DCL to Newcastle for £25 million. Apparently that would alleviate psr issues. I'd much rather sell him than Braithwaite or Pickford.

I agree, Pickford has kept us up, has been amazing and Branthwaite is best young defender in England. DCL hasn’t played so it’s not as if we will miss him.

{Ed025's Note - i think we will him big time Swinners..

Agree with ED, we will miss him, he was getting closer and closer to his best as the season closed out, and at his best he's worth twice that. Would rather we got rid of Onana before the rest of the world realises how overrated he is. Don't think we would miss him at all.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is ONE is that he is by miles the best forward we have, the fact that he was plying a lone furrow most of the time did not help him one bit mate, if Dyche was more pragmatic and had someone decent either along side him or just behind him then im sure we would see a quality forward, he holds up the ball well and is great in the air, myself i think he has had a bad press but i must say his injury record last season turned a lot of the supporters against him and all that prancing around in the fashion stakes did not help, but if he does go to say Newcastle with better service and better players around him i think we would regret letting him go..

He averages a goal every 4 games. when fit.

I would definitely rather lose DCL than Pickford or Jared. Simply for the fact that he would be easier to replace then they would. That isn't to say that I don't think we will miss DCL. He suits how SD wants to play. He is a decent forward, who can hold the ball up well and bring others into play. I will always question him as a finisher though, he is far from a natural one. I am yet to see him strike a ball with any technique or conviction in the 8 seasons he has played for us and he misses far too many chances he gets. He has 54 goals across 8 seasons. People absolutely hammer linked players like Che Adams for similar numbers but seem to overlook it when it comes to DCL. You could argue that those numbers would be better if it wasn't for injuries but you can't discount a players fitness and robustness when assessing them as a player. If they aren't on the pitch, then they aren't going to score.

20, nearly 40% of DCL's goals have been with his head. It is right to say that we don't have any wingers who can beat a man and cross the ball in the squad atm, so if we don't have those players that can facilitate his best chances of scoring, his numbers will expectedly take a hit. In terms of his goal contribution, is he irreplaceable, I don't think so.

I think that term can be used more appropriately to describe JP and Jared. Pickford has been our player of the season 3 seasons on the spin and he has probably been the most integral player for us in avoiding relegation. It is not just his ability as a keeper that we would be losing, it is his leadership and his connection to the fan base. He has come on leaps and bounds these last few seasons and even his biggest critics have started to notice it.

Jared would be another big miss. He partners Tarkowski brilliantly and offers great balance to the backline being predominantly left-footed. I think it is also worth noting that his value will only increase next season. There is a chance that he could have a part to play in this summers tournament, which again can only increase his value. We could let him go this summer for 60/ 70m and then next summer he could easily be talked about as a 100m + centre back. I think another season would do him the world of good and would allow him to learn the league that bit better and iron out any creases to his game.

If DCL was banging in 15/ 20 goals a season for us, it would be a no brainer to keep him. Goals are very hard to come by and us as a team show that more than any of them. The reason we stayed up this season is due to our defence and losing any of the 3 mainstays would disrupt it massively.

Could we sell DCL and find a 10 goal a season forward with similar attributes, yes I think we could. There are players from the lower leagues like Morris, Adebayo and Pedro who have the right attributes to come into this league and hold their own. There are unknowns like the fella Fulham picked up, Muniz. Then there are loans we could exploit from the top clubs with saturated squads e. g. Nketiah, Fofana etc.

In an ideal world we could keep all 3 of them but given our situation, I think I would rather lose Dom and Onana before JP and Jared.

With his contract being up next year do you know if there is a clause that we can extend it by a further year?
If he goes at least the club will make millions by selling maupauy shirts.

Do you think if true we are interested in newcastles winger he would be part of the deal £25 million and player aswell ????.

{Ed025's Note - i would not think so RON..

31 May 2024 07:05:18
I'd rather keep him, not just the goals but we just look better with him playing. Beto hasn't done what he was bought for. So I'd rather sell him and Onana tbh.

Asked before but does anyone know exactly how much we need to raise for PSR.

{Ed002's Note - No they don't know exactly.}
