Ed's, I see us linked with a lot of names in the papers. But realistically, can we really expect much business this summer given the current financial crisis and our existing FFP issues? .

{Ed002's Note - Everything is a little in the air whilst Carlo assesses what he needs, but thyere is continued influence over Mr Moshiri from advisors. I think the club will need to look for a CB and a S as the priority. Much will depend on who leaves and of course the likes of Yannick Bolasie will return from loan and line up with the collection of LW players.}

1.) 24 Apr 2020 12:28:45
How do theses influences sit with Carlo?

{Ed002's Note - As long as he has a say it may not be a major problem. Much of his career has been in Italy where coaches tend not to be overly involved in transfers and many clubs use advisors who are well briefed. Klopp was persuaded to move for Salah over his three preferred options and that worked out well. Manchester United have someone trustworthy on the staff who drives decisions. The difference at Everton is the advice is going to the owner from people who are not experts.}

2.) 24 Apr 2020 13:16:23
would these include brands, who i assumed was more than qualified to assess possible new signings?

{Ed002's Note - Brands expertise is not being exploited at Everton.}

3.) 24 Apr 2020 19:52:08
Dixie; Brands field of so-called 'expertise' is narrow, more toward bringing through potential. His model is more long term. Problem being our (Everton) renowned impatience.

4.) 24 Apr 2020 21:34:43
It certainly looks like they are not experts ed . thanks for the info.

{Ed002's Note - Bill C is correct - Brands’ expertise is based on structure and time.}

5.) 25 Apr 2020 14:51:22
Clearly these advisors can’t see past the left wing with all that we sign and are interested in!

15 Mar 2020 11:21:22
With regards to our FFP issues, do the eds know if there have been discussions within the EPL as to the impact the postponement of the season will have on this? . Will clubs be given special dispensation given it will undoubtedly affect the profit/ losses of clubs? .

{Ed002's Note - A very good question. It has not been discussed yet but there is a meeting on Tuesday at UEFA where it is one of the items on the agenda and my gut feeling is they will cut some slack - in which case the Premier League will likely follow suit. I don't know what format it will take. The Premier League rules are way less stringent in any case.}

1.) 15 Mar 2020 12:28:35
Ed with all the uncertainty the postponement has caused, it seems Manchester citys problems have slipped off the back pages, are they to be discussed at the meeting, or will it be case of it being low priority at the moment, the two year ban from Europe I suspect has been given simply so they can halve it on appeal.

{Ed002's Note - No, the Manchester City appeal is not to UEFA and won't be heard before next season starts.}

29 Jan 2020 17:04:35
Barcelona circling Richarlison. it's squeaky bum time.

1.) 29 Jan 2020 17:09:24
Sky Sports saying we have rejected an £85m bid from them.

2.) 29 Jan 2020 17:13:28
We've rejected a 85 million pound or 100m euro bid from Barac for richarlison hoping we stand firm.

3.) 29 Jan 2020 17:16:16
put it this way, if Richarlison was playing across the Park the bid would be well over £100 Million, so unless they come back with a much bigger bid, I would tell them to do one.

4.) 29 Jan 2020 17:25:11
Rejected 85 mill and seen pics of him at a kids event today and looks happy enough end of story for me.

5.) 29 Jan 2020 17:31:53
Depends if a much bigger bid comes in, we are close to our ffp, would Everton Soares be a replacement with cash Left over to spend, if a ridiculous offer came in.

6.) 29 Jan 2020 17:47:28
Whether he's happy here or not, a player will almost always want to move to Barca, it's definitely squeaky bum time. If there offer hits £100m which isn't much of an improved offer then it may sadly happen. Hopefully we can try to get someone from them in return, another loan to buy.

7.) 29 Jan 2020 17:50:02
1st bid. If they want him they'll be back.

8.) 29 Jan 2020 17:50:52
Or how about we sell for 50 Million with a buy back clause for the same, bring in Soares for £30 Million, then when Niasse, Martina, Tosun and a few others are off the wage bill, buy him back. One way of getting round our ffp.

9.) 29 Jan 2020 18:06:18
Hahahaha if only Bignev!

10.) 29 Jan 2020 18:08:40
That won’t happen bignev. Think his agent would allow that in a contract? Go to biggest club in world only to come back a year later for mid table in prem.

He deserves to play in CL and we are nowhere near it. No closer than when Martinez was here 4 managers ago.

I guess we will get about 100 million for him.

We are a selling club (stones, lakaku, Rooney, arteta, fellani prove that)

We need somehow to get into elusive CL positions - even then if Barcelona come knocking we will have no say.

If we could get samefdo or wague on loan as part of deal that would be good business.

11.) 29 Jan 2020 20:46:03
Not being funny but haven't commented in this for ages due to forgot password but read a lot. That comment above sobs newcastle, your saying he deserves a cl club, he's 22 he deserves everton football club. He's just signed a 5 year deal he's going no where and if he did I would be devastated as if we are going to get anywhere near champions league then he needs to stay.

All of the above apart from lukaku was basically before moshiri and we was skint. And lukaku was banging 20+ a season and he wanted to go. We knew that anyway when has richy inclined he's not happy or wants to move on to early. He's 22 and wouldn't have signed a new deal if he was desperate to make the next step.

12.) 29 Jan 2020 21:25:34
Is the next step not Barcelona - do you expect him to have 5yrs in mid table. Sorry but your not being realistic.
I’d love him to stay but put yourself in his shoes - could be a once in a life time chance.
If we were 4th or 5th we still would struggle but we are out of both cups - not qualifying for Europe - can’t sign players - we are not too attractive.
I know it’s negative but it is realistic.

You can add Gueye on that list who also left for CL.

13.) 29 Jan 2020 22:04:30
Sobs - I think based on our current situation TRANMERE would be the next step!
Barcelona is a triple jump away 😂.

14.) 29 Jan 2020 22:05:01
The next step is Barcelona or someone like that but he’s not ready and he wouldn’t of signed a new deal if he wanted to get off. He knows the clubs ambitious and we now have Ancelotti who is a better coach than Barca’s? I just don’t think he will go anywhere for atleast 18months and we would be stupid not to keep him. If he scores 20 goals next season fair enough he’s proven he’s ready and we will get even bigger money for him. The club have said rumours aren't true anyway. When Barcelona come calling and the player wants to move there’s not much you can do look at Liverpool. But Suarez it was now or never, Richarlison has age on his side and he’s a blue! Fingers cross COYB.

15.) 29 Jan 2020 22:08:47
Also gueye how old was he when he left, smells like now or never to me also.

16.) 30 Jan 2020 08:38:10
Stones, Lukaku, Arteta and Rooney WANTED to go.

17.) 30 Jan 2020 20:14:49
I don’t remember stones, arteta, lescott, fellaniI, Rooney - further back graviton, barmby, Ross Jeffers, Xavier etc. Wanting to leave until a big club came asking.

I think Guaye was professional and I imagine we kept him for one more season with agreement he could leave at the end. Lakaku was a disgrace as was Ross
I struggle to think of anyone we have kept - Coleman to Man Utd possibly.
Even speed + Ferguson went to bloody newcastle.

18.) 30 Jan 2020 20:42:35
Who says Richarlison doesn't want to leave? Maybe he wasn't thinking about it but when a team like Barcelona comes in for him it's got to make him think.

Signing a new contract doesn't mean he's staying either, just means he has the decency to allow our club to get a decent transfer value for him.

19.) 30 Jan 2020 21:21:18
Look at countinho, the grass isn’t always greener! What I’m saying is he’s only young and does anyone think he would walk into there team? Or do you think he would be better off waiting until he’s a proven player and then leave? Maybe I’m just to hopeful or maybe that’s what I’d do I don’t know. Every player you lot are mentioning was before we had money, before we had any ambition. Half the players wouldn’t of signed pre moshiri. Rooney was prob are best sale we could have easily of gone down without selling him I’m sure that’s how we started to sign the likes of Cahill and arteta for 1.25m and 2m? Players who served us well and deserved there next step. Lukaku was never going to stay he was too good for us at the time but imagine he had stayed, we wouldn’t of signed klassan Sandro or maybe Sigurdsson. I’ll shut up now I could go on forever.

25 Jan 2019 18:32:53
Hey Ed, wondering if there was any news on Gueye, is he staying is he going? . Newspapers change their minds every 5 mins, know oundaid there was interest from PSG but has anything concrete materialised?

{Ed025's Note - not as far as i know gibbo mate..

13 May 2017 11:14:39
Did we put a bid in for tielemans ed? I'm hearing he's signed for Monaco which is a shame.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained this on a number of occasions - try the search engine.}

Gbamin 🤦🏻‍♂️.

1.) 28 May 2020 21:25:35
We’re back!

2.) 28 May 2020 22:07:09
Ed’s, do clubs have insurance policy’s that cover player injuries? .

{Ed002's Note - Each player is insured individually.}

3.) 28 May 2020 23:17:49
just as he was on road to get a match under his belt he gets injured just wish speedy recovery for the lad.

16 May 2020 16:45:54
Does anybody know what Gbamin's injury progress is? . Is it possible we may see him before the end of the season given the delay? . (Provided the EPL resumes)

{Ed002's Note - The last press release said he will be eased in to training slowly when the players return and be assessed.}

1.) 17 May 2020 18:02:04
I remember reading an article a while back although I don’t remember all the specifics. From what I remember it had comment from a surgeon ( don’t remember if it was his) .

He said it was the worst non leg break injury he had seen in his career. The muscle pretty much detached from his bone.

The truth is he may never fully recover. I’ve seen some fans slating/ blaming are medical department for their lack of haste.

That’s nonsense imo. It was a freak accident nothing more and if surgery can be avoided clubs generally always explore that fully.

2.) 17 May 2020 19:50:07
They bought a player that on his day was extremely good then he fell into the injury trap. Not a case of blaming the clinical staff at Everton but it is a case being justified to blame those that authorised a bid on an already injured player.

3.) 18 May 2020 00:00:04
As far as I know his injury record was fine wasn’t it?

05 Jan 2020 17:56:33
I'm off to see Jack Whitehall now, any of his jokes will pale in comparison to what Everton just produced.

1.) 05 Jan 2020 18:02:45
Yes but at least you can laugh at Whitehall's jokes.

There's not one Everton supporter who isn't crying watching these jokers parade around in blue shirts.

16 Oct 2019 17:33:37
Gbamin out for another 3 months, goes from bad to worse 🤦🏻‍♂️.

1.) 16 Oct 2019 21:38:56
When it rains, it pours.

2.) 16 Oct 2019 23:03:34
I blame the Black cat, it has cursed us big time :-)

3.) 17 Oct 2019 10:48:44
Could get worse Lewis Gibson’s contract is up in the Summer, he is one good centre half, who we may end up losing for nothing, if we do not get our finger out.

{Ed002's Note - A couple of minor injuries, and game time has dried up so the player has to consider options which include old club Newcastle, Southampton, Brighton and Rangers.}

4.) 17 Oct 2019 12:40:32
Which is why BigNev said the Club should get its finger out. Gibson is a very very good player.

5.) 18 Oct 2019 11:23:57
gibson go in the summer, with everton actively (and publicly) shwoing their interest in a centre half, gibson falls further down the pecking order, he feels he's ready now after a taste of it in the summer, if he can't get in now with that clown michael keane playing every game, what chance does he have when they sign even more cnetre halves?

30 Jul 2019 13:19:39
Just a quick query for the ed's, more out of interest and curiosity really. How do currency exchange rates effect future instalments of transfers? . If we're buying from a club in Europe is the exchange rate agreed in advance as per the exchange rate of the time or is it as per the rate on the date of each instalment. So effectively if the pound becomes stronger in the future, the transfer could become cheaper or vice versa.

{Ed002's Note - The exchange rate doesn’t change the instalments - they remain the same.}

Thanks Ed. I think Kean has a lot of growing up to do Gingerdan, I’d like to think he’d realise his potential here but I smell another Balotelli at the moment. If DCL keeps on firing perhaps we should use it as an opportunity to strengthen in other areas with Under, we are drastically short at RW.

Is there any interest in Lorenzo Pellegrini ed? . Read a few things linking us to him and may be a swap possibility with Kean.

{Ed002's Note - Roma want Kean but have no interest in selling Lorenzo Pellegrini (who would be grabbed by Inter or Juventus if he were for sale. Under is a more viable option - or perhaps Justin Kluivert.}

It would sort a problem position in RW provided Ancelotti could get the most out of Under.

{Ed002's Note - You are right.}

Is it likely that this would see the end of any pursuit of Gabriel or is it plausible we could be looking at 2 CB’s this window? .

{Ed002's Note - Clubs generally have several players under consideration for positions they need to fill.}

Gomes has been back a couple of games, give him some time to get his match sharpness back, he was out for a long time. Agree an additional CM is needed, plus RW and CB. I think DCL has made the CF position his own luckily so won’t need to buy anyone for that position and see how Kenny does on his return, if he can carry his form through that’s RB sorted. If we can sell Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin and Tosun to help with FFP and maybe reinvest for 1 player then perhaps promote from within for the other positions.

On another note I’m really confused why Sigs is being played on the wing, surely that’s Bernards natural position.

Question time, Sidibe. yes or no. He has great games but then yesterday was in Aubameyangs pocket, at 12m he’s cheap in this day and age but with FFP breathing down our necks should we spend 12m when we could bring Kenny back for free who I have heard has been playing very well this year.

Given we’re playing 9 of the top 10 over the remaining games then it really is in our hands playing our direct rivals for Europe. Only time will tell if we’re good enough.
