I have just read that our director of football will be looking for our new manager, . What the Fook is wrong with our club! He needs to go along with frank.

Surely the Director of Football is exactly the person who should be looking for the new manager? The only issue I can see is that he should have been looking for a new manager since he arrived - he should have a list of 4 or 5 potential managers that fit within the strategic plan of the football club. Maybe he has? I guess we will find out.

I thought that too BT. Patience Skylark patience ?.

I would have thought the same as well Brighton, surely Skylark the DOF is the right guy at Everton to be looking for a new manager mate.

Well he has brought in some rubbish players. The only issue is a massive one, if the DoF does not have a list, he should go along with Frank.

Well they have to make up their minds one way or another like tomorrow. Either get rid or keep him for the rest of the season. You can rest assured Kenwright will have a big say in his replacement if there is one. I would guess Moyes, Rooney or Ferguson would be his choices.

So another duff manager coming in then.

Personally I think the Dof has been doing a great job. With both incomings and also outgoings which people seem to forget.

{Ed025's Note - hmmm, maupay, Mcneil were not the right choices for me NBTB, and garner has yet to light any fires either, gana looks a shadow of his former self but i do have hope for onana, yes we have got a few off the books mate but your claim that he is doing a "great job" is probably wide of the mark..

The thought of him picking our new manager fills me with dread.

He is having a stinker the DOF. Onana is the only decent signing and he is bang average for the money. Also not what we needed as neeed creativity and a goal scorer after Ricky left so thelwell is miles off it. There is a reason he left wolves and it was because that Portuguese agent could do a better job!

He might surprise you Skylark and pick someone you like.

Are we saying Onana, coady, Tarkowski, Mcneil, Gana and Maupay are worse than our last squad?
Is Onana better than Gomez and Davies? Is Gana better than Doucoure?
Is Coady better or worse than keane?
Is Tarkowski better than Godfrey?
Apart from Ricky the rest of these are better than last season, we just need someone to knit them together.

This Gana is not better than Decoure, Coady/ Keane could work with Tarkowski. Tarkowski better than Godfrey, I honestly don't know. I hurt my leg the other day but when it clears up, at 72 yeah I am quicker than Maupay.

I also think the manager’s tactics and set up add to whether the players are playing well. Maybe with a new manager, new set up and new instructions, the team might start drawing rather than losing.

ED25 regarding Gueye if he's played as a number 6 which for me would be protecting the defence and to claim the ball from the defender and GK then play it straight away he will be fine it's the issue of carrying the ball then passing it something he's never been able to do but seems to be asked to do just that by the manager.

{Ed025's Note - i think the last thing we need is another midfielder playing as a defender lamps, our problem is going forward and if the defenders just do their job idrissa can get on with what hes supposed to be doing which is moving the ball forward mate..

Exactly point Smit666. Overall I think he done well. Who wanted those signings? We are all guessing. Of course Maupay and McNeil don't look like good signings, totally agree. DoF can't pick players all by himself. Agree with BR2022-23. Except hopefully there would be wins in there to keep us up with a new manager.

The defense miles better than last season. Problem is they couldn't deal with the amount of pressure that was coming there way. They done brilliant in the first 10 games. Everyone was lauding them. Impossible for them to keep that up with proper changes in the front third or even midfield. The morale is very low. New manager, different set up and players will look different. They are not as bad as they look at the moment.

Agree Ed025 but I think Lamprdstgeman's point is if Gana does what he is saying it alows the other midfielders to move more forward. Playing to the players strength and all that. Rather than trying to make them play a way that obviously isn't suiting them.

Anyone that thinks Onana is not a good signing needs the head examined. Declan Rice, Jack Grealish, hell Messi would look bad the way this team is playing at the moment. If or when we get relegated Onana and Pickford will be the first 2 out the door. They both won't be short of offers either.

The outgoings last summer was probably the best I've ever seen. Thing is we are not replacing Davies and Doucoure. We are replacing Allan, Rondon etc which wasn't bought by the current Dof. He has a more difficult job than Lampard. He really has to deal with the atrocious recruitment over the last number of years. Not an easy task in my humble opinion.

{Ed025's Note - there was a pot by whitty last night that summed it up perfectly NBTB. He talked about this eclectic mix we have of players recruited by former managers. He called it a Frankenstein miss match of players who are suited to different styles but who don’t play as a team. And I think he’s spot on mate..

Agree 100%. That's exactly the way I see it. Out of Lampards reach however. A manager, preferably experienced could make a proper team out of that mix. At least one to stay up in my opinion. Sooner its done the better. Otherwise championship here we come.

If Thelwell did actually sign all the players mentioned then you could make a decent case why. If you look at our squad last season the midfield and defence were the weakness. Our wide players were actually playing quite well. The only thing I am concerned about was who decided to throw all our eggs in the DCL basket for goals. I don't actually think we could have replaced Richy with the money we got for him if we were hamstrung by P&S limits. What he could not have expected was the very poor performance put out by the players and FLs inability to set the team up in a way that actually has the possibility of winning a game. I like FL but he has proven he is not able to get these players to win matches. As for the board well I'd be very surprised if anyone on this site has a differing opinion on their competence.

I thought Gueye was/ is a 6/ DM, I don't want him trying to run forward with the ball. Let him sit in front of back 4. Doucore Onana in front of him. God knows the 3 in front of them.
