I understand that financial circumstances may compell the club to sell Branthwaight, don't like it but that may be no option, but, please, please, please do not bring in Harry Maguire as the make weight, he is worse than Mikel Keane, by a county mile, either one would, on merit, struggle to get into a Sunday morning pub team .

Papers saying utd trying to use Maguire to tempt us into selling Branthwaite, please nooooooo.

Believable1 0Unbelievable

05 May 2024 11:53:26
Hopefully his wages alone would make that unlikely.

Agree1 0Disagree

05 May 2024 13:48:05
I actually think he would suit us TBH, but saying that it would be a no from me his age and wages alone and questionable form. But could see him doing well for us under Dyche if did happen, I'd rather we used whatever money we had and looked elsewhere but wouldn't be opposed to Maguire on a seasons loan with Utd stumping up majority of his vastly priced wages.

We need the cash - there’s no way we can include a player in the deal.

Too old, too clumsy, too expensive.

Agree0 0Disagree

05 May 2024 17:14:04
Definitely too expensive unless takes a 70+% cut. As a player? He'd be great for us. A goal scoring CB. Sure the style at UTD hasn't played to his strengths yet every time they've dumped him and hoped to off load him, he has fought his way back into match day and probably been their best defender even though they keep trying to dump him. In a low block side with only the front 3 occasionally doing a high press. He'd never be exposed. He is immense in the box and as a player i'd have him in a heartbeat. He'd actually be better than Branthwaite as Branthwaite has another 4 or 5 seasons of learning just like Stones did. Because he'd score us 5 or so goals a season and be just as solid. Have no idea how long his contract is and he'd probably stay until the end because wherever he goes he will never earn those numbers again A bit like when we had a load of players on 5 year contracts paying a fortune. You stay to the end. He probably retires from England after this summer too. I'd prefer us to risk it on another young up and coming player though and hope to strike gold again and get yet another massive profit in a couple of years.

I’d be happy with the approach of looking at young, up and coming players with a potential sell on value. I’d be very disappointed if we signed Maguire. Don’t rate him personally and he fits the old model of old, expensive signings, hope we steer well clear.

A another day another story.
Apparently an American chap by the name of Kevin Malone is flying in to take a look at us?
Used to run LA Dodgers, and has a consortium ready to step in.

Seems like Spuds are looking at Onana. Rickie apparently is surplus to requirements there, maybe a swap?
ManUre are looking at cash plus Maguire for Braithwaite (please God, not Harry) .

Can’t swap Onana for Ricky. We need money. Which is why swapping Branthwaite would also be a no brainier.

Hopefully what the Esk has tweeted is true. 777 will never end up taking the reins.

Seeing how the fans of clubs they already own receive them is a huge concern and as Ed has already pointed out, avoid them like the plague.

Leaves us in much deeper shot though doesn't it. MSP need repaying, 777 will need paying, god knows how many more creditors are out there. This is a CA who has chaired billions worth board's (Russian mate) . Some of the stuff my son explained (tried) to me sort of made sense the rest just dipped my head in a bucket of ice.

Chelsea have reportedly registered an interest in Jordan Pickford as they look to pounce on Everton's potential takeover chaos.

It begins.

Chelsea need to raise a chunk of cash before June 30th too, can’t see them buying Pickford before then.

Agree1 0Disagree

02 May 2024 10:27:22
Madness that some fans would see him go - he is one of the main reasons we’ve stayed in the league for so long.

Decent keepers are hard to come by and we’ve got one of the best in the league who has earned us several points with his vital saves yet fans happy for him to go - madness.

We all want Branthwaite to stay but if it’s between Pickford or him going then would have to say Branthwaite - he’s amazing and will only get better but will inevitably go, he also needs a decent centre half with him and if we get an injury to Tarkowski he’ll potentially struggle trying to support Keane or Godfrey beside him as well as playing his own game.

Branthwaite on his own won’t win us many points - however would argue Pickford would.

Dont want either to leave as think we should build a team around these types of players but years of mismanagement and ridiculous spending has put us in a position that prevents this.

Agree2 0Disagree

02 May 2024 11:56:37
Unfortunately the financial return on Branthwaite having only paid £1m for him is what is needed if we are to get anywhere close to further FFP points deductions next season.

I can see Onana, Branthwaite and Pickford leaving, as well as DCL as we are in a mess financially and those out of contract or with 1 year remaining, have very little worth.

Agree1 0Disagree

02 May 2024 13:35:06
Not sure it’s a case of wanting him to go. It’s needs must.

Agree1 0Disagree

02 May 2024 13:55:43
Agree that Chelsea are unlikely to be buying him, seems to be in the same boat as us still being linked with spending when we have no cash.
Obviously we would struggle to replace Pickford and Branthwaite would probably bring in double the amount. We probably need to sell everyone and their pets to break the downward spiral, I just don't see a team willing to spend on Pickford. He's too good for a relegation fight but he's not a champions league quality.

Agree2 0Disagree

02 May 2024 14:34:17
He's absolutely CL quality. Baffling opinion absolutely baffling.

Agree2 0Disagree

02 May 2024 15:05:37
Not champions league quality? He’s currently sitting second in the golden glove race having kept 12 clean sheets this season.

He’s ahead of Ederson, Onana and Becker all keepers who are or have recently been playing champions league football. All players who are playing in better teams than us.

Unbelievable the lack of acknowledgment Pickford gets.

02 May 2024 17:39:17
I posted about this the other day. I think Pickford is still tarred with the same brush from a few years ago. His maturity and consistency is night and day to then and the mistakes he makes are once every blue moon.

He is still a good age. He is 2 clean sheets off the golden glove and when you take into account the fact he is in a far worse team than Raya, it is testament to the season Pickford has had.

According to PL stats, Raya has faced 41 shots this season with 3 errors leading to goals. Compare that to Pickfords 112 shots faced and 1 error leading to a goal. Allison, arguably considered the best keeper in the league has faced 75 shots this season with 2 errors leading to goals.

To say Pickford isn't CL quality when he is putting up these comparable numbers and is also playing in major national tournament finals and semi finals is a bit silly imo. Put him in a City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and the picture would be very different.

He is under contract until 2027. If a team wants him then we shouldn't be looking at anything below £50 million.

Eds do any of you know why moshiri hasn't started talking yo other potential buyers yet will all this poltava going on with 777 and do you know who the other interested parties are.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously he has spoken with MSP.}

Believable0 0Unbelievable

01 May 2024 17:20:46
Is there anymore parties interested though ed.

{Ed002's Note - To the best of my knowledge efforts have been made to find other investors without luck. Mid May or late May if 777 get a further extension.}

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 17:41:59
Ed you’re sensible and knowledgeable - have you any idea why moshiri is still entertaining 777 taking us over?

They’ve had 8 months to do it but we appear no further along and still haven’t had premier league clearance - to the majority of people looking in at the situation it clearly looks like it’ll never happen and if does will be a massive failure, so why is he still entertaining the idea?

{Ed002's Note - Moshiri does not have anyone else willing to pay for his shareholding. MSP looked originally at a 25% shareholding but if the debt is not paid in May then they have the option to take effective control. Finding another buyer given the huge debts will be the reason nobody is keen.}

Afternoon Ed's,

Hope you are all keeping well.

There is a lot of uncertainty hanging over us atm with regards to finances, takeover etc.

I have just read 'The Esk's' tweet and was wondering if you could provide any clarity on it.

"Those "waiting in the wings" continue to be ready to support/ acquire the club at the appropriate time, which is not too far away".

Does this mean that there are other potential buyers out there that are waiting for the 777 deal to fall through and then they will perhaps make Moshiri an offer and would they be prepared to take on the ridiculous amount of debt the club has?

Appreciate the response.

{Ed002's Note - 777 want two of the MSP investors to join their bid and ease some of the debt owed to MSP. They will trade shares in the club, the stadium and will let them have the two seats on the board promised to MSP. They want to trade this against £200M of the £550M owed in total to satisfy Government concerns. RMF are owed more than this (circa £225M) but are not pressing as they are getting 10% interest on the debt and the debt is secured against Goodison Park and other local assets. MSP is the reason for the mid May date when 777 Partners must have the funds in ESCROW to pay the MSP debt, and fund the club to the end of the season. MSP could effectively go back to Moshiri with another offer - but they will look to a controlling interest. I can only assume Esk is referring to MSP. 777 Partners want to slip the mid May deadline until the end of May.}

01 May 2024 16:38:51
Thank you for the info Ed, much appreciated.

In your opinion, would MSP be a better outfit to take control of the club as opposed to the risk of 777, as you have mentioned previously?

{Ed002's Note - Most certainly - I would not go near 777 Partners.}
