Really hope these rumours about signing Ramsey are just that. Talk of him wanting 200k+? If this were to happen then it shows we have learned nothing.

Gascoigne! Ginola! Eto!
We will never learn.
Ramsey is perfect for us!
Old
Injury prone
Expensive
Come on join the blue gravy train!

2.) 12 Dec 2021 23:41:50
I'm Old
Injury prone
But inexpensive
Therefore a better option than Ramsey!

3.) 13 Dec 2021 13:57:47
It isn't us that needs to learn, for me it is the business man with deep pockets. If he is going to pay shed loads out, how about on an advisor that knows football inside out! Throw some dosh at Hoddle gor a couple of hours a week - management didn't suit but football and players knowledge who better.

4.) 13 Dec 2021 14:48:18
We had a good DOF and he completely ignored him. So Hoddle would stand no chance.

So if rumours are to be believed then Rafas first signing could be Ramsey, another thirty year old. Apparently they could get him for free but would probably have to pay high wages.
Bit strange this as it's the wage bill we need to get down, and would expect the player would want at least a two year contract.
Hope this is just paper talk, otherwise we have learned nothing.

Only thing worse would be Mourinho managing Ramsey in Goodison. If it happens we sould be relegated directly to league two.

2.) 06 Dec 2021 19:41:06
Hi Eds, anything about Digne and Rafa having a bust up?

{Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

3.) 06 Dec 2021 23:26:43
I think all this Ramsey and Hazard talk is just either trash paper talk or someone at Everton trying to focus attention elsewhere

Mind you Moshiri hasn't learnt anything in over 5 years so you never know.

4.) 07 Dec 2021 07:19:21
I am getting the feeling that players will now not come in unless Raga wants them.

5.) 07 Dec 2021 07:37:56
Ramsey was going to none league Wrexham in last weeks papers.

Remember reading a book about Harry Catterick, and Alan Ball was talking about the players during training. He said that Catterick would very rarely take training, but that the players knew that if the blinds in his office moved you went flat out, or you were in trouble.
That wouldn't happen theses days. Players today have all the power, and agents move them around like pawns to maximise their profits.
So managers these days can't be dictators, players simply down tools or move on, or wait for the manager to lose his job. Either way they keep making money.
So good managers now have to be good negotiators, have to be good at encouraging their players, and have to be able to work with them, and build up mutual respect.
So before we appoint another manager can we make sure he ticks all these boxes, because regardless if we like it or not this is football today.

A good Manager is able to delegate you have to trust people around you and let go.

2.) 17 Jan 2022 10:17:58
Same for good owners too.

3.) 17 Jan 2022 12:00:49
Not sure I agree with you Bob. I don't think for one minute Pep. Klopp or Tuchel don't demand their players put a shift in and they get it from them

It might not look like it at times but I also believe the vast majority of players want to do well. I don't think they want to have fans on their backs, they want to be applauded not booed

If we get the right manager in who gets the team playing to their strengths and raises the players confidence we will have a team that we can be proud of

It's finding that right manager that our board of non football people have a problem with.

4.) 17 Jan 2022 12:42:31
bw I would agree if it wasn’t for the fact Salah now asking for 400k a week to stay at Lpool, and the three managers you mentioned clubs pay huge wages to keep players happy. Utd players on huge wages, do half of them look that bothered?

5.) 18 Jan 2022 00:34:43
Hi Woburn. you probably won't read this with all the posts about the new manager but in some ways the money proves my point. Yes - there is obscene amounts of money being paid to players all over the Premiership but it's not just that what keeps the players of City, Liverpool Chelsea and I'll add another - Leeds playing to the max

It's the managers insistence of them putting in a shift - every game - or they are out

I wish wages weren't so high - football is losing its connection with the fans partly because of it, but these players are dedicated professionals driven on by their managers, their own desire to be successful and admired and also by their fans.

They were Norwich's first goals since the 30th November.

Does anyone else look at the team sheet and think s**t, or is it just me?

Last six Prem games.
W-1. D-1. L-4. Goals for: 7. Goals against: 13.
Yep that's definitely top 10 form that is.

1.) 09 Jan 2022 20:02:32
Rafa is the manager we all thought Moyes would be if he came back here

Really are levels between them. Just who is levels above who, that is what is surprising.

Benitez in China, " my goal is to establish them as a top five club, and to build a legacy here". The team went from mid table to a relegation dog fight.
Ring any bells?

Boblatchblue

1.) 09 Jan 2022 11:05:42
I have no Idea of how difficult or how 'do able' his job was in China Bob tbh. . . though I am pretty sure he has lost the plot as far as the PL is concerned, players need more than managers reps. to get them motivated and his heyday was before a lot of their times as it were anyway, I hope that he will learn from his previous matches 'this' season not from seasons 'past' and go from there.

2.) 09 Jan 2022 11:24:03
Think he has learnt from last year and turned wins into losses. Made sure good players from last year are sold, alienated or injured. In fairness if I was put in charge of Liverpool I would do the same. Fair play to him.

3.) 09 Jan 2022 11:25:04
I believe he was given a lot of money to turn them into a top team. Club had spent 250m on training facilities alone. But when it all went to pot it wasn't his fault, it was the players inability to follow instructions. Mmmm?

4.) 09 Jan 2022 15:20:41
Jose has similar problems it seems ?.

5.) 09 Jan 2022 13:46:56
Benitez doesn’t appear to do training Brass, so that was probably a waste of money.

Would have Martinez if he brings most of the Belgium team with him?.

Think Patterson will be a really good player for us. Doucoure has already intimated that he is happier in a three man midfield, probably because it allows him to get forward more often. Just need two good midfielders to put with him.

Well there’s so much crap at the bottom (including us) that 30 points would probably do.
