5.) 02 Aug 2016 15:47:13
That 'picture' is at the Academy and looks photoshopped as the Everton Sign is seen through the wall on the left hand side. Have a close look, this looks like a wind up.

6.) 02 Aug 2016 15:56:31
there are now pictures up of him signing, so there's no pictures bn photoshopped, he is now an everton player, let's hope he improves the team.

7.) 02 Aug 2016 16:12:56

interesting read by Daniel Storey,

patience is a virtue

Less than three weeks before Everton's first league game of 2015/ 16, supporters were expressing their outrage at the lack of investment in the club's first team. Tom Cleverley had arrived on a free transfer from Manchester United and Gerard Deulofeu arrived permanently from Barcelona, but the usual rumours has produced nothing concrete.

In the Daily Telegraph, Chris Bascombe wrote how 'Everton faced a ticking transfer time bomb as Roberto Martinez tried to defuse fans' frustrations', while fans protested on the streets outside the stadium in late August over the club's transfer market inactivity. 'Kenwright and the board, you're holding us back. If you love the club, set it free; we need investment, ' their banner read.

One year later, and not much has changed. The only addition to the playing staff from last season is Maarten Stekelenburg, a 33-year-old goalkeeper with 18 league starts since March 2014. Add the exits of Tim Howard, Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar, and it is no exaggeration to say that Everton's squad is weaker than in May. Both John Stones and Romelu Lukaku are both more likely to leave this summer than last, with the former finally to be granted the big-money move he craves.

Should Stones go, Everton's first-team squad will be reduced to 29, with untested youngsters accounting for seven of those positions. Of the remaining 22, Oumar Niasse, Darron Gibson, Aiden McGeady and Arouna Kone are generally unwanted. That leaves 11 starters and a bench of seven substitutes; cross your fingers for no injuries. Finally, 21-year-old Shani Tarashaj could feasibly be Romelu Lukaku's only back-up/ competition/ support. Have the lessons of last season not been learnt?

It's a funny thing, perception. For while last July and August 2015 brought pique and protest, Everton could reasonably be described as a feel-good club again. The appointment of Ronald Koeman from upwardly mobile Southampton stroked the ego of a support worried at how far their mighty had fallen; the bank balance of new owner Farhan Moshiri persuaded them that everything would be okay.

That doesn't change the reality, of course. The problem with Moshiri's wealth is that it increases expectation and ambition, but doesn't actually mean a great deal until some of the money is spent. Everton have been linked to Kalidou Koulibaly, William Carvalho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Juan Mata, Moussa Sissoko and Axel Witsel, but should be warned against shopping in an unrealistic market. Deals for Lamine Kone and Idrissa Gueye might not make mouths water, but Everton must avoid trying to sprint before pacing out the marathon course at walking pace.

Two weeks until the season begins with a home fixture against Tottenham, and one goalkeeper signed, yet the manager's mood of relaxation is mirrored across the club. "Things will start happening in the coming days and weeks, " Koeman said on Tuesday. "Everything will be fine. " What's more, supporters believe him.

While Koeman's appointment was a statement of intent from Everton, it is the arrival of Steve Walsh from Leicester that offers the most promise for the future. Walsh is the new Director of Football at Goodison, and will oversee the club's transfer activity in conjunction with the manager. The Director of Football role is still viewed with suspicion by some in English football, as is Walsh's own use of data analysis, but his work at Leicester makes for an overwhelming argument. Koeman's own experiences with Les Reed at Southampton were equally positive.

"It's really good for the club to have someone in Steve who has shown his quality in his job at a number of clubs over many years, " Koeman said after Walsh's appointment. "That's the experience and quality he will bring to us at a good time in the season. He has a great deal of knowledge about building for the long-term. "

It is that last phrase that best encapsulates the mood around Goodison: "Building for the long-term. " Everton have existed on the Premier League's periphery for so long that supporters are happy to remain patient in the search of sustainable success. When a sleeping giant has fallen into a semi-coma, waking it up is a slow process. With Walsh on board, Everton are aiming to be shrewd, not showy. That's the strategy that made them successful in the first place.

A lack of signings will always frustrate in an age where buying in rather than bringing through is the increasing norm; nobody wants to be spurned by Marko Arnautovic. Yet amid newspaper talk of £100m war chests and £30m signings, there lies a club laying the foundations for a brighter future. The bricks will come, in time.

What a brilliant piece of journalism. This is something that is more tangible and constructive than the rubbish that is in most news agencies about Everton at the moment.

2.) 28 Jul 2016 11:49:53
Exactly how I see it too mate. But then again. I am a miserable so and so!

3.) 28 Jul 2016 12:04:01
Fantastic post blue boy, that's bang on.

4.) 28 Jul 2016 12:23:02
Awesome BB69.

5.) 28 Jul 2016 12:23:13
You may get your best agrees here yet for the one Degs :)

6.) 28 Jul 2016 12:29:15
Not all the time Degsy and i know its all because you love the club bud.

7.) 28 Jul 2016 12:49:23
Yeah mate. Seen and heard it all before. I really do believe Steve Walsh is exactly what we needed. I also believe he will bring in one or two signings this window. then another couple next window. But Ido worry that so much damage was done in the last 3 years that things are not as good "right now" as most peple think. It is not being miserable. more realistic. I willbe the happiest man alive if I am wrong and will eat so much humble pie I will probably put on a couple of stone. Anyway, the important signings we need will be a couple of center backs and a couple of forward midfielders. oh and a central midfielder/ captain and a goal keeper. whoops. see what you mean!

8.) 28 Jul 2016 13:56:23
I really do not understand this comment about damage done the last 3 years.
Players have got older and some have left to be replaced by the youngsters that have been brought into the first team.
Maybe that was the plan was all along, you just don't know, you are just speculating.

9.) 28 Jul 2016 14:19:49
Fantastic post blueboy69. Also agree with sidutton.

10.) 28 Jul 2016 15:18:48
Get ready to buy elasticated pants Degsy!

11.) 28 Jul 2016 16:55:26
I am not speculating, Sidutton. I am stating facts. Things that are real. eg Osman, Pienaar, Hibbert were all coming to the end. Jags also had limited playing time left. Distin too. RM came in and immediately sold Anichebe. Then replaced him with Kone. Kone had very little left to offer. He also signed Alcaraz. Another with little time left. Then he signed Barry. At the same time, all the other players in the squad were ageing. Howard was coming to the end. When you look at it with all this in mind, Baines and Gibson will need replacing in a couple. That's 8 regular first team players and I remember that was the figure I gave to Swan 2 or 3 years ago. You are right that we have lots of upand coming youth players, but not 8. And certainly some will not make the grade. Yes Besic, McCarthy, Lukaku, Cleverly were all brought in. but so were Niasse and McGeady (not old but maybe not good enough? ) . If you do the sums, the squad has aged tremendously with players ready for the first team. If you now add in Stones' iminent departure, the problem is compounded. That is why I say damage was done in the last 3 years. In my opinion we might get 2 or 3 youngsters making the first team. But that still leaves this squad very short of cover, first team quality and weaker than many others in the Premier League. All I say is factual except for the last bit which is my opinion.

12.) 28 Jul 2016 16:56:47
Just out of interest. which youngsters are first team regulars?

13.) 28 Jul 2016 17:49:54
I never said 1st team youngsters I said brought into the 1st team
Okay I've bitten so I'll play along.
Off the top of my head
Dowell, Davies, Kenny, Pennington, Garbutt, Tarashej, Galloway, that's seven to replace your 8 and I believe we have signed a keeper this year so your arguement doesn't hold water, 8 players to replace your 8 players.
Out of all the people you mention Howard was the only regular and as I've said there are players coming through.
Not quite so doom and gloom!

14.) 28 Jul 2016 18:09:11
The keeper is 33.so is another "older" player. If we get 8 regular youngsters in the first team through our youth policy, it will be the first time since Manchester United did it with the Beckham, Scholes, Nevilles etc. I just cat see it happening mate. as much as I wouldlove it. I answered your question with facts. Your answer to mine is speculation. And to show something else. you say Howard was the only regular. which actually makes my point all the more acurate. Damage wasdone by signing ageing players and players that were simply not good enough. Shall we leave it at that? By the way I am not all gloom and doom. Like I said, I believe Steve Walsh is exactly what we needed and the reversal of the last 3 years damage has begun!

15.) 28 Jul 2016 18:22:06
Degsy, let it go, let it go! The only damage done in last three years was Martinez's bad tactics and team selection.

This group of players will be much better under Koeman. I'm convinced. We have plenty of youngsters coming through. Some will make it. Not all but some. This along with new signings by our new Fab recruitment team along with the players we have should be enough. I believe all these things will ensure we progress in the right way.

16.) 28 Jul 2016 19:12:31
I really hope you are right NBTB. I do suspect otherwise. We will see how things progress, but I think we need quite a few signings. Why should I not say that? If you look at how many points we took off top 6 sides last seaason, it was not many. We will have to show fantastic improvements all round to end up in that group of teams. There was 5 wins. We only won 12 all season. that's a nearly 50% improvement needed. Time will tell and I sincerely hope you are right. I will be happy with top half at this stage. and that's being realistic not miserable.

17.) 28 Jul 2016 19:17:06
Sorry 16 points not 15.It was 15 the season before. So we need 5 wins and a draw from our losses of last season.

18.) 28 Jul 2016 19:32:55
Degsy, I understand what you are saying but, Alcarez and Distin have now left the club, Barry has been our most consistent player the last couple of years.
You forgot to mention that he also signed Tarashaj, Holgate, Henen for the future and I would hardly say that McCarthy Cleverly, Lukaku, and Delofeuo, Besic are old and need replacing just yet.
Okay Kone I will give you, but although he signed some older players he brought in younger players aswell, it's just you seem to have a slanted view of things.

19.) 28 Jul 2016 20:03:04
Degsy you've made your point about your opinions on aging players, the past 3 years, midfielders scoring 1 goal a year a thousand times. Now all 'this is fact' is making you sound like Benitez when he had a meltdown about Ferguson 😂😂😂
Just take some very good advice from your fellow blues Let it go. Wait until we've played a few games (10-15) and let's see how the season is panning out. You might be pleasantly surprised. COYB!

20.) 28 Jul 2016 21:25:42
Degsy the Everton rumours Dave Whelan strikes again.

21.) 28 Jul 2016 22:02:26
Ok guys. Point taken. But after 10 to 15 games (probably less will give us all an idea) if/ when I say "told you so". no getting wound up. Even though I know you all support the Blues as much as me, I think I am more of a realist. I will be delighted to eat humble pie in front of all of you if I am wrong. Absolutely delighted! I will apologise and grovel and be very embarrassed! It has to go both ways guys!

22.) 28 Jul 2016 23:51:42
I'll start baking now Degsy because I have no doubt things will be a lot better this season. You said you'd be happy with top half.

My prediction being realistic is top 10 at the very worst. Honestly I think somewhere between 6th and 9th. No point comparing last season. We have a whole different set up now. Team will be refreshed and much better.

Del boy will excel in striker role along side Rom. Dream couple. Mirallas will be brilliant this season. I feel it in my bones. It was no secret he didn't get on with Martinez. He was totally under used last season.

Imagine the attack being better with those 2 along with a better defence. Definitely a couple of places higher with that alone.

Your entitled to voice your opinion obviously Degsy. IMHO you place too much emphasis on the players and not enough on the manager. We had the players to do better last season.

They were just being told to do the wrong things and weren't prepared properly. The video footage of Baines going mad at half time proved that he and others weren't happy.

Don't care what anyone says Martinez lost the dressing room towards the end of last season. That downward trajectory of the team was happening for awhile and affected our results.

That's my opinion anyway. You don't have to agree with them. I'll get back to baking for you Degsy because Koeman and Walsh will ensure you have plenty of humble pie to eat in a few months.

23.) 29 Jul 2016 07:38:33
Actually, NBTB you are starting to make me believe mate. I do agree about him losing the dressing room. That was obvious. Ilook forwards to hearing all about those baking skills. I always thought of you as a bit of a master baker! lol.

26 Jul 2016 13:47:48
look please stop panicking, I know its hard being an evertonian, but please trust the new regime and what they are doing behind the scenes, so far we have been linked almost every player that has been on the move, witsel, sissoko, etc etc etc total spend about 300mil lol, no one knows what is going on, least of all the media. they had us sold to john moores who had exclusive rights to us, 2 days later sold to mosheri. just have faith.

Hi eds, and all fellow fans

not been on for a while.
just heard that the board meeting held on Friday, was to discuss the fallen 1s post, voted 3 to 1 to keep him in his position until January 17, voted for him to stay was BK, JW, RE, Alexander Ryazantsev voting to remove him under Farhed orders. any truth in this

Thank.

blueboy69

{Ed002's Note - No. It sounds like the sort of nonsense that people put on Twitter for the extremely gullible fans. Board meetings do not sit and vote like it was considering someones membership at a golf club.}

1.) 04 May 2016 14:40:20
If, as reported, Mr Moshiri will increase his shareholding to become the majority (over 50%) shareholder - while BK (and maybe JW) not only reduce their shareholding, but also have less day-to-day involvement with the club and perhaps even cease to be directors - then why would the board retain any staff that are not favoured by Mr Moshiri and his associates? Besides, if there is a preferred replacement for manager - who would surely be someone in demand if he became available - then why would the club risk missing out?
It's all just rumour, speculation, guesswork and craic that's fuelled by social media and encouraged by broadcast/ press media. Only those at the top of the club - and any experts they're consulting - would have an inkling and I would expect all those involved to keep matters in confidence until the club is ready to state was has been agreed to take the club toward on all fronts, both on and off the field.
It's frustrating - and sometimes enraging - that we fans don't "know" what's happening, but on balance I prefer the club - and any experts/ consultants it's using - to be acting professionally and diligently and keeping their mouths shut rather than acting in a cavalier fashion and casually leaking stories to the media.
Am I being too understanding and accepting?

2.) 04 May 2016 14:43:18
only what I heard, Ed2. I would prefer it sooner than that myself, Really tried to buy into his optimism when he 1st took charge but boy he has worn me down lol.

3.) 04 May 2016 19:10:27
There is no evidence that Mr Martinez is leaving the Club in fact the opposite is true. All that has happened is that the media have (as usual) been playing with their abacus and gathered 2 and 2 make 5. Martinez would have to be thick or naive to conduct his interview with Carragher in the manner he did, if he had knowledge of his Managerial demise.

30 Jun 2015 07:46:59
What is it where our players get linked to other clubs ie Coleman, stones, that's fine but £35 mil combined price do me a favour that should be for 1. if sterling can command a fee around £50 mil, oh wait he plays for the reds and the only play for lowly skint Everton, get a grip Everton slap a no sale at any price show some balls.

Blueboy69

1.) 30 Jun 2015 08:45:56
I wouldn't worry its just speculation and the press guessing because there is no fact! I don't believe for one minute RM has any intention of selling two young up and coming star defenders! We put our own valuation on their heads because we see what the market dictates at other clubs, ie Shaw £30m Ramos muted at £29m.
