Obviously Galtier, Moyes or Kovac would've been lovely, but very unrealistic.

So we are left with Pereira, Lampard and Martinez at a push. None are ideal. One has already failed with us, the other hasn't done much in 10 years and the other has some positives but obviously isn't ideal.

I suppose in that case Lampard makes the most sense? Let's hope Rooney keeps improving as a manager, because he will be our manager one day if he does.

When complaining about Carlo's brand of football and all the training ground stuff about not being fit and all that.

It really does show that there are levels, Carlo is levels above Rafa, Silva and Koeman tactically.

Don't know what you have until it's gone comes to mind.

Let's hope the next manager can do something, but we need a DOF and to build from there.

{Ed0666's Note - how does lampard make the most sense Swan?

All things considered, Lampard would be my pick too, Swan.

We need a miracle to stay up, we are in such a hole, and I don't think there is anyone at the club who can stop the slide downwards. We have the players to improve but the owner and board are so rotton to the core that it is translating to the performances on the pitch. How do we get put of this? Everton are a proud traditional club who don't deserve such poor management, we are in real danger of becoming Sunderland. I know that sounds pessimistic, but actually its realism. Moshiri isn't getting his money back any time soon, so I guess we are stuck with him which depresses me even more as he is a walking disaster when it comes to his role at our beloved club.

Because Martinez has already failed with us. Pereira is clearly being used by his agent/ spokesperson or whatever his name is that is in Moshiri’s ear. He’s already alienated the fans with his Sky interview. Not to mention that he’s not done much in a long time.

Do least worst is Lampard.

Lampard OK for me but for how long? He will jump ship when a London club comes calling. I still think Martinez would be a good fit. For longevity I would go for Potter.

What London club?

{Ed025's Note - i think what hes saying brass is that if a london club came in for him he may be tempted due to having southern roots, and most of his family are from down that way mate..

I wouldn't worry about that - reckon we'll have forced him out before a London club comes in for him.

As for the relegation talk, I've said before I'm baffled where that comes from on here? Everyone was furious with the job Rafa was doing - we had significant injuries first half of season and yet if we just match the points we got in first 19 games we'll stay up, so how can anyone be concerned about relegation now that Rafa has gone and the squad is fully fit barring doucoure for a couple of weeks?

It’s arrogance to think we won’t go down just because some players are returning from injury.

Swan we were 11th with Martinez, he hadn't failed. Moshri was new in, mistakenly thought a big name meant competence and has been that way since. Thanks to Ed, we now understand (sort of) Moshri's seeming erratic approach.

Martinez did fail though? He had us from 5th to 11th. That’s a failure.

I didn't say we won't go down swan, when Rafa was here I was critical of the players. Many people felt it was all Rafas fault and not the players - so I was merely pointing out that it's strange that some of those people think we might go down now, when Rafa has gone and all the players are fit!

Cannot believe the mess, what a shockingly crap shortlist. Lampard stole a living a Chelsea, Rooney has been managing in the Championship for 5 mins, albeit competently and Pereira seems one of Kia’s pawns. Then, on top of all that, we were linked with Roberto Martinez, a man hounded out of the club by fans and deemed not good enough by Moshiri. I’ve you’re running a circus, expect clowns.
