Jonjoe Kenny, a local lad who had a lot of potential when he was in our youth teams. Did well at Schalke on loan and his first few appearances for Everton he looked reliable.

But his defensive awareness is poor, his end product is lacklustre and despite his best efforts, he doesn't have the speed to get up and down effectively.

He doesn't have the pace of Coleman and is nowhere near as good defensively, at best I'd say he is top championship to bottom 3 premier league player at best.

He loses the ball a lot, thinks and moves too slowly for the team. Hopefully we can move him on in January or the summer and get some money for him. Which begs the question

Who should we get (assuming we can spend in the summer with people gone) . Lamptey? Emerson? Dalot? Odriozola?

Either way, there's no doubt we need a better backup, or at least a better first choice right back so Coleman can be our backup. It's a problem position along with right wing, left sided midfield and goalkeeper.

Thoughts on Kenny? Is he good enough? I obviously don't think so, but maybe some fans see something I don't in him.

I think that he will be given the entire season for CA to see if he thinks the lad can cut it in one of his squads and that's the right way for me. As you say, Swan, he was decent in Germany under Wagner, surely JJK will benefit from a manager such as Carlo? He's young enough to improve further so he deserves the chance to save us a few quid in the market. A few of us doubted that DCL would turn into the player he has this season but look at him fly now. Give him the rest of the season before cutting ties I reckon.

Like the look of Lamptey, kids rapid. JJK to negative for me though to be fair to the lad he was not helped on Sunday by the lack of midfield support.

I was hoping he’d step up, but he’s not looked like he can be a top RB for us. Lacks creativity and crossing ability going forward and has a lot to learn defensively. A top drawer RB must be near the top of Carlo’s list.

{Ed025's Note - for me JB he is mediocre, ok at a push to fill in when injuries or suspensions happen, but long term is not the answer at all mate..

Totally agree Ed. Can’t moan at the business done in the summer - but we are a Right Back and a forward short aren’t we? Injuries/ suspensions will play a huge part for us this season.

{Ed025's Note - i fear its a bit more than that we are short of JB, our first team im very happy with but our backups are really poor mate..

Well from the press reports we still hold interest in Emerson Royal for RB and a new name that is doing the rounds is Samuel Chukwueze plus Denis Bouanga’s name is still getting a mention.

Max Aarrons would be a good shout for rb position. Lampety looks good though.

We need x2 right backs as Coleman will always miss 39-50% games and coming to the end of career.
Quality player and we will struggle to fill his boots.
If we have x6 centre half’s do you not think CA may be looking to play a back 3.

It’s a shame with Jonjoe. As a local we're desperate for him to do well but unfortunately he’s not what we need imo. Move him on for 10mill and get a replacement in.

I’d have Aarons, loads won’t because Norwich got relegated yada yada
Don’t think they would let him go while they are up near the top of the table, he’ll be viewed as integral to their promotion.
