Hi Ed’s, I’m not interested in the finance side of this capping on spending based on tv revenue malarkey however will it affect the changes we undoubtedly would face on the 3 year rolling accounts as I believe we would be in the triple jeopardy situation. Also how would that affect Cities, Chelsea, etc situations
Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Everton are at risk of being charged again as it moves in to a different period. Chelsea need to raise something like £106M in sales before the end of June this year - which they sould be able to do. Manchester City are in a different situation as the charges are not directly related to the same issue. They have a problem with a huge amount of noise in the charges that can be settled or removed, but a handful of very serious charges.}

The media are making a big deal of us having to look at the lower leagues due to our lack of funds.
This worked so well for us in the past aswell as picking up the supposed big teams outcasts.
Players like Neville, Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Cahill, Lescott, Andy Johnson, Carsley were all brilliant for us.
We also used to have such good recruitment. players like Arteta and Gravesen were unheard of till they arrived.
I would happily go back to them days .

The media know nothing more than we do mate, pure rubbish 99% of the time.

{Ed025's Note - but if we did GB i would be more than happy with that approach mate..

29 Apr 2024 12:25:56
Scouting definitely needs to improve DB, we’ve seen some excellent players arrive in the Prem over the past few seasons. Nothing wrong with picking up players from the Championship or lower.

29 Apr 2024 12:28:12
I’d much rather us be scouring players from the lower leagues than recruiting players looking for a final payday.
The physicality of those leagues will stand players in good stead for the step up.
Not all but a lot of those players will also be desperate to step up to the premier league and work their socks off.
There are a lot of decent players in those leagues that would potentially improve us.

29 Apr 2024 15:44:40
Don wisely, a club can pick up some gems, even if a little rough and need final cut and polish.

{Ed002's Note - Everton have already been looking at options from the Championship.}

The young CB at Hull, Jacob Greaves is been looked at strongly as Braithwaites replacement by all accounts Ed, any truth?

{Ed002's Note - Something like this:

Harry Souttar (CB) Identified by Everton as a potential Branthwaite replacement in the summer - but it will depend on promotion/relegation, but he will be available as he is no more than a fringe player at Leicester. Seems an odd pick for Everton. Rangers have shown an interest. May have an option in the Middle East.
Jake Clarke-Salter (CB) Agent has said the player could be seen as a Marc Guehi replacement by Crystal Palace or a Jarrad Branthwaite replacement for Everton. Prior interest of Burnley and Celtic may well have gone now.
Reece Welch (CB) Will be promoted to the first team from the U21s.
Yuta Nakayama (CB) Free Agent in the summer scouted by Everton.
Jake O'Brien (CB) Having a very good seasson in France so far and it may lead to an offer from Everton as a Jarrad Branthwaite replacement in the summer. They will continue to send scouts but he is not Home Grown which may be a concern.
Jacob Greaves (CB) Young Hull CB looked at on a number of occasions over the past year by ex-Leicester scout Jose Fontes on behalf of Roma. West Ham have sent scouts. Seen as another potential Branthwaite replacement for Everton.
Dan Ballard (CB) Interest from Everton as a Jarrad Branthwaite replacement in the summer.
Nico Elvedi (CB) Prior interest of Roma, Wolves, Nice and West Ham has gone. An option for Everton but the player may not be keen.
Ronnie Edwards (CB) Watched by a number of PL clubs with Crystal Palace and West Ham stepping back. Everton may look to an early offer for the summer but Peterborough may ask a decent fee for him that is beyond Everton without sales.}

Think the winner will depend on who wins CL Andy mate.

If Real be Jude if PSG it'll be Mbappe, tho Jude does deserve it and favouritism.

Would like seen Foden myself if not Jude as he as been brilliant this season tho city's CL exit probably puts ends to it unless stars in summer.

Odegaard too would have been in with a shout if Arsenal went deeper in CL. Been class to watch him, might be a Everton fan but favourite premiership player of all time is Bergkamp, Odegaard has that class and aura about him.

29 Apr 2024 14:09:25
Forgot about Phil foden mocker good shout mate be interested to see who will win it but i'm hoping its jude mate.

Where does everyone stand on Dyche now then? I honestly don't know.

If you stand back and take a big picture look at the season as a whole you can't argue it's not a bad effort. With all the nonsense off the pitch, and PTS deductions, being safe at this point is a quantifiably successful season.

But that mid-season slump still leaves a bad taste, as does another summer of frankly poor transfer business.

Be interested to know who is in the keep Dyche camp and who is Dyche out.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 14:49:31
Not me a few lucky wins at the end of what has been another poor season won’t change my mind.

28 Apr 2024 16:11:34
For me i think Dyche has done well. He has inherited other managers signings and i don't think he has made any signings apart from Ashley Young . Bill was responsible for Beto, i think.
Who knows if he is given a chance he may well get the creative players that we need?
At least we are safe but i do worry for the future of the club if 777 get ownership!

28 Apr 2024 16:14:44
I'm all for keeping Dyche. I don't like the style of football but you can't argue it's been effective.

This season has been horrendous, the negativity has been off the scale, with points deductions, the take over and serious threat of administration. We need stability now more than ever.

There's going to be massive changes this summer with so many players leaving, contracts up and key players sold to try balance the books. Little to no money to bring in new players plus the likelihood of even more psr breeches next season.

I honestly think dyche is the safe option to get us out of this mess. He's got a track record of working with a small budget plus he and thelwell will know exactly what we need. Just hope they can sign them.

Apologies for the long post but that's my opinion.

28 Apr 2024 16:23:14
Keeping it short. NO.

28 Apr 2024 16:35:59
Have been frustrated with some of the football he’s played this season.

However, think he should be given next season as a bare minimum.

He’s kept us up and don’t believe those last 3 games were lucky wins as someone has said.

Not sure many managers would have been able to deal with all the nonsense that has gone on around the club this season - points deductions, ongoing takeover, missing owner, death of chairman.

Think the point deductions in particular hit the team hard.

If he can get the team to play like they have for the last 3 games on a regular basis think we could have a decent season under him next year.

28 Apr 2024 17:32:56
We have to keep him: can’t afford to pay off his contract!

28 Apr 2024 19:19:36
But we haven’t played like the last three games and that’s the point.
These players have shown that they are better than what we have been seeing. Question is why?

28 Apr 2024 20:40:41
Because they want to stay in the Premiership, not because they were coached.

29 Apr 2024 11:24:22
For me its a question of the state of the club. If we are still struggling financially then it make sense to keep SD if not then we could well look for another manager. It would be a bit harsh and I wouldn't sack him just not renew his contract he doesn't deserve to be sacked after what he has done over the last two seasons.

29 Apr 2024 12:27:20
On balance, I think he should go. If there’s to be a mass clear out, you’d want the new manager to be involved in identifying/ coaching players that fit his systems and philosophies.

28 Apr 2024 12:32:10
Need to finish this season as high as possible now. Every penny counts, so let's aim at getting as high as possible, and keep this positivity going.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 14:50:29
Agree but will be interesting to see what happens now we are safe.

29 Apr 2024 12:28:17
I wouldn’t be too confident of getting many more points. Lads have done great to keep us up, not convinced they’ll have the drive to keep it up for the next few games.

27 Apr 2024 21:05:35
Happy days lads! :-D . Jack Harrison. I think he'd be a good left back. He works hard and gets stuck in but has zero attacking ability, literally does a shimmy and a step over and passes back in field.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 12:00:51
Harrison is a no for me. Yes he works hard but we need more than that. If we are going to carry on with this style of football then we need quick wide men who can actually take a man on.
If we are already going to fork out 25m on Beto, then we can't follow this up with a silly price for Harrison.

28 Apr 2024 12:52:50
Whilst I am not fussed whether we get him or not, Harrison has played every single game this season out of position.

He is an old fashioned left-sided winger. Goes on the outside of his man and whips a ball in or arrives at the back post to stick the ball in the net. He is clearly not the most confident to go past a man and then have to rely on his weaker foot to get the ball in, even though he has a few assists off it this season.

We did the exact same thing with McNeil when he first came in. Played him on the right and he is dreadful. We moved him to the left and his performances were night and day and he started scoring and assisting.

Harrison has gotten 8 goals and 10 assists, 8 goals and 1 assist, 5 goals and 8 assists playing in the Premier League. He is much better than what we already have at the club but that isn't hard is it.

28 Apr 2024 14:54:04
He’s far from my idea of an old fashioned winger. Dave Thomas was a winger. Beat the man, get to the touch line and cross the ball.
I have never seen Harrison do that. He’s a grafter at best who works hard for the team. Nothing else.

28 Apr 2024 15:25:44
As I said Woburn, he has played out of position every single game this season. That is exactly what the lad did at Leeds, when on his favoured left side. Instead for us he has to check back and do f all.

28 Apr 2024 19:20:31
So your saying it’s the managers fault then?

28 Apr 2024 21:18:50
I didn't say its Dyche's fault. Dyche already has McNeil on the left, who has already shown he cannot cut it on the right. Whilst Harrison is clearly better on the left, he is best suited from what we have available to do a job on the right. Still has 3 goals and 3 assists this season, with the majority of the season having no rb behind him.

Dyche can only work with the players he has but it is a clear fact that Harrison is better on the left side. Not quite sure what you are arguing against.

28 Apr 2024 23:54:45
That from what I have seen he is never a winger.

27 Apr 2024 20:57:08
Watching Villa Chelsea. How the heck did our lot succumb to 6-0.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 12:05:18
Simple, we didn't try. Once they scored we gave up. But let's not kid ourselves, if it hadn't been for our keeper we could have lost our other games as well.

28 Apr 2024 14:54:41
Yep fine margins.

27 Apr 2024 19:47:31
Greatest support. and great effort by the players to get us over the line and leave us with some nails on our fingers. We enjoy the moment. then look to see what ways the guys at the top can steady this strange ship of ours and see if we can finally have a season without constantly looking over our shoulders. Much depends on the takeover by.? and what players are left after the budget dictates who goes and who stays. You would not have put money on Dyche being manager after the Chelsea debacle but I guess he is likely to start the 2024-25 season. Not a fan of his style but who he brings in will tell us a lot about what kind of football we are going to be playing. Sad we missed out on Adam Wharton but hopefully the scouts have lined up some creativity from somwhere. My own feelings. to let go would include Harrison, Young, Keane if he is willing to take a pay cut and go. Gomez too. but some have to stay or we don't have a team. just a pity we probably won't see Branthwaite become a future Everton captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2024 20:18:00
couldn't agree more. We can relax now. Yes we will probably lose Branthwaite To balance the books, such a shame. Dyche deserves a medal when you think what he has had to put up with- Points deducted, 777 etc. don't fancy 777 to run the club. With any luck there might be more buyers interested now?

27 Apr 2024 21:54:50
Dyche bit of a soft lad. ' You were all desperate for Luton to win and us lose' bit of growing up to do yet Mr Dyche.

28 Apr 2024 14:57:32
Why does he deserve a medal? He’s paid very handsomely to do a job.
The only time he deserves a medal is when we actually win something. Then he would get a winners medal.

27 Apr 2024 19:46:37
Pickford carried on tonight from our last game excellent goal keeping.

{Ed025's Note - yeah he was very good GB..

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 14:58:35
Definitely made all the difference, and still people want to get rid of him.

27 Apr 2024 19:33:10
We have 'won' as many points as the much vaunted Brighton team. a lot of kudos to the players who have stepped up this season. Yes there was a dodgy spell after Xmas but this has to be seen as progress. Find a number 10 who works hard and unlocks defences and there's a glimmer of light from the dark tunnel.

27 Apr 2024 19:44:10
Spot on Cookie, absolutely delighted with the result and the turn around from the Chelsea game. With some good recruitment there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

28 Apr 2024 15:00:26
Players stepped up for a few games. Where have they been all season?

{Ed025's Note - thats what i ask myself Woburn..

27 Apr 2024 12:48:20
Cmon you Wolves.
