Hi ed, any truth in the Joao Mario links? Cheers.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - Expensive and a maybe at best. Joao Mario would move to England and there is a bit of interest but no hands far and deep enough from any right.}

1.) 06 Aug 2018 08:21:48
Another one coming for the money Ed002? Or is he genuinely wanting to stand out in this league?

{Ed002's Note - He wants to move to England and money is a large part of it no doubt.}

Digne a done deal?

Hi ed. If Mina goes to Lyon ed slightly disappointed if he does would you expect us to go back in for Ben Gibson who you've mentioned a few times this summer? Haven't seen much of him since Boro went down and don't know if he'd suit. Think with the new style, we need a ball playing centre half and I'm not sure either way if Gibson can. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - I think it would be a reasonable assumption.}

1.) 24 Jul 2018 18:15:55
Is there any other centre backs of interest to the club if we have cooled on Vida mate?

{Ed002's Note - Ben Gibson remains of interest. There are also plenty available for loan.}

2.) 24 Jul 2018 18:41:05
If it's true he said he'd rather play for Lyon then we should immediately look elsewhere.
We need to sign players with a desire to play for us!
Don't offer more money or higher wages, just find players that want to pull on the blue shirt.
I think this season will hinge on players who have a desire and willingness to play for Everton fc.
It's going to be a long, slow process to rebuild our great club and we need players who are committed through desire not money.
Just my opinion but we need to see 100% effort from players rather than players using us as a pay day or stepping stone.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree pauly mate..

Hi ed, you mentioned the other day that our current offer for Mina was deemed unacceptable, I was wondering if we have got back in with an improved bid. Seems there is still clubs interested like you said but was wondering if the deal is progressing well to get him or is he still waiting for Barcelona to tell him whether he is surplus or not. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about "deals" "progressing well". Sorry. He has to leave Barcelona.}

1.) 23 Jul 2018 18:06:05
This is a rumour page as are others, edited by people (often quite knowledgeable - well far more than I - and with contacts) freely of their own time. Some of you ask a question, it is answered quite honestly and with clarity by them (eds) and you (some) take umbrage. The mind boggles.

{Ed025's Note - mine certainly does ktf..

Hi ed, hope your weekend has started well mate. Just wondering if you have any insight on a move for Digne. Seems a decent player. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - It is interesting Joe, but I cannot really help much. I am not aware of Everton making any approach for Lucas Digne but the player finds himself in a difficult situation. He has made it clear that he does not want to leave Barcelona but unless he gets regular game time he will have to. Barcelona are financially in a very difficult situation forced to some extent by an entirely separate issue. They also do have transfer plans themselves but have little cash income or planned payments coming in that they can borrow against, so they are willing to sell a number of players. They also have the need to move on at least one more non-EU player to meet quotas (Yerry Mina is one as we have discussed). All of this adds up to their need to move players on in order to do much in the transfer market, and left back is one position where they are looking to make changes - but it is not the highest priority. As for Digne, he is very much a defensive left back rather than a wing back - perhaps not really what Everton need.}

Thank you ed, much appreciated.

2.) 21 Jul 2018 12:41:52
I can’t understand why we would turn our noses up at 25m for Tierney but chucking 22m for an unsettled Digne? Seems mad.

3.) 21 Jul 2018 15:33:10
I remember ed saying for a couple years Barcelona had cash problems, how come they were willing to pay such inflated and risky fees on dembele and coutinho after the neymar transfer instead of saving it to ease the cash problems?

Hi fellas, hope you are all well haven't been on a while but still been reading the posts. Too early to say how this season will go, having been at Goodison for our home games it's mostly been poor but I know there is the need for patience and time to gel. I have confidence that Silva is the right fit and I can't wait to see Mina come into the side. But I'm absolutely gutted seeing tonight's result, having not seen my team lift a trophy in my whole life and the completely dismal performances year on year in this cup makes me so angry. Wouldn't say it's winnable but if we'd played our strongest side we win tonight, Silva made a huge mistake. I just don't get why the lack of hunger from the club comes from to end the trophy drought. Anyway, as bad as life as a blue gets, onwards to Leicester on Saturday. Need to continue the momentum in the league.

toffeejoe

{Ed025's Note - hiya joe, yeah mate massive faux pas by silva last night, but i will forgive him if we win our next 5 games mate..

1.) 03 Oct 2018 22:54:20
Am hacked off with all this rosy glasses crap. 'Oh but aren't we playing nice football'. Football is conpetetive in case you missed it. A Benitez or the lad fron Bournmouth would have us flying. Don't know what sone of you watch but that was awful and against an awful opposition.

2.) 04 Oct 2018 07:47:12
if you are hacked off by the rose tinted glasses crap just think how we all feel having to listen to all you doom and gloom merchants

PS what has Howe done or won? He plays pretty football but is all at sea defensively - maybe that's why he likes the south coast and moved back there as soon as he could. Benitez has done nothing at Newcastle, didn't want a Director of Football to work with him and gets advice from Allardyce when it comes to attacking football

At the end of the day though both are not our manager, Silva is. Moshiri took his own advice, not Bill Kenwright's, not yours, not mine so why don't you do as you say you would and support him and the team instead of moaning all the time or is your opinion the only thing that matters to you

I guess I am what you called a sycophant - right after you said you didn't condone insults because of your high standards?

Hi, hope you're well mate. Been in London for the last week so haven't really been keeping up to date with goings on. Sounds like Gibson is going to Burnley and Mina is not happening. Do you have any news on incomings regards to centre backs or midfielders? Cheers mate.

Didn't watch tonight's game, fortunately for me! From what I've read and what I've seen in the previous fixtures, Keane is not good enough. I think we need a complete revamp of the defence with two centre backs and Digne coming in. On the bright side it's still pre season, if we get battered by Valencia then it's time to worry for the Wolves game. Fingers crossed with new additions and time to gel, we will be ready.

Good luck Davy, a proper professional who we all wanted to succeed. A lot of blame for me falls to Koeman and Walsh but he just couldn't prove it at EPL level. Wish him all the best for the future.

22 Jul 2018 21:12:05
Is Michael Keane good enough🤔.

toffeejoe

1.) 22 Jul 2018 21:28:05
Nope, so far. he hasn’t been good enough and he certainly hasn’t shown any value for 30mil. It’s sticks in the throat that Harry Maguire was around 18mil too 🤢.

2.) 22 Jul 2018 21:37:15
Hope he can develop under Silva but he makes too many mistakes for my liking and doesn't look comfortable as a ball playing centre half. Maybe holgate would be a better option alongside our new centre half.

3.) 22 Jul 2018 21:58:29
Still unsure about him think he needs a settled partner next season who complements his style hope it's Mina but hearing Lyon are looking at him now.

4.) 22 Jul 2018 22:30:33
Yeah I think the Champions league pull will scupper us with the Columbian. Fingers crossed because he'd be a major upgrade and one that will score lots of goals too but always a nervy moment when a team playing in a glamorous competition comes knocking.

Hi Ed, what seems to be the difficulty with the Mina deal. Is he holding on due to his options, possibly seen Manchester United and Lyon linked. Or is it because we still haven't gave a Barcelona an acceptable offer? Feels like it's been dragging on and possibly best if we move on to Gibson. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - There is no difficulty. Barcelona want a sizable sum and the player wants to understand his options.}

Now an apparent 22 million bid for Digne. Either we're getting the fire going or just more garbage. Ill wait til I see them at Finch Farm if I'm honest.

Was about to post the same mate, there is definitely a player there. Get him alongside Tosun and they could form a clever partnership. Just needs a couple of goals to kick on, really hopes he's given a chance. You bring back in Gylif, Gueye, Walcott, Pickford and Richarlison and I think our tempo will increase and we'll start to play some decent stuff. That defence needs sorting though as soon as. Would love RLC too.
