Getting linked with Powell now that "baines is going", part exchange with Man Utd.
Good Young Player who appears to be shining with Wigan at championship level

kiwiefc

1.) 17 Nov 2013 18:13:32
Oh please no, stands out in crap teams and scores one goal for Manchester United and he is the best thing sinced sliced bread, overrated (as usual the case with english players) and not as good as he thinks he is

Mike-Ox Long

2.) 17 Nov 2013 19:45:33
Powell is absolute class, you obviously haven't watched him play for crew, United or Wigan. He's been outstanding for Wigan in the championship.

3.) That's the key word championship level not epl.

4.) 17 Nov 2013 20:06:32
I watched him play for crew when everyone was talking about him and I do think he is a good player but absolute class is beyond exaggeration, watched him play for united and again nothing special, he is doing well in the championship at a poor wigan side struggling, when I hear 'we shouldn't go after herrera or gundogan we have powell who is more talented' I laugh my ass off what player are people watching to sat these things, good player but one of the many overhyped british players, we can add oxlade chamberlain, sterling, zaha, harry kane, luke garbutt and will hughes on to the overhyped list, powell isn't the only one

Mike-Ox Long

5.) Theirs a reason he's playing in the championship, because he's not good enough for the prem. if where going to take one of there's who has potential then give me Zaha any day.

6.) Why go for Baines at £16mil if Powell is "absolute class"?

I have said this many times on this site. We don't accept sloppy seconds as sweeteners in transfer deals. If a club wants to bid for our player, then cash only and a lot of it please.

That should be the message we are sending out. Why should we accept what they deem not good enough?

7.) Powell is only young guys, I know who i'd play out of Powell or osman.

8.) 18 Nov 2013 15:49:13
id play a panda with one eye and both its legs gone over osman, powell is good and has the potential to be a very good player, but not the world beater people say he is

Mike-Ox Long

9.) Dear Ajax,

I'm not the best lover of Osman (as you can see in my and DegsyP's conversation on the banter page) but believe you me, at some point this season you will be praising Osman and being thankful we have him. Maybe even as early as next Saturday.

He isn't the best, but have a bit more respect for him. People like you Ajax really are "I only see the quality of the player, not the overall use of the player" sort of people (you can see what I mean by 'overall use' on the banter page conversation between me and DegsyP).

10.) Powell is in the same boat as Barkley, good young players with the potential to be very good players, but I don't see the need to take a risk on him. Cash up front on our terms the El manager can do what he likes with the proceeds

11.) 18 Nov 2013 18:08:57
okay keith I read it and don't agree, martinez will not change his style of play and bring osman in to do it, I have never liked osman and never rated him, you mention experience but here is the thing, barry is experienced and i'm using him for example, he controls the game, knows where to pass it and can defend and works hard, osman despite having experience never will know where to pass the ball or when to tackle (or how to tackle should I say), i'm mentioning the quality yes but after osmans sub goal vs villa (remember people where saying he is god?) bobby put him in the number 10 role (the role everyone thinks he should be playing in) and he was ineffective for both games, we are now a passing team and we will not change just to suit osman, you talk about having more respect, well when my little cousin was trying to get osman to sign his shirt and ball osman just wandered on past him and didn't show any respect, that is not the reason I don't respect him though, hibbert has been a great servant and a good defender at the club but people go 'no pace (because osman is like usain bolt right) and can't attack get rid', I wouldn't drop coleman for him, coleman is better but its the same in midfield, barry, mccaethy, gibson (not fit so maybe he is irrelevant) and barkley are all better players and they suit our style and the way we use them better than osman, but people say show repsect he is a true evertonian (despite being a kopite may I just add) but people don't show respect to hibbo, I know who I think is more useful on the pitch, i'm not claiming to be a genius and i'm not going say writing loads of words makes me right but I need this much writing to get my point accross

Ajax are you the same miserable mike that used to post mate

13.) 18 Nov 2013 20:01:03
nope

Mike-Ox Long

14.) ''Ajax are you the same miserable mike that used to post mate''

No, Ajax is a different poster. Not the first time people have thought it was me though.

13 Nov 2013 05:51:05
hey Ed Seeing as Gibson and Kone are out long term and bobby has indicated that he would like to bring in reinforcements in those positions who do you think he is likely to bring in?
IMO I would like Rhodes and Xhaka providing we get them for an ok price, is this a possibility? {Ed025's Note - rhodes will be on the list of possibles i imagine kiwi, im sure bobby has players in mind, but im not privvy to that information mate..

kiwiefc

1.) I said before Rhodes left Huddersfield for £6m that we should have gone for him. He will cost more now probably about £10m. Others thought he was not worth the money as he was untried at highest level. GHB

08 Nov 2013 06:52:16
I didn't realise we were strapped for cash until Bobby M said "Obviously we are waiting for Roberto Soldado to apologise to Phil Jagielka, and so we can use the same phone call so we don't have to spend on two phone calls." The Fellaini money has gone straight to the banks ;)

kiwiefc

1.) Haven't you ever noticed that if the club have to ring you back over a problem they reverse the charges

Hearing Good things about Ryan Ledson, 16 y/o midfielder who came off the bench for the U21's vs Middlesborough, has anyone seen him play? If so what kind of player is he, strengths weaknesses etc

kiwiefc

1.) Ryan went to maghull high school. he England school captain and of good character. he can tackle and has a good engine. he is destined for the first team.

Its been rumored that under the new BT Sport deal with the Champions League, that English Clubs in the competition will get around 25mil apiece. Significant dough, which (conditional on us making the top 4) would help us purchase a quality striker or pay off a significant portion of our debts. But if we don't make top 4, the monetary inequality between those that have and those that don't will only increase making it harder to get in. Bit of a double edged sword.

kiwiefc

1.) While other clubs have sugar daddies, or are allowed(!) to operate with truly massive debts, or have huge match day income (due to modern high capacity stadiums) and other worldwide commercial earnings, we don't have much of a chance of competing. Bottom line is that having the best players is what makes a team successful and that costs big money in transfer fees and wages. We do well to stay in the top half of the table - let alone challenging for a top-six or (amazingly) top-four position - considering what we are able to spend on players IMHO.

Who should we be signing as a striker to replace Lukaku when he leaves? I'm 95% certain we won't get him on a permanent so we need a replacement, both for him and Kone should he stay injured. Perhaps Hernandez or Rhodes? Imo rhodes would be a better long term target and seems a natural goalscorer.

kiwiefc

1.) We have a £14m option to buy him at the end of the season {Ed025's Note - who do you mean?..

2.) Lukaku for 14 million.i think not.the more he scores the more the price goes up.just enjoy the beast while we have him.

3.) They don't need to sell and would dent put a 14 mil tag on him either, considering how well he done last season and the fact they paid 19m in the first place

01 Nov 2013 03:51:21
Hey guys a question for you all, with Barry on loan but his contact expiring in summer we may have the opportunity to sign him properly. Who would sign him?
Imo he's been a good servant to the club so far and his experience is and would be great, but I would prefer to reserve my opinion until after January. {Ed025's Note - its a no brainer kiwi, if his wage demands are reasonable, get him on a 4yr deal asap..

kiwiefc

1.) 01 Nov 2013 08:15:55
Get him the minute the transfer window opens mate, otherwise we will lose him to someone because 90% of the prem clubs will be after the guy, he is seriously a class act {Ed025's Note - i agree degsy..

2.) 4yrs? We'd have to wheel him on to the pitch! I would offer him a 2yr deal and hope that we rarely have to play him in his final year. He has a short term shelf life at his age and we would need to look at replacing him fairly soon

Pod

3.) 01 Nov 2013 09:29:22
I don't agree Pod mate, he is in top shape and its not as if he is bombing up and down the wing every match, I think that could be the difference between him signing and not signing, a 2 or 4 year deal, give him 4 years and let's get him on board.

4.) He won't want to be moving clubs every season - martinez showed faith in him and he's built things around him - he aso says he feels part of the everton family straight away and feels at home - not like at City - so I imagine he wil want to stay - not sell himself around for a few extra quid - he will already be ok for money

5.) 3 year pay-as-you-play deal, on good money

6.) A "pay as you play deal", don't be daft. A normal 2 year contract would be ideal. After the first year we could offer him an extension. a 3 year contract would also be good. A 4 year deal, seems a bit long for a player of his age though. But, has shown so far that he could be a vital player for us. A hell of a signing!

7.) 01 Nov 2013 15:01:04
barry is a must get, guy has been class for us and is great for our youngsters to learn from, top man, top player and top professional

Mike-Ox Long

8.) Like Roberto has said his game has never been about pace. Its all about positioning, for that reason I can still see him playing for us for another 3 seasons after this easy

Albo {Ed025's Note - me too albo..

27 Oct 2013 09:31:39
Good to see martinez knows what a tactical substitution is, first west ham now villa he's really changed the game with who he's brought on. On another note barkley is looking a little jaded, may need a rest.

kiwiefc

1.) You forgot to mention the stevie peanuts substitution last week kiwi.

Its been pretty disappointing to see the bile they've got spewed at them. The kids are15, 16, 17 and shouldn't be recieving the amount of criticism they are geting in the national media. While they were bad tackles the kids are still at school for goodness sake. The media has a duty of care towards these young players.

kiwiefc

They call it a rumour for a reason. For starters we can only bring in free agents and permanents as we have reached our maximum of players we can bring in on loan, so the sterling to everton is rubbish, not that we would take him anyway

kiwiefc

Its highly unlikely we'll get hamad as he hasn't even played for his new club so they won't be selling him unless we pay a lot more than what they did. Stocker and martins indi would be nice, need a striker as well.

I thought we had reached the limit of loaned players we could have? I thought the limit was 2 from the PL. Would be nice to have him rampaging down the left though.

I think the media may have pulled this out of their arse from when we were linked with that rangnick fella as our new manager, he's sporting director for two Red Bull Teams in Europe and so he's "recommended us to them"
Wouldn't be a bad thing having them as a main commercial sponsorship with majority ownership as long as they kept the badge and didn't rename the team it would be all well and good, might get a stadium out of it.

We can get one more from europe, but if we sign barry on a permanent in january then we can get another domestic loan

At the end of the day we are a team transitioning from one style to another, and while we are in transition there are going to be patches of blinding brilliance and likewise average performances. There's nothing too alarming yet, particularly seeing as we are just outside the European places so in reality we are ahead of schedule.
No need for the negativity yet

Seen the same stories, media manipulating quotes to make headlines as usual. Good to see Barkley retained his place in the squad, I hope he gets a run out.
