How long are some of our fans going to say barkley and del boy are world class?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

21 Sep 2016 21:13:41
I have yet to hear anyone, including our own fans, say they are world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 22:58:16
Bluey79 said it in a post and you agreed only just a few posts ago my friend nbtb.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Sep 2016 00:22:33
'Let's sell two of the best young talents in Europe; behave yourself'. Does not translate to the 2 players in question being world class my friend Skylark.

I'll point out some of the key words seeing you have trouble understanding it. 'best' 'young talents' and 'Europe'.

Let me see world class? Nope, not in there. You seem to have trouble reading between the lines Skylark. Also seem to be well able to exaggerate and twist what other people are saying.

So again, I have yet to see anyone in any way imply they are world class. Apart from you that is my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2016 11:41:49
I knew you would say that nbtb; splitting hairs comes to mind. if you are saying he is one of the best young talents in Europe, to me that is just the same as as I thought European football was the best in the world, so I will say it again my friend; barkley is not one of the best young talents in Europe or they world stop making excuses for him every week.

he is not good enough and if some fans think he isn't they should be able to say it that's all part of football they are payed a very good salary and should stop sulking and show us what they are supposed to be able to do and I have yet to see it from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2016 14:46:37
Your entitied to your opinion. That's fine. Just don't be twisting what people say in posts to exaggerate their point so as it strengthens your own. That's not a proper debate. Try staying to the facts.

Incidentally BarkLey was among the best last season in his position in terms of goals and assists. The premeirship being one of the best leagues in Europe. That in a bad season for the team. Yet you want to sell him and take a chance on someone else. Who may never work out.

I'm not sticking up for Barkley. He definitely needs to improve. He gets constantly knocked and put down by the media and so called supporters it doesn't help. Yes they all get well paid that again, does not translate that anyone has the right to hurl abuse at him or any player. I don't think they play bad on purpose. Although the way some people react to their performances you'd swear they try to play bad.

I hope to God Barkley improves and plays out of his skin and makes you eat your words. Somehow I get the feeling you wouldn't be happy with that and want him to fail.

It's a long season and I suspect we will see plenty of goals and asissts from Barkley. Just like last season only with him playing a lot better. It will take time. Koeman has not got a magic wond. It won't happen instantly.

Still in a state of shock but well done Naisy it shows that our supporters have the intelligence to recognise what a cracking guy he is.
Question
Where did Leon Osman end up, was away in summer and he's gone off radar?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2016 18:09:25
Time to get rid of of our dead wood players lennon, del boy, gibson, an barkley tries to take the world on instead of passin to players who are in a better position to score enough of this we need another striker a cm a rb a lb an a keeper.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

21 Sep 2016 19:01:01
2 centre miss I'd say mate. gibson and clev to be gone in jan.

21 Sep 2016 14:16:17
Would anybody object to going back for Naisy. He should never have gone. Try offloading Kone instead and bring in my fellow Irishman Shane Long. If that were all we'd buy in January I would be ecstatic.
On another note was very disappointed with last night, but it is less games for us which I think is a positive.

I would sell barkley and del boy in the window along with lennon and buy two players with a bit of composure who can pass and cross a ball at the right moments stop sticking up for them been waiting long enough for them to come good.

Let's have a poll then to see if we think barkley is one of the best young talents in Europe
Yes or no.

Well done Skylark. That is the debate. No mention of world class in the thread. Only the one you started above.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2016 11:47:12
Let's see how we vote then.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2016 14:55:58
We all know how that's going to go at the moment Skylark. A lot of supporters turn their back on players at the first sight of them playing any way bad. Yes he's playing a few seasons now but for the first time he has a manager who knows what he's talking about.

Any chance we could have the same poll at the end of the season Ed? Just for comparison. We are after all only one month into the new season with a new manager. After having a clueless manager for the previous 3 years. I trust in Koeman. He said it will take time. Barkley is obviously down after the euros.

He should be judged at the end of the season. Not on 7 games.

One thing i noticed was Del boy was left out of the poll. Why? When the statement in question inclused him. Proves the point people go out of their way to target Barkley.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 08:37:59
I'm as disappointed as every blue that we didnr bear Norwich but two points.
Koeman has never taken the cup seriously and is all about the league and to a degree the f a cup
Last night was about experimenation, mori at leftback, and to see what we need and to bring in. I know that January is a bad time to buy but I can see some business being done

Personally think that quite a few of the players last night did not cover themselves in glory but hopefully it was a blip and normal service will be resumed on Saturday. Onwards and upwards blues, keep up the momentum in the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2016 09:15:13
I agree Efcfanatic. Last night was a disappointment. But we are bound to get some of these. Koeman said it will take time to get a squad together. I think people are overreacting a little bit. I know it was disappointing but can't throw the toys out of the pram because we had one stinker out of 7 games. The other 6 exceeded pretty much everyone's expectations.

Its how the team recover from that loss now that will measure their steel. Hopefully they'll put it behind them and pick up where they were before it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 09:55:51
Agree totally with the above be a different side on Saturday and a different attitude from the main players that are responding well to Koeman's tactics and coaching methods. As for comments from so-called experts such as Mr Gale, I take as much notice as I do from the Mother In Law (and that on a good day) .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 10:57:53
Agree it will take time, I think we will do well to finish 6/ 7th but for me that's why we should go all out for cup games, its the only way we will get silverware?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 12:34:08
Stig I get what you are saying about silverware I really do mate. However the name of the game to me is CL football, because that way we truly join the big ambitious type clubs in attracting the players we prioritise as identified improvements to the squad.
Right now we (RK) are struggling to get players we know are the perfect fit and settling for the 'almost but not quite' and 'will just have to do for now' getting top 4 will guarantee the sort of success in tranfer windows we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 13:02:11
Champions league will help us attract the sort of player we need and to a degree so will Europe league. The be all and end all is we need to qualify for Europe in one way or another.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2016 01:43:34
Could be a blessing, just league games til the window opens, but on a positive, Koeman will not make the same mistake when the fa cup comes round.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 08:22:58
Last nights performance showed me that my last season's neegativity was somewhat justified. The fringe players are just not good enough. ie the ones given a chance last night. Thank god we have someone who immediately came in and started to make changes. We can see we need more. let's hope we get one ot two more in in January. And not too many injuries and suspensions in between. Having said all that some of the regulars had an off night last night. let's hope it is a wake up call.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

21 Sep 2016 09:22:40
Yes it was disappointing and some players need a kick up the arse. But are we all guilty of what we accuse the younger generation of today? We all claim they want instant success and have no patience.

That was one game. We are better than that. I wouldn't start completely writing players off based on one game. The best of players can have bad games.

Koeman did say it will take 2 years to get to where he wants. He is still learning about players at his disposal. Some haven't played in many games yet.

I'll guarantee one thing there will be more results like last night throughout the season. It reminded me of last season. The cobwebs still need to be properly shook off imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i know it happens NBTB but i was hoping for a better showing against a norwich reserve side, but its over now and its onwards and upwards, its ok to not be happy with your team 100% of the time though it shows you care mate..

21 Sep 2016 09:32:40
Absolutely Ed025.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 09:58:58
The other way of looking at it was that Norwich reserve players were playing to make the first Team where as I would suggest those from Everton, such as Cleverly know they are Squad players and ergo nothing to prove.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 12:35:42
I was particularly surprised at the poor performances by Barkley and Mirallas when he came on. Both of whom had impressed me with their reactions to the new manager. But more dissappointing was the performances of Cleverly and Lennon. This was their opportunity to stake a claim in the first team with good performances. Mori too. By the way, someone posted about being out the FA Cup. this one is the League cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 15:35:36
You could add Del boy as well. Very disappointed in him. He should be running rings around the likes of last nights opponents.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 00:45:49
ed 25 what do you think of uses subs to me he looked reculant to make them but they needed to be made. Valencia erm what is there to say think he be 3rd choice behind rom kone.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i dont think the subs made that much of a difference bretto, the heads had already dropped by then and it showed how lacking in depth we really are, we came down to earth with a massive bump last night and to me it showed how reliant we are on the likes of lukaku and barry, valencia looked poor but to be honest the midfield never gave him much to feed on mate..

21 Sep 2016 07:32:38
To be fair Ed RK already knew we did not have the strength in depth and to be fair those brought in did not do anything to boost their chances. For once I think the January transfer window is going to be interesting and also RK's approach to the FA Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was very disappointed BCT, i thought that the feel good factor would make the guys on the fringe really want to bust a gut to represent the club but it seems the lack of quality means some will have to be shipped out, my main concerns are about ross who had a great chance to take this game by the scruff of the neck but again flatters to decieve, is he the next rodwell? im beginning to think so. the january window is notorious for being a bad time to buy so i dont really expect us to do that much even though we can all see its needed mate..

21 Sep 2016 08:04:47
I defended Ross all last season and was adamant that he has the talent and with the correct coaching can realise his potential but I'm now starting to wonder if he already has. He needs to find a mean streak and also learn to shoot 1st time, although I am concerned he doesn't do this because of the boo boys who will get on his back more if it goes in Row Z.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is gray when are we going to see this talent we have all been waiting for?, he has been lauded as this next big thing and bar from a few cameo,s i cant remember him actually dominating a game, yes there is pressure but thats part and parcel of the game hes in, his tackling is pathetic and unwillingness to track back even worse, add to that his woeful shooting and selling the defence down the river with continual loss of possession and sloppy passing it does not look good at all mate, i sound very negative i know but making excuses for him every week is doing the guy no favours at all..for christs sake ross get a grip of yourself or the next kit we see you in could be the red uniform of Mcdonalds..

21 Sep 2016 14:07:17
Can't argue with that assessment Ed and maybe a spell on the sidelines could do him some good and bring in Tom Davies for a stint in the side instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - tom looks a better bet than some of them who donned the shirt last night gray (i wont say played as it flatters them)..

21 Sep 2016 20:11:51
Plays with raw passion and no fear which I like about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 02:50:59
I've been reading comments on here for a few years and thought it about time I plucked up the courage and take the virgin post plunge.
I know quite a number of supporters are a little disappointed by the Norwich result, but to some extent we as supporters are to blame.
I've never known home team support jeer, ridicule, denounce and boo our own team in such a despicable manner in which we do.
The jeering of Barkley is simply criminal. Not only does it put Ross off his stride but it affects the performance of the team as well.
If I was a player and was likely to get taunted for trying something different I'd soon curtail my ideas and take the easy way out and pass the ball to someone else.
It's about time, as supporters, we stop heckling our team and support them.
Last year the abuse John Stones had to endure from our own supporters was downright disgusting.
Damn it. I promised myself a quick, quirky and light hearted post. Just look what the Neanderthals have done to me.

21 Sep 2016 07:40:23
Hesitate to come across as an old whinger but it is the new breed of supporter being brought up to expect everything now and social media/ mobile phone communication doesn't help (I have been in computers since 1974 i ncidentally) To be fair though I was there last night and the voiced criticism appears to come from the same group and area of the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think you are spot on in this, as it happens amongst every set of fans. Every team has a target for boo boys that gets abuse week in, week out, and it is getting worse as they now have new ways to give out abuse for everyone to see. It really is not limited to Everton at all.}

21 Sep 2016 08:18:40
I too am disgusted at it. These guys need to read up the definition of "supporter".

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - listen guys i get your point to a certain extent and as for booing our own players then im totally with you on that...but..and im not just picking on ross here, but when a player like him gives the ball away 5 times out of 6 like he did in the sunderland game then what do you expect them to say?."hard luck old chap, better luck next time"..no you hear sighs that mean a professional footballer should be achieving a higher standard, this is not a kids U12 game its the dog eat dog world of professional football, our supporters are very loyal and have stuck by the club for many years even though they have been barren ones for a long time, have you ever thought it might be these over hyped over paid prima-donnas that may be te fault and not the regular joe or josephine that pays hard earned money to follow this club all over the country?...rant over..

21 Sep 2016 10:59:21
Barkley needs to level his game out as it stands it's bi-polar!

PL clubs demands are more about consistancy, other wise he will fall by the wayside and end up being sold off .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2016 02:30:51
RK will use this as a wake up call to combat early season complacency. I would rather see a loss in the EPL Cup than a loss during the regular season.

In a way it is an exhibition match. Now back to your regularly scheduled Starting XI.
