Think Carlo is going to find like every Manager before him at Everton. With Transfers you don't get the player you want, you get the player you are given. Difference is with Carlo, Everton don't have the lee way to hum and hah, he will just walk.

{Ed002's Note - It will be much better now. He wants and will get Ivanovich to give experience - but at 36 it will only be in the short term.}

1.) 05 Aug 2020 13:45:21
I like that reply from Ed - sounds more positive than usual, hoping that’s because the third party advisors are long gone and brands and Carlo working together.

Ivanovic for experience on a short term deal sounds ok. Just hope it’s not because we’ve missed out on Gabriel.

Be interesting to see how the window progresses for us.

Probably 90% of the players we are being linked with are not even on our radar just click bait or stories to try and spur other interested teams in to bidding.

Brands I believe had already come out and said probably only 2-3 signings this window - let’s hope they are good ones.

Majority of his work this window will be continuing to move players on.

{Ed002's Note - Brands and Ancelotti have better control but have to work within a budget.}

2.) 05 Aug 2020 14:07:31
Cheers Ed. Good to hear they have better control.

Whilst it’s frustrating as a fan to hear the word budget as most fans would love their team to go out and spend x amount to buy the player they think will make the difference. £35mil Allan, £25mil Gabriel, £50mil Edouard, etc.

It’s totally understandable that those days are gone for us.
We’re a mid table team at best at the moment with no European football income.

We have to spend within our means and make sure we start making the right decisions in the transfer market.

We’ve been crazy in the market before and we are running the risk of breaching FFP.

Hopefully we can strike a good balance this window of moving some players on and replacing wisely.

There’s also a moral issue as the C.V. C.V. has also severely affected incomes - not just football clubs but those of the fans.

I’m not sure how I’d feel seeing the team spend £40mil on a player then pay him £100k+ per week when there are probably 1000’s of fans out there who have lost probably lost their jobs because of the C.V. But will still spend what money they have on supporting the team.

Will be interesting to see if the C.V. puts transfer fees and wages in to any perspective.

{Ed002's Note - Many clubs are in serious financial trouble and many (e.g. Barcelona) are looking for players to take wage cuts.}

3.) 05 Aug 2020 14:10:07
Carlo coming to the Club has been a huge positive. Thanks for the reply Ed002.

4.) 05 Aug 2020 15:33:47
Thanks for the reply Ed.
On the Barcelona financial issues - I imagine they are still keen to move Tobido on, I remember we were previously linked to him but was reported we weren’t keen on the deal offered (possible buy back clause) do we still hold an interest or has that now gone?

{Ed002's Note - Jean-Clair Todibo is still an option for Everton. Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) will be sold with a buy-back clause and €25M - plenty of interest but Barcelona do not see him as good enough - was available in January and is being offered around to clubs including Everton who may well look to push for him, Manchester United and Inter. Milan have had talks but concerns over injuries saw a lower bid made and rejected. General interest from RBL (gone), Rennes Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton but no discussions. His agent has offered him to Napoli as a Kalidou Koulibaly replacement but they have their mind set on another. Roma are being messed around over another player and have turned to declare an interest in J-CT but it looks like that issue will be resolved - so they will drop interest.}

5.) 05 Aug 2020 16:46:03
Thanks for the reply.
Will be interesting to see how our recruitment pans out over this window.

01 Dec 2019 22:00:07
Ed002 a call out. Benitez a possibility?

{Ed002's Note - He won’t want to be the assistant to Moyes BCT.}

1.) 01 Dec 2019 22:22:09
Whoa moyes coming.

2.) 01 Dec 2019 22:24:01
Do I know you Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I cannot answer that.}

3.) 02 Dec 2019 00:32:53
Please, let it be benitez.

4.) 02 Dec 2019 15:39:19
alrite everyone first time blue on here i thought we played well yesterday okay we lost in the end like but just think its time for silva to go with derby coming up this wednesday its not ideal i would like see eddy howe get job with big dunc as his number 2 but just my opinion or maybe rafa Benítez he can go back basics sort defence out none this zonal marking that seen in last few weeks but again just my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - welcome to the madhouse andy..

5.) 02 Dec 2019 16:42:45
(ed025) who would you want as next manager that you think could do good job at goodison with current players there.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think im the person to ask andy, i have been happy with our choices previously only to get bitten on the arse every time mate, i can tell you who i dont want though...moyes, hughes, allardyce or howe, we need a serial winner who will shake things up imo..

6.) 02 Dec 2019 17:46:10
fair enough ed just thought with eddy howe doing good job at bournemouth and also being a blue aswell he might know club bit more and maybe give us some stability that he has done for bournemouth aswell but thanks for reply ed.

{Ed001's Note - Howe is someone that suffers from the exact same issues as Martinez and Silva - can't organise a defence.}

7.) 02 Dec 2019 21:20:19
So you’re saying he fits the profile?

8.) 02 Dec 2019 22:29:06
What’s people’s thoughts on bielsa from Leeds?

31 Jul 2017 17:18:42
Everton ready 'huge' third offer for Sigurdson. 'Player plus 45 Mill' is the rumour. If they are serious and a third offer would indicate they are, then why haven't they offered the 50 Mill, Swansea can then take it or leave it and we can all move on.

1.) 31 Jul 2017 17:40:42
I've heard the same, but that this is an agreed approach between the two clubs. fingers crossed this one gets over the line and then we can focus on bringing some speed to work alongside that quality.

2.) 31 Jul 2017 18:50:25
Ed any news of this.

{Ed025's Note - i know nothing about this rich mate..

28 Dec 2016 19:52:25
van dyke must be worth 60 mill after that start against spuds.

1.) 28 Dec 2016 20:25:35
Just gone down by 20 million, he lost out on a header by Ali who scored!

2.) 28 Dec 2016 21:23:59
yep noticed and was just about to post but you beat me to it. Funny how the commentators missed what was obvious to us.

3.) 29 Dec 2016 11:41:41
Well after that result surely we should get him on a free now. 😀.

03 Dec 2016 21:37:24
The scale of Koeman's job is becoming more and more apparent every week now. Catch22 without the players we cannot progress and we cannot progress unless we can attract the players and to attract the players we need to be at least top 6.

Ergo as much as we want things to happen in the January window, nobody of quality will come unless we:
A) Pay over the odds

B) Pay wages over the odds

1.) 03 Dec 2016 23:03:31
It does seem that is likely to be the case until we establish our credentials!

2.) 03 Dec 2016 23:25:27
Get the chequebook out farhad.

3.) 04 Dec 2016 18:40:38
Have to agree there is no quick fix to oour problems but let's see more youngsters given a go. Holgate was excellent today and Davies deserves a chance.

Would go for Potter, Nuno, Benitez or (my first choice) Moyes! and who is Moyes first Team coach! Irvine, with Moyes here during our more stable years, should never have gone to Preston.

1.) 01 Jun 2021 21:38:29
Irvine left moyes the other week, he hasn't got a number 2.
Moyes has done with West ham exactly what he did with Everton. Beat the sides below and lost to the majority of the sides above.
When will fans stop longing for Moyes when he wouldn't get 59 points with this team if you gave a 10 point start.

2.) 01 Jun 2021 22:52:35
Differing opinions Smit666.

"To be ready for Europe, you have to be in Europe. We have to try to win the two games and see if we are in Europe or not. If we are, we will build a squad to be in Europe. If we're not, we'll build a squad to be better in the Premier League. " Well duhhh! Not bloody rocket science is it . Modern day coaches/ managers are akin to Nero. It seems to me you build a squad to do well, full stop!

1.) 17 May 2021 15:56:49
Perhaps a lot of the Everton players have no desire to want to play in Europe competition and play 2 games a week including on Sundays. They are certainly not putting in professional performances. If tiredness is put forward as excuse then they are certainly not fit. I would assume a professional footballer would prefer playing to training.
Ship out Richardson and bring in Lingard
Ship out Sigurdson and bring in John McGinn from villa.
Ship out Holgate bring in another defender
Ship out Delph, Iwobi just for starters.

02 May 2021 12:08:42
So on top of our lot getting creamed again it doesn't get better for me. Daughter marrying a red this afternoon so it is grit teeth and smile pleasantly while he and his lot are glued to the Utd v Liverpool game. 'Grandaughter' to me "don't worry Grandad, I will look after you", 😇.

1.) 02 May 2021 12:23:51
good luck, hopefully you will get the last laugh.

2.) 02 May 2021 12:46:32
A long season Bill, loads of ups and downs but in the end they won the same as us.

23 Apr 2021 22:51:05
Terrible game but won 1-0, found a way (with a little help) . Top sides find a way, playing ugly ir playing well. Take 1-0 any day.

1.) 24 Apr 2021 00:20:12
As has been said before the midfield is the problem. Gomes can't find a player in blue with his passes, James today lost the ball often and Siggy spent most of the time in his own half defending. Yes will take the win but midfield has to be a priority in the summer transfer window. we need attacking midfielders who can move the ball from defense to attack quickly and accurately.

2.) 24 Apr 2021 05:30:24
James lost the ball to often as he’s a positive player looking forward for a pass with no options. Then had to find other ideas. He’s a quality player and anything about us going forward started with him. Always wanted the ball always looks for it. That’s a player in my eyes.

3.) 24 Apr 2021 08:12:19
Agree with you Jim. Think at times he just looks exasperated by the lack of movement and options when he has the ball.

4.) 24 Apr 2021 10:12:29
We are missing a Tim Cahill type box to box player with his passion.

5.) 24 Apr 2021 10:43:18
Why the negativity? . we just won at Arsenal for the first time in 25 years?
You sure your a blue?

6.) 24 Apr 2021 19:41:42
Not being negative just realistic. Yes great to win but this is a discussion forum and having been a supporter for 75 years since I went to my first game at 6, and having been to Goodison probably more times than you I object to the comment about being s Blue.

13 Mar 2021 22:02:08
Quite simple really. Lack of squad depth, lack of quality and most of all lack of guts. The other most obvious is that these lads are not fit enough.

No they don't, what is more every pre-season a player comes in and off we go, just look; he is the second coming, here we go, here we go. Where as (apart from Brands acquisition of young blood) , the players brought in (promises made to New Manager) are bang average, older, injury prone, don't make the grade at their old Club and in James case can't handle the intensity of the Premiership.

He does Ed25 but seems to think winning Europa League with a good Squad isn't an achievement. Relegated with a bad Team and an awful owner but brought them straight back up. Positives far outweigh the negatives. He loves Liverpool (as we all do) , he is Loyal, he is an excellent tactician. The fly in the ointment (apart from our fickle supporters) is his seeming reluctance to work with a DoF, if that can be ironed out we are in for a period (at last) of stability, just when we need it.

{Ed025's Note - im not the biggest fan of his style of play BCT thats the only thing that puts me off a bit mate, maybe if he got some decent players in and with a better squad it could work though, if he is appointed he will get my backing100%..

Benitez did nothing at Newcastle! = Brought them up from Championship and made the most of a bad job (the owner) wuth little to no resources. Chelsea finished 3rd won Europa League. Liverpool won Champions League. The only problem is as now being reported is his difficulty working with DoF. 3rd/ 4th meeting today so perhaps that may be ironed out. If hired, what he will do is create a period of stability. What us fickle fans should do is give our heads a wobble.

Brassington. For a start James will not be 'sold', how do you think we got him in the first place, same/ similar terms to Ancelloti perhaps? As for the other two, one may go but not two. If Rafa is indeed coming in, he would surely be consulted on incomings/ outgoings.
