally have a season without constantly looking over our shoulders. Much depends on the takeover by.? and what players are left after the budget dictates who goes and who stays. You would not have put money on Dyche being manager after the Chelsea debacle but I guess he is likely to start the 2024-25 season. Not a fan of his style but who he brings in will tell us a lot about what kind of football we are going to be playing. Sad we missed out on Adam Wharton but hopefully the scouts have lined up some creativity from somwhere. My own feelings. to let go would include Harrison, Young, Keane if he is willing to take a pay cut and go. Gomez too. but some have to stay or we don't have a team. just a pity we probably won't see Branthwaite become a future Everton captain.

couldn't agree more. We can relax now. Yes we will probably lose Branthwaite To balance the books, such a shame. Dyche deserves a medal when you think what he has had to put up with- Points deducted, 777 etc. don't fancy 777 to run the club. With any luck there might be more buyers interested now?

27 Apr 2024 21:54:50
Dyche bit of a soft lad. ' You were all desperate for Luton to win and us lose' bit of growing up to do yet Mr Dyche.

28 Apr 2024 14:57:32
Why does he deserve a medal? He’s paid very handsomely to do a job.
The only time he deserves a medal is when we actually win something. Then he would get a winners medal.

27 Apr 2024 19:46:37
Pickford carried on tonight from our last game excellent goal keeping.

{Ed025's Note - yeah he was very good GB..

28 Apr 2024 14:58:35
Definitely made all the difference, and still people want to get rid of him.

27 Apr 2024 19:33:10
We have 'won' as many points as the much vaunted Brighton team. a lot of kudos to the players who have stepped up this season. Yes there was a dodgy spell after Xmas but this has to be seen as progress. Find a number 10 who works hard and unlocks defences and there's a glimmer of light from the dark tunnel.

Spot on Cookie, absolutely delighted with the result and the turn around from the Chelsea game. With some good recruitment there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

28 Apr 2024 15:00:26
Players stepped up for a few games. Where have they been all season?

{Ed025's Note - thats what i ask myself Woburn..

I haven't read many on this site who are happy with the brand of football we play under Dyche, myself included. However, if you knew at the beginning of the season we would get an 8 point penalty, would you have been happy with the current position we find ourselves in with 4 games remaining.
I am really torn between wanting him out and a fresh start next season, or putting up with the brand of football for another season and probably being safe again. We know we will be operating on a shoestring again which works to Dyches strength.

{Ed025's Note - tough one that TBT, but who,s to say that a new manager wont do better mate?....but of course he could do worse..

With our situation, Dyche is the right man. We were crap before him, now we are less crap and have a much stronger mentality and have am excellent defensive record.

Yeah we have had some crap performances, and he is stubborn but the players should shoulder far more responsibility in my opinion, It's
way to easy to blame the manager. When he has have decent transfer budget and isn't fighting points deductions and knobhead owners, then I think he can be judged fairly.

25 Apr 2024 20:55:07
He’s made us very hard to beat, awful to watch (apart from last night) though. Clearly the players want to play for him, last night proved that and that’s crucial. Sometimes it’s better the devil you know.

26 Apr 2024 00:18:19
Manager picks the formation and tactics. Last nights win doesn’t sway it for me, this kick it anywhere and hope for set pieces is not good enough. Keep him till end of season then move on.

26 Apr 2024 07:34:47
Dyche staying or leaving really is a tough call, and one that does seem to split the fan base.

26 Apr 2024 08:12:50
Yep agree Scottish toffee, as much as the football ain't been great of late, early season we were up there in league with chances created and XG and been more organised less solid and organised defensively majority of the season, add the battles off field and deductions he has done a very good job albeit not pretty, factor on we won't have much to spend in summer and likely to be weaker as a squad think it probably is a case of better the devil you know, not like we have a warchest in summer for a reset so until the dust settles stability for me but hope he gives some youngsters a chance to step up.

26 Apr 2024 08:48:30
Get rid and move on. Other clubs have done well with their manager selections, are now well above us to where we should be, why can't we?

26 Apr 2024 09:39:50
NickB57 other clubs may well have done well with their manager selections, not us though we have been very poor so why do you think if we get rid of Dyche our current management will be able to select a manger capable of making a poor squad a better team playing better football?

26 Apr 2024 14:45:43
SA90 hopefully once the sale goes through we will have management capable of selecting better management. You want to stay fighting relegation for the next 4-5 years?

26 Apr 2024 15:28:34
I know what your saying NickB57, but I wouldn't trust the club the run a bath, let alone appoint a new coach and new players.

We have to cut our cloth accordingly until we have competent people running the club.

I've heard a lot of fans dismissing Dyche like he is an idiot with a terrible récord, he got Burnley relegated twice etc. He kept Burnley, repeat Burnley in the PL for 9 years on a tiny budget. He got them relegated once and came straight back up and stayed there.

Never once did he get the money that Kompany got, and he is not doing to great in the PL.

Granted footie was crap but that is impressive.

And he was also sacked before they got relegated the 2nd time, he may well have kept them up had he stayed.

26 Apr 2024 15:46:58
Think we will be fighting relegation until the finances are sorted and we stop giving out stupid contracts.

26 Apr 2024 16:15:39
If the club is sold and we are on a better financial footing it wouldn't bother me if we had anew manager.

26 Apr 2024 17:04:17
Can’t watch hoofball again next season.

26 Apr 2024 17:15:51
He also got Burnley into Europe Scottish. Agree about Dyche think all in all he is doing a decent job, just does he move us forward as a club in next 5 years or so, am unsure, I think he deserves a chance to at least try especially under better circumstances but equally can understand the calls for a new start, very torn between the 2 but atm I don't see a stand out realistic choice or many wanting this gig until the mess been sorted which if we are still a premiership club and Dyche at the helm he imo deserves a shot at it first.

Where do fans want/ genuinely think we will be in 5years as a club, what's the expectation and hope?

26 Apr 2024 21:38:34
Yes Mocker he got them into Europe too, i didn't put that in as I was beginning to sound like his agent?.
