Hi everyone, new member, lifelong Everton Fan.
Regards DCL I personally think he should go, no new contract. He is quite willing to not sign a new contract and leave for nothing, even though he has been picking up his weekly wages when long term injured. Even if his heart is elsewhere he could have signed a contract extension and guaranteed the club get something for him. So much for loyalty! I think the new policy of signing young British players is great going forward. Perfect time to hit the reset button in Summer. Beto, Doucore, Keane, Tarkowski, Young, Coleman, Borja, Thank you so much for everything, but it's time to move on.

I’d be fine with us offering him a reasonable extension with a lower wage and more bonuses, but he wouldn’t be likely to accept that and so he’ll likely move on. Probably best all round.

Playing devil's advocate, how many of us would want to sign an extension playing under SD and a team set-up with limited emphasis on attack and forward play? Don't think many would, it's a short career after all. There could have been a change of heart now dm is here but his injury probably curtailed that.
That said, if he wants to go then let him. If we want to be challenging the better teams then we need a forward with an instinct for goal and dcl isn't that. If he was to sign a new deal then it has to be at well less wages than he picks up now.

I think with his current injury we are now in the driving seat regards to his contract situation.

Cant see any top team coming in for him and don’t think he gets in to many of the teams in the league full stop. The big payday he was possibly hoping for is highly unlikely now.

If Moyes wants to keep him then would hope we offer a new contract on reduced terms based on his injury and scoring record and don’t think he could grumble about it - he may not accept it, but genuinely don’t think he can be too choosy.

Would have been better if we could have moved him on when his value was high but that time has long gone.

Agreed Yam Yam. Also welcome. He clearly wants a pay check, ain't going to be with us.

If we sign a good striker in the summer, which we absolutely can despite the narrative they are impossible to find. We will forget DCL was even here.

It pisses me off royally that when we have a crap psr situation, he runs down his contract. Makes out like he loves the club, but can't help us get a small fee for him.

I just want rid of these players and the sooner the better. I do think that when we sign new players on lesser contracts and they are giving us way more than this lot ever did, we will look back and go, how did these get so long at our club.

Free agent in the summer. Will get a nice fat signing on fee whoever he signs for. Don’t blame him get it while you can.

Dcl will soon be somebody else's deli ali.

Woburn do you honestly belief anyone will give him a nice fat signing on fee?

Personally I don’t see it myself, had he remained injury free and had a decent scoring record then could believe a team would pay him a decent signing on fee.

With his form both in relation to goals and injuries, not many teams will be willing to pay him a decent chunk to sign for them when he could well end up on the injury table after a few games or continue to have a poor goal return.

I think someone will take a pint on him on a free.

Of course they will JB. No transfer fee to pay out, there will be plenty of clubs wanting to sign him mate. And he will do nicely out of it.

He is still going to Newcastle i reckon.

There’ll be plenty of takers for DCL. No one in their right mind will look at his scoring stats when Dyche was coach. They all know how negative he is and can see how isolated DCL was in every match.

He will 100% get a signing on fee. If he can’t he should sack his agent who would clearly be crap at selling his player.

DCL had a chance to put himself in the shop window especially when dm returned. Salah did just that when contract talks were mentioned. What did DCL do, nothing. Will only move on a free as no one in their right mind would pay for him.

Scored a beauty then got injured I think Yam.

{Ed025's Note - heres my take on things for what its worth, i think DCL is a decent forward who has lost his way due to the negative style we played under Dyche, he was continually ploughing a lone furrow up front and was not only asked to win the long hoofballs but also chase after his own flick ons as well as score goals, it was an impossible task and add to that the lack of chances we created and the poor quality of our crossing i dont think the guy stood a chance, dont get me wrong he could have done a lot better at times but the style (or should i say lack of) that we played under the dinosaur would wreck any forwards head, i think there is a player in there and i would like to keep him personally even though he could prove me wrong, but this is just my humble opinion of course..

Steady on, if any 'old' boy deserves to be kept by the Club in some capacity it is Coleman, one of the best we have had.

Coleman is to old now. Bloody hell you will want Dunk back next.

Personally think dcl is crap. He has had 1 half decent season. I can't for the life of me see how he gets games at Newcastle, wilson struggles now and he is a far more complete striker. He is a bottom half prem league striker at best at his worst a very average championship striker, sadled with injuries and age is no longer on his side either. Re the big move that boat sailed ages ago!

DCL started believing his own hype after a decent 18 months. He now thinks that bigger and better things await him away from us. I'd personally just let him go once his contract expires and concentrate on players who want to play for EFC.

Wilson is a free transfer in the summer so DCL would replace him both are injury prone but DCL is about 5 year's younger i think. I have heard Howe talking about him and he really rate's him that's why i reckon he will be playing for Newcastle nxt season.
