I think the opposite ed with respect. A few have been sort of big spending but so far its generally been a slower summer for epl clubs and I think with psr ffp wtf more clubs are looking to sell than ever before and some clubs have massive bloated squads. I think a lot of clubs will back down and start slashing prices. I think our new mob know this and that's why we've been perceived as slow. I believe we have around 150m to spend and the friedkins are playing chicken. We will be 3rd 4th and 5th choices for some of these better targets but they're not all getting their dream Liverpool or City move. Think we will end applauding the balls on these new owners come end of window. Is it 4 weeks left? Loads of time. Don't panic. Not ideal as they miss pre season etc but letting 14 or so players leave in one chunk is also unprecedented. Think we might need to be planning some of the clubs rebuild having to happen in the winter window too. Patience has been stressed so many times. This is going to take a while.

{Ed025's Note - you could be right FBS but as you say we have let a hell of a lot of players go and the squad is threadbare, we have known this for months and i would have thought we would have addressed this a lot sooner, its ok to play chicken but its so late in the window that it stinks of desperation to me and even if we do get players in they will take time to bond and get up to speed with their new team mates, i dont want to sound so negative but a half decent start is essential if we dont want to be in the same situation as we have for the last few years imo, its fine to make excuses for the club but even Moyes has gone public on the matter so i suspect its not part of a preconceived plan, dont get me wrong im not privvy to whats going on just like the rest of us and most of it is speculation, but for my own sanity i hope things move on at a pace now and that we can at least compete..

Why would we want to pay 100k a week to a player who is going to sit on the bench? Also wants a three year contract, do we really want to do that for a 29 year old? I mean haven't we been down this road before?

I think you're bang on FBS. We've got to wait for these players to realise they aren't getting Europe before they lower their expectations and consider Everton. The only other way to persuade them early is to offer silly money and we end up being in the situation we have been in for the last 5-10 years with loads of uninterested, over paid journey men.

The way I see people speak about the transfer window on here it's like they have forgotten about the whole Moshiri time period.

We will get players. We will definitely get loans. It won't be done in one window. It probably won't even be done in 2 or 3 or 4. But I genuinely believe we will end every window better than we started. Patience.
