Honestly I think a few months ago we would've all said get rid of Kenny. Now I'm more inclined to offer him a new contract. He's shown he can be a vital squad player in the last few games.

The problem with get rid usually means you spend additional finances on bringing a player for the same position. Players like Kenny and Davies are good to keep as squad players if you can keep them on a relatively small contract fee. They may not pull up trees but will be a good backup player if needed. As you bring better younger players in through the academy then you could look to replace them. I personally don't see any problems giving Kenny a new contract. Seamus is starting to show he is not capable of playing flat out week in week out and nest season won't be any different having Coleman, Kenny and Patterson fighting it out for a 1st team place next season would only benefit the team. Having 3 players two of them on a relatively low wage rather than playing one of your better players out of position as you don't have any suitable cover has got to be a more viable option.

I’d need to see more from Kenny before I’d want him offered a new contract.

Kenny has had x1 good game - let’s see what we think at end of season before new contract.
He’s been crap for years - otherwise we wouldn’t have bought Patterson

I’m of the opinion that game was a one off and we will see usual Kenny soon enough (hope I’m wrong)

Or maybe we’ve been playing Kenny out of position all these years and he’s actually a natural leftback?

You know the new manager has started with a clean slate for all the players. Would be nice if the fans now did the same.

{Ed025's Note - your dead right latch..

Actually Lampard has only good words to say about Kenny. If Lampard can get young local players performing we can save ourselves a lot of money on spongers who only come to the club for money and can't give a toss about the club. Attitude, love of the club and dedication to training and improving is more important than trumped up expectations. Who would you rather have from an attitude viewpoint, Kenny or Kean?

{Ed025's Note - kenny all day mike..

Tbh Kenny won’t be on massive money. I’d be drafting the new contract as we speak. Epitomises Everton and is showing he can play multiple positions. He’s the modern Hibbert imo.

I'd keep Kenny for same reasons mentioned by others, I hope Mykolenko turns out to be very good, but we don't know. Same for Nkokoku really. There was a good interview with Kenny on Insta saying how he has mentally changed his attitude, and this has further been enhanced by Lamps and rest of the coaching team, be more positive, confident etc.

Kenny is the new denis irwin lol. Right footed left back. If he continues playing like he did against Leeds then keep him. Not judge off 1 game. If a player can get head straight and find/ keep form then it saves us money to reinvest somewhere else or into youth team.

Gomes doesn't deserve a clean sheet though, he needs to never even be on the bench. Terrible player.
