Seems like the debate to close the windows before the 1st game should be revisited but this time fine with some common sense and agreed across all the euro leagues. But hey that'd be like too much joined up thinking, so they're definitely not going to do that.

{Ed001's Note - why does it need to shut before the first game? There were never any of these issues before the transfer windows arrived. Why not just go back to the old system? Then teams can stop stockpiling players in case of injury and smaller clubs can hold onto them for a bit longer and be more competitive.}

Or that Ed no bother but either way I thinK we agree this setup is flawed.

{Ed001's Note - I can't stand the transfer windows, they favour only the richest clubs at the expense of the rest. So yes, I am with you.}

What would Sky do if we had a sensible transfer process? I my mind it has also inflated player prices and player power which will come back to bite clubs eventually.

Good call that Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why all the small clubs fail to see how it weakens them because the big clubs have to have a huge squad to cover for injuries. If they could buy players throughout the season, they could run with a smaller squad and just buy when an injury occurs. Unfortunately they just want to whine about the bigger clubs being able to buy their players, when that is always going to happen, no matter when the window shuts.}

Agreed Ed. Don't know why they couldn't return to a cut off of early spring for transfers.

Players who play well early season would still get the move to big club.

It's all to do with creating excitement on deadline day and Sky being able to increase ad slot costs on those days to make more money.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Sky.}

Just so I am clear on the above. If we reverted back to the ‘old’ system, would this allow clubs with say 10 games to go in the season who were involved in say the title race or relegation to STILL be able to make signings and loans to each other? (Think it use to be a date in March the cut off) . It would only take one of the bigger clubs to tactically loan someone to a team who is playing there rivals in the run in for that system to blow up in everyone’s faces. Nothing is perfect I know but imagine the hysteria if that happened ?.

It only weakens a team if it's done last minute of the window and they can't get a replacement. If you do away with the window altogether it means you can get a replacement.

It might also stop these players that can't get a move like what a lot of clubs have. We think its just us that can't move certain players on but there are dozens of them at all clubs. They can't get a move in the window and then there stuck at a club for 4 months gathering dust and by that time they aren't match fit and almost forgotten about.
