What's wrong with Quatar investment now for goodness sake there's good and bad in every nation including Britain, let's wait and see before dismissing them out of hand.

Agree5 Disagree0

09 May 2024 15:42:53
Some things are more important than football GB and I'd rather we retain our principles and values as a club.

But you of course are entitled to your view and your right they is good and bad everywhere.

{Ed025's Note - i feel like breaking out into "Ebony and Ivory" now mocker.. :)

09 May 2024 15:53:21
Don’t know how you can say that Mocker MSP is half owned by an Iranian / American billionaire as for human bights as you say mate they have nothing to crow about either, there's good and bad in all Countries.

09 May 2024 15:48:37
Brilliant Ed??????.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

09 May 2024 17:30:57
So you would welcome Qatari owners GB. Their stance on LBGTQ is prison sentences if caught. Are you homophobic too? I'll stick with an owner who can demonstrate the values that we at Everton support.

09 May 2024 18:00:34
At this level of financing, all money is dirty. It is the ridiculous nature of the modern sports world. I do not disagree with the moral concerns. It would, however, be difficult to find a truly white knight billionaire.

09 May 2024 18:23:57
You can carry with that Nick are you going to say Moshiri is in the same boat as he is Iranian, alsonThe MSP part owner is an Iranian / American it goes on and on mate not many are whiter than white.

09 May 2024 18:37:12
What has anybodies sexual preference got to do with a working mans sport? It is as bad as all that George Floyd bend the knee nonsense and that is why it was so poorly received for the most part. The game should be separate to any outside talking points.

How a nation decides to run things on their own land is absolutely nothing to do with me, you or in anyway related to football. I imagine they won't be concerned with enforcing their rules in a foreign country and will keep things strictly sports and business related.

09 May 2024 18:47:52
For me it isn't just the human rights tho it is a major contributing factor. I don't like how the Saudi's or Qatar is getting too heavily involved in sport in general, I know it's the way things are and where all the wealth is but it doesn't mean I after like or accept it, this is after all the UK and when a question is asked everyone has their right to express their views right or wrong and long may that continue.

09 May 2024 13:57:16
Given what the Saudi's are doing to force people to move, so they can build their Eco City, would anyone be happy if a Saudi bought Everton? If the "Use lethal force if required" order is correct, I wonder how the Premier League will react to Newcastle's owners.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2024 14:44:30
It would be a massive no from me Nick. Don't want the Saudi's or Qatari's. Would go against everything the club stands for not that that means nowadays since Moshiri turned up.

Yourself?

09 May 2024 14:51:00
Yes I agree. We might be in trouble, but we are Everton.

09 May 2024 13:19:07
I think the award easily goes to Palmer, but Branthwaite deserved to be among the nominees for young player of the season! Easily in ahead of Udogie and Mainoo for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2024 15:16:56
Think Foden takes the award myself and deservedly.

09 May 2024 08:05:40
None of us are privy to the true extent of Everton's financial predicament but some standouts

Year 22/ 23 reported loss £89m
Included in that, profit on Player transactions £48 m so the real loss without players being sold was £137m

In year 21/ 22 we reported a loss of £45m after making profits on player trading of £68m. The loss before selling our best players was therefore £113m

Over those 2 years and including the £116m profit on player sales, our reported loss was £134m

For P&S rules we are allowed to take off the costs of the Academy and womens football. Everton don't itemise them in the accounts but they are not a major part of the £134m

Under current P&S rules we are allowed to make £105m losses over a 3 year period. I'd say we are already over that £105m after just 2 years so, in simple terms we have to turn losses of £137m and £113m a year into a breakeven/ profit situation this year

How on earth can we do that?

• Reduce wages. It's important to realise that all these £100k per week players we have cost us £5m per year or £6m if we include things like NI etc. Also the financial year started in June 2023 and ends 30th June 2024. Very little we can do now and we did little during the last close season
• It also looks the stadium isn't going to open until start of 25/ 26 season. We've probably had increased costs of admin/ security on 2 stadiums with no income coming in from the new stadium, Even if we can secure the naming rights at best we can report income from next year, rather than this year, at time of signing
• We had a couple of one off expenses which won't be repeated such as the £5m we paid the directors for their 'sterling' work for us
• Offset that with the ever increasing finance costs we have been paying for normal operating and the new stadium
• Nothing above really helps us so we are left with player sales. Player sales that we need to complete by end of June to get into the 23/ 24 accounts so it's a fire sale - prices won't be top end but what we can get. From what we might get we have to take off the unamortised transfer fees and the rest would be profit. You all have your own opinions of sellable players and what profit we might make. Mine are Branthwaite £60m, Onana 30m, Pickford £25m, DCL £20m.

That's £135m -if we are lucky. In my opinion even if we can sell these 4 these is nothing left for replacements. Dyche ( we can't afford to sack him) will lose 3 of his best players (that's deliberate by me - I don't rate Onana - I'm just hoping someone does because we need a profit from him)

The balance sheet and staying solvent is even more problematical until we know who, if anyone is going to take over from Moshiri, and how much of all our outstanding debts will be converted into equity. Paying interest on our current debts is killing us and they are still growing monthly with day to day running costs and the costs to finish the rebuilding of the stadium, never mind actually repaying any of the outstanding debts. On the horizon lies the costs of renovating/ repurposing Goodison

We need a white Knight with a lot of money and a great deal of patience as the problems will not go away overnight

The patience needs to come from our fans as well as there will, in my opinion be little or no money for new players. The stadium might well be the heavy duty industrial tow rope that broke the camels back.

Excellent post BW ??
Very much a reality one.

09 May 2024 10:19:25
Our scouting and recruitment team need to be busting a gut to identify and secure free transfers or players with low buyout clauses that can do a job in our squad over the next couple of seasons.
As you said - patience is key - and we must adopt a policy that remaining in the Premier League in the short term is more important than silky football.

09 May 2024 10:46:13
Spot on JB.

09 May 2024 14:32:30
Totally agree JB but seriously what evidence do you have that our scouting and recruitment team are up to that?

08 May 2024 19:41:47
Good shout there bluenose with ortega think he's a very good keeper just unfortunate for him he's got edison in front of him would definitely walk into most teams.

As for virginia I watched some of his games and he did really well and knowing our financial situation with the wages pickford is on I was thinking we could reinvest some of his wages on a decent freebie.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 May 2024 21:15:41
Aaron Ramsdale?

09 May 2024 12:06:01
Yeah you are right Andy mate. Far too good to sit on the bench.

I watched Virginia in the cup for us and he played very well tbf to him. Playing well against weaker opposition once or twice doesn't necessarily translate to being a reliable 30+ game a season PL keeper for me though. Would be a risk imo. When you think about how integral a solid GK has been in keeping us in the league the last 3 seasons, I think if Pickford goes, we need to get another experienced head in.

09 May 2024 12:06:31
Ramsdale would be far to expensive and I think there are far better keepers out there in foreign leagues that we could get.

09 May 2024 12:43:51
Not that it would happen but De Gea still without a club and could still do a job for a season or 2.

Tho his reported wages would be well out of reach for us unless he was tempted to guaranteed premiership football on a vastly reduced contract.

{Ed025's Note - Money would be a massive problem Mocker..

09 May 2024 13:37:26
Yes totally Ed,

Surprised De Gea not been snapped up, still a decent keeper and certainly had/ has couple seasons in him at premiership level.

The hope being if we do get rid of Pickford say £30million and 125k PW wages, that we could offer De Gea a guaranteed starter, £5m signing on fee and similar or less wages as Jordan. Know not so simple and know Saudi's have offered bumper wages but it would be a interesting proposition to him if he wanted to continue at a top level.

More realistic if we need to replace is the lad at Burnley for me, Trafford, young and upcoming with scope for sell on fee in future.

{Ed025's Note - De Gea was on around £500,000 a week at United Mocker, yes he may take a bit of a drop but still out of our reach mate, we need players on lower wages than we already have to conform with what we need to do im afraid..

09 May 2024 14:53:24
I know scary amount that ain't it mate.

I know but the hope was we could pitch premiership football once again and he would have the hungry too not like he needs the money and not sure if still lives or has a house near.

Don't think Jordan goes myself certainly wouldn't be high up on my list to go tho is 1 of our most sellable assets so needs must ain't it mate.

08 May 2024 17:57:56
Watch Sky ports they have an in depth discussion on Everton at this present time, it is not all doom and gloom we are a Premiership Club with a brand new stadium with other options available with other investors waiting to step in, Moshiri wants it sorted before our home game with Sheffield.

{Ed002's Note - The other investors are MSP. The only thing that can possibly be resolved by the final game is 777 Partners getting rejected or approved by the Premier League - and right now it is more likely they will be rejected.}

Agree4 Disagree0

09 May 2024 07:35:31
Sooner the better get 777 binned. MSP seem a much better proposition, have to wonder at Mr Moshiris seeming reluctance to consider any other than 777.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect its because of the loans they have all ready paid to us to keep us afloat DFS, and the exclusivity deal that was made with 777 mate..

09 May 2024 12:54:07
GB The Sheffield match is on Saturday. There's not a cat in hells chance of it being sorted by then unless the FA pass 777 which is highly unlikely with the news that has been coming out about them this week and quite frankly I don't want them as owners
If it is anyone else they have to start the approval process which isn't (in our experience) fast

Of course Moshiri wants it resolved. He will get less if we go into Administration because MSP or 777 ask for repayment of their loans or if Moshiri pays them off and doesn't get it back from any potential new owners.

08 May 2024 16:37:34
Sad news on Paul Holmes. Passed away at 56yr old from cancer. R. I. P.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 May 2024 11:32:56
Still think we are a good investment proposition for new owners, we have beaten the drop twice the last with a good haul of points with games to go, and now have Sean to move us forward with new younger players, a new stadium will very soon be finished, hopefully Moshiri will see the folly of his ways and remove the exclusive deal arrangements he has with 777 so other interested parties come in.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to forget the club has absolutely no money and vast debts - including to 777 Partners who have actually kept Everton in business this season. The risk of Administration is now very significant.}

Agree7 Disagree0

08 May 2024 11:55:05
Yep all sounds great and easy GB, but you keep saying all these new young hungrier players? Where we getting the money from? Good young players pal carry a good value and risk. We ain't in a position to spend nor jeopardize our short term future never mind mid to long term. We will be in the market for free transfers and more than likely ones that are towards the back end of their career, that's the reality we face.

08 May 2024 12:22:31
Is the only way for hope then is if we get a different investor to 777 then, it seems everthing they touch turns to stone.

08 May 2024 12:40:08
I still think we can get through this, you never know Tim and the Quatar’s may come in, a Premiership Club no matter how badly it’s been run can be turned around in someone’s capable hands, I’m not giving up hope, apparently Moshiri met with 777 yesterday in London, maybe he can get that exclusive clause removed.

08 May 2024 12:52:07
GB,

Wether we get a new investor or investors or not it won't make abit of difference to our transfer budget, we are screwed for the next couple of seasons at best, gone are the days we throw money away until the stadium move starts generating a better income, our top earners move on, a average championship player is going for £20million plus nowadays, we simply don't have the financial wiggle room, we will do well attract any up and coming players without paying over the odds contracts, this ain't fantasy football GB and we are where we are as a club due to irrational spend in years gone by and throwing large contracts to entice, they will be some bargains to be had but don't you think other clubs will be aware of that and be in a better position.

I'd love a big overhaul on the squad with exciting youngsters and proven talent but won't be getting much with our loose change warchest am afraid.

08 May 2024 13:03:27
Ok mate both entitled to our opinions I still reckon we will rise from this it’s been truly awful, I’ve been privileged to see our glory days just hope it can return, never give up mate.

08 May 2024 13:21:29
Listening to you pal we might as well all pack up and go home, well I don’t accept that, how on earth do you or anyone know what is going on apart from reading the rags and media not a clue any of them, you stay in your world and I will stay in mine.

08 May 2024 13:24:15
I don't need a weatherman GB to tell me when it's raining.

08 May 2024 13:27:12
We already know that we are not going to be spending anything this summer, unless we shift on some of the assets. Even then, there is nothing to say that we still don't spend any money.

We will be stuck with loans and exploring the free market, which isn't actually as bad as it seems this year. Near enough every single one of these players below improve our side and all go on frees this summer. Surely we can pluck one or two of them and strengthen.

Personal picks (with a touch of realism) would be Aina or Johnson for RB. Coufal is solid but getting on now. Brownhill, as I don't think we get Ndidi or Rodriguez. Yazici as the playmaker. Adams, even though I don't particularly like him. He works hard and I think he outscores any striker we have at the club.

Defenders:

Tete 28 - Fulham
Adarabioyo 26 - Fulham
Aina 27 - Forest
Coufal 31 - West Ham
Johnson 24 - West Ham

Midfielders:

Ndidi 27 - Leicester
Rodriguez 30 - Real Betis
Brownhill 28 - Burnley
Kamada 27 - Lazio
DaSilva 25- Brentford
Yazici 27 - Lille
Castrovilli 27 - Fiorentina
Luka Modric 38 - Real Madrid > We signed Young, so why not ;)

Forwards:

Adams 28 - Southampton
Ihenacho 27 - Leicester
Gabriel Barbos 27 - Flamengo
Batshuayi 30 - Fenerbahce
Jovic - 27 - AC Milan.

08 May 2024 13:45:11
And how often are they wrong Mocker, have faith mate.

08 May 2024 13:46:39
Exactly BlueNose a couple on here seem quite happy for us to go under, that’s never going to happen mate.

08 May 2024 13:49:07
Good selection of affordable players mate good platform to start and integrate about 8 of them into our present Team and start watching some decent footy with a manager that knows what he is talking about.

08 May 2024 14:01:28
Tim and the Qartaris are playing the Jazz world stage at this summer's Glastonbury.

08 May 2024 14:18:31
I have faith GB but also realistic to what is achievable short term and well aware of the predicament we find ourselves in.

Regarding BlueNose list GB, you state young hungry players you want in but than happy to take the list which is very much where we will be shopping look at the age range, 1 last contract, can rule out majority for me of those tbf, I mind modric haha Adams and Brown hill most realistic and obtainable, Johnson, Kamada and Yazici be the ones that appeal to me bluenose.

08 May 2024 14:28:11
I think we have shown in our history (post trophies) that we are never out for the count GB. Sure, the situation on the pitch isn't the greatest and the situation off of it is much worse but there is still hope that we can turn things around.

Yes mate, some good options available to us, it is just a case of whether or not these players want to roll up their sleeves and jump into the fire. Then again, that is what Kevin's and Sean's job is, isn't it. They need to convince them that although we may be in the mire atm, the vision is there for us to get back up the table and competing for Europe. Although the football may not be pretty, necessary building blocks have been put in place by Dyche to stop us leaking goals and hopefully with a sprinkle of attacking quality, we can start to mend things in the same fashion at the other end of the pitch.

We have a fantastic set of fans, good training facilities, a world class stadium on the horizon. If these players can be talked into realising that by them joining, we can greatly improve the team and move back up the table, then things could turn a little bit brighter my mate.

Up the Ev!

08 May 2024 14:48:48
What a great shortlist BlueNose. It drives me nuts when managers/ fans insist you need money for quality.

You need quality recruitment, the fee is dictated by many factors not the quality. Obviously no one would disagreee on Antony's quality for a bargain £85m.

Providing the wages were acceptable, plenty on that list improve are team and depth. We have to cut our cloth accordingly for the time being.

I just hope we are doing that, because our recent recruitment has not been good enough.

08 May 2024 14:24:33
Ed002 you say the risk of administration is very significant but in order to go into administration we would need to be in a situation were we can't pay our operating costs. With multiple parties heavily invested in the club I can't see that any of them would want the club to go into administration.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know who these "multiple parties are". I know of two viable options only. Everton cannot pay their operating costs - the players have been paid by 777 Partners with loans of more than £200M. MSP loans must be paid back this month - that is more than £150M.}

08 May 2024 15:25:53
Agree Mocker.

Brownhill has decent pedigree and works hard and gets about the pitch. Adams, I think improves us. Not got flair by any means but he is industrious and knows the league very well. 8-12 goals a season.

Would love Kamada mate and wanted him from Frankfurt but I can't see him coming to us.

Agreed Scottish. There are definitely players out there that can strengthen us. I think the recruitment has been very hit and miss. Tarks, Jimmy, Gueye, McNeil and Harrison have all done jobs for us but then there have been plenty of buys that have been an utter waste of money.

08 May 2024 21:13:22
Ed002. It's all above my understanding now. If 777 cannot raise more funds, and cannot repay the amount you quoted of over £150M, and no one else can be found to buy us, what could be the ultimate scenario? Could we be booted out of the EPL? Would the EFL let us in? I'm sure there are interested parties but as loan cost go up and up, would they be prepared to buy us?

{Ed002's Note - It would quite likely lead to Administartion. They have asked for an extra two weeks but their problems are mounting elsewhere as Standard Liege are likely going to get a transfer ban as 777 Partners have failed to pay the wages of the players.}

08 May 2024 22:48:48
Thanks ed.

09 May 2024 14:23:11
I'm not sure Administration is the solution for anybody but it's as Ed002 says if MSP or 777 or both ask for their money back what happens

Does Moshiri pay them? He's been very reluctant to put more money into the club but would Administration make him even less money than paying them off and hoping he can recover his money? He would be way down the creditors priority list if administration happens

Would forcing Everton into administration work out for MSP or 777? Have they got their loans secured against assets? If not they again risk losing a lot of their money

There isn't a good solution

As a fan I don't want 777 anywhere near us
I also don't want administration as we would find it very difficult to recover
I also don't see this supposed attractiveness some fans see in us unless it's a fire sale.

07 May 2024 20:09:03

08 May 2024 21:14:28
More grumpy? ???.

08 May 2024 21:38:03
Yes how did you guess.

07 May 2024 18:04:37
Evening all,

I’m just back from a long weekend of hiking in The Lakes and feel like I’ve done a few rounds with Big Dunc. I won’t go into the chaffing as you’ll not eat your dinner.

Anyway, I caught a clip of Stephen Warnock talking about how badly Rafa treated players at the RS even when they’d just won the Champions League.

Old news to us now, but to me shows how much he must’ve upset the players when he came to us.

Now where’s that sudocream.
